Amaravati, Sons of at least six former Chief Ministers of <keyword id="19896313" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="andhra-pradesh" source="keywords">Andhra Pradesh</keyword> will be in the fray for May 13 simultaneous polls to the Andhra Pradesh <keyword id="19906943" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="assembly" source="keywords">Assembly</keyword> and Lok Sabha while daughters of two former Chief Ministers are also likely to join the race. Leading the list of high-profile candidates is the Chief Minister and <keyword id="20270569" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ysr" source="keywords">YSR</keyword> <keyword id="19895371" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="congress" source="keywords">Congress</keyword> Party (YSRCP) President Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. The son of the former Chief Minister of erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh late Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy will be seeking re-election from the Pulivendula constituency in YSR family's home district Kadapa. Pulivendula has been considered a pocket borough of the YSR family since 1978. Jagan Mohan Reddy will be seeking re-election from here for a third consecutive term. His sister and state Congress Chief Y. S. Sharmila is likely to enter the fray from the Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency to challenge the sitting MP and cousin Y. S. Avinash Reddy. Kadapa has also been the stronghold of the YSR family since 1989. Children of another former Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) founder N. T. Rama Rao will also be testing their political fortunes. Interestingly, like YSR, the children of <keyword id="20237138" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ntr" source="keywords">NTR</keyword> will also be contesting on tickets of different parties. NTR's son and popular actor N. Balakrishna will be looking for a hat-trick as MLA from the Hindupur constituency. NTR himself was elected from Hindupur in 1985, 1989 and 1994. His elder son N. Harikrishna was also elected from here in the by-poll held in 1996 following the death of the thespian. NTR's daughter D. <keyword id="21049483" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="purandeswari" source="keywords">Purandeswari</keyword>, who is president of the state BJP, is also likely to contest for Parliament. A former union minister, Purandeswari had quit Congress to join the BJP in 2014 after the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. TDP and BJP are contesting the polls in alliance with the Jana Sena Party of popular actor <keyword id="20009920" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="pawan-kalyan" source="keywords">Pawan Kalyan</keyword>. Former Chief Minister and TDP President N. He had unsuccessfully contested the same seat in 2019. Chairman of Jana Sena's Political Affairs Committee, Manohar was elected to the Assembly of the united Andhra Pradesh from Tenail in 2004 and 2009 on the Congress ticket. He had served as the last Speaker of the united Andhra Pradesh Assembly. Earlier, Bhaskar Rao was elected from Tenali on Congress ticket in 1989. Former Chief Minister Kotla Vijayabhaskar Reddy's son Kotla Jayasurya Prakash Reddy will be contesting for Assembly from Dhone constituency. He will take on Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy of YSRCP. Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy was elected from Dhone on Congress ticket in 1994. Jayasurya Prakash Reddy's wife K. Sujatha Reddy was also elected from the constituency on the Congress ticket in 2004. Former Chief Minister N. Janardhan Reddy's son N. Ramkumar Reddy will be testing his political fortunes from Venkatagiri Assembly constituency on YSRCP ticket. He is making his electoral debut. Janardhan Reddy contested on the Congress ticket from Venkatagiri in 1989. His wife N. Rajyalakshmi had also been elected twice from here in 1999 and 2004.

Though most social entrepreneurs self-fund their enterprises during inception, they experience growth challenges due to limited fund availability. TiE Sustainability Summit to enable $100 million funding for Social Enterprises

Despite scoring a narrow victory, BJP's Panaji assembly candidate Atanasio Monserrate on Thursday blamed the party's cadre and workers for unofficially supporting former Chief Minister late <keyword id="6363133" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="manohar-parrikar" source="Orion">Manohar Parrikar</keyword>'s son Utpal over him. Speaking to reports after claiming victory over <keyword id="7519855" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="utpal-parrikar" source="Orion">Utpal Parrikar</keyword> who contested as an independent candidate, Monserrate said BJP workers also worked against his wife Jennifer who contested the elections from adjoining Taleigao assembly seat, also on a BJP ticket. "I am telling you, I feel the BJP cadre has not accepted me in the party. I look at it that way. That is the reason. If he (Utpal) could get so many votes, it means the cadre shifted their votes to him. I can say only that the BJP leadership here did not manage to do damage control," Monserrate said, after claiming a victory with 700 odd votes. The result has not been formally announced by the Election Commission of India yet. "Secondly, BJP workers also worked against Jennifer. To give you one insight, the president of the BJP women's cell was sitting on the Congress table on the day of elections," he said. Monserrate and his wife Jennifer joined the BJP as a part of a 10-member breakaway unit of Congress legislators in 2019. "I never expected this result... The BJP has not accepted me in the party. I joined BJP two years ago, but the BJP cadre has not accepted me in the party. The party did nothing from day one," Monserrate said. When asked to respond to Monserrate's comments, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that he would "analyse them later". Describing the contest against Monserrate, Utpal Parrikar who made his electoral debut, said that the contest was a "good fight". Winning BJP candidate blames party for supporting Manohar Parrikar's son in Goa

