The Mahindra Group company posted a net profit of Rs 493.9 crore in the year-ago period, according to an exchange filing. Revenue rose by 3.49 per cent to Rs 13,313.2 crore in the second quarter of 2024-25 compared to Rs 12,863.9 crore in the same quarter of 2023-24. "Other income includes gain on sale of property of Rs 4,502 million which comprises of freehold land and its related buildings along with the furniture &amp; fixtures sold for a consideration of Rs 5,350 million, receivable over a period of four years along with interest of 8.2 per cent p.a," the company filing said. Sequentially, net profit rose by 46.81 per cent and revenue by 2.36 per cent. "We continue to progress on our strategic improvement efforts even as the overall IT services industry has remained soft. "We have focused on strengthening client relationships and expanding the partner ecosystem while maintaining a sharp focus on operational excellence through project Fortius, which has resulted in an expansion of margins for the third sequential quarter," Tech Mahindra CEO Mohit Joshi said. The CEO unveiled Project Fortius in April, a three-year plan to achieve a 15 per cent operating margin with a focus on organic growth. "This quarter we see consistent performance around increasing deal wins, <keyword id="19965932" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="revenue-growth" source="keywords">revenue growth</keyword>, cost optimisation and steady free cash flow generation as we continue our journey towards FY27 stated targets. In line with our capital allocation policy the board has declared an interim dividend of Rs 15 per share," Tech Mahindra CFO Rohit Anand said. Tech Mahindra profit jumps over 2-times to ₹1,250 crore in Jul-Sep quarter

The company had posted a consolidated PAT of Rs 2,637 crore in the January-March quarter of the 2022-23 fiscal, <keyword id="19981454" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="mm" source="keywords">M&amp;M</keyword> said in a regulatory filing. <keyword id="19945274" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="revenue" source="keywords">Revenue</keyword> increased to Rs 35,452 crore in the fourth quarter, registering a growth of 9 per cent, as compared to Rs 32,456 crore in the corresponding period a year ago, it added. For the year full year ended March 31, the company posted a consolidated <keyword id="19942166" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="net-profit" source="keywords">net profit</keyword> of Rs 11,269 crore as against Rs 9,025 crore in FY23, an increase of 25 per cent. Revenue rose 15 per cent to Rs 1,39,078 crore in the last fiscal as compared with Rs 1,21,362 crore in FY23. "It has been an excellent year with most of our businesses delivering a high level of performance. Stock market 12 July: Sensex inches up over 80k, LTI Mindtree, Tata Steel, BPCL take early lead

Mumbai, <keyword id="6357096" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mahindra-Mahindra" source="Orion">Mahindra &amp; Mahindra</keyword> (M&amp;M) on Friday said its consolidated profit after tax grew 6 per cent to Rs 2,348 crore in September quarter 2023-24. The Mumbai-headquartered company had posted a PAT of Rs 2,209 crore in the July-September period of last fiscal, M&amp;M said in a statement. Revenue grew 15 per cent year-on-year to Rs 34,436 crore in the second quarter this fiscal, it added. The company said it witnessed robust performance across all businesses except Tech <keyword id="45224" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mahindra" source="Orion">Mahindra</keyword> which was impacted by weak demand and exits from non core accounts. "During second quarter, operating performance across auto, farm and services was robust. Auto rapidly grew to double its operating profit. Farm continues to be resilient despite tough market conditions," M&amp;M Managing Director &amp; CEO Anish Shah said in a regulatory filing. Tech Mahindra had a tough quarter, the company is now initiating the transformation journey in the business, he added. In the automotive sector, the company said its revenue grew 20 per cent year-on-year to Rs 18,869 crore in the September quarter. "We delivered yet another robust performance in this quarter. We have maintained our SUV revenue market share at 19.9 per cent while further improving our auto standalone PBIT margins," M&amp;M Executive Director &amp; CEO (Auto and Farm Sector) Rajesh Jejurikar said. In the tractor business, the company increased its market share by 150 basis points on the back of new launches of Oja, Swaraj Target and Naya Swaraj, he added. In volume terms, the company said it sold 2,12,078 vehicles in the quarter under review, as compared to 1,79,673 vehicles in the year-ago period, a growth of 18 per cent. Tractor sales were at 89,101 units in the quarter under review, as compared with 92,590 units in the same period a year ago, down 4 per cent. On a standalone basis, the company said its PAT grew by 67 per cent to Rs 3,452 crore in the second quarter as compared with Rs 2,068 crore in the same period last year. Shares of the company were trading 1.84 per cent down at Rs 1,524.60 apiece on the BSE.

