The government of Telangana has deposited ₹7,411.52 crore into the bank accounts of 62.99 lakh farmers in the state so far under the <keyword id="6423211" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="rythu-bandhu" source="Orion">Rythu Bandhu</keyword> scheme for the coming Rabi season. The investment support under the state's flagship scheme will cover 1,48,23,000 acres across the state, said Agriculture Minister <keyword id="11983590" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="s-niranjan-reddy" source="Orion">S. Niranjan Reddy</keyword>. Among the districts, Nalgonda received the highest assistance of ₹601.74 crore, benefitting 4,69,696 farmers. <keyword id="8596137" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="medchal-malkajgiri" source="Orion">Medchal Malkajgiri</keyword> district adjoining Hyderabad received the least assistance of ₹33.65 crore. The amount was deposited in the accounts of 33,452 farmers. Under Rythu Bandhu, the government credits ₹5,000 per acre into the farmers' bank accounts before the beginning of every crop season. For the Rabi season, the disbursement target is ₹7,646 crore. The authorities began depositing the amount in the farmers' accounts in the last week of December. When the scheme was launched in 2018, the state government was providing ₹8,000 per acre per year (for both Rabi and Kharif seasons). The amount was enhanced to ₹10,000 from 2019. On January 10, the cumulative assistance provided under the scheme touched the ₹50,000 crore mark. <keyword id="180385" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="niranjan-reddy" source="Orion">Niranjan Reddy</keyword> said Rythu Bandhu, the brainchild of Chief Minister <keyword id="11934689" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="k-chandrasekhar-rao" source="Orion">K. Chandrasekhar Rao</keyword>, is proving a boon for farmers and it has helped transform agriculture in the state. He claimed that no other state in the country is implementing such a scheme for the welfare of farmers. He demanded that the Central government announce a national policy for the welfare of farmers. Stating that farmers were facing a lot of problems due to shortage of farm labourers, Niranjan Reddy reiterated the demand that the Central government should link National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) with the agriculture sector. He said the state governments should fix the Minimum Support Price (MSP) considering the crop cultivation and other factors in their respective regions and the Centre should procure the entire produce at MSP. He said it was unfortunate that the Centre was doing nothing except declaring MSP and demanded the Union government to implement recommendations of the Swaminathan Committee. "The Centre should bring a change in its approach towards agriculture as 60 per cent of the country's population is dependent on this sector," he said. Rythu Bandhu scheme - Telangana government deposits ₹7,400 crore into the bank accounts of 62 lakh farmers

Telangana's daily Covid count saw a drop due to <keyword id="9244905" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="fewer-tests">fewer tests</keyword> conducted over the weekend. The state reported 5,695 new cases over the 24-hour period against 7,430 new cases the <keyword id="9387989" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="previous-day">previous day</keyword>. The fresh cases pushed the state's cumulative tally to 4,56,485. According to the daily media bulletin released by the <keyword id="48418" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Health-department">health department</keyword>, 49 more people succumbed to the virus during the 24-hour period that ended 8 p.m. Sunday. The death toll has now mounted to 2,417. The case fatality rate stands at 0.52 per cent against the national average of 1.1 per cent. Government and private laboratories tested 58,742 samples against 76,330 tests conducted the previous day. Over the last one week, the number of tests has come down to 70,000 to 80,000 per day from over one lakh earlier. The state has so far conducted 1,31,18,856 tests. Samples tested per million population improved to 3,52,467. As a result of a drop in new infections and more recoveries, there was a marginal decline in the number of <keyword id="8971025" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="active-cases">active cases</keyword>. The active cases now stand at 80,135. A total of 6,206 people recovered from the virus, taking the cumulative recoveries to 3,73,933. The recovery rate improved to 81.91 per cent against the national average of 81.7 per cent. Greater