"That was an extraordinary screening, and the audience response to Spike's movie was really electric in that room at Cannes; it was quite something."</p><h2 dir="ltr">'Tenet'</h2><div type="image" title="Tenet 1 Warner Bros" height="1459" width="2000" msid="77508236" hostid="261"></div><p dir="ltr">"Tenet" is undoubtedly Washington's biggest role to date with director Christopher Nolan pushing all the narrative as well as temporal boundaries to create a spy thriller like no other. </p><p dir="ltr">Speaking with <a href="https://www.msn.com/en-ca/entertainment/movies/news/john-david-washington-shares-first-reaction-to-reading-tenet-script/vi-BB18kr0r">ET Canada</a>, Washington said that it took him over four hours to read Nolan's time-bending script at which point he thought he understood the film's narrative arch. But he says that soon after they began production he realized there much more working than he thought. </p><p dir="ltr">"It took some time to catch up to Christopher Nolan and catch up to the concept of it," he said. "But once I did I felt very confident and comfortable."</p><p dir="ltr">John David's previous experience as a professional athlete, Nolan explains, was one of the key elements in his casting. <a href="https://www.esquire.com/entertainment/movies/a32617787/john-david-washington-tenet-denzel-son-life-story/">The director told Esquire:</a> "The film has more action than any film I've ever done. It has a plethora of action sequences that he's taken the lead in."</p><p dir="ltr">However, this hasn't been ideal for Washington's co-star, Robert Pattinson, <a href="https://www.irishtimes.com/culture/film/all-eyes-on-tenet-the-spy-movie-with-everything-to-prove-1.4318677">who told the Irish Times</a> that he could hardly keep up with John David during physically demanding scenes. "The maximum workout I do most of the time is a casual stroll. John David can run all day long," he said. <p>After launching a <a href="http://www.interstellarmovie.com/index.php" target="_blank">website</a> earlier this week, the <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nyc6RJEEe0U" target="_blank">first teaser trailer</a> for <keyword id="127480" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Christopher-Nolan">Christopher Nolan</keyword>'s largely anticipated space epic "<keyword id="1274004" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="interstellar">Interstellar</keyword>" is here, and we're not sure what to make of it.</p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">Following "<a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/category/gravity" target="_blank">Gravity</a>," Nolan </span><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">(the mind behind "Inception" and "The Dark Knight" trilogy) </span><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">obviously has some huge shoes to fill. </span></p>
<p><span>Unlike the Alfonso Cuaron odyssey, Nolan's film will find its space team traveling through a wormhole. The teaser gives very little away about actual space travel and instead plays out as an inspirational tribute / love letter to venturing among the stars in the great unknown.</span></p>

He did so for a very unexpected reason.</p><p>In the 1960s, Brando's career had slid into decline. His previous two movies - the famously over-budget "One-Eyed Jacks" and "Mutiny on the Bounty" - <a href="http://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/marlon-brando-declines-best-actor-oscar" target="_blank">tanked at the box office</a>. Some critics <a href="http://www.tcm.com/tcmdb/title/12737/Mutiny-on-the-Bounty/articles.html" target="_blank">said</a> "Mutiny" marked the end of Hollywood's golden age, and worse still, <a href="http://www.tcm.com/tcmdb/title/12737/Mutiny-on-the-Bounty/articles.html" target="_blank">rumors of Brando's unruly behavior on set</a> turned him into one of the least desirable actors to work with in some ways.</p><p>Brando's career needed saving. "The Godfather" was his defibrillator.</p><p>In the epic portrayal of a 1940s New York Mafia family directed by Francis Ford Coppola, Brando plays the patriarch, the original Don. Though the film follows his son Michael (played by Al Pacino), Vito Corleone is its spine. A ruthless, violent criminal, he loves and protects the family by any means necessary. It's the warmth of his humanity that makes him indestructible - a paradox shaped by Brando's remarkable performance.