"Currently, across both the segments, we are recording a w-o-w growth in higher single-digit, and we are expecting this momentum to continue over the comings days. We are noticing an uptick in bookings for homebound travel. <ul><li><keyword id="7271887" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="dhfl-promoters">DHFL promoters</keyword> Kapil and Dheeraj Wadhawan have been taken into custody by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for their role in the <keyword id="8878575" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="yes-bank-scam">Yes Bank scam</keyword> case.</li><li>The brothers' trip to Mahabaleshwar was not in violation of the nationwide lockdown, but also the conditions of their bail.</li><li>An inquiry has also been initiated against Maharashtra's home department principal secretary Amitabh Gupta for giving the Wadhawans' permission to travel during the lockdown citing a 'family emergency'.</li></ul> The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken Diwan Housing Finance Limited (DHFL) promoters Kapil and Dheeraj Wadhawan into custody for their involvement Yes Bank scam case. "The Satara Police has extended to the CBI all required assistance and an escort vehicle with guards up to Mumbai on a written request. The arrest procedures are going on," said Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh. They were granted protection from arrest even though there was an FIR in their name registered under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The two had been staying at a government guest house in Panchgani along with 21 other family members for violating lockdown rules, according Deshmukh. They had been placed under institutional quarantine at the location on April 9 after it was revealed that the family had travelled from the Khandala to the family’s farmhouse in Mahabaleshwar. Not only did the trip violate the nationwide lockdown but it was also in violation of their bail conditions, according to Poornima Kantharia, Maharashtra’s government pleader. DHFL’s Wadhawan brothers had filed for anticipatory bail which was opposed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Earlier this week the Maharashtra police requested the CBI to take the Wadhawan brothers into custody. "Upon the completion of their institutional quarantine period, the family has been shifted to their property in Mahabaleshwar till 6 May," said the senior official of Satara police. An inquiry has also been initiated against Maharashtra's home department principal secretary Amitabh Gupta for giving the Wadhawans' permission to travel during the lockdown citing a 'family emergency'. he is already under 'compulsory leave'. Gupta gave the family consent to travel in five vehicles. However, once they reached Mahabaleshwar it sparked a huge political row. DHFL’s involvement in the Yes Bank fraud case Yes Bank co-founder Rana Kapoor allegedly entered into a criminal conspiracy with <keyword id="152129" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kapil-Wadhawan">Kapil Wadhawan</keyword>, according to the CBI. The scheme was that loans from Yes Bank were authorised for DHFL but ended up in the hands of companies, which were owned by Kapoor’s daughters, like DoIt Urban Ventures. Between April and June 2018, the CBI believes that Yes Bank invested approximately ₹3,700 crore in short-term debentures of DHFL. In addition, the bank also sanctioned a loan of ₹750 crore to RKW Developers, a DHFL group company, which had the other Wadhawan brother — Dheeraj — listed as the director. That entire loan was transferred from RKW Developers to DHFL without investing anything in the Bandra reclamation project, for which it was sanctioned. Yes Bank scam: DHFL's Kapil and Dheeraj Wadhawan taken into custody by CBI

New Delhi, Apr 29 () A special CBI court has extended the custody of DHFL promoter Kapil Wadhawan and his brother Dheeraj till May 1 in connection with a corruption case against former Yes Bank CEO Rana Kapoor in which both are accused, officials said on Wednesday.The duo was arrested from Mahabaleshwar in Maharashtra on Sunday and sent to the CBI custody till April 29 by the court, they said.On Wednesday, they were produced before the special CBI court, which extended the custody with the agency till May 1, the officials said.The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is questioning both the accused about alleged property deals and business transactions between DHFL, RKW developers in which Dheeraj is the director, and Kapoor and his family members, they said. Several deals between DHFL and Kapoor and his family members' company are under the CBI's scanner, the officials said. According to the CBI, Kapoor, 62, allegedly entered into a criminal conspiracy with the Wadhawans for extending financial assistance to DHFL through Yes Bank in return for substantial undue benefits to himself and his family members through companies held by them.The agency has alleged that between April and June 2018, Yes Bank invested Rs 3,700 crore in short-term debentures of the tainted Dewan Housing Finance Corporation Ltd (DHFL).In return, the Wadhawans allegedly paid kickbacks worth Rs 600 crore to Kapoor and his family members in the form of loans to DoIT Urban Ventures (India) Pvt Ltd, a company owned by Kapoors' wife and children, the CBI had said after registration of an FIR on March 7. "Kapil and Dheeraj Wadhawan were absconding since the beginning of the investigation and evaded joining probe," Agency spokesperson R K Gaur said after their arrest on Sunday.The