Domestic short-format video app <keyword id="9292226" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mitron-TV">Mitron TV</keyword> on Tuesday said it has made its debut on iOS devices, enabling Apple users to create, upload, view and share one-minute videos. The app was first made available on the Android Play Store and in just six months, witnessed significant traction with over 39 million downloads. "Given the phenomenal response that Mitron TV has received on Android, I have no doubt that the app will be equally well-received on iOS," Shivank Agarwal, Co-Founder and CEO, Mitron said in a statement. After Google Play, TikTok-clone Mitron TV debuts on Apple App Store

New Delhi, May 30 (IANS) Mitron, the much touted desi version of TikTok, appears to have a "Pakistan connection" as the source code of the app was originally made by developers from Pakistan, the medi reported. This group from Pakistan, known as Qboxus, is selling "TicTic - Android media app for creating and sharing short videos v2.5" at the CodeCanyon platform for $34 (approximately Rs 2,567). It is now claimed that the Mitron app is a repackaged version of TicTic, which is a TikTok clone. "TikTok is bad, it's Chinese. Use Mitron instead Me: Folks, Mitron is a repackaged app made by a Pakistani company," an ethical hacker who goes by the name Elliot Alderson tweeted on Saturday. The popularity of Mitron rose after some people promoted it as a desi version of TikTok, with downloads of the app from Google Play now touching over 50 lakh. The description of the app on Google Play says that it is offered by MitronTV. "Mitron is a free Short Video and Social Platform based out of Bengaluru, India. It is designed for people to showcase their innovative videos inline with our theme of light humour," reads the description of the app. There is however, nothing wrong with what the team behind Mitron short video sharing app has done. New Delhi, June 2 (IANS) Mitron, the much-touted desi version of TikTok, has now been pulled down by Google from its Play Store for allegedly violating its spam and minimum functionality policy. According to Google's policy, an app "should provide value to users through the creation of unique content or services." "We don't allow apps that merely provide the same experience as other apps already on Google Play," the policy reads. The removal of the app came soon after reports emerged that the Mitron app is a repackaged version of TicTic, which is a TikTok clone. The app, which allows users to make short videos, also appears to have a "Pakistan connection" as the source code of the app was originally made by developers from Pakistan. This group from Pakistan, known as Qboxus, was found selling "TicTic - Android media app for creating and sharing short videos v2.5" at the CodeCanyon platform for $34. The popularity of Mitron app in India rose on the back of prevailing anti-China sentiment in the country due to border tensions in Ladakh. It is not unusual for suspended apps to reappear on Google Play Store. With the scrapping of Mitron and <keyword id="9323566" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="remove-china-apps">Remove China Apps</keyword> from its Play Store gaining a lot of attention in India, Google on Thursday said that it removed a video app "for a number of technical policy violations", while adding that it also does not allow an app that "encourages or incentivizes users into removing or disabling third-party apps". Both the apps became immensely popular in India within a short span of time due to the prevailing anti-China sentiment amid border tensions between India and China in Ladakh and calls by Indian activists to boycott Chinese products. Reports suggested that the <keyword id="9295797" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="mitron-app">Mitron app</keyword> is a repackaged version of TicTic, which is a TikTok clone. The Remove China Apps was designed to help users identify applications of Chinese origin. Without naming the apps, Google hinted that the Mitron app may make a come back on the Play Store once it fixes some technical issues, but the chances of the Remove China Apps are thin. "We have an established process of working with developers to help them fix issues and resubmit their apps. We've given this developer (of the video app) some guidance and once they've addressed the issue the app can go back up on Play," Sameer Samat, Vice President, Android and Google Play, said in a statement. Google said that its Android app store was designed to provide a safe and secure experience for the consumers while also giving developers the platform and tools they need to build sustainable businesses. Samat said that Google Play recently suspended a number of apps for violating the policy that it does not allow an app that "encourages or incentivizes users into removing or disabling third-party apps or modifying device settings or features unless it is part of a verifiable security service". "This is a longstanding rule designed to ensure a healthy, competitive environment where developers can succeed based upon design and innovation. When apps are allowed to specifically target other apps, it can lead to behaviour that we believe is not in the best interest of our community of developers and consumers," Samat said. "We've enforced this policy against other apps in many countries consistently in the past - just as we did here," he added. San Francisco, June 17 (IANS) Apples App Store has removed Chinese video app Zynn, a clone of the hugely popular video app TikTok, following accusations of plagiarism. The app was taken down from Googles Play Store last week. A spokesperson for Zynn told The Verge that its issues with plagiarism were minor, and that the company was "in communication with both Google and Apple to ensure compliance with their guidelines and regulations." Zynn arrived on iOS and Android in early May and quickly reached the top of the download charts. By the end of May, the app had become the most downloaded free iOS app and a top 10 download in the Google Play Store. Part of the reason for this rapid growth is the app's rewards programme where users got paid for watching videos and also to get other users on the app, said the report. Several TikTok users have reported that their entire account has been plagiarised. That includes profile pictures, names, and the above-mentioned content, sometimes going back months, reports Wired. Zynn arrived on iOS and Android in early May and quickly rose to the top of the download charts. By the end of May, the app had become the most downloaded free iOS app and a top 10 download in the Google Play Store. Part of the reason for this rapid growth is the app's rewards programme where users got paid for watching videos and also to get other users on the app. Users earn $1 for signing up, $20 for the first person they get to join, and $10 for every five users afterward. Google has yet to offer an explanation for the app's removal. Zynn, however, is still available on iOS App Store. Earlier, Google Play Store removed another TikTok rival app Mitron. Faisal Siddiqui — Prince of Team Nawab who had 13.5 million followers — was accused of encouraging acid attacks on women in his latest video. TikTok suspended Siddiqui’s account for violating “multiple community terms.” A week later, <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/tv/news/hindi/amir-siddiqui-on-suspension-of-his-tiktok-account-i-follow-community-guidelines-and-dont-intend-to-hurt-anyone/articleshow/75974539.cms">TikTok account of Amir Siddiqui was also suspended</a> for “violating multiple community guidelines.” A large number of people have called for a ban on the app as they believe it promotes violence, crime and pornography. Millions of people in India are bombarding the app with a 1-star rating along with negative comments on the Google Play Store so much so that the overall rating was down to 1.2 stars from 4.5 stars within the span of a few days. TikTok received <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/tech/news/tiktok-gogole-play-ratings-fall-to-1-3-stars-after-4-million-comments/articleshow/75842653.cms">as many as 4 million new comments</a> on Google Play Store — with most of them being negative. The ratings, however, improved to 1.4 after an estimated 7 million reviews disappeared from the Play Store. Experts told Business Insider that the app won’t be removed from the Play Store because of its rating — but this will have a severe impact on its future downloads.Previously, TikTok was briefly banned in India last year by the Madras High Court after it was accused of letting users post obscene content <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/indian-court-bans-tiktok-for-encouraging-porn-2019-4?IR=T">that encouraged ‘pornography</a>’.
