In a bid to ensure the safety and convenience of an estimated 45 crore devotees, the Yogi Adityanath government is preparing for the upcoming Maha Kumbh. For the first time, the grand event is being digitized on such a large scale, leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) and social media platforms to enhance management and security. "Around 2700 CCTV cameras are being installed in the district and the whole fair area. This will help us in crowd management... Cameras with AI features have also been installed in the area. These cameras will automatically send us alerts based on their feed. This step would be in addition to human intelligence. AI is adding to the information of human intelligence. We have already installed 25 police stations in the area and a total of 56 stations will be placed,” said Rajesh Dwivedi, SSP, Mahakumbh Mela. AI-powered cameras are being installed throughout the Kumbh site to monitor the massive crowd and ensure 24/7 surveillance. These state-of-the-art cameras will not only bolster security but also assist in reuniting individuals who may get separated during the event. In addition, popular social media platforms like Facebook and X will provide immediate assistance in locating lost relatives, streamlining the process of reuniting families amidst the sea of pilgrims. This time, visitors from across the country and abroad attending the Mahakumbh 2025 won't have to worry about losing their loved ones in the crowd. The Mela administration has devised an extensive plan to address this concern. A digital 'khoya paaya kendra' (lost-and-found centre) will go live on December 1, utilizing advanced technology to reunite separated individuals quickly and efficiently. The entire fair area is being equipped with 328 AI-enabled cameras, which have already been tested at four key locations. These cameras will monitor the crowd 24/7 and assist in locating lost individuals. Under the directives of the Yogi government, the large-scale installation of these cameras is in its final stages. The digital lost-and-found centres will immediately register every missing person's details digitally. Once registered, the AI-powered cameras will begin searching for the individual. Additionally, information about missing persons will be shared on social media platforms like Facebook and X (formerly Twitter), making it easier to locate them quickly. Face recognition technology will be used at the Maha Kumbh to identify individuals who get separated from their loved ones. This advanced system will work instantly, capturing photographs and identifying individuals among the estimated 45 crore attendees. The ongoing Kumbh Mela has been at the centre of controversy amid fears that it could be a superspreader event with lakhs of devotees attending the event as the second wave of the coronavirus surges uncontrollably. The order issued on Saturday said those who visited Kumbh from 4 April onwards or those who plan to do so till end of the religious congregation at Haridwar on April 30 will have to upload their personal details, ID proof and dates of departure and arrival back to Delhi at the website www.delhi.gov.in. "All residents of Delhi who have visited or are going to visit Kumbh 2021 at Haridwar, shall be required to compulsory home quarantine themselves for 14 days on arrival to Delhi," said the order issued by Vijay Dev, Chief Secretary and chairperson on executive committee of DDMA. If a person returning from Haridwar Kumbh fails to upload his particulars on the Delhi government portal, he will be sent to institutional quarantine centre for 14 days by district magistrates concerned, the order said. Violators of the DDMA order will be liable to be proceeded against under the Disaster Management Act 2005 and other legal provisions, it added. As the 13 akharas had to take their holy dip at Har ki Pairi in accordance with their allotted time slots before sunset, the police and paramilitary personnel were hard-pressed to ensure each of them vacated the ghat before the arrival of the next akhara in line to prevent chaos. As seers were averse to undergoing RT-PCR tests till the Mesh Sankranti Shahi Snan of April 14, both testing and inoculation in the Kumbh Kshetra including the areas allocated to the akharas are likely to be stepped up in the coming days, Jha said. A statement issued by the Maa Kamakhya Devalaya saidon Thursday that a decision has been taken by the 'Dolois'(priests) that only the rituals and prayers associated with the festival would be performed by them. It has been also decided that devotees, sadhus ortourists will not be allowed to enter or stay in the premises of the Shakti peeth atop the Nilachal Hills here. The <keyword id="6355287" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Temple">temple</keyword> authorities announced that no arrangements for fooding and lodging for the pilgrims will be made this year. The priests also appealed to all to cooperate with the temple authorities in this regard. Every year, the temple remains closed for four daysin the belief that the annual menstrual cycle of Goddess Kamakhya falls during the period. The temple reopens on the fifth day when devotees throng the place of worship to seek the blessings of the Goddess. The occasion witnesses around 25 lakh footfalls fromall over the country and abroad every year. The Kamakhya temple was closed for devotees since March 20 due to the coronavirus outbreak and the subsequent nationwide lockdown.

The Magh Mela begins from January 14 next year. According to Inspector General (IG) (Prayagraj range) K.P. Singh, "We would be conducting antigen and RT-PCR tests of the police personnel arriving from different parts of the state for the Magh Mela duties. Police forces from different districts, including Fatehpur, Pratapgarh, Kaushambi, Mahoba, Hamirpur, Banda, Chitrakoot, Varanasi and Gorakhpur are being deployed at the Magh mela township for the month-long religious congregation." He, however, said that the antigen and RT -PCR testing of the policemen coming from different parts of the state, would help the authorities in checking the spread of the virus and the <keyword id="74296" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="police-officials">police officials</keyword> would also be maintaining a strict watch on the testing and its outcome". The officials of the health department have already asked devotees wanting to perform 'kalpwas' (month long stay at the township) at the banks of river Ganga during the Magh Mela to bring along a negative RT-PCR test report with them in order to get an entry in the Mela ground. The devotees will have to undergo a test every week during their month-long stay. Other visitors to the Magh Mela will also be tested for the Covid virus. A senior official said, "We would be taking all corrective measures to contain the spread of Covid-19 during the month-long Mela period and adequate health facilities would be offered to the devotees, pilgrims and the staff on duty. A network of 110 CCTV sets will be installed to maintain a close watch in every nook and corner of the Mela campus. Mobile police teams and pickets would be deployed at all entry and exit points.  The latest fair, held in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh visited by an estimated 130- 140 million people, set up records for largest crowd management, largest sanitation drive and largest painting exercise of public sites. The exercises were performed before a team a Guiness for four days, from February 28 to March 3. "Around 503 shuttle buses were pressed into service on the highway in one go for the team on February 28. Several people participated in a painting exercise on March 1 and 10,000 workers engaged in cleaning at the Kumbh, all performing their duties together," India’s Ministry of Culture said in a statement. On March 1, over 10,000 people engaged in cleaning and sanitation activities at the same on different venues, setting up a record for the "most people sweeping the floor.”
