IT company <keyword id="43217" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="tech-mahindra" source="Orion">Tech Mahindra</keyword> expects to soon hit USD 7 billion revenue run rate for the current fiscal year, out of which the telecom vertical is estimated to contribute USD 3 billion, a top official of the company said on Monday. Tech Mahindra Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer CP <keyword id="45924" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="gurnani" source="Orion">Gurnani</keyword> told PTI that the company has hit a run rate of USD 1 billion (about Rs 8,300 crore), from 5G solutions that it provides to telecom companies. "We are at an annual revenue run rate of USD 6.6 billion. We expect to reach USD 7 billion run rate for this fiscal. Telecom vertical is expected to contribute USD 3 billion to this. We have already touched a revenue run rate of USD 1 billion from 5G services," Gurnani said at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2023. Tech Mahindra posted a 5 per cent decline in consolidated profit after tax at Rs 1,297 crore for the December quarter. Revenue from operations, however, increased 20 per cent to Rs 13,734.6 crore from Rs 11,451 crore a year ago. Tech Mahindra President, Communications, Media and Entertainment Business, and CEO, <keyword id="659906" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="network-services" source="Orion">Network Services</keyword>, <keyword id="644257" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="manish-vyas" source="Orion">Manish Vyas</keyword> said 50 per cent of the company's business comes from the American region, 30 per cent from Europe and 20 per cent from the rest of the world. "We believe this trend will continue because we have invested in these geographies. All the sectors within telcos, be it the growth of fibre, fixed wireless, new product build and all the transformation on the digital side, have continued to provide us growth," he said. Talking about the impact of the global macroeconomic situation on the company, <keyword id="30343" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="vyas" source="Orion">Vyas</keyword> said uncertainty still remains across the globe and there will be intense pressure on the cost of services. "The overall macroeconomic situation still remains uncertain. People will need to conserve as we go forward. It is an important opportunity for us to continue to drive cost optimization through simplification. The broad macroeconomic situation also will evolve as we come out of this uncertain time. People will need to continue to innovate more. Particularly with the whole focus on generative AI as well as the way metaverse will be used by enterprises," he said. Vyas said that globally the company has acquired 42 new logos this year to whom it is providing network transformation including solutions for private 5G networks. "It is essentially a network on the cloud, software-defined network and private network. The growth driver has been a requirement of enterprises to simplify their operations and modernise tracking of their business data," he said. Gurnani said several companies are engaging with Tech Mahindra to simplify, modernise and monetise their networks, and the rollout of the 5G network across the globe will continue to drive the business of the company. "We are very keen to look at how the rollout of 5G and deployments will happen. It is a big year from a deployment standpoint. It is a big year for the modernisation of the digital stack. I think telcos will look to find adjacencies with fintech, learning, manufacturing, IoT etc for growth. We are very excited about 2023. There are a lot of case studies that will emerge in all these areas," Vyas said. TechM expects $7 bn revenue run rate this fiscal, $3 bn from telecom