Hyderabad remains the worst affected with 1,352 new cases. <keyword id="8596137" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="medchal-malkajgiri">Medchal Malkajgiri</keyword> and Rangareddy district adjoining Hyderabad reported 427 and 483 cases respectively. Out of 33 districts in the state, 16 districts reported cases in double digits. Warangal Urban saw a spike in new cases. The district reported 393 new infections followed by 258 in Nizamabad, 249 in Sangareddy, 238 in Siddipet, 231 in Karimnagar and 221 in Mahaboobnagar. Talking about age and gender wise COVID-19 positive details, it said 65.6 per cent were male, while 34.4 per cent were female. On comorbidities status among deaths, it said the percentage of deaths due to comorbidities was 53.87 per cent. The percentage of deaths due to COVID-19 was 46.13 per cent. The number of vacant isolation, oxygen and ICU beds was 11,179 and 2,268 and 1,352 respectively, the bulletin said. It said RT-PCR/CBNAAT/TRUENAT testing facilities in government were 16 and 23 in the private sector. It also said 320 rapid antigen testing centres have been set up by the government. The government provided a list oflaboratories, list of rapid antigen testing centres, details on the status of beds in government and private hospitals, the lists of containment zones in GHMC and in different districts. The bulletin said the government has made elaborate arrangements for treating COVID-19 patients and that sufficient beds are available in government hospitals. Telangana reports highest single day spike in COVID-19 with 1986 new patients

The K Chandrashekhar Rao government has decided that it will not allow any relaxations, and the curfew will continue as is for the lockdown period. The CM added that irrespective of the centre's decision, the lockdown will continue even after the nationwide lockdown ends on May 17. “The situation in the State capital, Hyderabad, and its neighbouring districts, Rangareddy and Malkajigiri-Medchal district is very serious and there is no way we can take any chances.” said the CM at Pragati Bhavan. “We are in flattening stage and in near future we will crush the pandemic in the state.” he added. So far, 1096 cases of Coronavirus have been reported in the state and out of this, 628 people have been discharged so far. Majority of the fresh cases are being reported from GHMC, which includes the state's capital Hyderabad. As per the CM, originally, the epicenter for Coronavirus in the state was Karimnagar but the government was able to control the spread of the disease. Shops in 25 districts to open from May 6 The CM also announced that all shops in the orange and green zones, which covers 25 districts of the state will be allowed to open from May 6. However, non-essential shops will continue to remain closed in the three red zones - Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Malkajgiri-Medchal. However, the state government has put some restrictions 0n the shops even in the orange and green zones. In municipal towns, only 50% of the shops will be allowed to operate and in rural areas, including mandals and villages, 100% of the shops will be permitted to operate. The CM added that shops in municipal towns will be opened on a rotational basis. “This will be on a rotational basis, and all shop-owners will get a chance to open their shops on alternate days,” the CM said. Review meeting on May 15 While it is unlikely that the lockdown will be relaxed before May 29, the Telangana government has announced that a review meeting will be held on May 15. It is expected that the situation in various parts of the state, especially the red zones and the measures being taken by the government will be reviewed during this meeting. SSC exams to be conducted soon The Telangana government intends to conduct the SSC examination soon. The Advocate General has been asked to file a petition in the Telangana High Court as the matter is adjudicated before the court. The government has said that it will take all precautions, including social distancing to conduct the SSC exams. Telangana lockdown extended till May 29, curfew to continue

