However, India fails to follow the law of its land. As per a 2019 report by SaveLIFE Foundation, less than 1% of people in India use rear seat belts. 37.8% of all the people surveyed didn’t even know that any such legal compulsion existed. While 23.9% of people didn’t even know that rear seat belts existed. The centre has also made it compulsory for all cars to have six airbags across from October 1. After losing his ‘good friend,’ minister Gadkari said that all cars exported out of India have 6 airbags and asked then why Indian cars have only four airbags. What India can learn from other countries In 1997, Sweden adopted a ‘Vision Zero’ policy based on the idea that “no loss of life was acceptable.” The policy did not focus on changing human behaviour, the emphasis was on designing a better system of roads and other infrastructure, vehicle technology and enforcement. On the other hand, Singapore uses advanced warning lights that alert drivers about the upcoming signal and vehicle speed. <a href="https://www.forbes.com/sites/peterlyon/2020/08/27/frightening-consequences-for-drink-drivers-in-japan/">Japan </a>also has a strict policy for drunken drivers. It has a zero percent blood-alcohol level standard for drivers and individuals caught driving under the influence can face imprisonment for up to 15 years. In Switzerland, passengers travelling in the same car as a drunk driver are also considered liable and can lose their own licenses. Apart from strictly enforcing speed limits and other road regulations, Norway has found a unique approach to reduce its fatalities. It has made it mandatory for drivers to always have their headlights on while driving. Safety measures taken by automakers From installing airbags and adding stringent seatbelt alarms to running awareness campaigns, automakers have been trying to up safety for India’s car passengers. Maruti, Hyundai and Tata Motors offer six airbags across some models. Luxury car companies like Mercedes-Benz, Audi and Volvo are also offering six airbags and the number increases on the higher-end models. Ideally one should drive at approximately not more than 30 kmph near busy places such as markets and residential areas.</li><li>Keep vehicle oiled and serviced. A sudden breakdown of the vehicle on the road can cause hardships not only to you but also to fellow drivers and traffic personnel. </li><li>Stop or slow down your vehicle and allow the pedestrians to crossroads at unmanned/signalled Zebra crossings.</li><li>Always wear seat belts while driving four-wheelers.</li><li>Avoid rash or negligent driving.</li><li>Do not drink and drive.</li><li>Avoid using mobile phones while driving. Equity benchmark indices rebounded in early trade on Thursday after falling in the previous two trading days, helped by foreign fund inflows and a largely positive trend in global markets. Sensex, Nifty in the green as crude prices soften

Even as <keyword id="42747" type="CITY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Tata-Motors">Tata Motors</keyword> has been looking for a new CEO for four months, two senior executives of the company, who had a crucial role in launching the Zest and the Bolt models in the passenger vehicle division, have resigned. 
 
The company confirmed that Ankush Arora, senior vice-president (commercial), and S Jayaraman, a senior executive of the product planning team, quit Tata Motors. 
 As the firm has been steadily losing market share, these launches will be crucial to drive its growth prospects. The models are part of the business revival strategy, planned by late <keyword id="152660" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Karl-Slym">Karl Slym</keyword>, the managing director who passed away earlier this year. 
 
 
The company has, however, played down the incident and said that there is “nothing out of the ordinary” in the development. 
 "Tata Motors has, in fact, one of the lowest attrition rates in the industry," a spokesperson said in an e-mail statement. "As far as plans ahead are concerned, <keyword id="155776" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Ranjit-Yadav">Ranjit Yadav</keyword>, as the head of the passenger vehicle business, is directly involved in the launch of our new cars, supported by a strong sales &amp; marketing team. This is backed by the product planning and programme side, a strong team led by Tata Motors’ veteran Girish Wagh, for the last 16 months." 
 
The company has witnessed a number of changes in its management in the recent years. These resignations come at a time when the hunt for Slym's successor is still on. Just a few weeks before tendering his resignation, Arora had talked about overhauling the sales and marketing at Tata Motors. 
 A similar development had taken place just before the launch of <keyword id="28810" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Nano">Nano</keyword> in 2009 when Rajiv Dube, president of the Tata Motors passenger vehicle division, left the company. 
 In another development, Stefan Berger, who was working with the group chairman, <keyword id="6356895" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Cyrus-Mistry">Cyrus Mistry</keyword>, following Slym's death, also left he company for ‘personal’ reason. 
 
 
Some of the company's zonal managers have joined other firms while many others could be looking to move on, according to inside sources.