</p><p>"The Godfather" <a href="http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=godfather.htm" target="_blank">grossed nearly $135 million nationwide</a>, and is heralded as one of the greatest films of all time. <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/45th_Academy_Awards" target="_blank">Pinned against pinnacles of the silver screen</a> -<span style="line-height: 1.5em;"> Michael Caine, Laurence Olivier, and Peter O'Toole - Brando was favored to win Best Actor.</span></p><p>On the eve of the 45th Academy Awards, Brando announced that he would boycott the ceremony and send little-known actress <a href="http://www.sacheenlittlefeather.net/pages/1/index.htm" target="_blank">Sacheen Littlefeather</a> in his place. Their gaze fell on a woman in Apache dress, whose long, dark hair bobbed against her shoulders as she climbed the stairs.</p><p>Moore extended the award to Littlefeather, who waved it away with an open palm. She set a letter down on the podium, introduced herself, and <a href="http://aaspeechesdb.oscars.org/link/045-1/" target="_blank">said</a>:</p><p style="padding-left: 30px;">"I'm representing Marlon Brando this evening and he has asked me to tell you ... that he very regretfully cannot accept this very generous award. And the reasons for this being are the treatment of American Indians today by the film industry -"</p><p>The crowd booed. Littlefeather looked down and said "excuse me." Others in the audience began to clap, cheering her on. She continued only briefly, to "beg" that her appearance was not an intrusion and that they will "meet with love and generosity" in the future.</p><p>Watch the scene unfold:</p><h2>Why he did it</h2><p>In 1973, Native Americans had "virtually no representation in the film industry and were primarily used as extras," Native American studies scholar <a href="http://nativeamericanhistory.about.com/od/controversies/a/Brando-Littlefeather-And-The-Academy-Awards.htm" target="_blank">Dina Gilio-Whitaker wrote in a blog post on About.com</a>. Brando expressed support for the American Indian Movement and referenced the ongoing situation at Wounded Knee, where a team of 200 Oglala Lakota activists had occupied a tiny South Dakota town the previous month and was currently under siege by US military forces. He wrote:<p style="padding-left: 30px;">"The motion picture community has been as responsible as any for degrading the Indian and making a mockery of his character, describing him as savage, hostile, and evil. It's hard enough for children to grow up in this world. When Indian children ... see their race depicted as they are in films, their minds become injured in ways we can never know."</p><p>A tsunami of criticism toppled over Brando and Littlefeather following the Oscars, from <a href="http://insidemovies.ew.com/2013/01/19/sacheen-littlefeather/" target="_blank">peers in the industry</a><a href="http://insidemovies.ew.com/2013/01/19/sacheen-littlefeather/" target="_blank"> and the media</a>.</p><p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">Still, Brando <span>lent the Native American community a rare opportunity to raise awareness of their fight in front of </span><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0OPtfm5sOc" target="_blank">85 million viewers</a><span>, leveraging an entertainment platform for political justice in unprecedented fashion. <p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;"><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">"Chris said to me, in his casual way. 'So, Hans, if I wrote one page of something, didn't tell you what it was about, just give you one page, would you give me one day of work?'" Zimmer told Shone. "'Whatever you came up with on that one day would be fine.'"</span></span></p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">Zimmer agreed and then one day received a one-page typewritten letter. Per Shone:</span></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">On the paper was a short story, no more than a precis, about a father who leaves his child to do an important job. It contained two lines of dialogue - "I'll come back" "When?" - and quoted something Zimmer had said a year before, during a long conversation with Nolan and his wife at the Wolesley restaurant in London. ... "There was no movie to be made, there was no movie to discuss, we were talking about our children," said Zimmer, who has a 15-year-old son. "I said, 'once your children are born, you can never look at yourself through your eyes any more, you always look at yourself through their eyes."