A five-fold increase in <keyword id="8919648" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="COVID-19-cases-in-Telangana" source="Orion">Covid-19 cases in Telangana</keyword> in the last one week has sent health authorities into a tizzy and sparked fears of a third wave. The rising number of <keyword id="12621759" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Omicron-cases" source="Orion">Omicron cases</keyword> is adding to the concern and the situation is likely to lead to imposing of new curbs to check the spread of the pandemic. The daily count, which was around 200 last week, surged to 1,052 on Tuesday. The infections more than doubled in 24 hours. The state had reported 482 cases on Monday. The number of daily infections has been rising steadily since December last week. The state had reported 317 cases on December 31. The tally dropped to 311 the next day and further to 274 on January 2 but this was due to fewer tests conducted due to holidays. After more than six months, the state reported over 1,000 cases in a single day. The last time over a 1,000 cases were reported was on June 26, 2021 when the second wave was on decline. The positivity rate, which was around 0.50 per cent a week ago, has now jumped to over two per cent. Positivity rate is the number of infections detected compared to the number of tests. The number of active cases has also increased to 4,858. Health officials said this number too has more than doubled in the last one week. The recovery rate which had almost touched 99 per cent a few days ago has now dropped to 98.70 per cent. Greater Hyderabad and its two adjoining districts accounted for 84 per cent of the new infections reported on Tuesday. <keyword id="75378" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Greater-Hyderabad-Municipal-Corporation" source="Orion">Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation</keyword> (GHMC) alone reported 659 cases, a jump of over 100 per cent from 294 cases reported a day before. The daily count in GHMC was only 121 on December 29 and since then there has been a sharp spike. Medchal Malkajgiri and Rangareddy districts abutting GHMC reported 116 and 109 cases respectively. These urban districts also saw the daily count rising by over 100 per cent. The big surge in the state capital and surroundings is attributed to greater movement of people and lack of strict adherence to Covid norms. Though the government has issued orders that those found not wearing masks in public places will be fined Rs 1,000, the rule is not being strictly enforced. People are also found not abiding by the social distance norms. Large gatherings are seen in marriages and other functions. Only rallies, public meetings and public gatherings for political, religious and cultural purposes are currently prohibited in the state. The sharp spike in cases may force the authorities to impose some additional restrictions to check the spread. Two days ago, the officials had ruled out imposing a lockdown or night curfew. They had maintained that as per the guidelines issued by the central government the current situation in the state does not call for declaring lockdown. Health officials say the big surge is definitely a cause of concern but there is no need for panic and people can check the spread by following Covid-19 safety norms like wearing of masks, maintaining social distance, hand sanitization and taking both doses of the vaccine. Director of public health Dr G. Srinivasa Rao had warned last week that the next 2-4 weeks will be crucial in the fight against Covid in view of the New Year and festival season. The official called for taking all precautions in view of Sankranti which will lead to increased movement of people across states. Five-fold increase in COVID-19 cases in Telangana in last one week — triggers alarm for third wave

Hyderabad, Oct 6 () Telangana recorded 1,983 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the total infection count to 2.02 lakh, even as the recovery rate in the state rose to over 86 per cent. The toll mounted to 1,181 with 10 more fatalities, a state government bulletin said on Tuesday, providing data as of 8 PM on October 5. The recovery rate stood at 86.26 per cent, while it was 84.7 per cent in the country, the bulletin said. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) accounted for 292 of the 1,983 fresh cases, followed by Rangareddy 187, Medchal Malkajgiri at 145, Khammam 117, Karimnagar 109 and other districts. The bulletin said 50,598 samples were tested on October 5. Cumulatively, the number of samples tested was 32.92 lakh. The samples tested per million population was 88,452, it said. The cumulative recovered cases stood at 1.74 lakh while 26,644 were under treatment. The case fatality rate in the state was 0.58 per cent, while it was 1.6 per cent at the national level, it said. 1,983 new COVID-19 cases in Telangana; Recovery rate over 86 per cent

