How do these drugs cause weight loss? Apart from the injectable, GLP1 receptor agonists and SGLT2 inhibitors are other types of diabetic drugs available in the market that have been found to be effective for weight loss. “These drugs act through various mechanisms, for instance, they work by increasing the removal of glucose from the body via urinary excretion, thereby leading to the loss of calories from the body,” Dr Brij Mohan <keyword id="76127" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="makkar" source="Orion">Makkar</keyword>, senior diabetologist, president RSSDI told Business Insider India. According to <keyword id="15635207" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="dr-makkar" source="Orion">Dr Makkar</keyword>, Inj Semaglutide 2.4 mg (Wegovvy), which is FDA-approved and is a GLP1 receptor agonist, is said to be the most popular anti-diabetic weight loss drug. Inj Semaglutide drug acts on the brain to reduce appetite, slow gastric emptying, and reduce blood pressure to some extent, all of which have favourable effects on the metabolism. This drug suppresses appetite through its action on the brain, which gives a feeling of fullness. “The drug has been studied in many clinical trials and found safe. The injection needs to be taken once a week and continued for the long term,” Dr Makkar said. He also believes that they do not cause major side effects. “The side effects, if any, are usually mild and subside shortly after treatment initiation,” he added. Are they affordable? In addition to weight loss, anti-diabetic drugs help control other metabolic diseases too. GLP1 receptor agonists and SGLT2 inhibitors also help protect against cardiovascular events. “These classes of drugs showed cardiovascular benefits in studies,” Dr Reddy added. SGLT2 drugs also help in preventing heart failures and are now being used as the first treatment by cardiologists, even among non-diabetics, according to Dr Mohan. Other drugs like <keyword id="123712" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="metformin" source="Orion">Metformin</keyword> (Biguanide family),Glucosidase inhibitors are found to be effective in losing weight. “Metformin remains the primary treatment in type 2 Diabetes. Its mechanism is at central hypothalamic and peripheral gastrointestinal effects glucosidase inhibitor by delaying carbohydrate absorption from gastrointestinal tract,” Dr Somashekara Reddy, consultant - diabetology &amp; endocrinology, Fortis Hospitals, Bangalore told Business Insider India. Another diabetic drug called Liraglutide is recommended by doctors for purely weight loss in many countries like the USA, even among non-diabetics, Dr Mohan added. However, none of the SGLT2 inhibitors have received approval for weight loss so far, in India. Weight loss drugs themselves are few in India. “Currently, only one approved weight loss drug is available in India, and it acts by blocking the absorption of fat. But the drawback is that it is a very mild drug and helps in losing only about 4% of the body weight. It acts differently than diabetes weight loss drugs,” Dr Makkar said. Dr Mohan also highlighted that these two classes of drugs – GLP1 and SGLT2 agent drugs — are highly expensive and beyond the reach of a common man. In 2022, the new year resolutions of young Indians today have far less favours to ask from the almighty. They want to tackle inflation, monitor health and balance their relationships instead. Business Insider India talked to a few youngsters to know their new year resolutions and here are some of the findings. ‘Become brand ambassador of revenge travel’ Rohan Singh, a 25-year-old working professional from Pune has only one resolution, to ‘become the brand ambassador of revenge travel’. There has been heightened optimism for travel reported in 2023. Nearly 75% of Indians said travelling will be worth it, according to a Booking.com <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/india/news/travel-trends-in-2023-digital-detox-regenerative-travel-and-inner-peace/articleshow/96281360.cms">report</a>. It looks like more young Indians want to keep up this trend of ‘seeing’ as much of the world outside their homes after spending some of the best years locked-in. Palak Mehra, a 27-year-old teacher and food blogger based in Pune, just had a baby. Since parenthood took priority, blogging and travelling simultaneously took a backseat. But she intends to keep exploring, if only in other ways. “I wish to try more cuisines and different countries this year. Shedding those extra pounds is also on the list though!” she says. Take all my leaves at work: Work-life balance, health a priority According to a Bumble Report released this <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/thelife/news/bumble-reveals-upcoming-dating-trends-in-2023/slidelist/96243427.cms">year,</a> fancy job titles and 40-plus work hours/ week are less tolerable now. Over the last year, more than half of youngsters (52%) are also actively creating more space for breaks and rest, the report states. Sukriti Shukla, a 27-year-old chief technical analyst working at a MNC in Delhi says, “I will utilise all my leaves this year and maintain a healthy work-life balance. Even though I want to keep hustling, a healthy work-life balance is non-negotiable for me now.” In an era of great resignation, Shreya Sarkar, a 26-year-old resident from Calcutta says, “My new year resolution is to not act like my employers are doing me a favour.” More than half of all the employees (57%) are unenthusiastic about or bored with their current jobs, according to an Indeed <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/careers/news/over-half-of-the-employees-in-india-bored-with-their-current-jobs-indeed/articleshow/96428913.cms">report</a>. He also resolves to record 365 days of his life in 2023 through 365 Instagram posts. “I have promised myself I won’t stalk my ex (I know I will still do it). Joyee Bhattacharya, a 24-year-old resident in London, wants to spare her nails this year. “It has been a nasty habit for over 20 years. I need to stop because I want pretty nails!” she said. Vidar Bhargava, a six-year-old who recently began attending his school in Calcutta, has ambitious resolutions as well. “I plan not to cheat while solving the Rubik’s cube. I will not do any drama before going to school. I also will not remove the Christmas tree decorations this year,” Vidar says. Ah, you sweet summer child. Then, of course, there are people who are philosophical too. “There are some questions that I won’t ever know the answer to. No to hookups, stalking exes and sugar: Young Indians’ new year resolutions for 2023

