While it provides a sense of stability, it also masks underlying risks that could surface unexpectedly, catching investors off guard. To ensure a sustainable recovery, there is a need for the private sector and households to take the lead, transforming fiscal stimulus into lasting economic growth." However, the report notes a shift in market dynamics, with the momentum factor, which has outperformed since the COVID-19 bottom, beginning to lose its dominance. At the same time, the quality factor, which had underperformed over the last four years, is now seeing a resurgence, potentially indicating a change in market leadership that could favour quality-orientated funds, both active and passive. The report highlights the critical role government spending has played in the recovery, with a focus on capital investments crucial for future growth. However, contributions from the private corporate sector and households have lagged. It also draws attention to a slowdown in India's per capita consumption, approaching lows seen in previous cycles. Given that consumption accounts for around 60% of GDP, it is vital that this sector grows at a rate exceeding GDP growth to stimulate private capital expenditure. India's <keyword id="487578" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="tax-collections" source="Orion">tax collections</keyword> have demonstrated robust growth, with gross tax revenue showing a five-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 14 %. This growth, largely driven by <keyword id="6354751" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="income-tax" source="Orion">income tax</keyword>, indicates a rising dependency on capital gains and stock market performance, introducing new vulnerabilities to the economy. LIC Mutual Fund's large & mid cap funds offer 12.49% CAGR since inception

A recent report by Axis AMC shed light on the burgeoning Indian mutual fund industry. Since March 2021, the MF industry has grown at a CAGR (compounded annual growth rate) of 23.65%, touching an AUM (asset under management) of Rs 67.25 lakh crore in October 2024. <keyword id="20300870" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Equity-Mutual-Funds" source="keywords">Equity mutual funds</keyword>, which garnered Rs 41,886.69 crore during the month, saw a 58.96% YoY growth. The biggest contributor to the equity segment was sectoral funds, which captured 29.3% of net equity sales in October 2024. In all, they brought in Rs 12,278.78 crore during October 2024. The AUM of <keyword id="20890471" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hybrid-Funds" source="keywords">hybrid funds</keyword> also stood at Rs 9.24 lakh crore during the month, registering an annual growth of 47.8% and inflows worth Rs 16,863.30 crore during October 2024. Amidst this, the arbitrage funds led in net sales, capturing 3.61% of their AUM with monthly inflows worth Rs 7,181.70 crores. There and more people are entering the Indian markets, as is evident in the growing SIP corpus (Systematic Investment Plans), which saw contributions worth Rs 25,323 crore in October 2024, a 54.7% year-over-year growth. In October 2024, about 63,69,919 new SIPs were registered, taking the number of SIP accounts to a record high of 10,12,34,212 The growth in equity investments was largely led by retail investors and HNIs (high-net-worth individuals). Since March 2021, the retail segment in mutual funds has seen a 31.2% CAGR, while banks and foreign investors have recorded a CAGR of 31.8% during the same period. Corporations were the biggest contributors to debt mutual funds. Notably, the AUM of debt funds grew 14.8% over the previous year to stand at Rs 10,65,037 crore as of October 2024. The category saw net sales worth Rs 47,699 crore last month. Also testimony to the growing interest of investors in mutual funds were the figures of <keyword id="23958398" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Passive-Mutual-Funds" source="keywords">passive mutual funds</keyword>, which recorded net sales worth Rs 8,025 crore during the month. Out of this, just index funds observed net sales of Rs 7,931 crore in the previous month. AUM from the top 30 Indian cities grew at 22.6% CAGR, whereas other cities grew at 27.8% CAGR since March 2021. FY25 also seemed to be the year where NFOs received an enthusiastic response from investors. So far, a total of 124 NFO schemes have managed to collect a total of over Rs 77,932 crore.