Hyderabad, Oct 10 () Telangana recorded 1,811 new COVID-19 cases, taking the infection count to 2.10 lakh even as the recovery rate in the state climbed to over 87 per cent. The toll mounted to 1,217 with nine more fatalities, a state government bulletin said on Saturday, providing data as of 8 PM on October 9. The recovery rate stood at 87.01 per cent, while it was 85.7 per cent in the country, the bulletin said. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) accounted for 291 of the 1,811 fresh cases, followed by Medchal Malkajgiri 171, Rangareddy 138, Nalgonda 108, Karimnagar 100 and other districts. It said 50,469 samples were tested on October 9. Cumulatively, the number of samples tested was 35 lakh. The samples tested per million population was 94,046. The number of recoveries on October 9 was 2,072 as against 1,811 fresh cases. The cumulative recovered cases stood at 1.83 lakh, while 26,104 were under treatment. Hyderabad, With consistent higher numbers of recoveries, Telangana's <keyword id="8763838" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="covid-19">Covid-19</keyword> recovery rate improved to 95.20 per cent, health officials said on Monday. The state saw 1,015 recoveries during the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 2,51,468. The recovery rate is better than the national average of 93.7 per cent. The state logged 602 new Covid-19 cases during the last 24 hours, pushing the state's tally to 2,64,128. The daily count of cases dropped due to weekly fall in the number of tests. Three more persons succumbed to the virus taking the death toll to 1,433. The fatality rate remains at 0.54 per cent against the national average of 1.5 per cent. According to director of public health and family welfare, 44.96 per cent of the deaths were due to Covid while remaining 55.04 were on account of comorbidities. Of the fresh positive cases, Greater Hyderabad accounted for 129 cases. Rangareddy district reported the second highest number at 62 followed by Medchal Malkajgiri (60), Karimnagar (51) and Warangal Urban (27). According to the daily media bulletin released by the office of the director of public health and family welfare, the total number of active cases stands at 11,227 of which 8,942 are in home or institutional isolation. Laboratories in the state conducted 24,139 tests during the last 24 hours, taking cumulative number of tests to 51,58,474. Like every weekend, the authorities conducted fewer tests. Eighteen government-run laboratories, 50 private laboratories and 1076 Rapid Antigen test centres are conducting the tests in the state. Out of 24,139samples tested during the last 24 hours, 22,334 samples were tested in government-run laboratories and 1,805 samples in private. Samples tested per million population ratio rose further to 1,38,594. The daily testing target for the state is 5,600 per day as per the World Health Organisation (WHO) benchmark of 140 per million per day. Out of 2,64,128 total positive cases so far, 70 per cent (1,84,890) were asymptomatic while the remaining 30 per cent (79,238) were symptomatic. The data shows that 63.92 per cent of those tested positive so far were aged between 21-50 years. As many as 22.91 per cent were aged above 51 years. The positive cases include 13.18 per cent who were below 20 years.

Telangana's Covid-19 recovery rate improved to 95.20%

During the last 24 hours, 472 new positive cases were reported from across the state taking the state's tally going up to 2,84,863. The <keyword id="9735272" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="fresh-fatalities">fresh fatalities</keyword> pushed the state's tally to 1,531. The fatality rate remained 53% as against the national average of 1.4%. According to <keyword id="10502050" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="the-director-of-public-health-and-family-welfare">the Director of Public Health and Family Welfare</keyword>, 44.96% of the deaths occurred due to Covid-19 while 55.04% had comorbidities. Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) reported 106 new cases. Medchal Malkajgiri district saw the <keyword id="9252517" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="second-highest-number">second highest number</keyword> of new cases at 45, followed by Rangareddy (44), Nalgonda (23), Mancherial (19), Warangal Urban (18) and Karimnagar (17). The state saw 509 <keyword id="1140122" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Recoveries">recoveries</keyword> during the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative Covid numbers to 2,76,753. The recovery rate stands at 97.15% as against the national average of 95.8%. At present, the number of active cases in the state is 6,579, including 4,426 persons who are in home or institutional quarantine. More than 90 per cent of beds in government-run and private hospitals treating