Maruti Suzuki India registers highest-ever monthly sales in festive-filled October

<keyword id="21991719" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="passenger-vehicle-exports" source="keywords">Passenger vehicle exports</keyword> from India rose by 2.68 lakh units in the last four financial years with <keyword id="19931193" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Maruti-Suzuki-India" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Maruti Suzuki India" meta.hostid="153" meta.entityid="Maruti Suzuki India">Maruti Suzuki India</keyword> accounting for nearly 70 per cent of the <keyword id="21991720" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="incremental-shipments" source="keywords">incremental shipments</keyword> during the period. As per the industry data, passenger vehicle exports in the 2020-21 fiscal stood at 4,04,397 units. It rose to 5,77,875 units in the 2021-22 fiscal year and to 6,62,703 units in 2022-23 financial year. Last fiscal, exports stood at 6,72,105 units, an increase of 2,67,708 units since 2020-21. In the last three fiscal years, <keyword id="19909974" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Maruti-Suzuki" source="keywords">Maruti Suzuki</keyword> has accounted for 70 per cent of the incremental 2,67,708 units across the industry which were shipped to overseas markets. The auto major's export shipment increased by 1,85,774 units between FY21 and FY24. When contacted, <keyword id="21223168" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="maruti-suzuki-india-executive" source="keywords">Maruti Suzuki India Executive</keyword> Officer Corporate Affairs Rahul Bharti said that factors like addition of more models, adherence to global production standards and tie-up with Toyota have helped in ramping up the exports' volume. He noted that the company is currently exporting models to around 100 nations across the globe. Top overseas markets for the company currently are South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Chile and Mexico. Other major markets include the Philippines, Indonesia and Ivory Coast. MSI exports models like Baleno, Dzire, Swift, S-Presso, Grand Vitara, Jimny, Celerio and Ertiga. As per SIAM data, overall <keyword id="21991650" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="PV-exports" source="keywords">PV exports</keyword> stood at 6,72,105 units in FY24, an increase of 1.4 per cent over 6,62,703 units in FY2023. MSI exported 2,80,712 units last fiscal, an increase of 10 per cent over 2,55,439 units in FY23. Rival Hyundai shipped 1,63,155 units in FY24 as compared with 1,53,019 units in FY23, an increase of 7 per cent.

Overall shipments stood at 11,92,577 units in the first quarter the current fiscal year, as compared with 10,32,449 units in the same period of the last fiscal. <keyword id="20163833" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="passenger-vehicle" source="keywords">Passenger vehicle</keyword> exports stood at 1,80,483 units in the first quarter, registering a jump of 19 per cent over 1,52,156 units in the same period last year. <keyword id="19909974" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Maruti-Suzuki" source="keywords">Maruti Suzuki</keyword> India led the space with shipments of 69,962 units in the period under review. Three-wheeler shipments, however, saw a drop of 3 per cent year-on-year to 71,281 units in the April-June period this year as against 73,360 units in the year-ago period. SIAM President SIAM Vinod Aggarwal said it is a good sign for the industry that exports have started doing well. "I think that's a very good sign that exports seem to have bottomed out, especially in the commercial vehicle segment... we have started seeing the growth from the first quarter this year," he noted. Till last year, there was a huge drop in the export volume of trucks and buses, he added. "But <keyword id="20501879" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Q1" source="keywords">Q1</keyword> has been good even for two-wheelers and passenger vehicles. We are very positive that exports have started to recover," Aggarwal said. Automobile exports from India had declined 5.5 per cent in FY24 due to the monetary crisis in various overseas markets. Overall exports stood at 45,00,492 units in the last fiscal year as compared with 47,61,299 units in FY23.

Hyundai retakes the second spot from Tata Motors, records its highest-ever sales

<keyword id="44883" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="maruti-suzuki" source="Orion">Maruti Suzuki</keyword> India on Friday reported a whopping 80.3% increase in net profit at Rs 3,716.5 crore in July-September quarter driven by its highest ever sales, softening commodity prices, cost reduction efforts and higher non-operating income. The company had posted a net profit of Rs 2,061.5 crore in the second quarter of FY23, Maruti Suzuki India said in a statement. The car maker also said that it recorded its highest-ever quarterly sale volume, net sales and net profit in this quarter. During the quarter under review, the company registered net sales of Rs 35,535.1 crore, against Rs 28,543.50 crore recorded in the same quarter of the previous fiscal, owing to higher sales volume and product mix, it said. The company sold 5,52,055 vehicles during the quarter as compared to 5,17,395 units in the second quarter of last year. Of the 5,52,055 vehicles sold in the July-September period this year, 4,82,731 units were sold in the domestic market while the remaining 69,324 cars were exported, the company said The EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation) margin for the quarter stood at 12.9%. On a year-on-year basis, EBITDA rose nearly 73%, margin expanding by 360 basis points. Raw material costs as a percentage of sales fell 300 basis points from last year to 73.5% from 76.5%.