agency had procured non-bailable warrants against them from the court on March 17 yet they did not appear before the CBI or the court, he had said. They were held by the Satara police earlier this month while allegedly violating the prohibitory orders related to lockdown when a carcade carrying Wadhawan family members was stopped at Panchgani in Maharashtra. The Wadhawan brothers were out on bail in connection to another money laundering case connected to the late drug smuggler Iqbal Mirchi. However, the brothers and twenty-one others were booked by the Satara police on April 8 for violating lockdown rules and were placed under institutional quarantine for 14 days. Once their quarantine ended on April 23, CBI officials took the brothers them custody from their family home in Mahabaleshwar April 26. On May 6, the ED submitted its own charge sheet against Kapoor, his wife Bindu, and their three daughters under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

Young hospitality brand Treebo, which began its operations only in 2015, was making about Rs 40 crore monthly sales at a near-neutral EBITDA but the grinding halt on travel and tourism brought its revenue to zero. However, after September 2020, people went on workations or took solo trips to snow-capped mountains in Manali or serene beaches in Goa. Today, Treebo is back to 40%+ average occupancy across the portfolio. The hotel chain is now expecting to revive to pre-COVID levels over the next 2-3 quarters. Telling us how the lockdown impacted Treebo and the status of its business today, Sidharth Gupta, Co-founder, Treebo said, “The lockdown brought our business to a screeching halt. From the point where we were doing about 40 Cr of monthly sales at a near-neutral EBITDA, we came down to pretty much zero sales and ballooned up EBITDA losses. We are now at 40%+ average occupancy for the portfolio, with the leisure properties doing 60-90% occupancies. This is a big uptick from where we were 3-4 months back. We expect this trend to continue and we should be at pre-COVID levels over the next 2-3 quarters.” However, once Treebo saw a window to open up its services, it was quick to revive. It executed a 3 point plan: Firstly, Treebo conserved enough cash to ensure that its family survives to see the other side of the crisis. Secondly, it pursued all possible revenue opportunities, no matter how unusual, to bring in some business for its hotel partners and lastly, it made sure the necessary safety measures were followed to give its guests the comfort and win their trust. “We stripped down our expenses by giving up our office altogether and offering people paid voluntary resignation schemes. On the second, we went after COVID-related demand (quarantine facilities, hospital extensions), we found ancillary revenue opportunities like leasing out of kitchens and parking space, we set up offices at our hotels for some of our corporate clients who were not equipped to switch to work-from-home, etc. And finally, we launched a comprehensive hygiene program called Treebo Hygiene Shield in partnership with Dettol to implement strict safety measures at our hotels,” explained Gupta. It also decided to put a halt on its marketing activities completely and shifted its focus to the fundamentals. On how the brand tweaked its marketing strategy after the lockdown, Gupta said, “Our marketing strategy was to not do any marketing at all! Yes we were active on our social media handles and were telling people about the safety measures we had put in place, but beyond that, we weren't doing anything. We decided to rather conserve our marketing monies because no matter how loudly you shout from the rooftop, people were not going to travel at that time. They were either being extra careful (and rightly so!) or they were just under lockdown. As we move forward, we are still being cautious and taking a very hard ROI lens for every single marketing dollar we spend. We have minimum hurdle expectations from each sales &amp; marketing channel and if we don't see that productivity, we pull the spend. I think the expectation around the vaccine becoming available for common citizens soon, combined with the falling number of cases in the country has given people the confidence to travel again. With international travel staying closed for the next 6-9 months in all likelihood, the prospects for the domestic travel sector could look even promising through the rest of this year.” It has seen leisure travel making a steady comeback and Gupta said, the work-from-anywhere travel trend is here to stay for a long time. “Leisure travel has been leading overall business recovery for us. We believe this surge in leisure travel will continue in the foreseeable future. We are therefore ramping our inventory in such markets to be able to serve this demand rush. People are feeling much more confident about traveling now and are giving themselves the much needed break from staying locked up at home. Secondly, smaller leisure destinations in close proximity to big cities are becoming hugely popular. Places like Mahabaleshwar, Lonavala, Coorg, Chikmaglur, etc. have seen tremendous interest from travellers. Thirdly, people are realising what a win-win work-from-anywhere trend is as they get to spend 2/4/6 weeks staying in some getaway town and working from there rather than being in office everyday. This will lead to people doing many more workations and making long stay bookings and hotels and resorts. And finally, customers' inclination to engage with branded suppliers has become even stronger.
