The Income Tax Department on Friday issued a notification allowing hospitals and nursing homes to accept cash payments of ₹2 lakh and more for the treatment of coronavirus infected patients. The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), that frames policy for the department, issued the notification. It said hospitals, dispensaries, nursing homes, COVID care centres or similar other medical facilities providing <keyword id="8918466" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="covid-19-treatment">COVID-19 treatment</keyword> to patients are being "specified for the purpose of section 269ST of the Income Tax Act". This section restricts any person from receiving an amount of ₹2 lakh or more in cash, from a person in a day, in respect of a single transaction or in respect of transactions relating to one event or occasion from a person. It was introduced by the Union government in 2017 as a measure to curb black money. The notification said the latest provision is being made for a period between April 1-May 31 "on obtaining the PAN or Aadhaar of the patient and the payee and the relationship between the patient and the payee" by such hospitals or COVID care centres. Officials said the move was aimed to remove the hardship being faced by relatives and caregivers of coronavirus infected patients who visit the hospitals for treatment. The country is grappling with the onslaught of a massive COVID-19 wave with a record over 4.14 lakh new infections and 3,915 deaths being reported in a span of 24 hours, as per the Union health ministry data updated on Friday. New Delhi, Apr 28 () Electric two-wheeler maker Okinawa on Tuesday said it has increased dealer margins by 3 per cent to 11 per cent per sale amid nationwide lockdown due to COVID-19 pandemic.The hike, from 8 per cent to 11 per cent, is effective from April 27 onwards until further notice, Okinawa said in a statement.The hike in dealer margins is expected to add up to Rs 2,000 per vehicle in a dealer's kitty, it added.If a dealer is selling 100 vehicles in a month, he will end up making an additional profit of over Rs 2 lakh.Okinawa currently has a sales network of over 350 dealerships across the country. "We understand that the country is going through difficult times. In this hour, everyone holds a responsibility to do their bit to make it easier for as many people, as possible," Okinawa Founder and MD Jeetender Sharma said.The company expects this move to give some respite to the dealers who have been struggling due to coronavirus-led lockdown, he added. Mumbai, May 8 () The impact of the COVID-19 crisis on petrochemicals and chemicals sector will differ across value chains, with segments like packaging witnessing an uplift, a report said. In the chemicals sector, the crisis has resulted in several Indian companies getting order inflows from global chemical players to meet the short-term supply disruptions from China, which is a credit positive for these players, rating agency Icra said. The report further said the lockdowns have adversely affected the demand for chemicals and petrochemicals owing to decline in consumption and shutting down of manufacturing plants, supply chains and distribution networks. Packaging, especially food packaging, sanitary and medical applications, are seeing an uplift mainly due to stockpiling, an increase in delivery services and the high healthcare-focused activities, it added. "The sharp decline in crude oil prices has significantly altered the ethylene cost curve. While earlier, natural gas and ethane-based crackers enjoyed a large cost advantage vis-a-vis mixed feed or naphtha-based crackers, the competitiveness of the latter has improved owing to the decline in crude oil and consequently naphtha/LPG prices," Icra Senior Vice President and Group Head, Corporate Ratings, K Ravichandran said. Accordingly, naphtha/LPG-based crackers are beneficiaries of a lower crude oil price environment, he added. "As for the Indian petrochemicals industry, which is primarily naphtha-based, it is a key beneficiary as tolling margins of ethylene crackers have improved. "While prices of various petrochemicals have declined for Indian manufacturers, the decline in prices of feed stocks has been higher, thereby improving the spreads," he added. Regarding impact on the chemicals industry, Icra said with pesticides getting placed under the essential commodities category, the functioning of the industry has been close to business as usual. Additionally, since the application of the agrochemicals begins by end-May and continues till September, the product off-take is not expected to be impacted, it added. While domestic demand is expected to remain stable, exports are expected to witness headwinds owing to challenges related to port handling and international logistics. Indian agrochemical industry imports a major portion of its raw material requirements from Chinese technical manufacturers. Nevertheless, with easing of the lockdown in China and the Chinese government offering export rebates to pesticide manufacturers, the production levels in China have reached around 70 per cent of the normal production levels. For the upcoming kharif season, agrochemical players are not expected to witness any shortage of raw materials. Icra Vice President and Co-Head, Corporate Ratings, Prashant Vasisht said in the initial phase of the lockdown in India, several specialty chemical players had to shut down their manufacturing plants, barring production of chemicals classified under essential commodities. "The production, however, is expected to resume soon as the government has relaxed various norms related to the lockdown. Additionally, owing to the over-dependence of global chemical players on Chinese supplies, the disruptions have sent global players scrambling for alternate supply sources. After realizing his standard order of a chicken burrito bowl with a free tortilla on the side was unavailable on Wednesday, Pallini decided to order Moe's instead. "Chipotle is normally so forthcoming with menu changes and constantly makes jokes about how guacamole is extra but this decision was implemented surreptitiously and shadily, in my opinion, behind our backs," Pallini said. "As a loyal Chipotle customer, I'm incredibly disappointed as my standard order will now cost extra." Previous new highs for margin debt occurred in January of 2007, January of 2013, and January 2017. After each of those instances, the S&amp;P 500 rallied 7.7% into the October 2007 secular bear market peak, 40.7% into May 2015, and 23.9% into January 2018, according to the note.The new January high in margin debt "confirms the new highs for the S&amp;P 500," BofA said.And margin debt has more room to run higher relative to the market cap of the S&amp;P 500, according to the note."Investors are not over-levered in terms of margin debt as a percentage of the S&amp;P 500 market cap, with room to run when compared to 2007 through 2018 peak levels," BofA said. Over fifty percent of likely voters from the surveys told Insider that they personally know someone who has been diagnosed with the virus.This breakdown comes from an aggregation of nine polls taken between August 8 and October 12.