Covid-19 in the state remained vacant. Of 8,559 beds available in 61 government hospitals treating Covid-19, 7,801 beds were vacant. As many as 758 people were undergoing treatment at these hospitals. Similarly, in 219 private hospitals treating Covid, only 1,395 beds were occupied. Of 7,783 beds, 6,388 were vacant. Of the 37,347 tests conducted during the last 24 hours, government-run laboratories accounted for 34,135 while the remaining 3,212 samples were tested in private labs. The samples tested per million population ratio rose further to 1,80,647. The daily testing target for the state is 5,600 as per <keyword id="2555741" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="The-World-Health-Organisation">the World Health Organisation</keyword> (WHO) benchmark of 140 per million per day, officials said. Eighteen government-run laboratories, 56 private laboratories and 1,076 Rapid Antigen test centres are conducting the tests in the state. The data shows that 63.9 per cent of those testing Covid positive were between 21 and 50 years. As many as 22.91 per cent were above 51 years. The positive cases include 13.18% who were below 20 years. Of the overall Covid cases, 60.44 per cent were male and 39.37% female. Telangana records 472 new COVID-19 cases taking tally to 2,84,863

Hyderabad, <keyword id="68884" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Telangana">Telangana</keyword>'s <keyword id="8763838" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="covid-19">Covid-19</keyword> tally crossed 2.80 lakh on Friday with 551 <keyword id="53748" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="new-cases">new cases</keyword> reported during the last 24 hours, health officials said. With the death of another person due to Covid, the death toll mounted to 1,506. The state's Covid fatality rate remains at 0.53% against the national average of 1.5%. According to the director of public health and family welfare, 44.96% of the deaths were due to Covid while the remaining 55.04 were on account of comorbidities. The state continues to record more number of recoveries than new cases. A total of 682 people recovered from the virus, taking the <keyword id="10453511" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="cumulative-numbers">cumulative numbers</keyword> to 2,71,649. The recovery rate improved further to 96.94% against the national average of 95.4%. The state now has 7,040 active cases and of them 4,955 are in home or institutional isolation. Over 90% of beds in the government-run and private hospitals treating Covid-19 in the state remained vacant. Out of 8,561 beds available in 61 government hospitals treating Covid, 7,821 beds were vacant. A total of 740 people were undergoing treatment in these hospitals. Similarly, in 220 private hospitals treating Covid, only 1,345 beds were occupied. Out of 7,920 beds, 6,575 were vacant. Of the new cases reported during the last 24 hours, Greater Hyderabad accounted for 111. The daily count in districts remained in single or double digits. Rangareddy district saw the second highest number of new cases at 48 followed by Medchal Malkajgiri (42), Warangal Urban (31), Karimnagar (24) and Sangareddy (23). Of the 47,991 tests conducted during the last 24 hours, government-run laboratories accounted for 44,366 while the remaining 3,625 samples were tested in private labs. Samples tested per million population ratio rose further to 1,70,725. The daily testing target for the state is 5,600 per day as per <keyword id="2555741" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="The-World-Health-Organisation">the World Health Organisation</keyword> (WHO) benchmark of 140 per million per day, officials said Eighteen government-run laboratories, 56 private laboratories and 1,076 Rapid Antigen test centres are conducting the tests in the state. Out of total 2,80,195 positive cases so far, 70% (1,96,136) were asymptomatic while the remaining 30% (84,059) were symptomatic. The data shows that 63.9% of those tested positive so far were aged between 21-50 years. As many as 22.91% were aged above 51 years. The positive cases include 13.18% who were below 20 years. Of the total cases, 60.44% were male and 39.37% female. Telangana's COVID-19 caseload crosses 2.80 lakh with 551 new cases

