Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], November 13 (ANI): Mumbai police have registered a case against 32 people including the promoter of the <keyword id="16404205" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="mahadev-betting-app" source="Orion">Mahadev betting app</keyword> under various sections of fraud and gambling. According to the information, two prominent businessman names have also been included in the case. Police registered a case including Mahadev Betting App promoter Saurabh Chandrakar, Ravi Uppal and Shubh Soni, under various sections of fraud and gambling, based on the complaint of Prakash Bankar, a social worker from Matunga. According to the information, social worker Bankar has claimed that people have been defrauded to the tune of Rs 15,000 crore. "The accused were playing gambling and other games through the app. Illegal earnings worth crores were made through it," the complaint said. Matunga police registered a case against under sections 420, 465, 467, 468, 471, and 120 (B) of IPC. The accused Saurabh Chandrakar, Ravi Uppal and others used to receive money every month through hawala transactions. Earlier, The Noida Police booked 18 accused in the <keyword id="15960875" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="mahadev-app" source="Orion">Mahadev App</keyword> case under the provisions of the Uttar Pradesh Gangsters and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act. The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) is investigating the Mahadev Book Online Betting APP syndicate in which the promoters of this betting syndicate are allegedly sitting abroad and remotely running thousands of panels across India with the help of their friends and associates. According to the ED it has already arrested 4 accused persons and seized proceeds of crime worth more than Rs 450 Crore and has filed a prosecution complaint against 14 accused persons. On November 2 ED received intelligence input that large amount of Cash is being moved in Chhattisgarh by the promoters of Mahadev APP in relation to Assembly Elections scheduled on 7th &amp; 17th of November, 2023. ED conducted searches at Hotel Triton and another location in Bhilai and successfully intercepted a Cash Courier Asim Das who was allegedly sent from UAE especially, to deliver large amount of Cash for electioneering expenses of the ruling Congress Party. Mumbai, An FIR registered here pertaining to alleged illegal gambling and cyber fraud worth Rs 15,000 crore linked to <keyword id="16404205" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="mahadev-betting-app" source="Orion">Mahadev betting app</keyword> has been transferred to the Mumbai crime branch for investigation, an official said on Thursday. Considering the scope of probe into the case, Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar has transferred it to the crime branch, he said. The FIR was registered earlier this month at Matunga police station in Mumbai against 32 people, including the "promoter" of the app Saurabh Chandrakar, <keyword id="142062" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ravi-uppal" source="Orion">Ravi Uppal</keyword>, Shubham Soni and others for allegedly committing the fraud since 2019, police earlier said. As per the FIR, the accused have defrauded people of nearly Rs 15,000 crore. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) recently claimed a forensic analysis and a statement made by a 'cash courier' led to "startling allegations" that Mahadev betting app promoters have paid about Rs 508 crore to the Chhattisgarh chief minister so far, and that "these are subject matter of investigation". Later, the BJP released a video of Shubham Soni saying he was the owner of the app and had the "proof" of paying Rs 508 crore so far to Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel. The chief minister has rejected the claim. On November 5, the Centre issued blocking orders against 22 illegal betting platforms, including the Mahadev app, on ED's request. The action of banning the 22 illegal betting platforms follows investigations conducted by the ED against an illegal betting app syndicate and subsequent raids in connection with the Mahadev app in Chhattisgarh. The Chhattisgarh police have registered at least 75 FIRs in connection with the app and the ED has also conducted a probe into the case, the official said.

Uppal, 43, was detained last week in that country and the <keyword id="6357808" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="enforcement-directorate" source="Orion">Enforcement Directorate</keyword> (ED) authorities are in touch with the Dubai authorities to get him deported to India, they said. Uppal is being probed by the ED in a money laundering case linked to alleged illegal betting apart from the Chhattisgarh Police and <keyword id="36730" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="mumbai-police" source="Orion">Mumbai Police</keyword>. The federal probe agency had filed a money laundering charge sheet against Uppal and another promoter of the Internet-based platform, <keyword id="18788318" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sourabh-Chandrakar" source="Orion">Sourabh Chandrakar</keyword>, before a special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court in Chhattisgarh's Raipur in October. New Delhi, The <keyword id="6357808" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="enforcement-directorate" source="Orion">Enforcement Directorate</keyword> (ED) has summoned actor <keyword id="6357861" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ranbir-kapoor" source="Orion">Ranbir Kapoor</keyword> for questioning on Friday in connection with the Mahadev betting application money-laundering case in Chhattisgarh, officials said. They said the agency has accused Kapoor of receiving money from the promoters of the app for promoting their product in the virtual (online) space. The ED has asked Kapoor to appear at the agency's Raipur office on October 6, they said. Despite several attempts to contact the actor, there was no response from him. Around 14-15 other celebrities and actors are under the ED's scanner in the case and they will also be summoned soon, sources said.