</p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">Zimmer spent a day composing the theme and then showed it to Nolan, and Nolan loved it. It was only then that Nolan revealed what kind of movie he had in mind. As Zimmer told Shone:</span></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><span style="line-height: 1.5em;"><span>"I asked him, 'Well, yes, but what is the movie?' And he started describing this huge, epic tale of space and science and humanity, on this epic scale. I'm going, 'Chris, hang on, I've just written this highly personal thing, you know?' He goes, 'Yes, but I now know where the heart of the movie is'. Everything about this movie was personal.'"</span></span></p>

<p>On March 5, 1973, Marlon Brando <a href="http://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/marlon-brando-declines-best-actor-oscar" target="_blank">declined the Academy Award for Best Actor</a> for his gut-wrenching performance as Vito Corleone in "The Godfather" - for a very unexpected reason.</p>
<p>Here's how it went down.</p>
<h3>The Movie That Brought Brando Back</h3>
<p>In the 1960s, Brando's career had slid into decline. His previous two movies  - the famously over-budget "One-Eyed Jacks" and "Mutiny on the Bounty" - <a href="http://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/marlon-brando-declines-best-actor-oscar" target="_blank">tanked at the box office</a>. Critics <a href="http://www.tcm.com/tcmdb/title/12737/Mutiny-on-the-Bounty/articles.html" target="_blank">said</a> "Mutiny" marked the end of Hollywood's golden age, and worse still, <a href="http://www.tcm.com/tcmdb/title/12737/Mutiny-on-the-Bounty/articles.html" target="_blank">rumors of Brando's unruly behavior on set</a> turned him into one of the least desirable actors to work with.</p>
<p>Brando's career needed saving. "The Godfather" was his defibrillator.</p>
<p>In the epic portrayal of a 1940s New York Mafia family, Brando played the patriarch, the original Don. Though the film follows his son Michael (played by Al Pacino), Vito Corleone is its spine. A ruthless, violent criminal, he loves and protects the family by any means necessary. It's the warmth of his humanity that makes him indestructible - a paradox shaped by Brando's remarkable performance.</p>
<p>"The Godfather" <a href="http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=godfather.htm" target="_blank">grossed nearly $135 million nationwide</a>, and is heralded as one of the greatest films of all time. <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/45th_Academy_Awards" target="_blank">Pinned against pinnacles of the silver screen</a><span style="line-height: 1.5em;"> - Michael Caine, Laurence Olivier, and Peter O'Toole - Brando was favorited to win Best Actor. </span></p>
<h3>Drama At The Awards Show</h3>
<p>On the eve of the 45th Academy Awards, Brando announced that he would boycott the ceremony and send <a href="http://www.sacheenlittlefeather.net/pages/1/index.htm" target="_blank">Sacheen Littlefeather</a> in his place. A little-known actress, she was then-president of the National Native American Affirmative Image Committee.</p>

Their gaze fell on a woman in Apache dress, whose long, dark hair bobbed against her shoulders as she climbed the stairs.</p>
<p>Moore extended the award to Littlefeather, who waved it away with an open palm. She set a letter down on the podium, introduced herself, and <a href="http://aaspeechesdb.oscars.org/link/045-1/" target="_blank">said</a>:</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">"I'm representing Marlon Brando this evening and he has asked me to tell you ... that he very regretfully cannot accept this very generous award. And the reasons for this being are the treatment of American Indians today by the film industry -"</p>
<p>The crowd booed. Littlefeather looked down and said "excuse me." Others in the audience began to clap, cheering her on. She continued only briefly, to "beg" that her appearance was not an intrusion and that they will "meet with love and generosity" in the future.</p>

<h3>Why He Did It</h3>
<p>In 1973, Native Americans had "virtually no representation in the film industry and were primarily used as extras," Native American studies scholar <a href="http://nativeamericanhistory.about.com/od/controversies/a/Brando-Littlefeather-And-The-Academy-Awards.htm" target="_blank">Dina Gilio-Whitaker writes</a>. "Leading roles depicting Indians in several generations of Westerns were almost always given to white actors."</p>
