And with "no change in gameday coaching responsibilities for the staff," Kiffin essentially remained the head coach from afar.</p><p>Turns out his presence wasn't necessary to Ole Miss' success. He'll earn $150,000 for each <keyword id="11898795" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="sec" source="Orion">SEC</keyword> foe Ole Miss takes down this year beginning with its fifth conference win, plus he'll be eligible for $150,000 if his Rebels advance to the SEC Championship game.</p><p>Should they win, he'll get $400,000. Marjorie Taylor Greene is set for one of the highest profile roles in her short career if the GOP rams through the impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas during an expected vote on Tuesday evening.</p><p>Greene is set to serve as one of 11 House impeachment managers who would be responsible for presenting the case to the US Senate for convicting the first Cabinet secretary in nearly 150 years. House managers are responsible for formally presenting arguments to the Senate during a trial in which senators become akin to jurors.</p><p>Republicans have <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/alejandro-mayorkas-impeachment-explainer-house-republicans-immigration-border-2024-1">controversially accused Mayorkas of two charges</a> that allege he has refused to enforce US immigration law and has breached public trust. Mayorkas and the Biden administration have strenuously denied the allegations. Democrats have also pointed out that even some conservative legal scholars are opposed to the GOP's case, which is based on disagreements with the Biden administration's immigration policies. Scholars have pointed out that policy disagreements don't reach the constitutional bar for impeachment.</p><p>Past impeachment managers have used high-profile Senate trials to further their careers, which is all the more remarkable in Greene's case considering the trajectory of her short time in Congress. Sen. Lindsey Graham was one of the House managers for then-President Bill Clinton's trial. Rep. Adam Schiff, a California Democrat, furthered his national rise during then-President Donald Trump's first impeachment trial.</p><p>Not long after she arrived in Washington, House Democrats and 11 Republicans <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/house-strips-marjorie-taylor-greene-of-committee-assignments-2021-2">voted to strip Greene of committee assignments</a> amid a wave of criticism of her past statements, which included a question about whether the September 11th attacks were real, pushed the QAnon conspiracy, and called for the assassination of some Democratic lawmakers. Greene said that the statements no longer represented her views. <a target="_blank" href="https://www.politico.com/news/2021/06/14/greene-holocaust-omar-censure-494441">She later apologized</a> after she sparked more criticism for comparing COVID-19-era restrictions to the Holocaust.</p><p>Kevin McCarthy's rise to the House speakership offered Greene another chance. Her committee assignments were restored and she became a key liaison to some conservative lawmakers. Still, she grated on some of her colleagues for actions like <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/house-democrat-censure-mtg-marjorie-taylor-greene-hunter-biden-photos-2023-7">showing nude photos of Hunter Biden</a> during a House hearing. <p><div class="KonaFilter image-container float_right"><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div>Apparently, college students aren't so great with money.</p><p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">In a 2015 <a href="http://moneymattersoncampus.org/">survey of 42,000 American college students</a>, <keyword id="6355445" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Education">education</keyword> technology company EverFi and financial aid disbursement company Higher One found that teens are increasingly less likely to make smart decisions regarding their personal finances, such as: </span></p><ul><li><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">paying credit card bills on time</span></li><li><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">following a budget</span></li><li><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">reviewing their bills ... at </span>all</li></ul><p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">When asked six basic questions about topics such as setting aside emergency savings and paying off student loans, freshmen at four-year colleges could only answer about two, on average.</span></p><p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">At the University of Mississippi, however, some students are getting a leg up.</span></p><p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">The university ("Ole Miss") has partnered with Regions B</span>ank<span style="line-height: 1.5em;"> to create and offer a six-week personal finance course to help students learn how to be successful with their money in the future.</span></p><p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">We first saw this news via the <a href="http://www.clarionledger.com/story/news/2015/03/31/ole-miss-pilot-student-athlete-finance/70718716/">Clarion Ledger</a>, which writes that about 35 students will take the course this spring, and another 125 will enroll this summer.