The company had many things going for it, hosting a vast distribution network via its cab-hailing platform and a conducive policy environment that incentivised the growth of EVs. But within a few years of its launch, somewhere something seems to have gone awfully wrong! The Bhavish Aggarwal-led company has recently been in the news for all the wrong reasons, from the company’s founder engaging in an online spat with comedian Kunal Kamra to customers taking to social media to complain about their scooters. But that’s not where the company’s problems end. One of the seemingly direct effects of the rise in customer complaints has been subdued sales in recent months. Besides this, the company has also come under the government’s scanner. <h2>Surge in complaints</h2>According to a recent report, Ola Electric recently formed a new service team to deal with the surge in customer complaints. As per the report, the electric two-wheeler maker is receiving as many as 80,000 customer complaints per month, overwhelming its service infrastructure. <div type="Article" hostid="261" msid="113699039" title="Ola Electric plans to expand sales and service infra to 10,000 outlets by 2025-end" mstype="2" mssubtype="0"></div> The high number of complaints reportedly resulted in high wait times for customers, resulting in growing customer dissatisfaction, which is regularly played out on social media. <h2>Declining market share</h2>It’s not just social media, the company’s market share has also been on the decline along with its sales. From nearly a 50% market share in April 2024, the company’s market share declined to 27% in September 2024. While the company still leads the Indian electric two-wheeler market, legacy automakers like Bajaj Auto and TVS Motor are closing in. While Bajaj Auto reported a 21.5% market share in September 2024, TVS Motor reported a 20.3% market share. From occupying nearly half of the market, Ola Electric has now been restricted to a quarter and by the looks of it, the company may not even be able to hold the top position by the end of the year if the current trend continues. <h2>Ola Electric comes under the government’s scrutiny</h2>Amid rising complaints, Ola Electric has also come under the government’s scanner. The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA), India’s consumer watchdog issues a show-cause notice to Ola Electric over potential violations of the Consumer Protection Act (2019). According to a report, The National Consumer Helpline (NCH) run by the Department of Consumer Affairs has received 10,644 complaints against Ola Electric since September 2023. When the NCH approached Ola Electric, the body was reportedly met with apathy by the company. Out of the 10,644 complaints, 3,389 relate to delays in providing service to the vehicles, 1,899 are around delivery delays for new vehicles and 1,459 customers have complained about services that were promised but not provided. According to a report by CNBCTV-18, CCPA chairman Nidhi Khare has said the complaints against Ola Electric have been classified in 10 categories, including “delayed and unsatisfactory service”, “refusal or delay in warranty services”, “recurrent defects despite services”, “unprofessional conduct and complaint closure” and more. <h2>A customer’s harrowing experience</h2>Business Insider India spoke to Mr Rakesh (name changed), an Ola Electric customer who has been facing issues with his Ola S1 Pro. The customer paid for the vehicle in August 2023 and the scooter was delivered in January 2024, after a five-month wait. The first issue that the customer faced was that despite the scooter only being delivered in January 2024, the scooter’s warranty began in August 2023, depriving the customer of five months of warranty. Not just this, the vehicle’s insurance began in November 2023, two months prior to the delivery. While this is a concerning issue, this was the least of the customer’s problems. <div type="image" title="1" msid="114120836" hostid="261" sizebytes="68242" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;The Ola S1 Pro being towed&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> As per the customer, his scooter repeatedly faced issues, not even turning on at times. Rakesh said that he was forced to restart his vehicle four to five times a day just to be able to use it and if this didn’t work, he was forced to remove and re-insert a plug placed under the seat. However, even this failed several times and in less than eight months of usage, Rakesh was forced to get his vehicle towed