New Delhi, Naveen Patnaik is the best performing <keyword id="5269" type="POSITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Chief-Minister">Chief Minister</keyword> followed by Delhi's <keyword id="260213" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Arvind-Kejriwal">Arvind Kejriwal</keyword> and Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy of Andhra Pradesh, while <keyword id="43868" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mamata-Banerjee">Mamata Banerjee</keyword> has her credibility intact despite the BJP's onslaught on the ruling Trinamool Congress in West Bengal, as per the <keyword id="10603557" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="voter-state">Voter State</keyword> of the Nation 2021 survey. Patnaik, who is one of the longest serving Chief Ministers in the country, is ranked No. 1 in the country with 78.81% of the people endorsing him in <keyword id="6357961" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="odisha">Odisha</keyword>. BJP-ruled Uttarakhand's <keyword id="2253089" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Trivendra-Singh-Rawat">Trivendra Singh Rawat</keyword> is the least performing Chief Minister in the country with only 0.41% of the people in the state approving him. In Odisha, 68.57% of the people are very much satisfied with Patnaik's work, while only 10% are not satisfied and 20% are satisfied to some extent. In Delhi, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has an approval rating of 77%, with 57% saying they are very much satisfied, 31% saying they are satisfied and only 11% saying they are not satisfied with him. First-time Andhra Pradesh CM Jagan Mohan Reddy of the YSR Congress Party is ranked third with an approval rating of 66.83%. Only 16% of those surveyed in the state said that they are not satisfied with him. Incidentally, all the top three Chief Ministers are from non-BJP/non-Congress ruled states. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat is ranked 23rd, the lowest, with only 26% of the people saying they are satisfied with his work. A whopping 49% said they are unhappy with Rawat's performance while the rest are 'ok' with his work. The other two Chief Ministers who have got poor ranking are from Haryana, ranked second last, followed by Punjab. In Haryana, only approximately 23% people are very much satisfied with the performance of <keyword id="2458540" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Manohar-Lal-Khattar">Manohar Lal Khattar</keyword>, followed by Punjab where 22% people are very much satisfied with the work of Amarinder Singh. While the Punjab Chief Minister has got a nett approval of 9.81%, his Haryana counterpart has a nett approval of 8.2%. The Chief Ministers of Kerala, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh have been ranked 4th, 5th and 6th in the survey, respectively. In poll-bound West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee's popularity is soaring with 52% approval. However, in another poll-bound state of Tamil Nadu, K. Palaniswami has only 30% approval and is ranked 19th in the list. The survey was carried out among over 30,000 respondents across the country. It’s only the matter of right mentorship to divert them to that direction and help them build a scalable enterprise. Meanwhile, it is also true that the social enterprise has been lost in the shine of Indian startups that have the potential to over attract attractive returns. Many only take notice of this social segment in the name of tax rebates and corporate social responsibility. Recently, a panel constituted by the market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) advised the setting up of a ‘social stock exchange’. It would work like a regular stock exchange except that the firms listed on it would be non-government, social enterprises. This would help many of these upstarts raise money for their ventures. “The new technologies, when I, when we say sustainability, when we are committed to sustainability. We have to commit to new and new technologies in the energy space, it is how energy is produced, maybe the solar photovoltaic technology or the advancements in the solar technologies in our renewable energy technologies and how we store that and how we disseminate it,” Reddy said, adding this is just an example hoe opportunities can be created by making technology that don’t emit carbon dioxide. He added that there are social aspects to sustainability too, which offer better life and livelihood to people. The criteria for selecting the award winners, according to Mr Kali Prasad Gadiraju, Past President of TiE Hyderabad was Current and Future Social Impact; Demonstration of Leadership, Alignment with SDG, Leadership Potential; Fundability, current funding; Vision and Growth so far; Revenue model and its long term sustainability; Value proposition, Differentiation and Intellectual Property etc. These 115 were selected out of 30,000 social enterprises registered for the Summit. They were shortlisted in five different phases. Awards were announced in five categories: TSS Social Enterprise of the year; TSS Transformational Social Enterprise of the year; TSS Innovative Social Enterprise of the Year; Emerging Social Enterprise of the year and TSS Women Social Entrepreneur of the year. A certificate and a trophy will be door delivered to all award winners. TiE Hyderabad is also planning to publish a small coffee table book highlighting the award-winning social enterprises and their journey. These coffee table books will be distributed to aligned partners, thus we will put them in front of the right partners, announced Mr Manohar Reddy at the concluding function. The summit was included on a positive note. It was the world's largest event in the Sustainability space has saw 40,000 social enterprises, startups and entrepreneurs attending from 64 countries. 