Q&amp;A interfaces on top of AI are the biggest threat to Google and other information sources that monetize via traffic.<h2>3. A highly personalized AI-powered medical assistant will complement (and eventually replace) our General Practitioner</h2>If you ask ChatGPT about a medical condition, you get a comprehensive, often bullet-pointed answer that rivals anything you could construct from dozens of Google searches. Now, imagine if a more health-specific AI model were personalized for you, with a private database of every health result, every trend from your Whoop band or Apple Watch, your family health history, and every ailment you've ever had. Conversing with such a deeply informed resource would be 10 times better than our first line of defense today (Google) and could connect dots far better than we do on our own. I anticipate that the first line of healthcare will increasingly be AI-based, and we'll start seeing this in the next 24 months.<h2>4. Social media will evolve to offer "supercuts" of our lives </h2>Much like Netflix, we'll tune in to see the supercut of our lives presented as short and highly engaging AI-edited daily or weekly episodes. The vanity metric and competitive component of this new era of social apps will simply be your contributions "making the cut" among all of the stuff you and your friends record throughout the day. The AI editor/curator will decide what everyone in your group will find interesting (measured by previous allocations of attention) to determine what content makes the final cut. One team exploring this space is <a href="https://s-tud.io/">Studio</a>, a "group camcorder" taking off amongst teenagers. More generally across the next generation of social apps, the traditional social graph will continue to become less relevant as TikTok-like AI-powered algorithmic feeds determine what we see based on what we like. However, I am on the lookout for hybrid solutions that leverage both social graphs alongside AI-powered editing and curation.<h2>5. New tools and AI capabilities will make us all more expressive and creatively confident</h2>We are more creatively confident in kindergarten than we are as adults. Our confidence deteriorates as we become discouraged by comparing ourselves to others and the difficulty of learning how to use creative tools.But now free web-based tools with templates have helped us conquer the fear of the blank screen. Plus, powerful generative artificial intelligence enables anyone to express themselves creatively without a notoriously steep learning curve.As a result, the value of creative work will shift from outcomes to process and ingenuity. The original idea, the judgment, the innovations in process, and the story become more important than ever. Compensation models will shift from time-based to value-based. Do creative people get paid for their judgment and ideas, or their time? Historically, time has been the easiest measure of work and the most popular factor for charging for work completed. But, in an era in which much of our mundane and repetitive work is accomplished by AI-powered assistants, the time required for creative work has materially reduced.So, how do creators start charging for value added, as opposed to time spent? Perhaps there will be some mutually agreed upon pricing model that takes experience into account? Perhaps more creative teams will get compensated based on the performance of their work?One of the most exciting and under-discussed opportunities is new compensation models for creators to monetize the use of their style or likeness to generate original art or music. Compensation is ripe for re-imagination in the era of AI.<h2>6. Content creators will own their audience and some will become "platform-less" </h2>Content creators with mass audiences are seeking novel ways to own the relationship. Remarkable minds like <a href="https://twitter.com/SahilBloom">Sahil Bloom</a>, who shares curiosity and lessons learned in viral social threads, or <a href="https://www.instagram.com/drbeckyatgoodinside/">Becky Kennedy</a>, who (alongside my wife Erica) created <a href="http://www.goodinside.com">Good Inside</a> as an indispensable resource for parenting with over 1.6 million followers on Instagram, are increasingly unwilling to rely on a single platform. I have watched Sahil build a fast-growing Substack that has become a business in itself. And the Good Inside founders have launched a <a href="https://www.goodinside.com/">subscription-based community</a> that is off to a wildly successful start. In both cases, these subscriptions go way beyond lead generation; they are alternatives (or complements) to books and social profiles.As social platforms get insecure about losing their creator's content, they will respond in ways that spawn the era of "platform-less creators." We've seen Twitter's short-lived policy outlawing links to competing platforms, but they will surely continue to down rank tweets with outbound links. These behaviors to keep people onsite are anti-Creator. My friend Li Jin wrote a <a href="https://li.substack.com/p/the-new-creator-playbook-jumpstarting">great playbook for this new world</a> in which creators can leverage new tech to own their audiences. Ultimately, I believe all creators-turned-businesses will own their audiences through newsletters and personalized, subscription-based communities.Flawed censorship and moderation policies will cause operators of social platforms to act more as stewards than owners. Social platforms have been struggling more lately with the lines of censorship, policy, and active policing of content. The problem here is that the management teams of these social platforms are acting as owners (decide right and wrong) vs. stewards (we are here to serve the community, we will engage you in decisions, seek not to pass judgment, and strive for transparency whenever possible). One lesson learned building Behance to a community of 35 miilion highly opinionated creative people: you don't own a network, you are the steward of a network.