<ul><li>The <keyword id="145693" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hubble-Space-Telescope">Hubble Space Telescope</keyword> has spotted a dwarf <keyword id="1077810" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="elliptical-galaxy">elliptical galaxy</keyword> <keyword id="8138767" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="messier-110">Messier 110</keyword> with new stars at the center.</li><li>Elliptical galaxies are normally thought of as 'dead' were no gases available for the formation of new stars.</li><li>The discovery of blue stars at the center of Messier 110 hint that elliptical galaxies have the potential to create new stars.</li></ul>Elliptical galaxies — galaxies that don't have circular arms and the grandeur of spiral galaxies like the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/milky-way-galaxy-surrounded-by-massive-radio-bubbles-stretching-hundreds-of-light-years/articleshow/71106392.cms">Milky Way</a> — are normally dull and dark with the bare minimum of star activity. But the Messier 110 might be an exception. The galaxy looks like the many elliptical <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/nasa-just-captured-a-record-breaking-photo-of-a-galaxy-thats-far-far-away/articleshow/50036664.cms">galaxies</a> in between the Milky Way and the Andromeda galaxy — Milky Way's closest neighbor — except for one major difference. Messier 110 isn't as 'dead' as it was thought to be. An image captured by the <a href="https://www.nasa.gov/image-feature/goddard/2019/hubble-takes-closer-look-at-not-so-dead-neighbor">Hubble Space Telescope</a> shows that there are bright blue young stars at the center of the galaxy. They're at least thrice the size of the Sun. Since they're bigger in size, they burn much hotter and much quicker. This is highly uncommon because dwarf elliptical galaxies like Messier 10 lack arms and the notable pockets of star formation, according to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (<a href="https://www.nasa.gov/image-feature/goddard/2019/hubble-takes-closer-look-at-not-so-dead-neighbor">NASA</a>). Defeating death Dwarf elliptical galaxies don't normally contain new stars. Astronomers believe this is because <keyword id="4740034" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="black-holes">black holes</keyword> are the center of the galaxies, and eating up the gas needed for the formation of new stars, according to a study published in <a href="https://www.nature.com/articles/s41550-019-0790-3.epdf?referrer_access_token=8e2WSi4EPuWjhT_gMOucydRgN0jAjWel9jnR3ZoTv0MWxpfe0xwHK9j1KtVYlkHW344lcZtZf9zruuOkIqyo3qcv3Pp4az0_kd6JTsfaFx11Mz5RZ7_YKdyos6R0NvqeWp6GxLr2BHEl1nhR8OH4zSl7y3U63ceKdIq_4PN8dzTJSKgqttKXwud_MX0st32KF6ZzeIAlZqLLreS6hjJEdjBpe-DNEcbCceZ0uH6jugBY2QZuBW73DTtWKgmaQ1vB0zowZecXX5g-r4hr5o0Xra-zSBMZGSrCH2aFXe-WcmXzf8UEeVzesCeoEKiV57rj&amp;tracking_referrer=www.universetoday.com">Nature</a>. Another <a href="https://arxiv.org/pdf/1901.04509.pdf">theory</a> for the lack of new stars is that dwarf ellipticals are only by-products of collisions between major galaxies. The collision is theorised to strip away the gas required for forming stars. But, the discovery of new stars in Messier 110 negates both those hypotheses. Elliptical galaxies, themselves, aren't uncommon. They're actually quite common in groups and clusters of galaxies. The Messier 110 is a close neighbor of the Milky Way and one of the satellite galaxies circling the Andromeda galaxy. Milky Way's neighbour might not be so ‘dead’ with young stars brewing at its center

Crains' <a href="http://www.crainsnewyork.com/article/20150201/FINANCE/150139971/the-house-that-ira-rennert-built">Aaron Elstein</a> reported that Rennert was in federal court on Tuesday to face the defunct Magnesium Corporation of America's creditors, who claim he siphoned off $100 million from the ailing company<a href="http://www.crainsnewyork.com/article/20150201/FINANCE/150139971/the-house-that-ira-rennert-built"></a>.
Renco Group, Rennert's holding company, acquired MagCorp back in 1989 and began issuing millions of dollars worth of bonds. But rather than being invested in the magnesium company, that money went directly to Renco Group, and, allegedly, into Rennert's pocket.
The allegations get messier after that: Rennert then built a new company that bought up land - 63 acres, to be exact - for his gargantuan Hamptons home (dubbed Fairfield, it's thought to be one of the largest mansions in America). Shortly afterward, the magnesium market began to crumble and MagCorp filed for bankruptcy.
Creditors are now seeking $118 million, plus interest. Get ready for an entertaining trial.

ON THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL: Politicians are cashing in on the crypto boom. A growing number of candidates and political groups are interested in accepting bitcoin and altcoins. The only problem is that federal law in this area leaves a lot of open questions.Here's what you need to know:Campaigns can legally accept bitcoin: The Federal Election Commission, the agency tasked with overseeing federal elections, established this right in 2014. But its guidance on the subject leaves a lot of ambiguity, including over whether campaigns can use cryptocurrency to buy goods and services and whether it's legal to accept more than $100 worth of bitcoin. To further complicate matters, the guidance is so outdated that it applies only to bitcoin, not any of the many other cryptocurrencies like dogecoin.<ul><li>Things get even messier when it comes to super PACs: The FEC doesn't say whether super PACs, which may legally accept unlimited amounts of money to advocate or oppose politicians, can also accept unlimited amounts of crypto.</li></ul>Politicians are moving ahead anyway: The NRCC, House Republicans' campaign arm, became the first national party committee to accept crypto. It is able to get around the $100 question by converting any crypto donations into cash before it hits its account.<ul><li>The Yang Gang is joining too: The former Democratic presidential hopeful Andrew Yang, who just started a third party called the Forward Party, has pledged that his outfit will accept crypto too. Hundreds of thousands of US troops are not fully vaccinated: Sizable portions of the military are not vaccinated even as deadlines approach for the Pentagon's COVID-19 vaccine mandate, The Washington Post reports. The vaccination rate varies within different branches and military segments. The Post, for example, found 90% of the active-duty Navy was fully vaccinated but just 72% of the Marine Corps was. The reserves and the National Guard have large numbers of unvaccinated troops. Taliban says US will provide humanitarian aid to Afghans: The Taliban made the claim after the first direct talks between the US and the militants since American forces withdrew, the Associated Press reports. High-ranking House Republican refuses to say Trump lost: House Minority Whip Steve Scalise, the No. 2 House Republican, refused to say Joe Biden fairly won the 2020 US presidential election almost a year after it took place. Fox News' Chris Wallace repeatedly pressed Scalise on whether he believed Donald Trump's baseless claims of widespread voter fraud. Southwest cancels more than 1,000 flights: The airline had canceled nearly a third of its daily schedule as of early last night, the highest rate of any major US airline, the Associated Press reports. Southwest cited air-traffic-control issues and weather delays, but analysts are speculating about other possibilities, including that the airline might've scheduled too many flights and that some pilots were protesting the company's COVID-19 vaccine mandate.