<p>But they weren't just neglected or replaced in film; they were disrespected - a realization that crippled Brando's image of the industry.</p>

Brando expressed support for the American Indian Movement and referenced the ongoing situation at Wounded Knee, where a team of 200 Oglala Lakota activists had occupied a tiny South Dakota town the previous month and was currently under siege by U.S. military forces. <span style="line-height: 1.5em;">He wrote:</span></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">"<strong>The motion picture community has been as responsible as any for degrading the Indian and making a mockery of his character</strong>, describing him as savage, hostile and evil. It's hard enough for children to grow up in this world. When Indian children ... see their race depicted as they are in films, their minds become injured in ways we can never know."</p>
<p>A tsunami of criticism toppled over Brando and Littlefeather following the Oscars, from <a href="http://insidemovies.ew.com/2013/01/19/sacheen-littlefeather/" target="_blank">peers in the industry</a><a href="http://insidemovies.ew.com/2013/01/19/sacheen-littlefeather/" target="_blank"> and the media</a>.</p>

<p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><img src="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/57a8d2fece38f235008b55c4-2167/bridgeswhiterussian.jpg" alt="jeff bridges" data-mce-source="Getty"><p class="source"><span>Getty</span></p></img></div><p></p></div></div>For a remarkable six decades, Jeff Bridges has entertained us, from being one of Hollywood's most promising young talents in "The Last Picture Show" to earning his own generation of cult followers with "The Big Lebowski."<p>Now at 66, Bridges has his much-deserved Oscar (for the 2009 film "Crazy Heart"),&#xa0;and though he doesn't get the same leading roles he used to, you can still see his greatness in his latest movie&#xa0;"<a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2582782/?ref_=nv_sr_1" target="_blank">Hell or High Water</a>" (opening in theaters Friday).</p><p>Playing Marcus Hamilton, a Texas Ranger who's one job away from retiring, Bridges delivers his best performance since "Crazy Heart," mixing comedy and drama perfectly in a story (written by "<a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3397884/?ref_=nv_sr_1" target="_blank">Sicario</a>" screenwriter Taylor Sheridan) whose backdrop is a bleak Texas where open carry gun laws are welcomed following&#xa0;a string of bank robberies&#xa0;committed by brothers (Chris Pine&#xa0;and Ben Foster).</p><p>Business Insider talked to Bridges about "Hell or High Water," a "The Big Lebowski" sequel, and living in a set from one of his movies.</p><p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><img src="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/57a8b2afdb5ce94f008b5546-1160/hell-or-high-water-cbs%20films.jpg" alt="Hell or High Water CBS Films" data-mce-source="CBS Films"><p class="source"><span>CBS Films</span></p><p class="caption">(L-R) Jeff Bridges and Gil Birmingham in "Hell or High Water."</p></img></div><p></p></div></div><strong>Jason Guerrasio: You have often said that you resist working as much as possible, so what was it that made you sign onto "Hell or High Water"?</strong><p><strong>Jeff Bridges:</strong> It was the script. Taylor Sheridan I think wrote a very good script. It reeked&#xa0;of authenticity. He seemed like a guy who knew what he was talking about and it turned out that Taylor's uncle is a Marshal, so he knew things from that side. And then seeing David Mackenzie's work in "<a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2567712/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1" target="_blank">Starred Up,</a>" I thought that was a wonderful film. So I thought bringing those two together, odds are you're going to come up with something pretty good.</p><p><strong>Guerrasio: Was the Marcus character laid out for you on the page, or did you have to find him?</strong></p><p><strong>Bridges:</strong> No, it was pretty much on the page there. And it was fortunate for all of us to have Joaquin Jackson, who is a very renowned Texas Ranger, on board. He spent quite a few days with us on set and he added a lot to it for me on what it's like to be a Texas Ranger.