"There has been no shooting in all the 11 studios of any sort since this morning," a spokesperson of the <keyword id="22586110" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Directors-Guild" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Directors' Guild" meta.hostid="83" meta.entityid="Directors' Guild">Directors' Guild</keyword> said. The technicians' body is also slated to meet later on Monday on their boycott. While producers also came forward in support of directors' demand. Directors Association of Eastern India in a statement on Sunday night said: "In deference to the wishes and sentiments of majority of directors, the association has decided to go for indefinite cease work on shooting floors from Monday (July 29) till the problem faced by directors are addressed in an amicable and proper manner." In a facebook post titled #directorsinsolidarity, prominent filmmakers including Aparna Sen, Kaushik Ganguly, Srijit Mukherjee, Arindam Sil, Indrasis Acharya, Indradip Dasgupta, Kamaleswar Mukherjee, Atanu Ghosh and others said despite the Directors Guild allowing Rahool Mukherjee to helm the shooting of the untitled film (by SVF), the first-day shoot could not take place on July 27 at a city studio as the technicians stayed away. "This was extremely humiliating for directors and actors present at the shooting floor. As demanded by many directors after this development we suggest until the technicians under the federation agree to take part in the shoot accepting Rahool Mukherjee as director, till then we will be forced to go for non-cooperation," the statement said. The directors further asserted federation cannot impose its will in an arbitrary manner without seeking any acceptable solution. "The way technicians of the federation have been forced to non-cooperate with Rahool Mukherjee is ominous for the entertainment industry and insulting for every single director, the statement said. "Any disruption of shooting will affect actors, directors, technicians, producers - every stakeholder in the industry - which will do no good... We therefore call upon every side to sit for talks for the interest of industry and iron out differences. If required the artist's forum can mediate to resolve the issue. Let's not allow the situation to snowball into a major crisis that will only affect everyone in the industry as well as the audiences," the forum earlier said. The forum is the apex body of actors in the entertainment industry in Bengal. Federation of Cine Technicians and Workers of Eastern India (FCTWEI) president Swarup Biswas said Mukherjee was being debarred from directing films for three months for violating norms by visiting Bangladesh for shooting another movie without intimation to the federation and taking the help of technicians in Dhaka. Biswas told reporters that while it had been amicably decided earlier that Rahool Mukherjee would be the creative producer of the film to be shot from July 27, the call sheet given to them for the shoot still referred to Rahool Mukherjee as the director and he was seen taking every initiative during the shoot. "This was seen as violating the spirit of our agreement and we technicians don't want to work under the instruction of Mukherjee who had not taken any technician from Kolkata to complete 10 days of shooting of an OTT film 'Lohu' in Bangladesh earlier this year," Biswas said. "Mukherjee himself had admitted his mistake at the first meeting with the federation and guild earlier in July but now retracting." The untitled film produced by SVF mired in uncertainty starred Prosenjit Chatterjee, Anirban Bhattacharya and Priyanka Sarkar. SVF which was behind the project had stated that Soumik Haldar would now direct the film while Rahool Mukherjee would be the creative producer. It has actually shrunk because of the very high prices in April and May, partially coming down in June and then July,” Angshu Mallick, CEO, Adani Wilmar told Business Insider India. Its refined oil sales, under the <keyword id="1385434" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="fortune-oil" source="Orion">Fortune Oil</keyword> brand, was lower by 5.6% as compared to last year. This, however, has more to do with rural India’s spending power than the prices. “The demand in rural areas will continue to be slow in the second quarter also because they would look forward to a better crop, which they will harvest only from October onwards. So from the money point of view, farmers will not have any great money. I don't think rural demand will be any robust,” Mallick told Business Insider India. Smaller packs, cheaper brands Since oil is a household essential, consumers, the company says, are downgrading to smaller packs and cheaper brands. Adani Wilmar’s own edible oil brands at the lower rung like King’s and Aadhar, have performed better in some rural pockets. “In every FMCG category, we have seen that consumers have shifted to masstige brands or popular brands rather than premium. From premium, they have downgraded and we have seen that in edible oil also,” said Mallick. Masstige brands are mass-market brands which are priced lower than premium but still retain a ‘brand’ value. Apart from masstige brands, Adani also saw more demand for mustard oil from rural India. “When it comes to mustard oil, we have seen that Fortune mustard oil has much stronger equity than the masstige brands because consumers are afraid of any adulteration. So, here our Fortune has done much better,” said Mallick. However, the trend of smaller packs has pushed up its volumes as consumers are now buying four to five times a month. “If a single payment is ₹150 a litre, consumers have to pay out almost ₹2,500 for a 15 litre pack. So, paying ₹2500 altogether by a rural or a small-town consumer is definitely tight and tough. Against that, they can always pay ₹100 and buy a half litre bottle or ₹200 for one litre,” Mallick said. Also, after two price slashes in two months, they do not want to buy large quantities as they hold on to hope of another price cut.

