The term broadly refers to loans made to companies and consumers by nonbank lenders. Historically, fund managers have sold "alternative assets" like private debt to institutional investors at a high cost, generating returns of around 10% in recent years — more than they would have seen from investing in the stock or bond markets.Now, as those institutions slow allocations to private credit, the biggest players in the space want to target a new class of investors. According to the Journal, firms like State Street, Apollo Global Management, and BlackRock are working to roll out private credit ETFs to regular investors. The challenge, though, is building a highly liquid ETF out of illiquid private loans. That hurdle is also what will likely draw the eye of regulators as they ensure the ETFs are appropriate for retail investors. But if these ETFs get approved, they will enable regular investors to tap into a booming market, one that BlackRock expects will more than double to $3.5 trillion by 2028. The race to launch private credit ETFs has heated up in recent months.In May, Capital Group and KKR teamed up to start offering funds investing in both public and private assets—including in private credit—starting next year.Last month, State Street proposed a private debt ETF to the Securities and Exchange Commission. Bair, who chaired the FDIC during the global financial crisis of 2008, said the government employed deficit-financed spending and tax relief during past crises in 2008 and during the 9/11 terrorist attacks of 2001.At the time, those were correct decisions, but the government has kept up that level of spending since, driving up the debt and creating a risk to the economy."Now, the resulting overhang of federal debt could itself be the cause of a future crisis," Bair wrote in an <a target="_blank" href="https://www.barrons.com/articles/national-debt-financial-crisis-harris-trump-investors-8608ce19">op-ed</a> last week.What's more, Bair said both presidential candidates lack plans to fix the debt, and their proposals will likely continue to drive government borrowing to sustainable levels. This research was conducted by ECU's Professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Pi-Shen Seet, in collaboration with Associate Professor Wee-Liang Tan from the Singapore Management University. It utilised panel data from the HILDA survey, commissioned by the Australian government and administered by the Melbourne Institute of Applied Economic and Social Research at the University of Melbourne. <ul><li>Shares of <keyword id="160447" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="hinduja-global-solutions" source="Orion">Hinduja Global Solutions</keyword> slipped 20% on Friday as investors were disappointed with the dividend amount announced by the company.</li><li>The company has declared a third interim dividend of ₹150 per share.</li><li>Analysts say the street expected about two times the dividend amount announced.</li></ul>Shares of Bengaluru-based information technology (IT) firm Hinduja Global Solutions crashed 20% in a single day as investors were highly disappointed with the company’s dividend announcement. The company has declared the third interim dividend of ₹150 per share for the current financial year FY22 along with a 1:1 bonus share issue, which means for every one share an investor holds in the company, he/she will get an additional share. However, this was below investors’ expectation considering the company had a good cash reserve after it sold its healthcare services business to Barings Private Equity Asia in August 2021 for an enterprise value of ₹8,906 crore ($1.2 billion). With this, the street expected two times the dividend offered by the company. “The company has around ₹8,000 crore of cash reserves at the moment and it has given a dividend amounting to ₹315 crore as dividend, which is not even 4% of cash reserves. The street expected a dividend of at least 5-10% of cash reserves,” Kranthi Bathini, director of equity strategy at WealthMills Securities, told Business Insider. In fact, shares of the company had risen about 19% since August, when the company announced the stake sale on expectation of a higher dividend. <div type="image" title="hinduja global" height="900" width="1200" msid="88751757" hostid="261"></div>“Dividend they have paid is much much lower than what the street was expecting. Two more Japanese banks are set to join 10 foreign and 16 local banks in the <keyword id="880043" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="tax-free" source="Orion">tax-free</keyword> <keyword id="6424024" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="gift-city" source="Orion">GIFT City</keyword>, where more than 550 businesses with assets worth USD 47 billion have registered and begun operations, an official said.. This marks a significant expansion of the GIFT City's <keyword id="34510" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="financial-sector" source="Orion">financial sector</keyword>, which is expected to play a key role in India's economic growth, International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) chairman K Rajaraman said here. "We also want Indian origin funds and businesses that are located in tax-free jurisdictions to return home and be part of the growing GIFT City hub," said Rajaraman, giving this update on the Ahmedabad-based city free trade zone, where ease of doing business procedures, processes and laws have become a benchmark for international standards. IFSCA is the regulatory body for the Indian special economic zones such as the GIFT City. Rajaraman said his recent delegation to Tokyo has resulted in two Japanese banks registering in the GIFT City, and more are expected as he continued discussions with potential businesses at the Singapore Fintech Festival being held 15-17 November 2023. "We are at Singapore Fintech Festival to promote the advantages of being in Tax-Free GIFT City," he underlined. He informed that 78 fund managers with 88 alternative investment funds, 82 funds with a corpus of USD 90 billion, as well as five insurance companies and two stock exchanges - GIFT CITY Nifty of National Stock Exchange and a bullion exchange are already part of the business community that the Indian government wants to establish and be part of the global financial network. "We believe a lot of India-focus business will certainly work out of GIFT City and a lot of fast growth is seen, he said, pointing out that 122 aircraft assets have been leased out tax-free city. "We have three electronic trading platforms - international trade finance solutions for bill factoring while there are insurance companies with international joint venture partners," said Rajaraman. The Singapore Fintech Festival had 650 companies from across the world.
