<ul><li>Skoda recently launched the Kylaq SUV, the company’s latest entry-level subcompact SUV.</li><li>The company has announced its plans to launch an electric vehicle in India in 2025.</li><li>The Skoda Enyaq EV’s updated version will debut in India next year.</li></ul>Skoda Auto will roll out its electric vehicle in the Indian market in 2025. In an exclusive interaction with ANI Skoda Auto Brand Director Petr Janeba says Skoda's European bestseller, the Enyaq EV, was initially slated for an Indian debut this year but postponed to next year for an updated version. Janeba says a significant facelift planned for the model in March has led the company to hold off until the new version, featuring Skoda's latest design language, is ready. He said, "We have one of the best-selling EVs in Europe our European Enyaq. The car was tested, and the car was prepared for India. We have actually stopped bringing the car this year. Because there will be a huge facelift of the Skoda Enyaq coming in March following the new design language." He added, "We actually can choose one of the three EV cars coming to India or all three." Skoda is closely monitoring India's changing EV policies, especially the CAFE3 (Corporate Average Fuel Economy) norms set to be introduced in April 2027. On further investment in India Janeba highlighted the importance of a consistent regulatory environment, as state-level EV and hybrid tax policies currently vary widely, impacting long-term planning. "And within this plan, we understand nobody can survive in India without having a deeper localised CKD EV in India. We are ready for this. We are ready in Pune to make another investment for the car and for the production to get it. At the end of the day, we still take our time in order to decide the right measure car for the market, seeing the new competitors coming on the EVs." Said Janeba Skoda already has two manufacturing units in India, in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar and Pune. EVs are planned to be manufactured in their Pune plant For the production, he stated, "In the same factory in Pune, Chakan we will be producing EVs. Currently we have increased because of the Kylaq the production capacity in Pune to 250,000 units a year and we will be increasing further once it is needed either for the current cars because of the export or because of the Indian demand or for the new cars like EVs." The facility is also set to support EV production with deep localisation efforts to make Skoda's electric lineup more affordable for Indian consumers. Piyush Arora, India CEO, Skoda Auto echoed this sentiment, expressing confidence that Skoda's expanded product offerings will capture the growing sub-four-meter SUV segment, a category that represents nearly 30 per cent of India's automotive market. "With the new Kodiaq and other upcoming models, we are aiming for a 5 per cent market share in the medium term," he added. Skoda's commitment to India extends beyond manufacturing. Arora highlighted the company's investment in local engineering talent and its dealer and supplier networks. "Our technical centre in India plays a crucial role in developing products like the Kodiaq, which was fully designed in India," he noted, calling it a testament to India's engineering prowess and the company's long-term vision for the region. Skoda plans to launch an updated electric vehicle in India in 2025

The <keyword id="19898327" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ipo" source="keywords">IPO</keyword> of <keyword id="14070439" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="Waaree-energies-limited" source="Orion">Waaree Energies Limited</keyword> (WEL), India's biggest manufacturer and exporter of solar PV (photovoltaic) modules, opens for subscription today and is set to close on October 23, 2024. The IPO worth Rs 4,321.44 crore is a combination of a fresh issue worth Rs 3,600 crore and OFS (offer for sale) worth Rs 721.44 crore. Retail investors, who are being offered about 35% of the total issue pie, can bid for a minimum of 1 lot, which includes 9 shares, taking the minimum investment amount to Rs 13,527. With the listing set for Monday, October 28, 2024, the company has set a price