30,000 out of 40,000 registered were social enterprises. It was a record and distinction, no one can boast of anywhere in the world. <ul><li>PM Modi urged all the MPs to follow parliamentary procedures saying the session is important as the nation is going to elect a new President and Vice-President.</li><li>The counting of votes will be done on July 21 and the winner will take an oath on July 25.</li><li>The elections are expected to be in favour of Murmu as she may be able to garner 60% of the votes.</li></ul>Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday said he is confident that NDA's Presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu will win the elections with a huge margin. "Murmu is an inspirational personality and I am sure that she will be winning the elections with a huge margin as she will be getting more votes than expected, an official statement quoting Khattar said. The Chief Minister said this while interacting with the media after casting his vote for the post of President in the Assembly here. Till 12.30 pm, 48 votes were cast in the Assembly. "The NDA and the UPA candidates have their own voting calculation, I am completely sure that NDA candidate Draupadi Murmu will win the election by a huge margin and will take oath on July 25," said Khattar. He said Murmu would set an example and be a source of great inspiration among other women. "Murmu is going to become the second woman President of India, while she will be the first woman from the tribal society to be elected to the post of President." Responding to a question, the Chief Minister said whether it's about selecting a presidential or vice-presidential candidate, the NDA has always preferred choosing good and educated candidates. "The NDA candidate for the post of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar hails from Rajasthan and has been a lawyer by profession. The NDA has certainly given a good message by fielding him for the post of the Vice-President," added Khattar. In the 90-member assembly, 89 MLAs cast their vote in the Assembly complex, while Congress MLA Kuldeep Bishnoi, who had cross-voted in last month's Rajya Sabha polls, cast his vote in the Parliament House. In the Haryana Assembly, the vote value of each of the MLA is 112, which pegs the cumulative value at 10,080. Ahead of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday urged all the MPs to follow parliamentary procedures saying the session is important as the nation is going to elect a new President and Vice-President. "Elections for the office of President and Vice-President are being held in this session. Voting (for the Presidential election) is taking place today. The Congress, this morning, moved adjournment motion in Lok Sabha on LPG price hike and suspension of business notice in Rajya Sabha on Agnipath scheme. A total of 24 new bills will be introduced in the upcoming monsoon session, including Press and Registration of Periodicals Bill, 2022. "The Bill seeks to replace the Press and Registration of Books (PRB) Act, 1867 by decriminalisation of the existing Act, keeping the procedures of the extant Act simple from the view point of medium/small publishers and uphold the values of Press Freedom". It may see stiff opposition as it is said that this bill is being brought to control the small publishers and digital media. The Opposition has already alleged that the government is trying to stifle the voice of dissent in the country. Another important bill is Energy Conservation (Amendment) Bill, 2022, which seeks to provide a regulatory framework for Carbon Trading in India, to encourage penetration of renewables in energy mix, and effective implementation and enforcement of the Energy Conservation Act. The polling for the next president began at 10 a.m on July 18, at the Parliament House and the state legislative assemblies. And around 4,800 member of parliament and legislative assemblies have started casting their votes to elect the 15th President of India. PM Narendra Modi, Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin, UP CM Yogi Adityanath have already casted their votes. As many as 162 out of 175 MLAs in Andhra Pradesh exercised their franchise in the Presidential election till 1.30 pm here on Monday. The TDP has one member in Rajya Sabha, three members in Lok Sabha besides 23 MLAs (including three rebels).The BJP has one MP in Rajya Sabha. Though technically the Jana Sena has one MLA, he has been sailing with the YSRC since his election in 2019. The Congress has no presence in AP.As such, all votes from AP are in favour of Murmu. In the 2017 presidential election, the Congress had four Rajya Sabha members who supported the then opposition candidate. As the TDP was then part of the NDA, it voted for the latter's nominee, along with the alliance partner BJP. The YSRC, then in opposition, also voted for the NDA candidate. She has experience in handling diverse ministries like transport, commerce, fisheries and animal husbandry in the Odisha government. Murmu started her political career as a councilor and later became the vice-chairperson of the Rairangpur National Advisory Council or NAC. In 2013, she became a national executive member of the party's Scheduled Tribe Morcha in Odisha. In 2007, the Odisha Legislative Assembly honoured her with its Best MLA of the year award. SEVERAL ISIS SYMPATHISERS ARRESTED 
 