New Delhi, March 31 (IANS) Bharti <keyword id="15491" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="airtel" source="Orion">Airtel</keyword> and <keyword id="43217" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="tech-mahindra" source="Orion">Tech Mahindra</keyword> on Thursday announced a strategic partnership to co-develop and market 5G use cases in India. Airtel and Tech Mahindra will set up a joint 5G innovation lab for developing 'Make in India' use cases for the domestic and global markets. "With proven technology capabilities and deep customer trust enjoyed by the two brands, we believe this is a win-win partnership," said Ganesh Lakshminarayanan, CEO-Enterprise Business, Bharti Airtel. Airtel has been spearheading 5G demos and testing in India while Tech Mahindra has developed world-class 5G applications and platforms. It was founded in 1770 in the UK and India is one of the most important countries for the brand. On a larger level, India is not just a growing market for deodorant brands from a consumption point-of-view but also a leading exporter of raw materials for fine fragrances. According to the Ministry<a href="https://msme.gov.in/fragrance-flavour-industry-india"> of MSME,</a> the global fragrance and flavour industry is worth $24.10 billion and India contributes approximately $500 million to the total pie. The use of deodorants and fragrances in India have been seeing a steady rise in the last few years. The growth rate in India has been ~11% in the last few years but is projected to grow exponentially in the upcoming years due to rising personal care, brand awareness, increasing disposable income, growing demand among Tier II and III demographics and affordable prices of fragrances. To cast a wider net in the country, Yardley recently announced the launch of their new campaign ‘Nature Like Freshness,’ with Kriti Sanon as the new face of the brand. We speak to Manish Vyas, Business Head of Yardley India about the launch of the brand's new campaign, thought behind onboarding Kriti Sanon as its brand ambassador and larger goals ahead. Q. Can you tell us how Yardley's journey has been in India? Yardley is a very revered English brand with a legacy of 250 years and known for its craftsmanship in fine fragrances across the globe. Yardley in India, through its wide array of offerings across personal care and fragrances comprising deodorants, daily wear perfumes, compact perfumes, eau de toilette and eau de parfum, has been admired and is amongst the top 3 players in the female fragrance category. In the last three years, in spite of difficult market conditions, the brand has witnessed strong and steady growth. Q. You recently roped in Kriti Sanon as your brand ambassador. What inspired you to onboard her? The brand stands for modern, confident and independent women who always want to ‘step up’ in life. Kriti is a talented actress who has made a place for herself in Bollywood and has done a mix of glamorous and meaningful movies. We felt that she therefore fits the bill and her appeal will help take the brand message to millions of her followers. Q. What is your objective behind the relaunch and getting Kriti as your brand's face? How do you want to position yourself in the market now with a new brand ambassador and new outlook? Yardley fragrances have always been inspired by nature and its fragrance is derived from exotic flowers from the gardens of England. In the relaunch, we want to highlight the unique benefit of nature’s freshness. Nature like Freshness is about offering consumers unique exotic floral fragrances that will uplift their mood and transport them into the lap of nature. We have reworked all our deodorant sprays, and they are now made of 90% naturally derived ingredients that ensure it delivers on its proposition. The association with Kriti will help us take this new brand appeal to many new young consumers. Q. How would you say Yardley's marketing strategy has evolved over the years? Yardley already has a strong latent brand equity in India. The brand has been used through its traditional offerings across generations. The attempt in the last few years is to extend the appeal to young consumers and appeal to them through contemporary product offerings. Amongst various steps in the direction we have launched many new formats like compact perfumes, daily wear perfumes, shower gels etc. Our “step up with Yardley” campaign in the last few years has helped us in this agenda. In the new campaign, we are focusing on the natural offering of the brand basis the fact that in most of its categories, the products are over 90% naturally derived. We have used celebrities like Katrina Kaif in the past – and we are glad to have Kriti Sanon as the latest face of the brand. Q. What would be your larger marketing strategy as you move forward? Moving forward, marketing efforts would be towards recruiting young users for Yardley across categories by having product offering and communication that is relevant and unique Q. What would be some of your focus areas for H2 2021? With a large part of urban India vaccinated and with out-of-home mobility overall coming back to pre-covid levels in most parts of the country, we expect the demand to bounce back for the discretionary categories. We plan to focus on riding with these tailwinds and grow our shares with our new fragrance portfolio. We believe that the campaign with Kriti will help us do that and will also help overall brand run rates. Q. What are your expectations from the festive season this time? How are you planning on leveraging the uptick in consumer sentiment this year? With the tough part of pandemic behind us, we expect consumers to indulge in revenge shopping. We are already seeing the uptick in the pent-up demand being converted into business. We expect the same to continue for the next two quarters. The category will overall see an increase in spends by all players and this will further help the category grow much faster. We believe that with the appeal of our new portfolio will help us get new users for the brand Q. Considering the relaunch, how have you increased your marketing spends? Even during the pandemic we have been investing in marketing with specific needs in regional markets. Now we plan to increase our spends and bring back investments across the country. Q. What is your larger vision for the brand? We intend to be the leader in women’s fragrance category with offerings across price points and formats. We are planning to enter some sub-segments which are significant and growing.