<h2>7. We won't be able to trust our senses thanks to AI advancements </h2>Some of you may have seen <a href="https://twitter.com/scottbelsky/status/1603170899267551232?s=20&amp;t=Vo1YnGtkj_BIMKZmFjSxDg">this uncanny deep fake of Morgan Freeman</a> circling the internet. Clearly, we can no longer rely on our senses to determine truth. If you've been playing with any of the latest AI-powered video and editing features, you've likely realized: we're entering an age where we can no longer believe our eyes. The same tools that speed up workflows and empower creative professionals to create wondrous media are becoming easier to use and more powerful. We're just years away from anyone being able to render a conversation with the unmistakable voice and likeness of somebody else without their permission. Our human senses and judgment will be hackable by anyone."Verify, then trust" is the new "trust, but verify." It's an era of both wondrous creativity and new genres of risk. We must be imaginative not just about what can go right, but also about what can go wrong. Humans must develop new instincts to verify before we trust and become less prone to manipulation. We must usher in an era of attribution, where content shows WHO made it and HOW it was made (and unsigned content is assumed to be fake or AI-made). When humans see anonymous content without any verifiable "content credentials" about its origins (from open source efforts like the <a href="https://contentauthenticity.org/">Content Authenticity Initiative</a>), we must stop believing it by default.At Adobe, we are full steam ahead embracing this open source solution to enable creators to add content credentials but we need more engagement from both the content creation and social platforms of the world.<h2>8. Hyper-personalized experiences will enable an immersive era that is tailored to you.</h2>As people gain creative confidence, culture will change as fashion and life design (your furniture, wallpaper, etc.) becomes hyper-personalized. Today, the designs in your life are created by small teams and generalized for the masses. The clothes you wear, the media you consume, the digital dashboard in your car, the items in your home — they are all made by a few and generalized for as many as possible. But with widespread creative confidence will come a desire to culturally flex yourself through personalization. A large section of the country cannot be reached through traditional or the new-age mediums. Therefore, it becomes difficult for brands to get over the roadblocks of communication to reach out to this population, that forms a large part of the country. In such a scenario, telecom becomes an effective medium to reach out to this target population. The idea behind mSamvaad is to use the power of telecom as the key channel to engage, educate and create awareness through SMS, chat rooms and voice calls for one-on-ones as well as conference connections. Mindshare recently rolled out a high-scaled engagement program for Horlicks using mSamvaad, to reach out to mothers in the media dark areas of Bihar for its new variant that improves nutrient absorption among children. The aim of the program was to generate awareness on the brand's scientific credentials through an audio message recorded in the voice of legendary Bhojpuri star, Ravi Kishan. Mindshare says that the initiative saw a great response from the consumers. The Horlicks nutrient absorption communication reached 4 million unique users. The 10-minutes conference bridge saw a breakthrough of 29% completed listenership. Close to 81% recalled the new variant for its emphasis on nutrient absorption in children. Horlicks observed an increase of 33% TOM and 12% of L3M usage. We recently caught up with Niraj Ruparel, National Head – Mobile, Mindshare India, who spoke to us about the scope of this innovation and how brands can effectively use mSamvaad to reach out to media dark regions. Edited excerpts: Q) What is the primary idea behind mSamvaad? Every one of us prefers verbal communication over any other medium as it provides flexibility to express views very easily. Till now, there was no such platform available which could connect masses through this most preferred medium - voice. Most of the other platforms require stable internet connectivity which is another challenge in addition to the restriction on the number of participants on a live call. To address all these challenges, we decided to develop a platform through which large number of people can be connected and addressed live, even on a feature phone having no internet or smart features. That’s how the mSamvaad platform evolved over a period of time. Q) Are brands realizing the power of voice? Do you see more brands open to experimenting with voice? As I mentioned, voice is the most preferred medium of communication; especially in media dark areas. We have been working with top brands and advertisers in India and all of them use voice in some or the other form of communication with their TG. Brands are always looking for innovative ways to engage with the audiences and whenever we are able to create novelty in the voice space, they are always open to adopting it. In the past we have created tons of device-agnostic platforms on IVRS ranging from voice based prank call/tambola/gaming/riddle/humor station/music station, to name a few. In 2019, we have created a lot of engagement using voice skills on Google Assistant/Amazon Alexa for smart internet enabled devices. Q) Can you explain how the technology of mSamvaad works? The most important element of mSamvaad is the telecom infrastructure, that is, the calling lines and high-end data and application servers. mSamvaad has the capacity to connect 25,000 concurrent users on a live call and hence the infra plays a significant role. As a process, the conference moderator uploads the mobile database of these participants in the system to dial-out calls to all of them in parallel. Within seconds, maximum audience is connected on the platform along with the speaker who can be a celebrity, brand ambassador, or a leader. Now the speaker can interact with all of them. To have a controlled environment, by-default, all the participants except the keynote speaker are in mute stage so there is no noise. There is a live MIS Panel which keeps showing the attendees count along with their name and numbers, so the speaker and the conference moderator can view who all are connected on the call. Once the speaker’s address is over, the moderator invites questions; anyone can press any key on the mobile keypad to show the interest in asking question. Randomly, moderator unmutes a few participants, one by one, so that they can ask the question which everyone can hear. The speaker answers the question and takes the next question; likewise, few questions are taken. And in this entire process, internet or any other special app/feature is not required. Q) What are the benefits brands can derive from using mSamvaad? Personalization is the most important benefit of mSamvaad. Through mSamvaad, brands can connect with their consumers directly, one-on-one to address their queries and provide important information. Also, this is done at a large scale, so time and cost of this personalized communication is significantly less.

