The country's sixth biggest IT services company by revenues, <keyword id="13843427" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="ltimindtree" source="Orion">LTIMindtree</keyword>, reported a decline in September quarter net profit at Rs 1,162 crore. The city-headquartered company had a net profit of Rs 1,189 crore in the year-ago period, and the same stood at Rs 1,152 crore in the preceding June quarter. Its overall revenues grew 8.2% to Rs 8,905 crore for the reporting quarter, from Rs 8,228 crore in the year-ago period and Rs 8,702 crore in the June quarter. However, there was a sharper contraction in the operating profit margin to 16%, as against 17.5% in the year-ago period, which seems to have been the biggest reason for the decline in the overall profits. The company's managing director and chief executive <keyword id="214484" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Debashis-Chatterjee" source="Orion">Debashis Chatterjee</keyword> said the margins were impacted by the wage hikes given out from July 1, and exuded confidence of gains on the same to exit the fiscal year at 17-18%. He said the company is not witnessing any pressures on margins despite the volatile economic environment at present. Deal pipeline is also flowing, and the company reported new wins of USD 1.3 billion for the reporting quarter, he said, adding that discretionary demand is being replaced with long-term engagements focused on cost optimization. The overall employee base increased to 83,532 at the end of September, which was up from 82,738 in June, but down from 86,936 in the year-ago period. Chatterjee said 1,400 freshers joined in the reporting quarter, and the attrition is stable at 15.2%. The company will be training 10,000 of its employees on artificial intelligence in the December quarter, Chatterjee said, adding that it is already engaged in 20 projects which have generative AI components in it. The company scrip closed 1.11% down at Rs 5,156.90 a piece on the BSE, as against a correction of 0.83% on the benchmark.

LTIMindtree Q2 net profit declines as profit margin contracts

Mindtree, a <keyword id="147676" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="larsen" source="Orion">Larsen</keyword> &amp; Toubro Group company, is planning to set up a development centre in <keyword id="6354925" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="kolkata" source="Orion">Kolkata</keyword>, which could create employment opportunities for 15,000-20,000 people in the next four-five years, a company official said here on Wednesday. The IT services firm has already onboarded 1,700 people in its existing facility in the West Bengal capital so far, he said. "We have taken up 19 acres of space. Hopefully, things will start. The construction will be done by L&amp;T... the management is committed. We will set up a huge centre," Mindtree Ltd Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director <keyword id="214484" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="debashis-chatterjee" source="Orion">Debashis Chatterjee</keyword> said at ICT East organised by CII. The development centre can create employment opportunities for 15,000-20,000 people, he said. The IT company had in March announced the opening of its first development centre in Kolkata. Another IT company of the L&amp;T group, Larsen and Toubro Infotech (LTI) had in June also announced opening up of a new centre in the eastern metropolis. Larsen and Toubro board had in May announced a composite scheme of amalgamation of its two listed IT services firms to create a combined entity. During the event, State Information Technology minister <keyword id="6721" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="babul-supriyo" source="Orion">Babul Supriyo</keyword> urged the industry leaders to guide his department about "what needs to be done" to grow the information and technology sector in West Bengal. Another multinational technology firm Oracle is also weighing opportunities in the state for a data centre project that could help small and medium businesses. Mindtree planning to set up development centre in Kolkata: CEO

The figures represent a significant 34 per cent increase in the overall deal volumes, while deal values more than doubled (with a 143 per cent increase) from the same period last year, according to the <keyword id="10410446" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="grant-thornton-bharat" source="Orion">Grant Thornton Bharat</keyword> Dealtracker report. Driven by <keyword id="6357149" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="hdfc-bank" source="Orion">HDFC Bank</keyword> and <keyword id="83209" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="hdfc-ltd" source="Orion">HDFC Ltd</keyword>'s $40 billion merger, LTI and <keyword id="6357902" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="mindtree" source="Orion">Mindtree</keyword> merger ($17.7 billion) and Adani Group-Holcim Ltd's $10.5 billion deal, M&amp;A deal values recorded an over two times increase over H1 2021. These three deals alone accounted for 86 per cent of the total M&amp;A deal values in H1 2022. While private equity deal activity continued to dominate total deal volumes with 3/4th share, deal values were driven by mergers and acquisitions with 76 per cent of the total deal values in H1 2022. Startup, e-commerce and IT sectors led deal activity in H1 2022, driving 76 per cent of all deals followed by retail, education and pharma sectors. The M&amp;A space witnessed a significant increase in the first half, witnessing 284 deals while representing a 27 per cent growth over H1 2021. The banking and financial sector had the highest contribution of 53 per cent in terms of overall deal value in H1 2022, followed by IT and manufacturing sectors. The private equity and venture capital investments saw record volumes and values in the first six-month period with 865 deals at $25.1 billion. However, there was a 12 per cent and 15 per cent decrease in investment volumes and values over H2 2021 (the preceding six months), the report noted. "The drop in the deal values is due to a fall in big-ticket investments coupled with prevailing factors including geopolitical tensions, stock market volatility, concerns about the rise in commodity prices and the impact of inflation," the report noted. Nevertheless, large funds like <keyword id="526777" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="tiger-global" source="Orion">Tiger Global</keyword>, Westbridge, Baring PE, TPG, Brookfield, Blackstone and Warburg Pincus, among others, continued to keep pace with their activity. India sealed M&A deals worth $104.3 bn this year, raised $6 bn from IPOs

IT firm <keyword id="6357902" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="mindtree">Mindtree</keyword> on Tuesday reported a 61.2 per cent rise in consolidated net profit to Rs 343.4 crore for the June quarter compared to that of ₹213 crore in the same period last year. Revenue of the Bengaluru-based company grew by 20.1 per cent to ₹2,291.7 crore in the quarter under review from Rs 1,908.8 crore in the year-ago period, it added. In dollar terms, net profit rose by 64.7 per cent to USD 46.5 million while revenue grew by 22.6 per cent to USD 310.5 million in the June quarter over the year-ago period. At the end of June quarter, the company's active client base stood at 260, the filing said. Mindtree had 27,256 employees at the end of the June quarter with trailing 12-months attrition at 13.7 per cent. "We are pleased to report a strong start to FY22 with broad-based first-quarter growth across all service lines and industry segments," Mindtree CEO and Managing Director Debashis Chatterjee said. For the quarter, revenues were USD 310.5 million, up 7.7 per cent sequentially, and <keyword id="63060" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="EBITDA">EBITDA</keyword> was 20.3 per cent - demonstrating the resilience of Mindtree business in a challenging environment.