Tech Mahindra chief CP <keyword id="45924" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="gurnani" source="Orion">Gurnani</keyword> wants to transition from being a long serving captain in the IT industry to a "coach" after he retires from the company in December this year. The nomination and remuneration committee has extended the tenure of Gurnani till December 19, 2023 as it looks to work on the succession plan of Gurnani. While he did not divulge any further details on the succession plan, sources have indicated that internal candidates -- <keyword id="2493116" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="jagdish-mitra" source="Orion">Jagdish Mitra</keyword>, Manish <keyword id="30343" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="vyas" source="Orion">Vyas</keyword>, <keyword id="2173310" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="lakshmanan-chidambaram" source="Orion">Lakshmanan Chidambaram</keyword> are among top contenders for the post. Jagdish Mitra is currently serving as Chief Strategy Officer and Head of Growth, who has been with the group for last 30 years; Vyas is serving as President, Communications, Media and Entertainment Business, and CEO, Network Services and been with the company for last 23 years and <keyword id="6362104" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="chidambaram" source="Orion">Chidambaram</keyword>, currently serving as President for <keyword id="16133454" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="tech-mahindra-americas" source="Orion">Tech Mahindra Americas</keyword> and been with company since December 2012. Gurnani said that the succession plan will be finalised by the committee as per the corporate governance norms of the company. "I've done the same business for a very long time. I became a CXO at the age of 38 and am now stepping down at the age of 65. All I'm trying to say is that I've been a playing captain for a very long time. I will become a coach. I will no longer be a playing captain," Gurnani said. One of the longest serving CEOs in the technology sector, Gurnani told PTI that would like to see the other side of the world and pursue things that are close to his heart. "I have been one of the longest serving CEOs of the technology sector. I think it is fair that I get to see what the other side of the world looks like and I'm not talking about travel. I'm talking about a few things that I've always wanted to do in life. It is also good for the corporation that we get a new leader because a bit of rotation is like getting more oxygen into the system," Gurnani said. While talking about business, Gurnani said Tech Mahindra will continue to deepen its presence in Japan and Europe and look at opening delivery centres closer to the home of its employees. "I have always been a very big admirer of Japan, I will continue to create much deeper business interest in Japan. Frankly, I think Europe is a big opportunity now. Because overall Europe has felt the impact of the war. "The war has been closest to them. Every individual in Europe has paid a price by inflation and higher energy bills. I believe that some of our cost transformation initiatives would be very helpful to European clients. So, my focus will be Japan and Europe," he said. Gurnani said that the technology sector has matured and they have continued to serve their consumers, businesses, enterprises and corporates around the world by not taking a position. "The only area where there has been some conversations is there organizations which are using cyber attacks as a weapon," Gurnani said but declined to reveal further details. When asked about a broad strategic action plan that the company is planning to put in place this year, Gurani said that Tech Mahindra will look at distributing delivery centres across the country and near to the homes of its employees. "We continue to make technological investments in the future of technology. Right now it is AI, cloud, metaverse and we have already started investing in quantum computing. We want to be ahead of the curve. There are some of our products which I think will be able to commercialize them a lot better," Gurnani said. Yardley launches a new campaign with brand ambassador Kriti Sanon

New Delhi, May 10 () IT company Tech Mahindra expects 5G rollout, demand for home connectivity and digitisation will drive business growth in the coming days, senior officials of the company said.The company expects short term setbacks for businesses due to coronavirus pandemic, however, telecom clients will support the business growth. "There will be some headwinds, and those headwinds will be common to everybody, but company continues to innovate, continues to leverage every of my acquisition and certain businesses where the expansion is likely to happen faster, for example, digital, for example, healthcare, we are doing a double click or a double drilling," Tech Mahindra MD and CEO CP Gurnani said in an investors call.According to the details uploaded on the company's website, 93 per cent employees in the company's IT team and around 85 per cent in the business process services were working from home after the lockdown was announced.Tech Mahindra CEO for Network Services Manish Vyas said that major service providers continue to remain focused on investment in network expansion and 5G services."The new workspace is clearly shifting more towards the home and that is something telcos, particularly the large ones who have been incumbents, they are all going to be looking at that product mix and all looking at digitisation and strengthening the product mix with home as the new access of growth," Vyas said.He said that a lot of discussions are going on telecom players towards digitisation of homes.During the lockdown, most of the employees across businesses are working from home.IT major TCS has already announced plans to allow 75 per cent of employees to work from home by 2025.Tech Mahindra in the quarter ended March 31, 2020 reported 29 per cent dip in the March quarter consolidated net profit at Rs 803.9 crore owing to narrowing of margins due to factors including a surge in COVID-19 related costs.For the 2019-20 financial year, the Mahindra group company reported 6.15 per cent decline in net profit at Rs 4,033 crore. Tech Mahindra expects 5G, home connectivity to drive growth