</p><p><strong>Guerrasio: Was his input more the repartee the partners have or the hunches the Rangers have?</strong></p><p><strong>Bridges:</strong> It's funny, the repartee was all in the script, but what he brought was more the demeanor. It's not so much the words, it's being in his presence. It's hard to describe.</p><p><strong>Guerrasio: The swagger of a Texas Ranger?</strong></p><p><strong>Bridges:</strong> It's almost anti-swagger. It's hard to describe. You have to be around it. But certainly confidence but also a vulnerability. It's fascinating.</p><p><strong>Guerrasio: What do you feel is the biggest thing you brought to the character?</strong></p><p><strong>Bridges:</strong> Well, I guess without boasting, my talent as an actor. It's the same assignment on every part, you want to create a real world, and the tone of it is a little different on each movie. You have to find your tone and work within that to make it as real so the audience can really engage in the story you're telling.</p><p><strong>Guerrasio: I feel a movie like this already has two strikes against it because you're making a modern Western and a bank heist movie, two genres that have been done to death. So were you surprised to find that this brought some originality to the genre?</strong></p><p><strong>Bridges:</strong> Yeah, it's not your typical bank heist movie. It has a lot of ambiguity to it as far as right and wrong depending on whose point of view you've got. You got these guys who are robbing banks, that's traditionally thought of as a bad thing to do, then you have these banks that are loaning poor people money that they know very well they won't be able to pay back and they then take their land with oil on it.</p><p><div><iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/JQoqsKoJVDw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div></p><p><strong>Guerrasio: Can you feel on set when a movie is going to be good?</strong></p><p><strong>Bridges:</strong> Sometimes. Not all the time. But sometimes you feel you're making something really special and when it comes out you might still feel that way but for some reason it doesn't get the audience. So many things have to come together to get a creatively successful and financially successful film. Sometimes you'll have a movie that you're very proud of and you think it transcended all of your expectations but it doesn't come out at the right time. I have done movies that have never been released. That can be depressing.</p><p><strong>Guerrasio: Are you still bugged that a certain movie of yours didn't get an audience?</strong></p><p><strong>Bridges:</strong> Yeah, there's one that was originally called "The Moguls" and then it was retitled "<a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0405163/?ref_=nv_sr_1" target="_blank">The Amateurs.</a>" It's a wonderful movie, it makes me laugh. Check it out. Ted Danson is in it and Joey Pantoliano, it's about a small town making a porn movie.</p><p><strong>Guerrasio: Are you currently filming the "Kingsman" sequel?</strong></p><p><strong>Bridges:</strong> No. I finished that and now I'm in New Mexico making a movie called "<a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3829920/?ref_=nv_sr_1" target="_blank">Granite Mountain.</a>"</p><p><strong>Guerrasio: Anything about the character you play in "Kingsman" that you can talk about?</strong></p><p><strong>Bridges:</strong> I'm playing the head of the organization called Statesman, which is the United States version of Kingsman. I'm like how Michael Caine was in the original.</p><p><strong>Guerrasio: I love to hear the big roles actors of your stature pass on. Is it true you were considered for the lead role in "<a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0094737/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1" target="_blank">Big</a>"?</strong></p><p><strong>Bridges:</strong> Yeah.</p><p><strong>Guerrasio: What happened?</strong></p><p><strong>Bridges:</strong> Gee, I don't know. I remember going out for it. This is many, many years ago. It was shortly after "<a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088172/?ref_=nv_sr_1" target="_blank">Starman</a>" I think. I don't know how close I was to getting the part. I met with [director] Penny Marshall and that's one that I knew would be a hit. It just felt hit-ish. But it's like you go to a store and you see a jacket and you go "I love that jacket" and you try it on and it's too big or too small for you and it's the only one they have. For some reason that part just didn't fit me.