Stringent measures will be taken to implement the alert (lockdown) . Vij had extended the lockdown from May 10 to May 17 last Sunday. The first lockdown during the current second Covid-19 wave in Haryana was imposed by the state government on May 3 for a week till May 10. Haryana government extends lockdown in the state till May 24

The <keyword id="41646" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Haryana">Haryana</keyword> government on Sunday announced extending the coronavirus-induced <keyword id="91743" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="lockdown">lockdown</keyword> in the state by a week till May 17. Making the announcement on Twitter, Home and Health Minister Anil Vij said, "Mahamari Alert/ Surkshit Haryana announced from 10 May to 17 May. Stringent measures will be taken to contain the spread of Corona in Haryana." Vij later told that the restrictions, which are currently in force, will continue till May 17. Last week, the Haryana government had imposed a lockdown in the state from May 3 to May 10 (5 am). According to an official order issued late Sunday night detailing the fresh guidelines of the extended lockdown, no gathering of more than 11 persons will be allowed, including in weddings, cremation and funerals. Marriages will be allowed only at home and in courts with a maximum limit of 11 persons. No movement of 'barat' procession is allowed, the order said. Earlier, in case of funerals, congregation of more than 20 people was not permitted, and marriage functions were subject to permission from district magistrates or officers authorised by them. The maximum ceiling at marriage functions was 30 persons in indoor spaces and of 50 in open spaces, as per earlier orders. To contain the spread of COVID-19 in the state, Chief Secretary Vijai Vardhan, in exercise of powers under the provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, extended the restrictions imposed through earlier (lockdown) orders issued on May 2, for another one week. This extension is from May 10 (5 am onwards) to May 17 (5 am) in Haryana and it is to be observed as "Mahamari Alert-Surakshit Haryana", Vardhan said while issuing the fresh restrictions on Sunday. The Haryana government has termed the lockdown as "Mahamari Alert/Surkshit Haryana". "Tree felling operations of the forest department and the <keyword id="479891" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Haryana-Forest-Development-Corporation">Haryana Forest Development Corporation</keyword> shall remain operational subject to the condition that they will be allowed only to the extent required for meeting the fuel wood requirements of <keyword id="6414396" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="municipal-corporations">Municipal Corporations</keyword> and district administrations," the order stated. In the past few weeks, Haryana has registered a surge in COVID-19 infections as well as fatalities. The surge has seen increased pressure on hospitals with demand for medical oxygen also increasing manifold. In a tweet, Chief Minister <keyword id="2458540" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Manohar-Lal-Khattar">Manohar Lal Khattar</keyword> said, "Given the severity of the 2nd wave, I appeal to everyone to cooperate with the government so that we can succeed in breaking the chain and emerge victorious." Haryana on Sunday reported 151 COVID-19-related deaths taking the cumulative toll to 5,605 and another big surge of 13,548 infections pushed the total case count to 6,15,897. During the earlier lockdown period, the government had urged residents to stay indoors. Several categories of people, including those tasked with law and order, emergencies and municipal service duties and government machinery engaged in COVID-19-related duties, will be exempted from the lockdown. Haryana government announced 'Surkshit Haryana' extension of lockdown in the state from May 10 to May 17

The <keyword id="91743" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="lockdown">lockdown</keyword> to contain COVID-19 in <keyword id="41646" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Haryana">Haryana</keyword> has been extended by a week till June 7, the <keyword id="51011" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="state-government">state government</keyword> announced on Sunday, as it relaxed curbs imposed on shop timings and <keyword id="45856" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Malls">malls</keyword>. The state government termed the lockdown "Mahamari Alert/Surkshit Haryana (Epidemic Alert/Safe Haryana)". Addressing a virtual press conference, Chief Minister <keyword id="2458540" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Manohar-Lal-Khattar">Manohar Lal Khattar</keyword> said even though the COVID-19 situation has improved in the state, it has been decided to extend the "Mahamari Alert/Surkshit Haryana" lockdown till 5 am on June 7 with some more relaxations. He said shops which were earlier allowed to open as per odd-even basis from 7 am to 12 pm will now be open from 9 am to 3 pm. "We had received representations from market associations after which we decided to change the timings. However, the shops will continue to open as per the odd-even system," Khattar said. Malls will now be allowed to open from 10 am to 6 pm, subject to certain conditions, he said. The number of visitors to be allowed inside a mall will depend on the size of the structure, the chief minister added. "For example, in a 1,000 square feet mall, 40 people will be allowed at a time, and if it has an area of 2,000 square feet, the number of people allowed at a given time will be 80," he said. Those allowed entry can stay inside for a limited duration, and entry of others will be permitted based on how many are inside the mall at a particular time, Khattar added. "Mall operators will have to come out with a mechanism for this, and they will have to take necessary permission from deputy commissioners concerned," he said. Colleges, industrial training institutes and schools will remain closed till June 15 as already announced, the chief minister said. The daily "corona curfew" timing in the state will continue to be from 10 pm to 5 am, he added. Replying to a question, the chief minister said that unlike last year's lockdown, when the state's revenue collections took a major hit, the impact on excise and GST collections due to the current lockdown has been marginal. To contain the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in Haryana, the state government had initially imposed a lockdown on May 3 for a week till May 10, which has now been extended four times. COVID-19 cases, positivity rate and the death count due to the disease have come down significantly following the imposition of the curbs. Haryana extends COVID-19 curfew for another week till June 7, relaxes certain restrictions

Nearly half of the number of Covid-linked fatalities in <keyword id="41646" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Haryana">Haryana</keyword> were recorded in May as the state also registered a sharp spike in the cases last month, state health department data showed. On April 30, 2021, Haryana had a total 4,216 COVID-19 <keyword id="6419711" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Deaths">deaths</keyword>, which climbed to 8,303, as on May 31. During the same period, the virus count rose from 4,87,978 to 7,56,635. <keyword id="6356789" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="gurugram">Gurugram</keyword>, <keyword id="47896" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Faridabad">Faridabad</keyword> and <keyword id="6369200" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="hisar">Hisar</keyword> remained the districts hardest hit by the pandemic. Between April 30 and May 31, coronavirus-related fatalities in Gurugram increased from 476 to 813, while the number of cases in the district, which falls in the <keyword id="6371638" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="national-capital-region">National Capital Region</keyword>, rose from 1,22,948 to 1,79,960. In Faridabad district, the death toll from COVID-19 climbed from 512 to 708, while the infection count jumped from 72,768 to 98,945. In Hisar district, fatalities doubled from 440 to 870 while the infection tally went up from 29,755 to 52,966 between April 30 and May 31. The cumulative <keyword id="8764262" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="covid">Covid</keyword> positivity rate in the state went up from 6.63 per cent to 8.39 per cent while the fatality rate increased from 0.86 per cent to 1.10 per cent during the past one month. As on May 31, Nuh district had the lowest number of fatalities and COVID-19 cases in the state with 93 deaths and 4,862 infections, followed by Charkhi Dadri with 110 deaths and 4,915 cases. The number of active cases, which was around one lakh a month ago, has now come down to nearly 18,000 at present. The Covid recovery rate improved from 79.14 per cent, as on April 30, to 96.45 per cent on May 31. The tests per million population increased from 2,91,694 to 3,57,014 while the vaccination coverage also increased during the period from April 30 to May 31 from 38,13274 doses to 57,12,100 doses being administered.