Mumbai, June 15 (IANS) As part of its efforts to overcome the shortage of blood during the Covid-19 pandemic, the Maharashtra health department on Monday said it decided to make use of a Facebook tool to strengthen blood donation drive in the state. In India, more than 45 million people have registered themselves as blood donors on Facebook, the social media giant said. Maharashtra took the step to use social media to drive blood donation through the State Blood Transfusion Council (SBTC) after blood stock in the state declined during the Covid-19 lockdown. During the lockdown, blood donation camps were not organised on a large scale to avoid crowds and prevent corona infection. "Now the lockdown in the state has been relaxed in some manner. Blood donation feature on Facebook will be used along with the blood donation camps, being organised by social organisations to meet blood requirements and to help the needy patients of other ailments as well as corona patients" Pradip Vyas, Principal Secretary of the state health department said in a statement. He further informed that in this initiative, about 71 government blood banks across the state will be trained to use the blood donation feature on Facebook. "We are committed to bringing people and communities together through our platform," said Manish Chopra, Director and Head of Partnerships, Facebook India. Maharashtra to use Facebook tool to steer blood donation drive

Information technology group <keyword id="43217" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Tech-Mahindra">Tech Mahindra</keyword> is partnering with U.S.-<keyword id="6355882" type="COUNTRY" weightage="80" keywordseo="israel">Israel</keyword>i <keyword id="317833" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Comverse">Comverse</keyword> Inc to set up a research and development centre in Israel.

	 
	The two companies did not disclose financial details.<o:p></o:p>

	Manish Vyas, president of Tech Mahindra's communications group, told Reuters the deal -- which would bring the Indian company hundreds of engineers -- will help the firm more than double its engineering business revenue within a few years. The company does about $400 million annually in engineering, about half of that is in telecoms.<o:p></o:p>

	"Engineering is a very large part of our business but we want to make it even bigger. We believe it can be a billion dollars annually in the next few years," he said. "Given the culture of <keyword id="107737" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Entrepreneurship">entrepreneurship</keyword> in Israel we need to be here."<o:p></o:p>

	Under the "strategic relationship", Tech Mahindra will be responsible for R&amp;D and customer services while Comverse will be in charge of product management and sales.<o:p></o:p>

	The venture into Israel by Tech Mahindra, which is part of the $16.5 billion Mahindra conglomerate, is the latest sign of booming ties between the countries since Indian <keyword id="71" type="POSITION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Prime-Minister">Prime Minister</keyword> <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword> came to power last year.<o:p></o:p>

	Tech Mahindra Executive Vice Chairman <keyword id="82760" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Vineet-Nayyar">Vineet Nayyar</keyword> said the company's global activities will be concentrated in three countries - India, the United States and Israel.<o:p></o:p>

	Tech Mahindra, which employees over 98,000 people in 51 countries, will take on about 400 Comverse workers, up to 300 from Israel and the rest mainly from the United States, France, Japan, Bulgaria and India.<o:p></o:p>

	Comverse last year began a restructuring that included reducing its workforce by 14 percent.<o:p></o:p>

	"We hope to gain access to world class talent," Vyas said. "We have a big presence in Europe, India and the U.S. (But) Israel was missing from the global footprint in terms of talent."<o:p></o:p>

	About half of Tech Mahindra's business is in telecoms with the rest from banking, healthcare and manufacturing.<o:p></o:p>

	Tech Mahindra owns Israel's Leadcom, a provider of network services for telecom companies, after it bought Leadcom's parent Lightbridge Communications in February.<o:p></o:p>

	Leadcom has about 25 workers in Israel and Vyas said the company is still working out what the relationship will be between Leadcom and the Comverse staff.<o:p></o:p>

	He said Israel fits in nicely with the company's long-term strategy, which includes a programme that enable employees to start up their own businesses with equity from Tech Mahindra.<o:p></o:p>

	"Given the culture of entrepreneurship in Israel we need to be here," Vyas said.<o:p></o:p>