band of Rs 1,427 to Rs 1,503 per share. However, prior to the stock's debut on the bourses, the company's <keyword id="19931032" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="gmp" source="keywords">GMP</keyword> (grey market premium) has been scaling fresh highs. As of today, <keyword id="1415709" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Waaree" source="Orion">Waaree</keyword> Energies GMP was Rs 1,475, taking the potential listing price to Rs 2,978. This means that the expected gain per share from the stock's listing is a whopping 98.14%. The company's GMP has been on a steady rise, inching up from Rs 1,280 on October 15, 2024, to Rs 1,475 today. However, today's GMP was a tad bit down from the Rs 1,510 levels it was trading at yesterday. <h2>About the company</h2>The company, which operates 4 manufacturing facilities in Gujarat, India, commenced operations in 2007. As of FY24, it commands a 21% share in India's domestic solar module manufacturing space and a healthy 44% share in its exports from the country. In just 3 years, the company has exponentially increased its manufacturing capacity, from 2 GW in FY21 to 13.3 GW in FY24. Waaree will be utilizing the proceeds from the issue to set up a 11.4 GW integrated manufacturing facility. Out of this, a 5.4 GW solar cell manufacturing facility will be operational in Chikhli next year. Another 6 GW establishment in Odisha, which is expected to be functional by FY27, will produce ingots, wafers, and solar cells. The company has recently also been awarded orders worth Rs 19 billion under the government's PLI (Production-Linked Incentive Scheme). The company's bottom line, i.e., financials, have also been going from strength to strength over the past few years. Waaree's revenue from operations stood at Rs 1,13,976.09 million as of FY24, up from Rs 28,542.65 million in FY22. Its PAT (<keyword id="142274" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Profit-after-tax" source="Orion">profit after tax</keyword>) also took a massive jump, from Rs 796.5 million in FY22 to Rs 12,743.67 million in FY24. The company also reported PAT margins of 2.70% in FY22, 7.29% in FY23, 10.96% in FY24, and 11.47% in the first quarter of FY25. During these years, WEL's basic EPS (earnings per share), a measure of the company's profitability, also inched up 3.84 in FY22 to 48.05 in FY24. However, the company is not without its share of risks. The most prominent of them is its heavy reliance on its top 10 customers and export revenue. As of FY24, they contributed 56.77% and 57.64% to the total revenue, respectively. <h2>Subscribe for the long-term</h2>Experts are largely recommending subscribing to this IPO for the long term. Per InCred Equities' IPO note, "In 1QFY25, the company’s revenue was at Rs 34 billion (+2% YoY), while EBITDA and PAT stood at Rs 5.5 billion (+18% YoY) and ~Rs 4 billion (+19% YoY), respectively. Based on FY25F annualized financials, the IPO’s higher band implies an EV/EBITDA of~18x and a P/E of~27x, which is at a discount to its peers, in our view. We recommend subscription to the IPO, given the strong financials, strong industry tailwinds with long-term opportunities in the solar industry, robust order backlog, and further expansion plans." Bajaj Broking also shares these views, albeit it notes that the issue appears to be fully priced rather than being on discount. "If we attribute FY25 annualized super earnings to its post-IPO fully diluted paid-up equity capital, then the asking price is at a P/E of 26.91, and based on FY24 earnings, the P/E stands at 44.36. The issue relatively appears fully priced. We recommend subscribing to this IPO for the long term," it continued. Per Anand Rathi Research, the company's offer is reasonably priced with a PE of 26x (per FY25 earnings) and a market cap of Rs 4,31,786 million. "We believe that, with solar energy emerging as a key global theme in the transition to renewable energy, WEL is well placed to capitalize on the growing opportunity given its leading market share, strong financials, and continued focus on innovation and sustainability with capacity expansion through backward integration. We recommend "subscribing” to this IPO issue," it explained.