Markets rally for 6th day running on firm Asian peers; Tech Mahindra jumps over 12%

New Delhi, <keyword id="45473" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mahindra-Holidays" source="Orion">Mahindra Holidays</keyword> &amp; Resorts India Ltd on Monday reported a consolidated profit after tax of Rs 21.43 crore for the second quarter ended September 2023. The company had reported a consolidated Profit After Tax (PAT) of Rs 41.4 crore in the corresponding period of the previous financial year, according to a regulatory filing. Its revenue from operations during the July-September quarter stood at Rs 655.27 crore, as against Rs 598.36 crore in the year-ago period, it said. The company's total expenditure also rose to Rs 636.32 crore, from Rs 574.65 crore a year ago.

During the day, it tanked 6.76 per cent to Rs 1,312.50. It fell 5.89 per cent to Rs 1,325 on the NSE. It was the biggest laggard among the Sensex and Nifty firms. The company's market capitalisation (mcap) eroded Rs 8,407.73 crore to Rs 1,29,011.81 crore. In the broader equity market, the 30-share <keyword id="19950208" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="bse-sensex" source="keywords">BSE Sensex</keyword> declined 359.64 points to settle at 70,700.67, and the Nifty fell 101.35 points to 21,352.60. For the reporting quarter, its overall revenue from operations declined 4.6 per cent to Rs 13,101 crore from Rs 13,734 crore in the year-ago period. However, it was a sharp decline in operating profits, with margins narrowing to 5.4 per cent from 12 per cent in the year-ago period, which seems to have impacted the headline profit.

The target multiple is based on the five-year average next twelve months (NTM) P/E, as per Bloomberg consensus estimates, to account for a gradual recovery in the demand cycle. In the automotive sector, the target multiple is also unchanged and rolled forward by a quarter. A holding company discount of 10% is applied, similar to Escorts. However, there's a 20% discount compared to peers Maruti Suzuki (MSIL) and Ashok Leyland (AL) due to concerns about automotive market share loss. The Electric Vehicle (EV) business is valued at 2.3x the estimated EV revenue for the same period. The target multiple for EV aligns with global EV companies' market cap/revenue multiples for December 2025. The target price has risen due to higher earnings estimates and a valuation base shift. Additionally, the value of Bajaj's stake in Pierer Bajaj AG, with holdings in PIERER Mobility AG, is included in the assessment. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Tata Motors" comment="Subhead" text="Tata Motors">Tata Motors</cmsannotation> Tata Motors gets a "BUY" recommendation with a target price of 770, mirroring the current price. The valuation relies on a sum-of-the-parts (SoTP) method, averaging various valuation methods, such as EV/Sales, EV/EBITDA, EV/EBIT, and P/E ratios. The multiples remain the same, but the valuation base is extended by a quarter. Different valuation multiples are applied to segments like JLR, China JV, Passenger Vehicles (PV), and Commercial Vehicles (CV), considering their estimated sales, EBITDA, EBIT, and EPS for September 2025. These multiples are benchmarked against similar companies, with target multiples discounted by 20% for JLR and China JV, and 50% for CV and PV. The Electric Vehicle (EV) business valuation is based on the last funding round average with a 30% discount, and the target price remains unchanged.

PV sales to shift gears courtesy festive season but 2-wheelers’ struggles to continue