</p><p><strong>Guerrasio: So was it a mix of you and Penny saying, "It's not going to work?"</strong></p><p><strong>Bridges:</strong> I can't remember if it was both our ends or what, but it didn't feel like a right fit for me. Have you heard of this?</strong></p><p><strong>Bridges:</strong> I've heard that for years, John saying that. I think it's a great idea.</p><p><strong>Guerrasio: So you would jump in as The Dude if he called on you?</strong></p><p><strong>Bridges:</strong> Yeah, it might be fun playing a little cameo as The Dude. It might be good. But I'm hoping they will make a little Lebowski [sequel] because it's all set up. I impregnated Maude, &#xa0;you know. As The Stranger says, there's a little Lebowski on the way, &#xa0;you know?</p><p><strong>Guerrasio: So you're totally up for doing that character again?</strong></p><p><strong>Bridges:</strong> If the Coen brothers called me, I would have to consider that seriously, sure.</p><p><strong>Guerrasio: You worked with director&#xa0;Michael Cimino numerous times. With his <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/r-deer-hunter-director-michael-cimino-dies-aged-77-2016-7">recent passing</a>, give me your favorite Cimino story.</strong></p><p><strong>Bridges:</strong> Oh, well. You know, I did his first movie, "<a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0072288/?ref_=nv_sr_1" target="_blank">Thunderbolt and Lightfoot,</a>" and I remember I was still in my twenties and very nervous, we're shooting up in Montana, and I'm thinking, "What the hell am I doing here? I don't feel anything like this part. Maybe this first-time director made a mistake hiring me." And finally I confessed that to Mike a couple of days before we shot. I was like, "What am I doing here, Mike?" And Mike just looked at me, in that very directorial manor, took a long pause, and he said, "You know the game tag?" And I said, "Yeah." And he said, "Well, you're it." That was some of the best direction I think I've ever received. I've done quite a few movies since then, I generally can feel that I'm not right for the role or a general fear if I can pull it off, and him giving that "tag" so to speak gave me the confidence. Like that Miles Davis line, "Don't worry about mistakes, there aren't any." Once you are the part, you're the guy, so you can't not be the guy because you're it. [<em>Laughs</em>]</p><p><strong>Guerrasio: Numerous Cimino titles are legendary, but do you think he still had movies in him at the time of his passing?</strong></p><p><strong>Bridges:</strong> I don't know. I was reading something about that and it was revealing where he said, "The problem with people understanding my movies is they think I'm a filmmaker, but I'm not a filmmaker." [<em>Laughs</em>] Somehow there's a lot of mystery in that because he certainly made some wonderful films. But he had an interesting path. He wasn't the typical filmmaker. I don't know if he had more in him, he certainly had a lot of scripts. I know he wrote a hell of a lot.</p><p><strong>Guerrasio: Were you two still talking?</strong></p><p><strong>Bridges:</strong> I hadn't talked to him in many, many years. He got a bad rap on "Heaven's Gate." I actually live in the hog ranch from "Heaven's Gate" in Montana. Mike gave me that set, the whorehouse, that's my house.</p><p><strong>Guerrasio: [<em>Laughs</em>] You live in the whorehouse from "Heaven's Gate"?</strong></p><p><strong>Bridges:</strong> Yeah, that's right. And every couple of years we'll watch the movie and it's like watching home movies, seeing the ranch on-screen. <p>BHH: I got a call out of the blue to audition to double for Daniel Craig in "Quantum of Solace." It was a dream come true. I went in for four or five vigorous exercise auditions; six weeks turned into six months, and I've never looked back.</p>
<p><strong>BI: What's a typical audition test like?</strong></p>
<p>BHH: It could be something very specific: dive through a car, fight someone, be thrown into a wall. It depends on your speciality and the shot they're looking for.</p>
<p><strong style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 1.5em;">BI: Do you ever dress for the part at an audition?</strong></p>