High-profile YouTubers can potentially earn over $100,000 on average a month from <keyword id="35666" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="advertising">advertising</keyword> revenue in exchange for their millions of views coming to their channel. In an age where more marginalized creators and influencers are marketing themselves and centering their cultural identities to speak to their audience, white influencers and mainstream companies have at times decided to take advantage - co-opting a trend to incorporate cultural traits into their branding. "White celebrities and influencers who are choosing to <keyword id="2485968" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="blackfish">blackfish</keyword> are taking pieces and parts of Black <keyword id="24504" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="culture">culture</keyword>, commodifying it, without having any understanding of the experience of what it is like to be Black in America today," Mita Mallick, a diversity and inclusive executive, told Insider.First defined by Canadian journalist Wanna Thompson, "blackfishing" is the act of impersonating a person of African descent for financial gain and exposure. "Blackfishing is a way for white celebrities and influencers to momentarily, temporarily present themselves as stylish, unique, or exotic to their audiences," Mallick added. Critics point to celebrities like Kylie Jenner, who has made a billion-dollar empire modeling surgically enhanced features that many African American women have been taunted over - even subjected to racial caricatures. Brands also use white and racially ambiguous models to leverage their marketable traits into marketing campaigns that can attract Black customers, all while not alienating their white consumers. A report by <a href="https://qz.com/1971689/fashion-brands-arent-keeping-their-instagram-diversity-promises/">Quartz</a> showed how brands including Dior and Sephora have still fallen short at including darker skin tones in the campaigns and advertising after the racial injustice protests that began last year and million-dollar pledges to promote inclusivity. After surveying 27,000 images across 34 brand Instagram feeds, findings show the median skin tone had barely changed from before the protests began. Monk argued when "there's profits to be had, popularity, money, attractiveness," can both "go hand in hand with Eurocentric values around physical appearance of beauty."<h2>Advocates blackfishing is rooted in anti-Blackness and colorism</h2>Mallick explained that marketing's colorism issue and its aversion to hiring darker-skinned models to be the face of their advertising campaigns <a href="https://hbr.org/2021/05/marketing-still-has-a-colorism-problem">incentivizes discriminating hiring</a>. "There is still a strong bias that exists that says dark-skinned models don't sell," she told Insider via email "That's because many of our current Western beauty standards continue to celebrate the all-American beauty, who is a thin, blonde, blue-eyed woman." Despite the high earning potential influencers and public figures may stand to gain from 'blackfishing,' Black influencers are still struggling to get paid their fair share. Last summer, an Instagram account called <a href="https://www.instagram.com/influencerpaygap/?hl=en">Influencer Pay Gap</a> exposed how several prominent Black influencers struggled to get paid fairly for their work. In June, Black TikTokers went on strike, stating that they were tired of being overlooked by brands while white influencers get access to profitable brand deals. The toll isn't just an economic and social one, but also psychological. Monk cited constant erasure as having damaging effects on young peoples' mental health."As a Black woman, as a Black girl, you're growing up in a society in the United States that is systematically devaluing how most of you look," he says.For many, blackfishing isn't just offensive but also harmful to Black consumers, particularly Black women subjected to racial stereotypes for not fitting into European beauty standards.Mallick said that, unchecked, the act renders darker-skinned Black women voiceless and invisible - stifling any "opportunity to shatter stereotypes they face, to ensure they are authentically represented, and to start shifting the cultural narrative." "If Black girls aren't seeing themselves reflected in the world around them, it limits their view of what they think they can do, what they believe they can be," she said. "You can't create anything for a community without that community having a seat at the table, a voice at the table, and for their voice to matter and to be heard."

Even in August, with its three long weekends, over 50% of the respondents noted that they would take trips that last anywhere between one and three daysdays.