Hyderabad, <keyword id="68884" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Telangana">Telangana</keyword>'s Covid-19 tally crossed 2.75 lakh mark on Wednesday with the state adding 753 <keyword id="53748" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="new-cases">new cases</keyword> during the last 24 hours. Greater Hyderabad reported 123 new cases. Medchal Malkajgiri district saw the <keyword id="9252517" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="second-highest-number">second highest number</keyword> of new cases at 58 followed by Rangareddy (51), Warangal Urban (47), Karimnagar (37), Khammam (32) and Nalgonda (31). Three more persons succumbed to the virus, taking the death toll to 1,480. The fatality rate stands at 0.53 per cent against the national average of 1.5%. According to the director of public health and family welfare, 44.96% of the deaths were due to <keyword id="8764262" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="covid">COVID</keyword> while the remaining 55.04 were on account of comorbidities. <keyword id="1140122" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Recoveries">Recoveries</keyword> continued to outnumber daily count of new infections as 753 people recovered from the virus during the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative recoveries to 2,66,120. The recovery rate improved further to 96.67% against the national average of 94.6%. The state now has 7,661 active COVID cases and of them 5,576 were in home or institutional isolation. Over 90 per cent of beds in government-run hospitals treating Covid-19 in the state remained vacant. Out of 8,561 beds available in 61 government hospitals treating Covid, 7,790 beds were vacant. A total of 771 people were undergoing treatment in these hospitals. Similarly, in 220 private hospitals treating Covid, only 1,314 beds were occupied. Out of 8,472 beds, 7,158 were vacant. During the last 24 hours, 51,402 samples were tested - 47,959 in government-run laboratories and 3,443 in private labs. With this the number of cumulative tests has gone up to 59,19,635. Eighteen government-run laboratories, 54 private laboratories and 1076 Rapid Antigen test centres are conducting the tests in the state. Samples tested per million population ratio rose further to 1,59,044. Telangana recorded 753 new COVID-19 cases during the last 24 hours

Under flak from various quarters for its poor testing, the Telangana government doubled the daily number of tests. During the last four days, over 1.90 lakh tests were conducted. A total of 16 government and 31 private laboratories are conducting RT-PCR/CBNAAT/TRUENAT types of tests while there are 1,076 rapid antigen test centres. However, the authorities have not been providing breakup of the type of tests conducted. The samples tested per million population mounted to 29,146 against a daily testing target of 5,600 per day as per the World Health Organisation (WHO) benchmark of 140 per million per day. The results of 1,176 samples were awaited. Health officials said the case fatality rate in the state came down further to 0.69 per cent against the national average of 1.84 per cent. Out of the total fatalities, 53.87 per cent had comorbidities. The number of cases in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) spiked on Wednesday with the increase in overall numbers. The state capital reported 475 cases against 295 the previous day. Medchal Malkajgiri and Rangareddy district abutting GHMC reported 204 and 247 new cases respectively. Sangareddy, another district bordering the state capital, saw 88 new cases. Outside the GHMC and surrounding districts, Nalgonda was the worst affected district with 190 new cases followed by Khammam with 161 cases, Warangal Urban with 139 cases, Nizamabad with 136 cases, and Karimnagar 127 cases. Jagtiyal reported 100 new infections, Bhadradri Kothagudem 95, Siddipet 88, Peddapalli 85 and <keyword id="364763" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mahabubabad">Mahabubabad</keyword> 60. During the last 24 hours, 1,060 people recovered from Covid, taking the total number of recoveries to 85,223. The state's recovery rate stands at 76.30 per cent against the national average of 75.92 per cent. The number of active cases in the state stands at 25,685 including 19,113 in home/institutional isolation. Age wise Covid positive details show that 65.3 per cent of those tested positive were in the age group of 21-50 years. Terming this as a susceptible age group, authorities have urged them not to go out unless absolutely necessary. They were advised to strictly exercise precautions like wearing face masks and maintain physical distancing. Among Covid positive cases, 24.71 per cent are above 51 years of age. About 10 per cent were aged below 20 years. Officials said 64.41 per cent of those tested positive were male, while the remaining 35.59 per cent were female. According to the media bulletin, out of 20,396 beds in the government-run hospitals, 17,958 beds were vacant.
