The bot which will installed on office computers, will measure the extent of happiness among the employees by striking random conversations with them. It will ask How are you feeling? and What is making you feel low? Etc. The AI-powered bot will accompany the employees throughout the day. In case it detects discontentment, it will notify the respective managers. The company is designing an AI programme in order to boost employee morale. “If we can nudge managers to do that, then we can create shifts,” Prince Augustin, Executive Vice President of group human capital and leadership development told ET. Mahindra & Mahindra will assess its employees’ mood using its AI-powered bot

A Forum for IT Employees (FITE) has sought Maharashtra Labour Commissioner’s intervention, requesting him to order Techh Mahindra to stop illegal lay-offs of IT employees. The FITE has also called for establishing conciliation between the management and staff. "On behalf of Forum for IT employees (FITE), we request you (Labour Commissioner) to intervene and order Tech Mahindra authority to stop such illegal removals forthwith...," Elavarasan Raja of FITE of Pune Chapter said in a petition written to the Labour Commissioner. However, Tech Mahindra has denied the claims of layoffs. "We continue to implement strategies to meet the changing demands of business in the current global economic environment. As a performance driven organisation, we assess employee performance on a regular basis and take necessary actions wherever necessary,” said Tech Mahindra. In reply to Tech Mahindra’s statement, Raja said the restructuring activity has not been done on performance basis, and thousands of employees who are being terminated are actually good performers as they were rated good in appraisals earlier and also were appreciated and awarded for their work from both the client and the company. IT companies have been one of the largest recruiters in the country. However, they have warned that increasing automation of processes would lead to reduction in hiring in coming years.

IT employees’ forum says Tech Mahindra should stop illegal layoffs; company denies claims

Around 25 Pune-based employees recently laid off by IT majors like <keyword id="28721" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Cognizant">Cognizant</keyword>, <keyword id="43217" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Tech-Mahindra">Tech Mahindra</keyword> and <keyword id="10862" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Wipro">Wipro</keyword> have taken the legal route against these companies, terming their termination as illegal. These employees have filed separate petitions with the <keyword id="4604644" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="maharashtra-commissioner-of-labour">Maharashtra Commissioner of Labour</keyword> against their former employers, stating that the termination wasn’t legal. The petitions were filed through the Forum of IT Employees (<keyword id="4141674" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="fite">FITE</keyword>), an institution based in Chennai, which has also helped employees laid off in the cities of Chennai and Hyderabad take legal action. In an emailed statement, Tech Mahindra said: "We continue to implement strategies to meet the changing demands of business in the current global economic environment. Meanwhile, the Additional Commissioner of Labour <keyword id="4604646" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="nikhil-walke">Nikhil Walke</keyword> has held a meeting with the Cognizant management and employees, asking them to be more transparent with the employees. A Cognizant spokesperson said: "We reiterated that Cognizant has not conducted any layoffs and changes resulting from the company's performance review process are consistent with the standard practice that has been followed by the IT industry for many years. We continue to enhance our capabilities and hire for roles across all our practice areas in the company." A common complaint that all laid-off employees had was that the companies didn’t care to do any written communication regarding the layoffs, and they were verbally asked to resign. As per FITE representative Elavarasan Raja, FITE has been receiving over 500 calls a day from IT employees, asking for guidance.

However, the stock is still cheap and it can gain another 15% in the next one year, says a report from Kotak Institutional equities, which cut the estimate for the company's earnings per share by up to 22%. The low WFH led to missed revenues," according to Kotak. However, the stock is still attractively valued. "We now forecast revenue decline of 5.1% in FY2021 compared to 1.1% earlier in US$ terms... We forecast EPS decline of 22.8% in FY2021 and an equally swift recovery with 35.6% growth in FY2022," the report said while it kept a 'Buy' rating and a target price of ₹630, about 15% higher from Thursday's (April 30) closing price. It will help the company get a foothold in the aircraft cabin interiors market that’s set to hit $40.18 billion by 2025 at an annual growth rate of 5.87%, according to <a href="https://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/ptp9sj/40_bn_aircraft?w=12">Research and Markets.</a> Will the aviation sector growing as a whole and the demand for flights increasing as prices drop, the demand for technologically advanced aircraft cabins is also increasing. Airlines have also realised that it’s better to customise aircraft cabin interiors according to their requirements before the aircraft is delivered rather than trying to retrofit it later. Demand for a feature rich cabin The primary challenge facing aircraft manufacturers today is how to reduce the weight of aircraft seats and how to increase the capacity of cabins. An Indian tech company will help Airbus design its aircraft cabins