They're very popular in group <keyword id="11897658" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="fitness" source="Orion">fitness</keyword> and on Instagram to make exercises look cool and exciting, and people assume they're more effective," <a href="https://www.instagram.com/reel/CY2Mm3hgYlS/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link">Miriam Fried</a>, NYC-based personal trainer and founder of <a href="https://www.miriamfried.com/">MF Strong,</a> told Insider.The problem is that many combo movements combine upper and lower body exercises with the same weight, which is likely to be either too light or too heavy to be effective for building muscle, she said. Examples include a lunge with a bicep curl or a squat with a triceps extension. As a result, you may think you're doing double the workout, but won't get the most out of each movement, according to Fried. And you may get hurt, if the weight is heavy enough that it leads to bad form. Instead, focus on classic tried-and-true compound lifts or supersets, and don't think your workout needs to be flashy or complicated to be effective. <h2>Combo exercises can waste your time or lead to bad form if your goal is building muscle</h2>Combination <keyword id="11927625" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="exercise" source="Orion">exercise</keyword>s aren't the same as compound exercise, like deadlifts or a <a href="https://www.insider.com/how-to-get-better-at-push-ups-trainer-advice-2021-11">push-up,</a> that already work multiple muscle groups. Compound exercises use several body parts at once, such as your legs, back, and core, to complete one movement, helping to build full-body strength and muscle. Combined exercises are multiple movements in sequence. They typically add an isolation exercise, often involving a smaller muscle group like the biceps, triceps, or shoulders, to a basic leg exercise like a lunge or squat. However, the larger muscles of your lower body are able to <a href="https://www.insider.com/building-muscle-barbell-dumbbell-kettlebell-how-to-choose-which-one-2022-2">lift much more weight</a> than your arms. If you pick a weight heavy enough to challenge your legs, it's likely to be too much for your upper body to handle, and you might compensate with poor form or incomplete movements, according to Fried. A lighter weight, though, won't really work your lower body enough to build muscle. "You're not getting much out of it or you're hurting yourself," Fried said. Not all combination exercises are ineffective, since it makes sense to pair some movements together. For building muscle, however, you want to continually challenge yourself using progressive overload, which means selecting the right weight for your goals, Fried said. There may be other reasons to combine movements together besides building muscle — linking exercises with little rest in between can help raise your heart rate and <a href="https://www.insider.com/how-to-improve-cardio-without-running-trainer-advice-2021-12">improve your cardio endurance using weights</a>. Certain types of weight training link movements together to train explosive strength and power, like <a href="https://www.insider.com/kettlebell-exercises-full-body-workout-strength-training-speed-stamina-2022-2">kettlebell complexes</a> or barbell movements like the thruster (a squat to an overhead press). <h2>To better target specific muscles, try a superset</h2>If you do want to save time and get the most bang for your buck in the gym, you're better off sticking to supersets, Fried said. A superset is two or more exercises performed back-to-back with little rest in between. You don't have to link the movements, though, which means you can choose a weight that's appropriate for each exercise. Supersets can make your workouts more efficient by allowing one muscle group to rest as you're working another muscle group. You can also alternate between pushing and pulling movements, or isolation and compound movements. Examples of useful supersets include a chest press to a bent-over row, a <a href="https://www.insider.com/how-to-get-better-at-push-ups-trainer-advice-2021-11">push-up</a> to a <a href="https://www.insider.com/pull-ups-how-to-improve-do-your-first-one-2021-12">pull-up</a>, or single-leg deadlift to a back squat.

He also recommends weighted push-ups, which allow you to keep your elbows closer to the body.Aside from the bench press, Teo says there are other barbell exercises that could be swapped out for exercises with other weights."There is absolutely no reason why you can't switch out all of your barbell exercises for dumbbells, cables, machines, or bodyweight exercises," he said.You can still do compound exercises with heavy loads, according to Teo."While the total weight on the bar may be different, the actual stress you're putting on your muscles will be about the same, because you're able to direct that weight more efficiently and effectively right where you want it without having to worry about your joints being in awkward, uncomfortable positions," he said.<h2>Barbells have many benefits</h2>Teo still uses barbells for some movements, particularly lower body ones, including Romanian deadlifts, hip-thrusts, and squats, he said.It's important to consider each individual's proportions and mobility and find what's right for them, Teo said. Some people may not have the mobility to perform deep barbell squats, for example, so they might do better using a leg press machine.Convenience and personal preference are also important, Teo said, and he acknowledges that training with barbells can be a lot of fun.Many trainers are huge proponents of barbells."They're best for getting strong and lifting heavy, easier to progressively overload and can add a lot of weight," <a href="https://www.instagram.com/miriamfried/?hl=en">Miriam Fried</a>, NYC-based personal trainer and founder of <a href="https://www.miriamfried.com/">MF Strong,</a> previously told Insider.