to the service centre multiple times with the help of roadside assistance (RSA). He claimed that he faced the issue nearly 30 times so far. He further said that the scooter has spent the majority of its time at the service centre, which is extremely disappointing after spending over ₹1.6 lakh on a vehicle. <div type="image" title="2" msid="114120876" hostid="261" sizebytes="65944" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;The Ola S1 Pro being towed again&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> At the service centre, the service executives were unable to find the exact cause of the issue. To try and solve the issue, the scooter’s control unit was reportedly changed twice and there were multiple software updates. Rakesh has had a disappointing experience so far, especially with the service executives being unable to diagnose the issue and him having to repeatedly visit the service centre. <h2>A wake-up call?</h2>Many users on the internet have labelled Ola vehicles as subpar and not fit for this competitive market that’s growing rapidly. The initial marketing was good, helping the company conquer almost half of the market share. But a bad quality product can dent the reputation of a company severely in the long run. This must serve as a wake-up call for <keyword id="1543567" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bhavish-Aggarwal" source="Orion">Bhavish Aggarwal</keyword> and everyone at Ola Electric and the consumers hope that the company not only works on improving its quality control but also overhauls its service infrastructure to more efficiently diagnose and solve issues with their vehicles. During an interaction early in the company’s journey, Aggarwal once said that he hopes to sell around 1.5 lakh to 2 lakh scooters a month, which is close to what one of the popular petrol scooters manages to do each month. Electric two-wheelers continue to form the bulk of electric vehicle (EV) sales in India, with EV two-wheelers making up nearly 60% of Indian EV sales in September 2024 in terms of numbers. <h2>Ola Electric leads but with a lower share</h2>Bhavish Aggarwal-led Ola Electric continued to lead the Indian electric two-wheeler market with a 27% market share, which is considerably lower than the 39% share it enjoyed in July 2024. In August 2024, the company reported a 31% market share. The company sold 23,965 electric scooters in September 2024, up from 18,536 scooters sold in September 2023. However, this is lower than the 26,928 scooters the company sold in August 2024. Ola Electric has been plagued by customer complaints, with reports suggesting a surge in issues with its scooters. <h2>Legacy brands power through</h2>Bajaj Auto and TVS Motor, legacy two-wheeler brands have started inching closer towards Ola Electric, which once dominated the Indian electric two-wheeler market. Bajaj Auto, with its Chetak Electric scooter, has occupied the second spot for the first time, beating TVS Motor. The company recorded its highest-ever sales in September 2024 with 18,933 scooters sold, up from 7,107 scooters sold in September 2023, recording a 166% year-on-year growth. The report highlights the serious challenges automakers face in achieving profitability and scaling operations in the EV segment, which remains heavily reliant on financial support from the government. <h2>Struggling to achieve profitability</h2>The Bernstein report reveals that generating profitable margins in the Indian EV sector is proving to be an uphill battle for automakers. “It is tough to generate sufficient margins and get scale in EVs. Even with hefty incentives, incumbent OEMs are still unprofitable,” the report stated. Without these incentives, the <keyword id="19952060" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="EV-Industry" source="keywords">EV industry</keyword> would be unable to compete with traditional ICE vehicles. “The EV Industry is not relevant without incentives currently, and to break the ICE sector, it needs intense focus, scale, and continued cost downs,” the report emphasised. This indicates that while government schemes like GST benefits have helped reduce the cost difference between EVs and ICE vehicles, they are not enough to ensure the long-term sustainability of the EV sector. Bernstein estimates that the overall EV two-wheeler industry in India generates around USD 1.3 billion in annual revenues, but without government support, the sector incurs an EBIT loss of approximately USD 300-400 million. Why has Bernstein called India’s EV sector 'irrelevant'?

