These changes are to be unveiled this Friday, on the 22 June, by Civil <keyword id="31907" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Aviation">Aviation</keyword> Minister, Suresh Prabhu and his deputy, Jayant Sinha. The first class and business class seats of the Boeing 777 and 787 aircraft fleet, which operate short and long haul international routes, are expected to be replaced with the Maharaja business class seats. They will be upgraded with better ambience, upholstery, in-style night kits, in addition to other new features. One of the officials told <a href="http://www.ptinews.com/news/9816737_Air-India-set-to-have--Maharaja--class-seats-on-international-flights.html">PTI </a>that the objective of this much needed change is to make the carrier more customer-focussed with enviable services. Another official mentioned that it is just a part of the larger attempt to attract more consumers for the international flights. Understandably, efforts are being made to increase the revenue and the market share of the firm. AI’s current market share is only 17% and it has recently been hit by major losses. The airline has been <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/business/india-business/ensure-salary-delays-dont-happen-in-future-air-india-pilots/articleshow/64545982.cms">unable to pay</a> the salary of its crew on time, for months now. AI required the assistance of banks and financial institutions for short-term loans of ₹10 billion, besides soliciting the government for another ₹20 billion. The government was trying sell off 76% of AI’s stakes, however, the bid was closed simply because it had no buyers. One of the major reasons for the same was that the buyers were expected to buy liabilities and pay off loans for the firm once the purchase was done. However, Prabhu has announced that the government is not completely doing away with the idea of AI’s strategic disinvestment. However, the temporary halt put on AI’s disinvestment has given AI employees a reason to celebrate. The Centre had ordered NGMA to collect the artwork as a donation from AI since it is the only institution in India to have the authority to collect and display modern art. NGMA also plans to exhibit some of the pieces at its Jaipur House building. The government of Mumbai had begun taking inventory of the collection in 2014 and had found that some valuable pieces were not properly preserved. Last year, the Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Jayant Sinha, had announced that he hoped to ensure a safe custody for the artwork soon. For the same purpose, setting up of a museum at Nariman Point building was proposed with a budget of ₹ 50 million. However, the tender was never awarded since it was not certain whether the <keyword id="34984" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="airline">airline</keyword> would continue to operate or not. There are no official estimates of the worth of the entire collection of the art at the AI Mumbai office. It has about 7,000 items including the 4,000 paintings, stone sculptures, wooden frames, decorative items and clocks. Some of the items even date back to the 9th century. The collection was built over more than 60 years after Independence and was driven by JRD Tata who wanted to put “a little bit of India” in the offices of the erstwhile Tata Airlines.

AI to “donate” its Maharaja Collection of 4,000 paintings

<keyword id="2573" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="air-india" source="Orion">Air India</keyword> plans to introduce sophisticated features to its generative artificial intelligence virtual agent that handles more than 6,000 customer queries daily. The Tata Group-owned airline is using ChatGPT to analyse even some complex questions it may not be able to immediately answer to improve customer experience in later interactions and is helping it to become more attuned to natural language. In a release on Friday, Air India said it has become the world's first airline to have successfully deployed a Generative AI virtual agent '<keyword id="6388899" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="maharaja" source="Orion">Maharaja</keyword>', powered by Microsoft's Azure OpenAI service. The agent has successfully answered over half a million customer queries since its pilot launch in March 2023, and today manages over 6,000 queries a day in four languages, the release said. According to the airline, 'Maharaja' manages an extensive spectrum of customer queries across 1,300 areas, including those related to flight status, baggage allowances, packing restrictions, check-in, frequent flyer awards, airport lounge access, flight changes and refunds. The agent speaks Hindi, English, French, and German. "Of the 6,000-plus questions received each day, over 80 per cent are successfully answered in seconds. About 15 per cent of customer queries today require additional assistance, and Maharaja recognises this automatically and orchestrates a seamless handoff to Air India's contact centre agents," the release said. In the coming months, the airline plans to launch a host of sophisticated features, driven by patent-pending technologies. "This includes a novel user experience that changes the way customers interact with AI agents with a combination of textual and graphical interactions that can potentially further speed up customer interactions... Air India also plans to enhance the current AI agent with data-driven deep-personalisation capabilities," the release said. Satya Ramaswamy, Chief Digital and Technology Officer at Air India, said that after the emergence of Large Language Model driven generative AI capabilities, it is increasingly seeing a definitive shift in guest preferences to use chat interactions to get the information and support they need quickly. Air India also said that generative AI solutions help automate repetitive and mundane tasks such as booking, cancellation and confirmation, and free up bandwidth for human agents to focus on more complex and value-adding interactions. The full service carrier has embarked on an ambitious expansion plan. Air India bets on generative AI, to introduce more AI features to address customer queries