Maruti Suzuki Q2 profit jumps over 80% on highest-ever sales

Mumbai, <keyword id="19909974" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="maruti-suzuki" source="keywords">Maruti Suzuki</keyword> India's total vehicle sales, including exports, increased 5 per cent at 1,99,364 units in January from 1,72,535 units in the same month last year, the company said in a statement on Thursday. Maruti Suzuki's total vehicle sales rise 5 pc at 1,99,364 units in January

Passenger vehicle exports from <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword> rose 15 per cent in FY23 with Maruti Suzuki India leading the segment with dispatches of over 2.5 lakh units, as per the latest data by industry body SIAM. The total passenger vehicle (PV) exports stood at 6,62,891 units in 2022-23 fiscal as compared to 5,77,875 units in 2021-22. Passenger car shipments saw a 10 per cent growth at 4,13,787 units, while utility vehicle exports rose 23 per cent at 2,47,493 units during the last fiscal, the data by the <keyword id="1577311" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="society-of-indian-automobile" source="Orion">Society of Indian Automobile</keyword> Manufacturers (SIAM) showed. Exports of vans, however, declined to 1,611 units last fiscal, from 1,853 units in the 2021-22 fiscal year. Maruti Suzuki India (<keyword id="6392170" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="msi" source="Orion">MSI</keyword>) led the exports last fiscal in the passenger vehicle segment. It was followed by Hyundai Motor India and Kia India. Passenger vehicle exports from India rise 15% in FY23; Maruti Suzuki leads segment

<keyword id="44883" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="maruti-suzuki" source="Orion">Maruti Suzuki</keyword> India is looking to bring in more flexibility in its production processes in order to produce <keyword id="36810" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="vehicles" source="Orion">vehicles</keyword> as per the evolving market scenario, according to a senior company official. The country's largest carmaker is looking to strengthen the production of high selling utility vehicles while curtailing the roll out of the entry level cars. "Diverging <keyword id="6358993" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="demand" source="Orion">demand</keyword> patterns between utility vehicles and the small car segment is continuing. The company is working on increasing the flexibility in operations to produce vehicles as per the evolving market demand," Maruti Suzuki India Executive Officer Corporate Affairs Rahul Bharti said in an analyst call. He noted that the automaker has discovered that one of the reasons for the recent dip in the margins is because it was producing "some slow-moving cars". "And we did not have sufficient production <keyword id="6390515" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="capacity" source="Orion">capacity</keyword> for the cars that had demand. If we had the flexibility of both, whether it is semiconductor supplies or in-house production, we would probably have less of such a problem," Bharti said. Hence, it's a conscious move to increase the flexibility of production operations, he added. MSI currently has an installed production capacity of around 23 lakh units per annum spread across its plants in Haryana and Gujarat. Bharti said the initiative "comes at a small cost" as it involves a slightly suboptimal format of production. Elaborating on the drop in <keyword id="6357824" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sales" source="Orion">sales</keyword> of the entry level cars, he noted that the cost of acquisition has gone up disproportionately because of the increased regulatory intensity in the past few years. "And the income of the customer in this segment has not taken off. We are hoping that sooner or later, the income growth will catch up, and the small car segment will revive," he added. Bharti noted that the company has also seen reduction in first-time buyers. "...almost a 10 per cent reduction in the percentage of first-time buyers from the market for us. So, it's closely correlated. We are hoping that when the income growth in this segment of the population catches up with the increased cost, and the regulatory intensity does not move up further in the next few years, at some point in time, this segment should come back," he stated. According to the recent SIAM data, entry level car wholesales in India have dropped to 35,000 units in the second quarter this fiscal as compared to the peak of 1.38 lakh cars in July-September 2018-19. Replying to a query regarding overseas shipments, Bharti said that going ahead the company plans a three-fold rise in its exports volume by increasing its exports to 7.5 lakh to 8 lakh units a year by 2030-31. MSI continues to be the largest exporter of cars from India. "Our focus continues to be on Africa, Latin America, Southeast Asia and even the Middle East. Barring the US and China, we will be almost everywhere," Bharti said.

The country's largest carmaker <keyword id="44883" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="maruti-suzuki" source="Orion">Maruti Suzuki</keyword> <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword> on Wednesday reported a 12 per cent increase in total sales at 1,72,535 units in January. The company had sold a total of 1,54,379 units in the year-ago period, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL) said in a statement. Total domestic passenger vehicle sales were at 1,55,142 units as compared to 1,36,442 units in the corresponding period the previous year, a growth of 14 per cent, it added. Maruti Suzuki India Senior Executive Officer Marketing &amp; Sales Shashank Srivastava said the industry began with a low network stock because of high retails in December. "Therefore, the depleted inventory resulted in slightly muted retails, taking up the network stock to 1.84 lakh units. On the demand side, the enquiries and bookings have been steady despite price hikes done by several OEMs," he noted. Constraints of production still continue due to the semiconductor supply situation, which resulted in some loss in wholesales as well as retail, Srivastava said. This issue is expected to continue for a few more months, he added. Sales of mini segment cars, comprising <keyword id="6412620" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="alto" source="Orion">Alto</keyword> and S-Presso, grew to 25,446 units as against 18,634 units last month. Sales of compact cars, including Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, Tour S and WagonR, rose to 73,840 units as compared to 71,472 units in the year-ago month. Utility vehicles, consisting of Brezza, Ertiga, S-Cross and XL6, clocked sales of 35,353 units last month as compared to 26,624 units earlier. Sales of <keyword id="14869473" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="van-eeco" source="Orion">van Eeco</keyword> were at 11,709 units in January as against 10,528 units the previous year, while that of light commercial vehicle <keyword id="2702763" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="super-carry" source="Orion">Super Carry</keyword> stood at 4,019 units as against 3,537 units earlier. MSI said its exports last month stood at 17,393 units as compared to 17,937 units in the same month last year.