Mumbai, Apr 28 () Aviation and gems and jewellery sectors face high credit risks due to the current business disruptions and prolonged recovery caused by the COVID-19 crisis, according to a report. Besides these two sectors, microfinance institutions (MFIs) and tourism and hotels industries also face high credit risks, according to the report by ICRA Ratings. It said that because of the COVID-19 crisis, the credit profile of a large number of sectors and entities has become vulnerable. "The high-risk sectors -- aviation, gems &amp; jewellery, tourism &amp; hotels, microfinance institutions -- are the ones that face severe business disruption over the immediate term and where the recovery is more likely to be prolonged," the rating agency's Head (Credit Policy) Jitin Makkar said. The medium-risk sectors that include automobile OEMs (original equipment manufactures) and auto-ancillaries, construction, consumer durables and power, among others, face relatively lower degree of business disruptions and credit risks. The rating agency, however, expects that the after-effects of the COVID-19 crisis on these sectors may not persist for long. The sectors that face low risk are agri-products, education, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) and telecom. "These industries are unlikely to face material business disruption, or a material increase in credit risks over the near term, triggered solely by the COVID-19 crisis," Makkar said. The agency said that amid the current coronavirus-induced crisis scenario, it is undertaking a review of its portfolio of ratings by following an approach that involves risk assessment both at the sector level as well as the entity level. Aside from undertaking a review of the liquidity position of the rated entities over the near term, ICRA may also redraw its projections for various cases, by assuming that a 'business as usual' operating environment may not return soon. "Subsequent to our FY2020 ratings action, the current COVID-19 pandemic triggered crisis has led to a widespread deterioration in the credit quality of India Inc. The credit challenges are overwhelming and would impact the credit profiles of a large number of entities across sectors in an unprecedented manner," Makkar said. There is a lot of uncertainty as regards the acuteness of the impact and much would depend on how quickly the pandemic is contained, the measures taken by the government to soften the harmful impact, and the dynamics of the individual sectors, he said. ICRA said the credit quality of India Inc faced headwinds in 2019-20 due to economic slowdown coupled with sluggish consumption and investment demand, which led to increase in rating downgrades. Ratings of 584 entities were downgraded in 2019-20, reflecting a downgrade rate of 16 per cent which was significantly higher than the past five-year average of 9 per cent. The volume of debt downgraded in 2019-20 was also high at Rs 7 lakh crore and was more than double the previous financial year's figure of Rs 3 lakh crore. This was mainly because of the downgrade in ratings of several financial sector entities, including housing finance companies, non-banking finance companies and private sector banks, the rating agency said. And its early investors are backing the startup for faster growth and scale. In an exclusive interview with Business Insider, Pankaj Makkar, Managing Director, Bertelsmann India Investments, who invested in Pepperfry in 2014, said that they are in no hurry to exit from the startup as it’s doing really well. Pepperfry has been scaling up its businesses and is also looking at achieving its $1 billion Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/news/business/companies/pepperfry-targets-gross-merchandise-value-of-1-billion-by-2021-3754081.html">target</a> by 2021. With over 6 million customers, Pepperfry has 39 offline studios across 22 cities in India and is launching more. “Pepperfry has always been ahead of the curve. Its omni-channel strategy of scaling up operations across metros and tier I and II cities, has worked exceptionally well. We are confident that with the right scale and their strong unit economics, Pepperfry will continue to lead the furniture <keyword id="436047" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ecommerce">eCommerce</keyword> space in India,” said Makkar. The propelling factor in Pepperfry’s journey would be there right selection to be in the e-commerce category unlike in horizontal e-commerce (businesses that sell products from various categories). “In e-commerce, if you look at horizontal businesses, they play on very small margins but if you look at categories like furniture, they play on very high margins,” said Makkar. Founded by Ambareesh Murty and Ashish Shah, Pepperfry had last raised a funding of $38.5 million in March 2018. ‘2021 will be a watershed moment for India’s tech ecosystem’ — here are the startup sectors that VCs are betting on