Stocks of the Mahindra &amp; Mahindra (M&amp;M) group have been under selling pressure and were the top Sensex losers on Thursday. M&amp;M slumped 6.5 per cent after the company announced equity stake buy in RBL Bank. On Wednesday, it made an announcement of acquiring a 3.53 per cent stake in RBL Bank as an investment at a cost of Rs 417 crore. “We may consider further investment subject to pricing, regulatory approvals and required procedures. However, in no circumstance will it exceed 9.9 per cent”, M&amp;M said in a filing. In a communication, RBL Bank said that the holding of M&amp;M Limited as per the last beneficiary position as on July 21 as received from the depository (NSDL) is 3.53 per cent of the total paid up share capital of the bank. “We being a listed company, for trading in the shares of the Bank there is no pre-approval required from the bank except for the fact that as per the Master Direction -- <keyword id="6354335" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="reserve-bank-of-india" source="Orion">Reserve Bank of India</keyword> (Acquisition and Holding of Shares or Voting Rights in Banking Companies) Directions, 2023, any shareholder who wishes to acquire 5 per cent or more of the shareholding of the bank is required to make an application to Reserve Bank of India to seek their prior approval for such acquisition. No such application has been received by us till date,” the bank said. <keyword id="43217" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="tech-mahindra" source="Orion">Tech Mahindra</keyword> was down more than 3 per cent after the IT major’s poor show in Q1 results. Motilal Oswal Financial Services said in a report that Tech Mahindra delivered a weak 1QFY24 performance, with revenue declining 4.2 per cent QoQ in CC to $1.6 billion, missing our estimate of a 2.5 per cent decline. "Due to the sharp dip in revenue, Tech Mahindra also saw a steep fall in profitability, exacerbated by a 200bp one-time impact from bankruptcy of a client. We expect the company’s profitability to improve from 2Q onward, partially through sharp cost control and headcount cuts despite high utilisation," the report said. "While we expect a potential for performance improvement after the leadership refresh in Jun’23, we believe this will take time given the macro headwinds and limited flexibility to invest in growth because of weak current profitability. We remain on the sidelines as we feel the current valuation fairly factors in the uncertainties around growth and margin. We cut our FY24/FY25 EPS estimates by 8-10 per cent on weak margin and muted outlook." Emkay Global Financial Services said Tech Mahindra’s revenue slumped 4 per cent QoQ (4.2 per cent CC) to $1.6 billion, missing our estimates. EBITM declined by 440bps QoQ to 6.8 per cent, well below our estimate even after adjusting for one-offs. Deal wins remain weak, and stand at $359 million (TTM deal-intake down 25 per cent YoY). Tech Mahindra has failed to capitalise on its strength in the areas of communications, ER&amp;D, BPO, XDS, etc, and deliver consistent performance in the past, the note said.

M&M group stocks under pressure after RBL Bank investment, TechM's earnings miss

IT company <keyword id="43217" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="tech-mahindra" source="Orion">Tech Mahindra</keyword> expects to soon hit USD 7 billion revenue run rate for the current fiscal year, out of which the telecom vertical is estimated to contribute USD 3 billion, a top official of the company said on Monday. Tech Mahindra Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer CP <keyword id="45924" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="gurnani" source="Orion">Gurnani</keyword> told PTI that the company has hit a run rate of USD 1 billion (about Rs 8,300 crore), from 5G solutions that it provides to telecom companies. "We are at an annual revenue run rate of USD 6.6 billion. We expect to reach USD 7 billion run rate for this fiscal. Telecom vertical is expected to contribute USD 3 billion to this. We have already touched a revenue run rate of USD 1 billion from 5G services," Gurnani said at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2023. Tech Mahindra posted a 5 per cent decline in consolidated profit after tax at Rs 1,297 crore for the December quarter. Revenue from operations, however, increased 20 per cent to Rs 13,734.6 crore from Rs 11,451 crore a year ago. Tech Mahindra President, Communications, Media and Entertainment Business, and CEO, <keyword id="659906" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="network-services" source="Orion">Network Services</keyword>, <keyword id="644257" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="manish-vyas" source="Orion">Manish Vyas</keyword> said 50 per cent of the company's business comes from the American region, 30 per cent from Europe and 20 per cent from the rest of the world. "We believe this trend will continue because we have invested in these geographies. All the sectors within telcos, be it the growth of fibre, fixed wireless, new product build and all the transformation on the digital side, have continued to provide us growth," he said. Talking about the impact of the global macroeconomic situation on the company, <keyword id="30343" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="vyas" source="Orion">Vyas</keyword> said uncertainty still remains across the globe and there will be intense pressure on the cost of services. "The overall macroeconomic situation still remains uncertain. People will need to conserve as we go forward. It is an important opportunity for us to continue to drive cost optimization through simplification. The broad macroeconomic situation also will evolve as we come out of this uncertain time. People will need to continue to innovate more. Particularly with the whole focus on generative AI as well as the way metaverse will be used by enterprises," he said. Vyas said that globally the company has acquired 42 new logos this year to whom it is providing network transformation including solutions for private 5G networks. "It is essentially a network on the cloud, software-defined network and private network. The growth driver has been a requirement of enterprises to simplify their operations and modernise tracking of their business data," he said. Gurnani said several companies are engaging with Tech Mahindra to simplify, modernise and monetise their networks, and the rollout of the 5G network across the globe will continue to drive the business of the company. "We are very keen to look at how the rollout of 5G and deployments will happen. It is a big year from a deployment standpoint. It is a big year for the modernisation of the digital stack. I think telcos will look to find adjacencies with fintech, learning, manufacturing, IoT etc for growth. We are very excited about 2023. There are a lot of case studies that will emerge in all these areas," Vyas said.