The iPhone contract manufacturer's Singapore-based arm Foxconn Singapore Pte has bought over 120.35 crore stocks of Foxconn Hon Hai Technology India Mega Development Pvt Ltd at Rs 10 per share on August 21. The <keyword id="19896017" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Karnataka" source="keywords">Karnataka</keyword> government in a statement last week said Foxconn is planning to invest Rs 25,000 crore to establish a massive manufacturing <keyword id="20102134" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="plant" source="keywords">plant</keyword> near Dodda Ballapur that will create 40,000 jobs. "The unit in Karnataka will soon become the second-largest Foxconn plant after China's unit. It will create 40,000 direct jobs, especially for middle-level educated individuals, and our <keyword id="19895437" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="investment" source="keywords">investment</keyword> will not stop here; in the future, we plan to explore other sectors also," Foxconn Chairman Young Liu was quoted as saying in the statement. Foxconn infuses ₹1,200 crore in Karnataka unit

French sports retailer <keyword id="19948511" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Decathlon" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Decathlon" meta.hostid="153" meta.entityid="Decathlon">Decathlon</keyword> on Wednesday said it will <keyword id="19954634" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="invest" source="keywords">invest</keyword> 100 million euros (around Rs 933 crore) in <keyword id="19895063" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="India" source="keywords">India</keyword>, its one of the fastest growing markets, in the next five years to expand <keyword id="19992513" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="retail" source="keywords">retail</keyword> footprint and <keyword id="19914449" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="manufacturing" source="keywords">manufacturing</keyword> operations. The company expects its business to become double in next three to five years, said Decathlon India CEO Sankar Chaterjee. The company plans to have a network of 190 stores, having presence in over 90 cities in next 5 years as part of its expansion, he added. Besides, a handful of this would also be spent on enhancing the digital channel as per the omni-channel approach of the company. Decathlon will expand its manufacturing operations and increase sourcing from india for the local market and its global operations. Currently 68 per cent of the goods sold in India are locally produced. Besides, 8 per cent of Decathlon's global product range are also met through India manufacturing. "We are aiming to take the domestic manufacturing for Decathlon India to 85 per cent by 2026," Chaterjee said. Decathlon plans to add 10-15 new stores every year, accelerating online sales and increasing local sourcing as part of expansion. Decathlon Global Chief Retail and Countries Officer Steve Dykes said India now plays an important role for the company. "India is a unique and exciting market with numerous opportunities. We have commitments to accelerate our efforts in india to make societal impact to inspire more and more Indians to play," he said. Dykes further said Decathlon will explore new sales channels as B2B to increase its impact. "We have a potential for India to play more and more and their role in Decathlon research and design and processes, over 2 million people are engaged globally in sports activity with a Decathlon clay app, and we have a big commitment in developing a future talent that comes from India, he said. In March Decathhlon had said India is a "big priority" market and expects it to be among its top five global markets within five years. Decathlon to invest 100 million euros in India in next 5 years to expand retail, manufacturing

The Indian cement industry is on track to reach 5.09 billion tonnes by 2028-29, driven by robust government investment in infrastructure. According to an IANS report originally attributed to Infomerics Ratings, this marks a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4.9 per cent between 2024 and 2029. In 2022-23, the industry’s market size stood at 3.82 billion tonnes, with a total installed capacity of 622 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) in FY24 and production at 427 million tonnes. Notably, India contributes over 8 per cent to the world’s total installed cement capacity, highlighting its importance in the global market. Despite this, India’s per capita cement consumption is 260 kg—significantly below the global average of 540 kg—indicating substantial room for growth. Globally, the cement market is projected to grow at a CAGR of 4.3 per cent from 2024 to 2032. The sector’s expansion is fuelled by ambitious government initiatives, including an allocation of ₹11.11 lakh crore for infrastructure in FY25 and housing schemes like Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. The construction sector consumes 55 per cent of cement production, while public infrastructure projects account for the remainder. The industry also plays a critical role in employment, providing direct jobs to over one million people and creating downstream opportunities for about 20,000 individuals per million tonnes of cement produced. Private players dominate the sector, controlling 98 per cent of production capacity, while public sector units hold a mere 2 per cent. Domestic production meets almost all demand, with imports accounting for just 0.2 per cent of total production in FY23. However, exports have declined recently due to reduced global demand and rising competition. India currently has 341 cement manufacturing facilities, including 159 integrated large cement plants, 120 grinding units, and 62 mini cement plants. Cement production has seen steady growth, with a 7.1 per cent increase in September 2024 and a cumulative growth of 1.6 per cent between April and September of FY25, according to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. This growth aligns with India’s overall industrial performance, which saw a 2 per cent rise in core industries in September, led by cement, steel, coal, and fertilisers. As India invests heavily in infrastructure and housing, the cement industry is set to play a pivotal role in supporting the nation’s economic and developmental goals. (with IANS inputs)