Michell Smith tells this story: Prior to his return to Apple, it was obvious that the company was in trouble. Larry Ellison had floated the idea of a hostile takeover of the company, but it seemed to some of us Apple watchers that then-CEO Gil Amelio's turnaround plan might work.
I wrote an impassioned email to Steve at Pixar, pleading with him to find something else to do with his time. And, in that millisecond, my life's single most regretful experience occurred. I replied, " Yes that's me...and WHO ARE YOU?" I pretended I didn't remember him at all.

<h3>Jobs met this woman who was smoking at dinner and did not like it one bit.</h3>
William Matthies and five others had dinner with Jobs in the early 1980s in New York: Dinner was over and while we waited for desert, Ann lit up a cigarette (remember this was the early '80's in NYC), holding it away and blowing smoke away from the rest of us at the table. Steve, who was seated next to Ann, gave no indication that this bothered him. He simply went on talking animatedly as he had all dinner.
At one point Ann put her lit cigarette in an ashtray the opposite side of Steve. He never looked at it but must have seen her put it down because without so much as a glance toward her or the cigarette, without breaking from whatever topic he was currently holding forth on at that moment, he reached across her, <a href="http://www.quora.com/Steve-Jobs/What-are-the-best-stories-about-people-randomly-meeting-Steve-Jobs/answer/William-Matthies">picked the cigarette up from the ashtray, and dropped it in her half full water glass</a>.

Randall Edwards met Jobs at an IT conference: I had to get back to work so I headed out of the hotel into a nearby hotel where my car was parked. I pressed the button for the elevator, the doors opened and there was ... Steve Jobs!
I told him how much I enjoyed his presentation and shook his hand. For the next half an hour he went on to rant pretty much non-stop... about the arrogance of Apple (!!!), the quality of their products, and anything unsavory you could think of. There were a lot of 'you Apple people' in there. I tried to break in and mention that we weren't really related to Apple (except the demo was running on a Mac Powerbook) but there was no stopping him.

… Then he comes back in. I was sitting down. He gets in front of the whiteboard and starts drawing notes. For the next I-don't-know-how-long he mapped out precisely how the product could be rolled out, the strategy for taking it to market, how it should be positioned, what other parts would be needed to fill in the gaps, all the way down to the features that should be taken out or added. It was the most amazing, useful, spot-on, and entertaining display of product management erudition I'd ever seen. He completely understood the product, the space, and what it could be used for.
<h3>The day Jobs visited a rival electronics store across the street from Apple in 2007</h3>
Mark Young remembers Jobs' appearance at the Helio store in 2007, located in Palo Alto across street from the Apple Store. Jobs had poked his head in once and the store staff did not recognize him: Two weeks later, the same manager was inside the store giving a demo of the amazing Helio smartphone to some prospective customers when he was interrupted by someone at the door. It was the same guy in the black turtleneck and blue jeans. "<a href="http://www.quora.com/Steve-Jobs/What-are-the-best-stories-about-people-randomly-meeting-Steve-Jobs/answer/Mark-Young-5">You guys STILL just don't get it, do you</a>???" the guy said in an elevated voice from the entrance of the store. He said "It is magical, I know it because I got this email: I was sitting in a café with my iPad, and it got a girl interested in me!." "So there's proof."

<h3>The day Jobs ate unrecognized at an Indian restaurant.</h3>
Anurag Wadehra was at the restaurant: So, it was with great amusement, we watched Steve raise his hand several times to attract the attention of the waiter, who summarily ignored him. As the only white guy in the restaurant, we thought he would be instantly recognized and served with special attention. Instead, <a href="http://www.quora.com/Steve-Jobs/What-are-the-best-stories-about-people-randomly-meeting-Steve-Jobs/answer/Anurag-Wadehra">he had the worst table in the house</a>. A bored waiter passed plastic menu cards at his family without giving a second glance. Eventually, he did get served with the mass efficiency of an overworked staff. My wife and I observed in awe as Steve and his family enjoyed a quiet meal in the riotous, inexpensive place in the heart of Silicon Valley. It dawned on us that no one in the restaurant had recognized Steve in his low key attire and a stubble. At the end, when no one came to his table to present the check, Steve rose up, dropped a few cash notes on the table and walked out, as the server wiped his table.
Just then, the manager walked by, and I asked him, "Did you know that was Steve Jobs?". He smiled and gave me the Indian head shake - a cross between yes and no. To this day, I don't know what he meant.

I had also worked at Sun Microsystems as a contract recruiter. In September of that year, Steve invited me to his offices on Deer Creek Road in Palo Alto for an informal interview. He was 45 minutes late. Phillip Remaker recalls: When I was at the University of Pennsylvania in 1989, some sales folks from NeXT did a demo of the NeXT Cube to some students at the Distributed Systems Lab. I noted on their business cards that NeXT email addresses were of the form firtname_lastname@next.com. "So I'd like to get this repaired," he said to the obviously bored cashier.