For the third consecutive year, Texas Executive Education at The McCombs School of Business hosted 50 students from the Indian Institute of Management in Indore. 
 <keyword id="150302" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="IIM-Indore">IIM Indore</keyword>, a top-five business school located in Madhya Pradesh, sent their best and brightest for a five-week Custom Program focused on analytics for business excellence. The students from the <keyword id="1161218" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Executive-Post-Graduate-Programme">Executive Post Graduate Programme</keyword> in Management of IIM Indore also brought laurels to their institute by winning various competitions which were organized in Red McCombs School of Business. 
 EPGP participant <keyword id="3821817" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="ayush-khaitan">Ayush Khaitan</keyword> participated in a <keyword id="1604076" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="hackathon">Hackathon</keyword> and his team won the 2nd prize. Hackathon is a competition which requires coming up with a working solution to some existing problem using an existing technology, in a limited time. This Hackathon was organised by Moovel, a subsidiary of well-known Diamler Group. Ayush participated in the 48 hour non-stop session which required the use of technology to solve a problem in the mobility domain. 
 
Participants also took part in an IIM Indore/UT Austin Social Media Analytics Challenge 2016. Social Media Analytics is an exciting new field which can help a marketer in many ways such as planning a marketing campaign, predicting an election’s result, forecasting sales using the data from social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, etc. Akhil Jhingan, Anjani Kumar Sinha, Anupam Singh, Himanshu Makkar, Gaurav Tyagi and Eshana G won the first prize in the challenge. They presented their work on giving suggestions to HR for an enhanced employee satisfaction, IIM Indore officials said. 
 Ankur Jain, Gourav Arora, Samir Singh, Shantanu Roy, Vaibhav Agarwal and <keyword id="2089006" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vaibhav-Singhal">Vaibhav Singhal</keyword> won the second prize in the event. They worked on designing a social media campaign for a hypothetical political party for upcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. 
 
Another team comprising of Himanshu Bhatia, Rupak Laskar, Kirthirani, Prashant Mishra and Sandeep Reddy bagged ‘honourable mention award’ in the event and they analysed the dynamics of start-up culture in India. 
 