Shares of <keyword id="19956271" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ola-Electric-Mobility" source="keywords">Ola Electric Mobility</keyword> were in a freefall today, tanking about 4.55% on the NSE and 4.88% on BSE. Today also marked 30 days since the company was listed on the bourses (August 9th), bringing down shutters on the one-month lock-in window anchor investors are mandated to hold stocks for, before deciding to offload 50% of shareholding. Around 18.18 crore shares, or about 4% of company's outstanding shares were eligible for trading in the market post the 30-day lock-in, which hurtled Ola's stock towards Rs 100. While the stock managed to gain some ground later in the day, and was trading at Rs 114.10 when the markets closed today, slightly up from its intraday low of Rs 109. However, it still remained a far cry from its all-time high price of Rs 157.4, which it had hit on August 20th, 2024. Ola Electric, which currently dominates the Indian EV space, debuted on stock exchanges last month, and was looking to raise Rs 6,145.56 crore via fresh issue, along with an OFS (offer for sale) of 8.49 crore equity shares. The IPO was oversubscribed by around 4x. Going ahead, the Bhavish Aggarwal-led startup is also set to face intense competition from fellow EV maker Ather Energy. With its IPO set to hit the markets soo, Ather is looking to raise Rs 3,100 crore via fresh issue, and an OFS of about 2.2 crore equity shares. Per the DRHP (draft red herring prospectus) filed by Ather, its net worth for FY24 stood at Rs 545.9 crore. The remaining 50% of Ola Electric's shares will be eligible for offloading by anchor investors in 60 days from now, or 90 days since the date of allotment. While this event will certainly test Ola's buoyancy in the market, the fact remains that Ola was off to a stellar start days after its listing, when the stock price accelerated to Rs 157.4 on August 20th, 2024. This skyrocketed the company's valuation well beyond that of established Indian 2-wheeler giants like Hero Moto Corp and Bajaj, albeit briefly. In fact, for a small period, Ola Electric Mobility had recorded valuations higher than that of Tesla's. For perspective, Ola's market capitalization, as of today, stood at Rs 50,327.57 crore. Bajaj Auto, which listed on the exchanges in 2008, presently has a market value of Rs 3,02,993.79 crore, while Hero Moto Corp, which was listed in 2003, currently has a market value of Rs 1,14,788.59 crore. However, ever since hitting this peak on August 20th, Ola's prices have only been on a downward journey. However, now that the stock has witnessed a price correction of sorts, the question remains- has Ola corrected enough, or are we still in for further downside? As per SEBI registered Investment Advisor Gaurav Goel, Ola continues to trade in the expensive zone despite recent correction. "The recent mercurial rise in the stock has been more on the promise it holds for the future. It is the largest <keyword id="23099550" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="E-Scooter-Manufacturing" source="keywords">E-Scooter Manufacturing</keyword> company in India, with 31% market share in the E2W sector, selling 3,29,618 scooters in FY24. Recently, it also forayed into the motorcycle segment with several new “Roadster” models at an attractive pricing. It is building an Ola Gigafactory for cell production in Tamil Nadu, and a Battery Innovation Centre in Bangalore", Goel explained. "However, we feel that despite attractive future plans, the stock is currently overpriced. Despite rising revenues, we need to see how quickly it is able to translate widening losses into profits", he continued. <h2>Gaping holes, take a long-term approach </h2>It is hard to overlook the wide, year on year losses that the company continues to incur. As of March 2024, the company had racked up an operating loss of Rs 1,266 crore. Per its Q1FY25 financials, the company's losses before taxes during April-June 2024 grew to Rs 347 crore, up from Rs 267 crore in the year-ago period. The company's cash flows from operating activities continued to be in red, rising from Rs 2,520.25 crores in March 2021 to Rs 15,072.71 crore as of March 2023. Generally, if a company is regularly registering negative cash flows from its primary, operational activity, it is a troubling sign, indicating that the company is spending more than what its making. Ola continues to rack up major losses in its cell business, which reported a loss of Rs 5 crore in Q1FY25. The segment's operating expenses, however, doubled from Rs 11 crore in Q1FY24 to Rs 22 crore in Q1FY25. Per Agrawal, the indigenously developed 4680 Bharat Cell, which will be integrated in all Ola vehicles starting Q1FY26, will help in bettering the company's profit margins, given that cells constitute around 30-35% of overall vehicle's cost. Which is why experts suggest not to buy into any short-term euphoria surrounding the stock, and instead, opt for a long-term approach. While there is scope, it is largely unchartered waters, which will have to face the tides of multiple market volatilities and cycles, before it starts to generate sustainable, significant returns. Goel believes that while the new vehicle segment is a good space to enter, the competition here is going to be stiff. Customer actual response in terms of sales is yet uncertain. "We recommend a buy on dips on this stock. An entry level of Rs 100 would be good point for purchase. It should be kept for the long-term, for a period of at least 3-5 years for realization of its potential"