Nearly twenty people with suspected Islamic State links were nabbed from across the country in just a single day on Friday. This was the biggest crackdown on ISIS sympathizers in India. Six men, including a chemical engineering dropout, detained by the National Investigation Agency in Karnataka is suspected to have links with the Islamic State. According to reports, the raids were carried out after Indian intelligence agencies received tip-off from the CIA. Cops recently arrested four more men in Uttarakhand last Wednesday on suspicion of planning an attack in Delhi. Security officials said the four had been under surveillance for several months after their online activities drew suspicion, including contacts with people in territory in Iraq and Syria controlled by the Islamic State group. Police said the men had also been planning strikes in Haridwar, where thousands of devotees are now gathered for the Ardh Kumbh festival. 
 
SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITIES 
 In Panaji, Goa Police have stepped up security in the state and were investigating a postcard received by the State Secretariat and warning to harm Prime Minister <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword> and Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar. In Mumbai, the police are yet to trace six mysterious paragliders who were seen near the city’s coast on January 13. Authorities said they have taken the incident seriously because of a 2010 intelligence report that the terrorist group <keyword id="53557" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Lashkar-e-Taiba">Lashkar-e-Taiba</keyword> had procured 50 paragliders from Europe and was conducting a training in Pakistan to launch an aerial attack. Authorities in Madhya Pradesh are on alert after a suspected terrorist named Syed Ahmed escaped from police custody by jumping off a running train on Wednesday night at Hoshangabad, about 70 km south east of Bhopal. 
 
ENEMY’S FRIEND IS ALSO AN ENEMY 
 French President Francois Hollande is the Chief Guest of the republic day celebrations at a time when France is engaged in an air-strike against ISIS following the <keyword id="2677655" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Paris-terror-attacks">Paris terror attacks</keyword>. Extra paramilitary forces were deployed in New Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru, where the French consulate received a letter warning against its president’s presence at India’s Republic Day celebrations. Police are investigating the source of the letter which said Francoise Hollande should cancel his trip to India beginning Sunday. Bangalore’s additional commissioner of police, Chengal Reddy, told reporters that the letter--written in poor English and mentioning al Qaeda--has still not been ruled out as a hoax. 
 
CARJACKING FOR TERROR PURPOSES 
 
Delhi Police on Friday issued an alert after the driver of a taxi hired by three unidentified persons from Pathankot was found dead in Kangra district in Himachal Pradesh, in the aftermath of the airbase attack. The taxi driver, identified as Vijay Kumar, a resident of Gaggal village in Kangra district, was found dead on Wednesday at the Kalta bridge in Kangra and his taxi missing, police said. In a similar incident, on Tuesday night an SUV belonging to a top ITBP official had gone missing from his residence in Noida. These activities are suspected to have been done by terror outfits like ISIS who are notorious for car-bomb attacks in Iraq and Syria could use them as potential weapons to target to carry out blasts in crowded places. 
 
POSSIBILITY OF LONE WOLF ATTACK 
 
Mohammad Sirazudin, an executive of the Indian Oil Corporation, who was arrested in Jaipur in December 2015 for allegedly spreading ISIS activities online and trying to recruit Indian youths in the Middle-East terrorist group, was allegedly on the verge of turning into a ‘lone wolf’. With increased activities of ISIS supporters online, the government has taken the threat of this dreaded terror group seriously and asked states to remain alert against the possibility of ‘lone wolf attack’ in the country. The threat of ISIS was discussed threadbare at a meeting of top officials of central intelligence and investigative agencies and police of 13 states on Saturday which was chaired by Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