Pune, May 10 () IT Services firm Tech Mahindra hasbeen issued a notice by the office of the Labour Commissioner,Pune, in Maharashtra on a complaint that the company hadreduced salaries of its employees to maintain "profitability'in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.A similar notice was issued earlier this month toanother IT firm, Wipro Technologies Ltd, on a complaintalleging that the firm was benching its employees.National Information Technology Employees Senate(NITES), an organisation working for the welfare and benefitsof employees in IT industry, had approached the LabourCommissioner's Office, claiming that they have receivedcomplaints from employees of Tech Mahindra, Pune, regardingthe reduction in salaries to maintain the "profitability ofthe business" under the COVID-19 pandemic."The company had also notified its employees throughan email on May 6 that the shift allowance, which is betweenRs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 per employee, will be stopped from May1," the complaint letter from NITES reads.The application further claimed that because of thisdecision, payment of over 13,000 employees of Tech Mahindra isreduced.The NITES sought appropriate legal action against TechMahindra stating that the firm has violated the Maharashtragovernment's directions, rules and regulations.In a notice issued on the same date, officials in theLabour Commissioner's Office directed the firm to go throughthe state government's resolution dated March 31, 2020, andtake appropriate steps and release the salaries for March andApril and to inform the labour commissioner's office.The notice, signed by Nikhil Walke, Assistant LabourCommissioner, asked the firm not to terminate employees orreduce the salaries, and further stated that otherwise legalaction will be taken.Tech Mahindra Spokesperson said, "The shift allowancepaid for hardship due to travel to work at odd hours and otherout of pocket expenses, continues to be paid to all TechMahindra associates, who are coming to the office or are atclient locations as per policy."Our focus remains to ensure the well-being of ourassociates, customers and partner eco-system while maintainingbusiness continuity".Meanwhile, in its notice dated May 1 to WiproTechnologies Ltd on an NITES complaint that the company wasbenching its employees, the Pune Labour Commissioner Officeasked the IT firm to respond and not terminate any employees.Harpreet Saluja, general secretary, NITES, said theyhad approached the labour commissioner's office after theyreceived complaints from employees of WIPRO BPO, located inHinjewadi regarding employees being put on the bench tomaintain profitability."The company also notified the employees on April 23that they are on the bench with immediate effect. Because ofthis (the decision of the company) the pay and jobs of morethan 300 employees are at risk," the complaint reads.A statement from Wipro Limited stated that thespeculation related to the workforce is unfounded and has nobasis."Wipro categorically denies these rumours. There areno salary cuts for employees who are in between projects andare awaiting new assignments. Also, the company wants toreiterate that there are no retrenchment plans. Wipro haswell-defined policies and people practices in place to takecare of its employees," the statement reads.It further stated that Wipro is yet to receive anycommunication from the Labour Department.The company will present the facts before thedepartment, as and when required. Pune:Labour office notice to Tech Mahindra on alleged pay cuts

New Delhi, Jan 28 () IT services major Tech Mahindra on Tuesday said it has set up a dedicated Google Cloud Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Hyderabad to drive digital transformation of enterprises globally.
 The CoE will provide enterprises with access to the technology and services they need to expedite their cloud migration and deliver tailored solutions to help them move critical workloads to Google Cloud, develop their Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data analytics solutions and improve workplace productivity, a statement said.
 The Centre will offer clients a full spectrum of cloud services that include consulting, assessment, migration, optimisation and support services for enterprises looking to optimise their workloads on Google Cloud, it added.
 "Tech Mahindra's deep industry expertise and proven solutions that focus on seamless modernisation of infrastructure, applications and data to the cloud, combined with the power of Google Cloud will help accelerate the Cloud journey for enterprises as they move towards a digital-first future," Tech Mahindra Global Head Cloud Services Vivek Gupta said.
