A bit of jostling left Grosjean's car tripping across the track and careening into the barrier.His car immediately burst into flames.Warning: The video below shows the moment of Grosjean's crash.Somehow, Grosjean walked away from the crash, and was met immediately by the medical car that was trailing the pack through the first lap of the race.Shortly after the crash, <a href="https://twitter.com/HaasF1Team/status/1333055583021391872" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Grosjean's team tweeted out</a> that their driver was doing well all things considered, having suffered minor burns on his hands and ankles, but otherwise okay. Grosjean was taken to the hospital for further evaluation.On Twitter, fans credited the Halo — a ring around the cockpit meant to protect the heads of drivers — for saving Grosjean's life. The Halo, the barriers, the seatbelts, everything worked how it should. Formula 1 driver Romain Grosjean escaped a terrifying crash after his car exploded on the first lap of a race

A floating poultry farm built on water is coming to the Netherlands, and it's an architectural masterpiece

A 1969 <keyword id="6355470" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Law">law</keyword> that abolished trial by jury in South Africa could have a big impact on the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/why-many-south-africans-think-oscar-pistorius-is-innocent-2014-3">trial of Oscar Pistorius</a>, the Olympic star who's accused of killing his girlfriend.
The fate of Pistorius is in the hands of a judge and two officials called assessors, who might be less likely to be influenced by emotion than jurors, <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2014/04/03/world/africa/an-emotional-pistorius-may-soon-take-the-stand.html?action=click&amp;module=Search&amp;region=searchResults%230&amp;version=&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Fquery.nytimes.com%2Fsearch%2Fsitesearch%2F%3Faction%3Dclick%26region%3DMasthead%26pgtype%3DHomepage%26module%3DSearchSubmit%26contentCollection%3DHomepage%26t%3Dqry717%23%2FPistorius%2F24hours%2F">The New York Times pointed out</a> in a recent story.
While trial by jury is a commonly used right in the United States, the practice in South Africa declined long before it was officially banned in 1969.
The <a href="http://www.justice.gov.za/salrc/ipapers/ip06_prj73_1997.pdf">South African Law Commission</a> has given a number of reasons for the gradual decline of juries, including:
<ul>
<li>expansive powers of the Minister of Justice to order trials without a jury;</li>
<li>reluctance of the public to serve on juries;</li>
<li>widespread exemptions leaving few competent jury candidates; </li>
<li>and fears of racial prejudice among jury members, given South Africa's complex race relations.</li>
</ul>
According to a <a href="http://www.justice.gov.za/salrc/ipapers/ip06_prj73_1997.pdf">report</a> by the South African Law Commission in the 1990s, the practice of trial by jury in South African courts gradually decreased throughout much of the early 20th century. The nation's 1917 Criminal Procedure and Evidence Act 31 allowed anyone on trial in the local or provincial division of the Supreme Court to choose to be tried without a jury.
A 1935 amendment to that law authorized the Minister of Justice to order a trial be held without a jury for certain cases. The minister's power in that regard increased in the mid-20th century, leading to a growing number of trials without jury.
A 1954 amendment to the nation's criminal code established that all trials would take place without a jury, unless an accused person requested a jury and the Minister of Justice didn't order otherwise.
By the time the Abolition of Juries Act 34 abolished the jury system completely in 1969, trials by jury had largely fallen out of use.
Although the trial of South Africa's star runner Pistorius for the alleged murder of his girlfriend won't be decided by a jury of his peers, that doesn't mean his fate will be determined entirely by a sole judge. Trials by jury in South Africa were replaced with the use of assessors, law experts who assist the judge hearing the case.
In the case of Pistorius, Judge Thokozile Masipa has appointed two assessors to assist her.
University of Pretoria professor and criminal procedure law expert Annette van der Merwe <a href="http://www.iol.co.za/news/crime-courts/oscar-trial-judge-appoints-assessors-1.1646332#.Uz1_XV5SJz-">explained the assessors' roles</a>, reported by South Africa's Independent Online news website. According to Van der Merwe, the two assessors could potentially overrule the judge when it comes to a verdict based on the facts of the case. For example, if both assessors rule in favor of murder, that will be the accepted verdict regardless of the judge's ruling. But when it comes to sentencing, the judge has the final say over the assessors.
The Pistorius trial was recently <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2014/03/29/world/africa/judge-postpones-oscar-pistorius-defense-hearings.html">adjourned</a> until April 7 due to an illness afflicting one of the assessors.

Richard van der Merwe, CEO of Bayer CropScience Ltd, said the outlay towards development of roads and national highways will help in the movement of perishable goods and driving accessibility and price parity across the country for end consumers. 
 
“The Finance Minister’s proposal to focus on agriculture and farmers' welfare and allocation of over Rs. 5000 crore towards crop insurance scheme, direct benefit transfers for fertilizers, enhanced irrigation acreage and agri credit targets to the tune of Rs. 9 lakh crore is a very welcome move,” he said. 
 
Also, Jaitley said India stood ground in difficult times and amid weak global environment. 
 The government is firm on its course towards fiscal consolidation without compromising on its development agenda and 3.5% <keyword id="6365485" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="fiscal-deficit">fiscal deficit</keyword> is targeted for FY 2017. 
 
“With aim of 3.5% fiscal deficit the approach toward fiscal consolidation is a right approach. Focus on rural economy will benefit companies like us which has more than 90% of its clients’ base staying in rural areas. Allocation of 3800 crore to MGNREGA is also a positive. It will boost the rural economy in difficult times for agriculture. Overall a very mature and reformist budget,” said Sadaf Sayeed, Chief Executive Officer, Muthoot Microfin Ltd. 
 Jaitley, in his <keyword id="117156" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Budget-speech">budget speech</keyword>, also rolled out several reforms, one of which was PM Jan Aushadhi Yojana, assuring quality medicines at affordable prices. 
 
Pradeep Dadha, Founder &amp; CEO, Netmeds.com, said, “The budget announced opening of 3,000 stores in 2016-17 under Prime Minister's Jan Aushadhi Yojana is a very welcome and innovative move by the government. 
 
However, the tourism industry was not that happy with the budget proposals. 
 
Sharat Dhall, President, Yatra.com said, “The much awaited budget has turned out to be very friendly for the Aam Aadmi but there could have been a bit more in it for the corporate sector. The proposal to increase the tax on ATF (Aviation Turbine Fuel) will result in increase in airfares and dampen air passenger growth which could have been a catalyst for economic growth.” 
 
Still, the pitch to revamp roads and airports across the country was lauded, which would connect people to unexplored destinations.
