Automobile major <keyword id="6357096" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mahindra-Mahindra">Mahindra &amp; Mahindra</keyword> has reported that bookings for 'All-New Thar' SUV has now crossed 15,000 bookings, since its launch on October 2, 2020. "Today 57 per cent of all buyers of the All-New Thar are first time car buyers and a significantly large share of all bookings are for the automatic variants," the company said in a statement on Monday. The all-new Thar will be available in two trims, namely "AX &amp; LX", with prices starting at Rs 9.80 lakh for AX series and Rs 12.49 lakh for LX series. It is powered by two all-new engines "the 2.0L mStallion TGDi" petrol engine, and "the 2.2L mHawk" Diesel engine. "These engines are offered with a choice of 6-speed manual transmission or 6-speed torque converter <keyword id="6747735" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="automatic-transmission">automatic transmission</keyword>, with an authentic 4x4 manual shift transfer case with a low ratio," the company had said on Oct 2nd. Mahindra Thar 2020 crosses 15,000 bookings — 57% are first time car buyers

Utility vehicles major <keyword id="6357096" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mahindra-Mahindra">Mahindra &amp; Mahindra</keyword> (<keyword id="46869" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="MM">M&amp;M</keyword>) on Thursday said it is recalling 1,577 units of its SUV Thar with <keyword id="10704282" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="diesel-powertrain">diesel powertrain</keyword> to replace faulty camshaft, an engine part. The Mumbai-based auto major said it would undertake proactive inspection and replacement of camshaft on a batch of 1,577 units of <keyword id="10703974" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="thar-diesel-variants">Thar diesel variants</keyword>, manufactured between September 7 and December 25, 2020. "A machine setting error at the supplier's plant, on specific dates, may have affected camshafts in some engines of the diesel Thar," M&amp;M said in a regulatory filing. Keeping with the company's stringent quality standards and exercising abundant caution, it has proactively engaged in this limited recall and offered inspection and subsequent rectification, <keyword id="6370553" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="free">free</keyword> of cost, the automaker noted. The company said the affected Thar customers will be individually contacted by the company. As an endeavour to ensure a hassle-free experience for its customers, the company is proactively carrying out this activity, it added. This action is also in compliance with SIAM's voluntary code on vehicle recall, M&amp;M said. The new version of Thar was launched on October 2 last year. The model comes in two trims -- AX and LX -- with both petrol and diesel powertrain options. All the variants of new Thar come with a four-wheel drive set-up. However, the biggest challenge of the last few months for the entire sector, the high levels of attrition, may have peaked, according to Motilal Oswal, another Mumbai-based broking firm. But the easing may not be enough to improve margins yet. “Among Tier I players, EBIT [earnings before interest and taxes] margin will be in a tight (-20 basis points to +40 basis points compared to three months ago) range, although they will see a steep decline v/s 3QFY21 profitability,” a Motilal Oswal report dated January 3 said. Here, if Accenture’s numbers are any sign, its attrition rate declined to 17%, which is still very high compared to other IT players, from 19% just three months earlier. Another factor that may play a significant role in the earnings of these software exporters is the nearly 3% weakening of the rupee during the three months between September and December. A weaker rupee magnifies the numbers for these companies who primarily earn in dollars and other foreign currencies.