Electric two-wheeler sales crater in April 2024 as prices increase amid reduced subsidies

Leading US asset manager <keyword id="174755" type="General" weightage="70" keywordseo="vanguard" source="Orion">Vanguard</keyword> has further slashed its holding in ride-hailing major <keyword id="6354720" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="ola" source="Orion">Ola</keyword> by more than half, which takes the Bhavish Aggarwal-run company's valuation down to nearly $3.5 billion from $7.3 billion at the end of 2021. According to a TechCrunch report, citing Vanguard's filings, the investment firm has cut the worth of its shares in Ani Technologies, Ola's holding firm, by 51.6%. "The asset manager marked down the holding of its Ola shares to $25 million, from the $51.7 million purchase price years ago, the filings showed," according to the report. Vanguard had valued its Ola's shares at about $33.8 million in February this year. In May, Vanguard had slashed Ola's valuation by 35% amid global macroeconomic conditions, reducing its valuation to about $4.8 billion. Ola has raised more than $3.9 billion over the years, according to public data. IPO-bound Ola Electric has also recorded an operating loss of $136 million (roughly Rs 1,116 crore) and revenue of $335 million (roughly Rs 2,750 crore), missing its revenue goal disclosed publicly. The company reported sales of over 1,50,000 electric scooters for FY23, according to a Reuters report. In the first two months of FY23, Ola Electric claimed to have surpassed Rs 500 crore in revenue and was on track to surpass $1 billion by year's end. In January, Ola laid off 200 employees from its <keyword id="6362049" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="ola-cabs" source="Orion">Ola Cabs</keyword>, Ola Electric and Ola Financial Services verticals as part of the "restructuring" exercise. Ola joins a growing list of Indian unicorns who have significantly lost their valuations. Invesco lowered Swiggy's valuation by almost half to $5.5 billion in earlier this year while leading US investment firm Fidelity reportedly slashed the estimated worth of its holding in homegrown conversational engagement platform Gupshup by over 20% in a month.

Some medical experts also said that a 70-hour-week regimen would be "far too ambitious," and urged team leaders at workplaces to divide work in an optimised manner among members and "not try to extract too much work from an individual", which often leads to physical or psychological burnout. Their comments come in the wake of Infosys co-founder <keyword id="6448574" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="n-r-narayana-murthy" source="Orion">N R Narayana Murthy</keyword> recently suggesting that young people should work <keyword id="19286531" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="70-hours-a-week" source="Orion">70 hours a week</keyword> to boost the country's productivity. Murthy's remarks were criticised on social media for allegedly promoting an 'overwork culture' by some, and praised by several others. Doctors in Delhi warned that overwork was leading to early onset of lifestyle diseases like diabetes and cervical spondylitis. Smoking, drinking and consumption of junk food at work or home are also adversely affecting their health, and compounding their health issues, they said. Dr Suranjit Chatterjee, senior consultant, internal medicine at Apollo Hospital in Delhi said, "Hard work doesn't mean you neglect or compromise your health. Hard work is fine, but a person should take care of one's health too while following their ambition. "So, it has to be balanced with a healthy diet, healthy lifestyle, proper sleep and timely exercise," he told PTI. The 70-hour-week regimen would be "far too ambitious, I feel, and 60 hours per week with a balanced and optimised lifestyle" should be the way forward, the doctor said. "Many people work hard and then resort to eating junk food or smoking at regular intervals, of course, having this myth that it is helping them de-stress, but it's not, it's only making their health even worse," Chatterjee said. Some resort to regular drinking and frequent parties, driven at times by the idea that 'I can afford it, so I will do it'. This attitude has to change if a person has to grow professionally without compromising one's health, he cautioned. Doctors at other government and private hospitals also warned about the consumption of junk food, at times for "snob value" at the workplace, which in turn leads to a "wrong ripple effect". Recreation is important, but it should be done after putting in hard work on working days, for both personal and professional growth in any organisation, the medical experts underlined. A senior doctor at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital said the OPD of internal medicine there is seeing a "paradigm shift" in the nature of patients visiting it. "We are seeing now more younger people than the elderly population who are coming to us with early onset of lifestyle diseases like diabetes. They are glued to their computer screens or mobile phones all