Ranbir Kapoor's Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar collects ₹122 crore worldwide

About one-third of the people in the world suffer from sleep disorders which are mainly caused by a sedentary lifestyle, medical experts said. Sleep reduction causes insulin resistance leading to obesity, type II diabetes, high blood pressure, cancers, cardiovascular diseases, musculoskeletal disorders and respiratory disorders. King George's Medical University (KGMU) Vice Chancellor <keyword id="7304685" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="lt-gen-bipin-puri" source="Orion">Lt Gen Bipin Puri</keyword> said, "These can be prevented by a healthy diet, 15-20 minutes exercise, and leaving electronic gadgets two hours before going to sleep. Drugs are needed in extreme cases." He said, "If you are not able to sleep for at least five hours at a stretch in a day or have disrupted sleep patterns for more than three weeks, it could be insomnia or sleep apnea, which if ignored, could cause high blood pressure, fatigue, depression or anxiety and loss of concentration." He said that while an adult needs around 7 hours of sound sleep daily, a newborn must sleep for 18 hours and children up to 6 years for 12 hours. Prof <keyword id="6368646" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="ved-prakash" source="Orion">Ved Prakash</keyword>, head of respiratory critical care medicine, KGMU, who is in charge of the comprehensive sleep centre, said, "Extended shifts, prolonged exposure to light, stress, anxiety, addiction to alcohol, caffeinated drinks and smoking, are the main reasons adversely affecting the body clock in adults." He said that the modern lifestyle does not give enough time to the body to relax and recharge itself, which leads to decreased secretion of neurotransmitters-serotonin and dopamine - which play a vital role in sleep quality. "Actually, the brain needs serotonin to make melatonin, a hormone that regulates your sleep-wake cycle while dopamine makes us happy. When both are secreted in reduced amount, they cause disruption in sleep and anxiety," he said. Faculty at the physiology department, KGMU, Prof <keyword id="185978" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="narsingh-verma" source="Orion">Narsingh Verma</keyword> said that light exposure also reduces the sleep of new-borns and children which adversely impacts the physical strength of children as the growth hormone secretes less. He said that a person facing sleep issues should take a balanced diet which is rich in green vegetables, fruits and sprouts as they have micronutrients and vitamins. While vitamin C is often associated with immunity, study after study has shown that vitamin C plays a powerful role in sleep quality. If we take Box Office reports as the yardstick of success, Dutt’s advice is on point. At present, more than rom-com (which Bollywood has exploited to the point of saturation), socially-relevant topics, biopics, patriotism and action resonate with the masses. From the macho cops of Dabangg, Singham, etc. to the elaborate fight sequences of RRR to one-man-army fights in KGF or Pushpa – originally popularised in the 80s by the ‘angry young man’ Amitabh Bachchan – action clearly sells. Even the original king of romance, Shah Rukh Khan has taken to action movies now! Case in point – his latest film Pathaan, which broke multiple Box Office records. In fact, as revealed in the Netflix documentary series The Romantics, Khan was reluctant to play a romantic hero in the first place. But Kapoor appears to still be chasing rom-coms. Here was a star kid who benefited from nepotism but certainly deserved to be in front of the camera — a claim that was proven absolutely true with a career-defining performance in Raajneeti (2010). But most, if not all his romantic avatars appeared to be drawn from the same template — the lost, young man. Even though the whitewashed storyline let down the film, Kapoor’s performance and transformation were the talk of the town. While Indian film critic Saibal Chatterjee remarked that Kapoor “dazzled as Sanjay Dutt”, The Guardian stated, “Kapoor proves (to be) a lightweight film’s strongest suit”. Unfortunately, the hype created by Sanju well and truly died by the time Kapoor returned to the silver screen — four years later in 2022, with Brahamastra and Shamshera. Though the former raked in the collections, Kapoor’s innate magic seemed to be missing. The latter was better performed, but the muddled, slow-paced storytelling didn’t sit well with the audience. None could alter his image of a romantic hero. Perhaps Kapoor wasn’t meant for action, as advised by Dutt. Certainly, the few earlier glimpses that he provided with Besharam (2013) and Bombay Velvet (2015) left the audiences and critics unimpressed. For his upcoming films now, the actor has joined hands with directors known for delivering commercial hits —Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar by Luv Ranjan and Animal by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The former belongs to the genre that has failed Kapoor in the recent past, and the latter is an action drama, where Kapoor is yet to deliver a hit. Only time will tell if this approach will give a much-needed boost to the 40-year-old star kid’s career, or drag him into the list of ‘has-beens’. Capital markets regulator <keyword id="35210" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="sebi" source="Orion">SEBI</keyword> has restrained six entities, including Banhem Stock Broking and <keyword id="57645" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="ninja" source="Orion">Ninja</keyword> Securities, from the securities market and impounded wrongful gains of Rs 2.23 crore from them for involving in front-running trades of <keyword id="1116832" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="anvil" source="Orion">Anvil</keyword> Wealth Management. Apart from these two, the other entities banned by the regulator are Kaushal Chandarana, Manish <keyword id="6371425" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="mehta" source="Orion">Mehta</keyword>, Kashmira Mehta and Sumatilal Mehta. Also, the entities have been directed not to dispose of any of their assets or securities, till such time the amount of wrongful gains is credited, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) said in its interim order on Tuesday. In its order, SEBI found that Ninja and Banhem traded in different securities ahead of the impending orders placed on behalf of portfolio management service provider Anvil Wealth Management. It was further noted that the common director of Ninja and Banhem - Manish Mehta - was connected with Kaushal Chandarana, portfolio manager of Anvil. It was observed that a scheme was hatched by Mehta and Chandra, wherein the former would pass on the information of the impending trade orders of the big client (Anvil) to the latter, who would then place orders from the trading accounts of his connected entities, Ninja and Banhem, thereby <keyword id="44497" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="front" source="Orion">front</keyword> running the trades of a big client. "Ninja, Banhem, Sumatilal Mehta and Kashmira Mehta have also played an equally vital part in the execution of those prima facie front-running trades as they enabled Kaushal and Manish to execute front-running trades from the trading accounts of Ninja and Banhem, that led to the prima facie violation of ...PFUTP Regulations," SEBI said. Through such prima facie front-running activities, the six entities made wrongful gains to the tune of Rs 2.23 crore. Accordingly, SEBI has prohibited the entities from "buying, selling or dealing in the securities market or associating themselves with the securities market, either directly or indirectly, in any manner whatsoever until further orders''. In addition, "an amount of Rs 2.23 crore being the estimated total wrongful gains earned from the prima facie front running activities is impounded, jointly and severally from the notices," it added. Front-running refers to an illegal practice in the stock market where an entity trades on the basis of advance information from a broker or analyst before the information has been made available to its clients. The order came after the surveillance system in NSE generated certain alerts indicating that trades by certain suspected entities executed from March 2020 to June 2021 appeared to be unusual trades and were apparently in the nature of trades that were executed for front-running the trades of Anvil Wealth Management Pvt. Ltd., a portfolio management service provider. After this, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) initiated an investigation against those suspected entities to look into the possible violations of PFUTP (Prohibition of Fraudulent and Unfair Trade Practices Relating to Securities Market) rules from March 2020 to September 2022.