Notably. IIM-Indore has a tie-up with McCombs School of Business, wherein the EPGP participants complete one semester while staying at the University campus and are taught by the some of the most imminent professors.

The immediate priority of finance minister of India is to improve GDP growth and employment rates while keeping the targets of fiscal consolidation (3.5% of GDP in 2016-17) under control. Based on past few quarters’ results of corporate sector, we see demand hasn’t yet picked up. One of the main reasons is lack of rural demand, low rise in urban consumption and high food inflation. Based on this we think our finance minister should focus on sectors which could have a large scale impact to revive the <keyword id="34412" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="economy">economy</keyword> while providing enough employment to receive the benefits of India’s demographic dividend. These sectors include Agriculture, Infrastructure and Healthcare sector. 
 
1. Agriculture &amp; Rural economy 
Indian Agriculture sectors contributes around 17% to overall GDP, however, 49% of India's workforce is dependent on it. Overall GDP growth rate is round 7.5% while Agri-growth stutters around 1.7% (Down from 4% AGR in 11th Plan). Drought in last two years has made the situation worse by pushing marginalised farmers and agricultural labourers to the brink, leading to massive agrarian distress. 
 · The <keyword id="6355532" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mahatma-Gandhi">Mahatma Gandhi</keyword> National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) has been successful in providing employment to India’s rural poor and improve their livelihoods. A study NCAER found that the MGNREGS “has reduced poverty overall by up to 32% and has prevented 14 million people from falling into poverty.” Budget allocated should be increased to Rs. 40,000 cr from current allocation of Rs.34, 699 cr as the current allocation is not sufficient to cover the increased demand. Govt. needs to make it demand-driven programme i.e. allocating resources to states and districts based on poverty level &amp; exposure to drought. Making state &amp; local bodies accountable by monitoring KPIs (Employment level, Assets etc). 
 
· Reliable, faster and effective rural electrification by investing &amp; promoting renewable energy sources (bio-gas, solar, wind etc.) under an integrated rural electrification framework. 
 · Crop insurance schemes in India covers merely 23% of farmers. Pradhan Mantri Fasal Beema Yojna (PMFBY) needs to employ technology and innovation in crop insurance by assessing farm-level damage through satellites &amp; drones, linking farmer’s farm to Aadhar number and transferring the amount directly to account. Out of total sown area of 141 million hectare only 45% (65 million hectare) is covered under irrigation. Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY), launched in 2015, needs to achieve convergence of <keyword id="6362476" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="investments">investments</keyword> by Integration of water source, distribution and farm level applications. Using MSP as insurance mechanism rather than structural tool. 
 
· National Agriculture Market instead of current Mandi system, which suffers from cartelization of intermediaries’ problem, to enable farmers to discover the true price of their product. 
 
2. Infrastructure Sector Investment in infrastructure must give a boost to rail, road, irrigation and ports. Infrastructure has a high multiplier effect and goes a long way in creating sustainable GDP growth. Ports will help boost up trade and rail &amp;road will push activity within the country. Sufficient funds to be allocation to meet NHAI target of 30km/day. <keyword id="547488" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="tax-incentives">Tax incentives</keyword> for multi cargo ports with handling capacity of more than 100 MTPA will boost India’s exports. Withdrawal of minimum alternate tax in a calibrated manner must be done. Government should privatize managing of smaller airports and modernization of atleast 400 railway stations should be done in next year. Further atleast 30GW of renewable energy capacity can be established majorly through wind and solar. Accelerated depreciation benefit should be extended to wind sector apart from solar. 
 
3. Healthcare Sector 
In healthcare government should increase allocation to public healthcare by increasing it to 2% of GDP from current 1%. There must be tax holidays given to the pharma sector and the sunset clause on weighted deductions must be extended as India has the potential to become pharmacy of the world. These deductions on R&amp;D will go a long way on propelling innovation in pharma. Universal health insurance should be carried out through Jan Dhan-Aadhar-Mobile which will benefit patients and increase access thus helps us materialize our demographic dividend.