the time, so they complain of pain in the eyes, neck pain, backache and many other issues," the doctor said. Consumption of junk food, lack of proper sleep, negligible or no exercise, coupled with the sedentary lifestyle at work, is making matters worse, he added. The senior doctor advised youths to balance ambition with a healthy diet and lifestyle, and not give in to any pressure from peers or otherwise. There have been many cases of physical or mental burnout and overwork is a major cause for that, he added. Ambition is good for work, good for the country, and a person can work for even 10 hours or so per day "while ensuring health is not compromised," Chatterjee said. In a conversation with former Infosys CFO Mohandas Pai in the inaugural episode of 3one4 Capital's podcast 'The Record,' Murthy had said that youngsters should put extra hours at work to compete with leading economies. "India's work productivity is one of the lowest in the world. Unless we improve our work productivity...we will not be able to compete with those countries that have made tremendous progress," he said, comparing India with China, Japan and Germany. "So, therefore, I request that our youngsters must say, 'This is my country. I'd like to work 70 hours a week," he added. Murthy's remarks have drawn mixed reactions on social media. Comedian and actor Vir Das wrote on X, "Life's hard. You meet a girl, fall in love, get married. Her dad wants you to work 70 hours a week. You can't work that hard, you just wanna chill and run England." Another user on X said "overwork" gave him stress and health complications. <ul><li>The <keyword id="11908705" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="ola-s1-pro" source="Orion">Ola S1 Pro</keyword> received the <keyword id="16377536" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="move-os-3" source="Orion">Move OS 3</keyword> a few weeks ago, bringing a slew of new features.</li><li>The highlights of the update include support for its hypercharge network, proximity unlock, and more.</li><li>Here’s my review of the new features introduced by <keyword id="4393078" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="ola-electric" source="Orion">Ola Electric</keyword> with the Move OS 3 update.</li></ul>Bhavish Aggarwal-led <keyword id="6354720" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="ola" source="Orion">Ola</keyword> Electric has become one of the top EV makers in the country and is dominating the electric scooter market. The company recently rolled out the<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wRaJniBnwc%5d"> Move OS 3</a> update, introducing several new features and bringing hyper charging support to its scooters. The Move OS 3 is the company’s latest software update to the operating system that powers the company’s electric scooters. It comes with several new features and improvements, including crucial ones like support for Ola’s hyper charger network, multiple profiles, Bluetooth calling, sound customizations which the company calls ‘Moods’, and more. I have been using the Ola S1 Pro with the latest Move OS 3 for a few weeks now and here is my review of the newly introduced features. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Hypercharge support" comment="subhead" text="Hypercharge support">Hypercharge support</cmsannotation> One of the highlights of the Move OS 3 update is the introduction of hypercharging. Ola has installed hyperchargers at its experience centers and two scooters can be charged at once. <div type="image" title="Hypercharging" msid="97806550" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Move OS 3 has introduced hypercharging support&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> The company has claimed that a 15-minute charge at its hypercharger can give the scooter a 50 km of range. We tested the hypercharger in Hyderabad and found that the charging is close to the company's claims. We did notice that the charging gets a little slower as the battery crosses 70%. The introduction of hyperchargers is a good move as it helps in reducing range anxiety, and you don’t have to worry about running out of juice. The company currently has over 200 experience centers across the country, a lot of which have hyperchargers installed. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Moods" comment="subhead" text="Moods">Moods</cmsannotation> <div type="image" title="Eclipse" msid="97806573" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;The original Eclipse theme&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> Ola has added themes to it, which the company has dubbed “Moods.” The original theme has been named “Eclipse.” <div type="image" title="IMG_20230208_192121" msid="97806586" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;The retro Vintage theme&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> In addition to this, the company now offers “Bolt”, which has a modern and futuristic look to it, and “Vintage”, which as the name suggests gives it a retro look. All three themes have their own signature sound and dark and light modes. <div type="image" title="Eclipse" msid="97806605" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;The modern Eclipse theme&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> I liked the Bolt theme, as it looks a bit modern, which an EV should look like. However, I did not like the sounds currently offered with any of the themes and preferred to drive with the sound turned off. