Sona urged Agrawal to watch her film 'Shut Up Sona' to get a glimpse of what female artistes have to go through to get equal respect, representation, and remuneration. Sona Mohapatra directs tweet to Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal; addresses sexism in his alma mater

Artist and producer <keyword id="36091" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sona-Mohapatra">Sona Mohapatra</keyword> made her debut appearance on the iconic <keyword id="1219606" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Times-Square-billboard">Times Square billboard</keyword> in New York on Monday. She is one of the first independent musicians to be given this place as a pop-culture milestone. Sona said: "To be woken up in the middle of the night to see photographs of my face on a billboard covering a skyscraper in one of my favourite cities New York was a surreal feeling. Sona appeared on Times Square billboard as part of the Spotify 'EQUAL' global campaign leading the Indian leg. Sona Mohapatra becomes first independent Indian artist and producer to appear on Times Square billboard in New York

New Delhi, Feb 2 () The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) is working on guidelines for a National Seed Fund that was announced in the Budget for 2020-21 to help start-ups and budding entrepreneurs, a top government official said.
DPIIT Secretary Guruprasad Mohapatra said that most of the start-ups actually face problem in raising finance or funds in the ideation to the proof of concept stage. 
He said that now the finance minister has announced a proposal in the Budget on Saturday for providing seed fund to start-ups, the department will work on this.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman proposed to provide early life funding, including a seed fund to support ideation and development of early stage start-ups.
"So now we will move a Cabinet note and create a fund and guidelines in this regard," Mohapatra told .
He said that the department will work on a National Seed Fund policy and creation of the fund.
In their interactions with the department, start-ups have time and again demanded formulation of a national seed fund scheme.
Some states and central government departments like Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council have their own seed fund scheme but they are small and are not pan-India, the secretary said.
The department has already held discussions with states, and central government departments that have such schemes in this regard.
The secretary also said that the budget announcement regarding employee stock option plan (ESOP) will help start-ups in further strengthening startup ecosystem in the country.
"In order to give a boost to startup ecosystem, I propose to ease the burden of taxation on the employees by deferring the tax payment by five years or till they leave the company or when they sell, whichever is earliest," the finance minister has said.
 ESOP is a significant component of compensation for employees. Currently, it is taxable.
 On the budget, Mohapatra said that the need of the hour is to encourage investments and to that extant there are lot of positive things in the budget.

Asked about the same, Arya, who is director - International Original Film, India, Netflix, dubbed the story "fake news". "It's not a true story. There was no meeting at all. It's a fake news," she told reporters on Sunday evening. Arya was speaking at the panel discussion "Artistic Freedom: Mapping Out The Entertainment Story" at the Jio MAMI 21st Mumbai Film Festival with Star. "The more variety of stories there will be addressing it in different ways. Back in the days in those typical Indian films people didn't show men and women in their intimate moments, so it would come out in songs or some cheesy moments because they couldn't address it in a normal way. "Maybe political statements will be made but in a subtler, simpler, maybe more clever ways, that's not conventionally offensive.  Bollywood’s leading playback singer <keyword id="36091" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sona-Mohapatra">Sona Mohapatra</keyword> known for his hits Ambarsariya, Dil aaj kal and <keyword id="2513" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Naina">Naina</keyword> has recently accused IIT- Mumbai of being too sexist. In a <keyword id="6354576" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Facebook">Facebook</keyword> post on her profile, <keyword id="21604" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="mohapatra">Mohapatra</keyword> has written an open letter detailing the facts. IIT-B’s fest ‘Mood Indigo’ had asked her to perform with another male singer. While she insisted o performing solo, the managing committee refused to allow her to sing solo. What raises a major question is she victim of major conspiracy? 
 
In the open letter, she has also alleged that women performers across the country are victimized. “Go through your festival line-ups year after year, decade after decade &amp; you will see this clear as day. You are people with a scientific temper who understands statistics &amp; the like? You'll see the SAD truth slap you on the face. It's boys, boys &amp; only more boys.” (SIC) 
 
While Mood Indigo team has denied such allegations, the explanation reiterates the points raised by Mohapatra.