International Finance Corporation (<keyword id="85860" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="IFC">IFC</keyword>), a wing of the <keyword id="6354424" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="World-Bank">World Bank</keyword>, has raised Rs 600 crore through its rupee-linked bonds that will be listed on the National Stock Exchange (<keyword id="6354646" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="NSE">NSE</keyword>) by this week. The bonds are called IFC Maharaja Bonds, and they have been issued to support the capital markets and provide funding for various infrastructure projects. 
 IFC may issue more such bonds as and when it requires funds for its projects. It is after 10 years that a foreign institution is raising funds through bonds after the <keyword id="50190" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Asian-Development-Bank">Asian Development Bank</keyword> (ADB). 
 
Earlier this year, IFC had undertaken an offshore bond programme, raising $1 billion worldwide. 
 
IFC’s Global Treasury Head (client solutions), Keshav Gaur, said the onshore bond was mainly subscribed by institutional investors, both domestic and foreign. 
 
“With these Maharaja Bonds, we are creating value for investors,” IFC South Asia regional director Serge Devieux said. He added that the bonds received a good response from investors.

The Maharaja sold the palace to the US Consulate to pay off his taxes after the independence. 
 
"All these properties have been bought for personal use. Therefore, their valuation can't be ascertained on market rates. There are many such properties which are likely to be put on the block in future,” said PwC India director Shashank Jain said.

The appellate tribunal has set aside the previous orders of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), which had allowed Maharaja Dev Raj and Rajkumari Lalitya Kumar majority stake in the company Jai Mahal Hotels Pvt Ltd, which owns the majestic property. A two-member NCLAT bench observed that Rajkumar Dev Raj and Rajkumari Lalitya "can not claim title on the basis of succession certificate dated February 19, 2009". "The alleged acts of oppression complained of by 1st and 2nd respondents (Rajkumar Dev Raj and Rajkumari Lalitya) occurred around 2001. Maharani Gayatri Devi on the death of Maharaj Jagat Singh (her son) on February 5, 1997 became his sole legatee by virtue of will dated June 23, 1996," NCLAT said in an order dated March 12. "Therefore, Rajkumar Dev Raj and Rajkumari Lalitya cannot claim inheritance on original 5,050 shares to be legal heirs of Late Maharaj Jagat Singh on his death (February 5, 1997)," it said. The NCLAT also said that "alleged acts of oppression complained of by 1st and 2nd respondents occurred around 2001" and they became shareholders of Jai Mahal Hotels on November 14, 2008 and February 19, 2009. "The Tribunal (NCLT) failed to consider the abovesaid aspects and wrongly held that Rajkumar Dev Raj and Rajkumari Lalitya inherited the shares of Late Maharaj Jagat Singh on February 5, 1997 on the death of Maharaj Jagat Singh," it said while setting aside the previous order. NCLAT further said that Maharani Gayatri Devi, who was at all material times including in 2001, was the sole legatee of Late Maharaja Jagat Singh, had through a letter on April 10, 2001 left it open to Jai Mahal Hotel to offer the shares to other existing shareholders and declined to subscribe to any shares. "In view of the aforesaid finding the impugned judgement dated August 1, 2018 passed by the Tribunal cannot be upheld. It is accordingly set aside," said NCLAT. Earlier on August 1, 2018 NCLT had restored the ownership of Jai Mahal hotel in favour of grandchildren of late Maharani Gayatri Devi. Allowing the petition of Gayatrai Devi's grandchildren, NCLT had set aside the resolution of the extraordinary general meeting of the company held in March 1999 and March 2001 regarding appointments on board and dilution of their stake. It had restored the "position ante immediately upon death of Maharaja Jai Singh " and set aside the resolution passed in the board meeting regarding allotment of shares. NCLT had restored their original position of the shareholding as well as the board of directors, and thereby making the grandchildren of Maharani Gayatri Devi as the owners of the Jai Mahal hotel in Jaipur. The grandchildren had earlier won the battle for transmission of their father's shares in their names. Built in 1745, the Jai Mahal Palace is now operated as a hotel by Taj group of Hotels.