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Call support" comment="subhead" text="Call support">Call support</cmsannotation> Another interesting feature introduced with the Move OS 3 is the ability to answer calls on the scooter. The calls can be answered and rejected using the volume buttons and the scooter is equipped with a speaker and a microphone for you to talk. <div type="image" title="Calling" msid="97806629" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;You can answer your calls on the scooter&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> In my experience, the calls worked well on empty roads and roads with moving traffic. If you are in a noisy place, the other person may have some trouble understanding what you are saying. Overall, the feature works well and is something I use during my daily commute. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Party mode" comment="subhead" text="Party mode">Party mode</cmsannotation> <div type="image" title="Party Mode" msid="97806616" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Party mode with the Move OS 3&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> Since its launch, one of the features that separated the Ola S1 Pro from its peers was the ability to play music. Now, Ola has introduced a new feature, “party mode.” In this, the lights on the scooter blink when you play music, giving you a disco vibe. Note that this only works when the scooter is parked and will not work while driving it. While this is not a major feature, and you may just use it once or twice, it is a nice feature. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Proximity unlock" comment="subhead" text="Proximity unlock">Proximity unlock</cmsannotation> <div type="image" title="IMG_20230208_191732" msid="97806652" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Proximity unlock&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> Another interesting feature that Move OS 3 has introduced is proximity unlock. Basically, this allows your smartphone to act as a key and the scooter is unlocked whenever you come close to it, allowing you to ride it without having to unlock it yourself. Similarly, the scooter is locked when you move away from it. In my experience, there were some issues initially with proximity unlock as sometimes the scooter failed to unlock. While the scooter now locks and unlocks as I come near it or move away from it, there were a few instances when it took some time. The feature is still in Beta so we expect the feature to become better once the company finishes the beta. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Hill hold" comment="subhead" text="Hill hold">Hill hold</cmsannotation> <div type="image" title="IMG_20230208_191821" msid="97806657" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Hill hold works for a small duration&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> The Ola S1 Pro has finally received hill-hold support. This is useful when you have stopped your vehicle on an incline. The feature is still in Beta so we expect it to improve once a stable version is rolled out. During my testing, I found that the feature does not always work, and even when it does, it works only for a few seconds. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Profiles" comment="subhead" text="Profiles">Profiles</cmsannotation> As the Ola S1 Pro does not come with a physical key, you may not want to share your passcode or login details with everyone. If you wish to lend your scooter to someone temporarily, you can use the new profiles feature added by the company. It allows you to share access to the scooter with others; all you have to do is enter their name and phone number. The app gives them their passcode, allowing them to unlock the scooter easily. You can revoke access to others’ right from the app. In my experience, the feature works well, and setting up a new rider takes less than a minute. Overall, Move OS 3 has introduced some good features which improve the user experience. Features like proximity unlock and hill hold need to be improved a bit to make them more useful. Electric two-wheeler sales recover after spending June in the pitlane

The layoffs, which were first announced in September last year, happened across the teams. The company told IANS that it is "centralising operations and is undertaking a restructuring exercise to minimise redundancy and build a strong lateral structure that strengthens relevant roles and functions". The layoffs constitute 10 per cent of its 2,000-strong engineer workforce "as part of a larger restructuring exercise towards its electric dream". "Currently, the company has around 2,000 engineers and aims to increase its engineering talent pool to 5,000 over the next 18 months," according to the ride-hailing company. The Bhavish Aggarwal-run company has nearly 1,100 employees in its core ride-hailing business. Earlier, restructuring exercises impacted employees across product, marketing, sales, supply, tech, business, and operations verticals at the company, affecting nearly 500 employees that "were a result of restructuring in the cars and dash businesses".