<p>BHH: First impressions are very, very important in what we do, so I make an effort to make myself look like the performer as much as possible. When I heard there was a possibility that the stunt coordinator on "Thor: The Dark World" wanted me to double for Chris Hemsworth [who's 6'4"], I got some two-inch lifts for my boots and started training in them. It's like trying to do stunts in high heels.</p>

How'd you keep up?</strong></p>
<p>BHH: Chris is in the best shape of any actor I've seen. He's got huge arms and great coordination. I've never had to train so much in all my life - three hours each session, twice a day, six days a week. If Chris wasn't an actor, he'd be one of the top stuntmen around.</p>
<p><strong>BI: What's your relationship like with the actors you're doubling for?</strong></p>
<p>BHH: If it's a stunt-heavy show, you're generally with the actor every day. We train, rehearse, and shoot with them, so you kind of become a family. It's like, "You've got my back, and I've got yours."</p>
<p><strong>BI: What was it like working with Chris Hemsworth again?</strong></p>
<p>BHH: He's a legend. You can't say anything but nice things about the guy. We're both fans of Ricky Gervais, so we have a lot of laughs on set. You can't always be super serious when the job is so intense.</p>
<p><strong>BI: What can you tell us about "Thor: The Dark World"?</strong></p>
<p>BHH: Lots of fights, lots of wire work. Every day, there was a big-scale or difficult stunt to do. It's going to be action-packed, as you can imagine a "Thor" movie would be.</p>

<p>BHH: On "The Dark Knight Rises," when I was Bruce Wayne, I had to climb out of the prison he's in and jump, miss the landing, fall 100 feet, and slam into the opposite wall. It was one of my first ever high-falls, a 100-footer, which is quite a nice feat to achieve for a stunt performer.</p>
<p>And on the set of "Quantum of Solace" in Panama, I had to free jump - no safety wires, no safety mats - from a three-story ledge onto a balcony space <em>while</em> I was being shot at by a SWAT team.</p>
<p><strong>BI: Do you still get scared before performing a stunt?</strong></p>
<p>BHH: If I heard a stunt performer say, "I don't get scared," I wouldn't believe it. There is an element of fear, but that quickly turns into an adrenaline rush that makes you want to do it even more.</p>
<p><strong>BI: We heard there's another accolade you're particularly proud of - you're a Guinness World Records holder?</strong></p>
<p>BHH: Ha, it's a funny story. When I was a gymnast in the U.K., on our breaks, we used to put these little foam blocks between our feet while doing back-somersaults, and let go and try to hit each other with them. I could get it into a basketball net. It was a cool trick, and I thought it would be a good idea to approach Guinness and pitch the record idea to them. They jumped on it and came down to the studios to see how many I could dunk in an hour. Two-hundred and fifty back-somersaults and 24 hoops in an hour - I'd quite like to see someone attempt it.</p>

Who do you lean on?</strong></p>
<p>BHH: It's funny because if I call friends or family, they just say, "Stop moaning!" But my mum is always there for me, and I can tell her anything. She keeps me on top of my game.</p>
<p><strong>BI: Whose costume is most fun to wear: Batman, Thor, or <keyword id="17991" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="James-Bond">James Bond</keyword>'s?</strong></p>
<p>BHH: Obviously, Batman and Thor have the standout costumes of my childhood dreams. They were the most enjoyable, but the nicest costume you can have is a T-shirt and pair of trousers with shoes. No wig, no make-up.</p>
<p><strong style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 1.5em;">BI: Best job perk?</strong></p>
<p>You get to be in scenes with the likes of Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and Gary Oldman ("The Dark Knight Rises"), who are heroes of mine. And every now and then, we get a small acting role.</p>

<p>BHH: I don't want to push my luck. I like that I can go to work with amazing people, do a job that I love, and as soon as it's finished, I can go home and it's just me. When actors become big, they can't really be themselves anymore. Trying to maintain and control a personal life is probably as difficult as the job itself.</p>
<p><strong>BI: Is there a superhero you'd like to be instead?</strong></p>
<p>BHH: I think next would have to be Superman. That's one I'd like to check off.</p>