</span></p><p> Wondering what exactly they'll study? Here's the full curriculum, published with Region Bank's permission (select bolding for emphasis is ours):</p><h3>Collegiate Financial Education Curriculum</h3><p style="padding-left: 30px;"><strong>Week 1 - Banking Basics for Students</strong></p><p style="padding-left: 30px;">During the first week, we will begin to introduce the essentials of money management. We will cover information that students may not have received before college. This ranges from <strong>the basics of how checking and savings accounts work - to how students can make financial decisions that will benefit them in both the short-term and long-term.</strong></p><p style="padding-left: 30px;">So many times, we see how once a student simply discovers the fundamentals of money management, they are empowered to make wise choices that can really help them take control of their financial futures.</p><p style="padding-left: 30px;"><strong>Week 2 - EverFi Module</strong></p><p style="padding-left: 30px;">Regions began working with education technology company EverFi in 2010 with the launch of the Regions Bank Financial Scholars Program in high schools. Since then, our partnership with EverFi has grown to serve higher education and adults as well.</p><p style="padding-left: 30px;">In week 2, we'll begin using interactive modules that are personalized to each student based on his or her needs and goals. These cover a range of scenarios and topics such as <strong>paying for school and planning for life after graduation.</strong></p><p style="padding-left: 30px;"><strong>Week 3 - Regions Scholars and Dollars</strong></p><p style="padding-left: 30px;">Regions Scholars and Dollars is a program that was developed to teach banking in a classroom setting. The students will learn about <strong>different methods of banking</strong> and will complete worksheets to assist with their understanding.</p><p style="padding-left: 30px;"><strong>Week 4 - Reality Fair</strong></p><p style="padding-left: 30px;">This is a chance for students to walk through real-life scenarios and begin applying what they have learned. <strong>Each student athlete will be given a "dummy" check-book and check register to learn how to manage their monthly expenses and account for their additions and deductions for expenses throughout the month.</strong> Students will be given a monthly stipend. They will visit booths that represent housing, utilities, cell phone and groceries.</p><p style="padding-left: 30px;">Once the students make their selections at each booth, they will write the dollar amount in their check registers to facilitate the learning process of how to balance a checkbook. As we know, life happens, therefore, throughout the fair, random events will happen to some of the students.</p><p style="padding-left: 30px;">For example, when life happens, it can be a positive. Maybe it is someone's birthday, and their grandmother sent them $50. They can add that $50 to their check register. However, a student may park in faculty/staff parking one day and receive a $25 parking ticket. To this day, he is the best-selling solo artist in the history of recorded music.</p></div><p></p></div></div>What exactly do we mean when we call someone "cool?" Most would struggle to describe it, but just about everyone knows "cool" when they see it. It is a distinctly American invention that finds its roots in African-American culture, Jazz, and the multitude of icons that the American fame machine has produced. </p>
<p class="p1">A new exhibition and book, <a href="http://www.amazon.com/American-Cool-Joel-Dinerstein/dp/3791353497">"American Cool,"</a> currently on display at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington D.C., traces the origins of "cool." It also includes a look at the 100 "coolest" Americans of all time.</p>
<p class="p1">To decide who made the list, curators Frank H. Goodyear III, the co-director of the Bowndown College Museum of Art, and Joel Dinerstein, the director of the American Studies program at Tulane University, engaged in a vigorous debate based on four criteria. </p>
<p class="p1"><span>Dinerstein explained to PBS Newshour: </span>"First <a href="http://www.pbs.org/newshour/art/kerouac-cobain-and-the-photos-that-define-american-cool/?utm_source=facebook&amp;utm_medium=pbsofficial&amp;utm_campaign=newshour">an originality of artistic vision as established through a signature style</a>, which is to say their artistic vision cannot be separate from their personality. Second, that in a given historical moment, they were perceived as a cultural rebel. Third, that they have high profile recognition. Fourth, that they have a recognized cultural legacy."</p>
<p class="p1">While the usual suspects are featured, including James Dean, Jimi Hendrix, and Hunter S. Thompson, there are many less obvious faces on the "cool" list as well. All are, however, what Dinerstein calls,<span style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 1.5em;">"the successful rebels of American culture."</span></p>
