The method was published on 8 April in the journal eLife <a href="https://elifesciences.org/articles/71624">‘Multi-omic rejuvenation of human cells by maturation phase transient reprogramming’. </a> The research was done by using ‘<keyword id="13677889" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="maturation-phase-transient-reprogramming" source="Orion">maturation phase transient reprogramming</keyword>’ to fibroblasts which is a common type of skin cell. The team took skin cells from three middle-aged donors, who aged around 50 years old. Once the research was completed, they compared them to younger skin cells from donors aged 20 to 22. They found skin cells were similar to younger cells, genetically and chemically. Further, the team also found that the techniques had affected genes related to age-related diseases such as cataracts and Alzheimer's. In addition, Gill and his team also examined the behaviour of skin cells that if why could also act like younger skin cells. According to them, when they wounded a layer of cells they found that the rejuvenated cells quickly moved to fill the gap similar to the behaviour of younger skin cells. This is not the first successful research on de-ageing cells. Earlier, Shinya Yamanaka, a Nobel prize-winning stem cell researcher, genetically reprogrammed the mouse skin cells and turned them into induced pluripotent stem cells, or iPSCs, back in 2006. These cells type had the potential to form any cell type in the body. Yamanaka's method took 50 days and completely reprograms cells to the biological age of an embryo. Gill's method only took 13 days. In a statement, Gill said, “Our results represent a big step forward in our understanding of cell reprogramming. We have proved that cells can be rejuvenated without losing their function and that rejuvenation looks to restore some function to old cells.” A stem cell biologist and co-founder of the skincare company Heraux, Ben Van Handel told <a href="https://www.livescience.com/skin-cell-rejuvenation-30-years-younger">Live Science</a>, “technique will never be used in a clinical setting as it is currently a type of gene therapy that would be impossible to use in humans." Researchers have discovered a de-ageing technique that made skin cells 30 years younger

<ul><li>Scientists have reversed the effects of ageing by putting young mouse poop in old mice.</li><li>The experiment reversed the key signs of ageing in the guts, eyes, and brains of older mice.</li><li>Earlier, Indian-origin doctor, Diljeet Gill used a new technique to make skin cells younger.</li></ul>The scientists from <keyword id="8171224" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="quadram-institute" source="Orion">Quadram Institute</keyword> have provided evidence from research, that transplanting faecal microbiota from young to old mice can reverse ageing signs in the eyes, gut, and brain of older mice. Professor Simon Carding, Head of the Gut Microbes and Health Research Programme said, “this groundbreaking study provides tantalizing evidence for the direct involvement of gut microbes in ageing and the functional decline of brain function and vision and offers a potential solution in the form of gut microbe replacement therapy.” According to these new findings we can assume, that gut microbes play a critical role in regulating ageing effects and open different pathways to explore gut microbe potential in anti-ageing therapies. The research is published in the journal <a href="https://microbiomejournal.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s40168-022-01243-w#author-information">Microbiome</a>. Further, research showed, that moving gut microbes from the poop of aged mice into younger mice showed the signs of ageing including inflammation and disturbed vision. It also showed a loss of integrity in the gut lining which can pass bacteria into the bloodstream. Age-related chronic inflammation- inflammaging were also activated in younger mice. The team is also working to understand how long positive effects can last and how components of the younger donor microbiota can impact organs distant from the gut. In addition, to facilitate such research, a new facility for <keyword id="13840553" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Microbiota-Replacement-Therapy" source="Orion">Microbiota Replacement Therapy</keyword> is being built in the Quadram Institue. Dr <keyword id="13840552" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="aimee-parker" source="Orion">Aimee Parker</keyword>, the lead author of the study said “we were excited to find that by changing the gut microbiota of elderly individuals, we could rescue indicators of age-associated decline commonly seen in degenerative conditions of the eye and brain. Our results provide more evidence of the important links between microbes in the gut and the healthy ageing of tissues and organs around the body. The protein is expressed primarily in patients with multiple myleoma, a form of blood cancer that affects plasma.Interest in BCMA as a target for cancer treatments is "building," Dr. Axel Hoos, senior vice president of oncology research and development at GlaxoSmithKline, told Business Insider. GSK is one of the companies developing treatments that go after BCMA. The interest in the target by other companies, including Bluebird Bio, which is taking a different approach to treating multiple myeloma, is a sign that the target is good, Hoos said. In a phase 2 trial of 35 patients with multiple myeloma, GSK's antibody-based treatment (that is, made of living cells) was able to get a 60% response rate to the treatment. "BCMA as a target has clearly become the centerpiece of immuno-oncology," Credit Suisse analysts wrote in a note Monday. <h2>A space for cutting-edge cell therapies</h2>BCMA as a target has also had success in the budding field of highly personalized cancer treatments known as <a href="http://www.the-scientist.com/?articles.view/articleNo/42462/title/The-CAR-T-Cell-Race/">CAR T-cell therapy</a> (CAR is short for chimeric antigen receptor). In a phase 1 trial of 18 patients conducted by the biotech company Bluebird Bio, 10 had a complete response (meaning the cancer had disappeared) to the one-time treatment after a median follow-up of 40 weeks. Bluebird was up by more than 24% on Monday following the new data from GSK. Cell therapies aren't your run-of-the-mill treatments. Since the therapy is made from a person's own immune system, the process can take about three weeks.To start, a doctor removes some white blood cells, the part of our body's immune system responsible for combatting infections and foreign substances, from a patient. In a healthy body, the immune system can recognize abnormal, cancerous cells, but for people with cancer, it doesn't recognize that the cells are spreading.Then the cells are taken to a manufacturing facility at which point the cells are reengineered to recognize cancer cells and wipe them out.
