New Delhi, Apr 1 () Mahindra &amp; Mahindra (M&amp;M) on Wednesday reported 31 per cent decline in tractor sales at 13,613 units in March. The company had sold 19,688 units in the same month last year, M&amp;M said in a regulatory filing. Domestic tractor sales were at 13,418 units as against 18,446 units in March last year, down 27 per cent, it added. Exports in March stood at 195 units as compared to 1,242 units in the year-ago month, down 84 per cent, the company said. "The month was disrupted as business was hugely impacted by the lockdown just before the start of festive days in large parts of the country. In compliance with the regulations, the anticipated retail surge and billing totally stopped in all states," M&amp;M Executive Director, Auto &amp; Farm Equipment Sectors Rajesh Jejurikar said. He further said the central government has taken timely initiatives for the farming community in the form of specific relief packages. "We hope this will help bring in momentum for tractor sales, after the lockdown ends," Jejurikar added. RKL SHWSHW

M&M tractor sales down 31% at 13,613 units in March

New Delhi, Jun 3 () Mahindra &amp; Mahindra (M&amp;M) on Wednesday said it estimates production loss of 87,000 vehicles and 30,000 tractors in first quarter of current fiscal on account of suspension of manufacturing operations due to coronavirus-led lockdown. The company, which had suspended its entire operations on March 25, estimates loss of 23,400 vehicles and 14,700 tractors in March itself. "The estimated quantum of loss due to COVID-19 lockdown for first quarter of 2020-21 is around 87,000 vehicles and around 30,000 tractors," M&amp;M said in a regulatory filing. The revenue and profitability will be impacted in line with the fall in volumes, it added. "Notwithstanding this, the company expects to mitigate the adverse impact by reducing various variable and fixed costs and after absorbing all idle overheads caused by lockdown," it added. Even before COVID-19, the company had embarked upon an initiative to bring down costs and conserve cash. This programme is well under way and the company is expected to get benefits as a consequence of these initiatives in future, M&amp;M said. On sales outlook, it said the company expects tractor demand to show good improvement due to several positive factors such as record Rabi production, higher government procurement, announcement of higher MSPs and chances of a normal monsoon aiding a good Kharif crop. "The company's auto sales traditionally come from both rural and urban segments... expect quicker recovery in rural India while urban segment will take little longer time to come back to normalcy," the automaker added. The company said it has resumed tractor sales from April 14. Besides, 75 per cent of its automotive dealerships have also started operations, it added. "Lockdown phase five effective from June 1 has given additional relaxations, which will enable to ramp up the production, supply chain and distribution," M&amp;M said. The company said it has taken steps to ensure that it has adequate liquidity to meet its financial and other commitments. The automaker has successfully issued around Rs 1,000 crore of commercial papers and NCDs worth Rs 2,000 crore during April, 2020, at extremely attractive rates to shore up liquidity, it added. "Despite the near term strain on operations and cash accruals, the company, due to its strong liquidity position expects to service its debt obligations in a timely manner," M&amp;M said. Lockdown: Mahindra counts loss of 87k vehicles, 30k tractors in Q1

New Delhi, Mar 2 () Mahindra &amp; Mahindra on Monday reported 19 per cent increase in total tractor sales at 22,561 units in February as compared to 18,978 units in the same month last year. Domestic sales grew by 21 per cent at 21,877 units as against 18,105 units in February last year, Mahindra &amp; Mahindra (M&amp;M) said in a statement. However, exports were down 22 per cent at 873 units as compared to 684 units in the year-ago month, it added. "The tractor demand trend is expected to strengthen on the back of a robust Rabi output and the prevailing crop prices," M&amp;M President - Farm Equipment Sector Rajesh Jejurikar said. Going forward, the increase in rural and agri spending on core schemes by the government should augur well for the industry, Jejurikar added. RLK RKL ANSANS

M&M tractor sales up 19 pc in February at 22,561 units

New Delhi, Dec 1 () Auto major Mahindra and Mahindra (M&amp;M) on Sunday reported a 9 per cent decline in total sales in November at 41,235 units. 
 The company had sold 45,101 units in the corresponding month last year, M&amp;M said in a regulatory filing.
 In the domestic market, sales were down 7 per cent at 38,614 units last month as compared to 41,564 units in November 2018.
 Exports also declined 26 per cent to 2,621 units as against 3,537 units in the year-ago month.
 In the passenger vehicle segment, which includes utility vehicles, cars and vans, the company sold 14,637 units last month as compared to 16,188 units in the same month last year, down 10 per cent.
 In the commercial vehicle segment, the company sold 17,384 units in November as against 19,673 units in the same month a year ago, down 12 per cent.
 "The month post festive season is historically a lean month for the automotive industry. Consumer demand, especially for passenger vehicles, typically picks up in the year-end that is in December. Therefore, we expect December to pan out better for the automotive industry," M&amp;M Chief of Sales and Marketing, Automotive Division, Veejay Ram Nakra said. 
 Domestic sales in farm equipment segment in November stood at 20,414 units as against 25,159 units in the same month last year.
 Exports for the month stood at 618 units.
 Total tractor sales (domestic + exports) during November 2019 stood at 21,032 units as against 25,949 units in the same month last year.
 Commenting on the performance, Rajesh Jejurikar, President - Farm Equipment Sector, Mahindra &amp; Mahindra Ltd said: "We have sold 20,414 tractors in the domestic market during November 2019. With government support on agri and rural sector and healthy reservoir levels due to the above normal monsoon, we expect a good Rabi output in the coming months". RR

Mahindra total sales down 9 pc at 41,235 units in Nov

New Delhi, Feb 8 () Home-grown auto major Mahindra &amp; Mahindra (M&amp;M) on Saturday reported 73 per cent decline in consolidated net profit at Rs 380 crore for December quarter 2019 due to sluggish vehicle sales.The company had posted a profit after tax (PAT) of Rs 1,396 crore for the same quarter last fiscal, M&amp;M said in a statement."The results of Q3 F2020 includes a net loss on account of exceptional and one-off items of Rs 554 crore as compared to a net gain on account of exceptional and one-off items of Rs 519 crore in Q3 F2019," it said. Its revenue also moderated to Rs 12,120 crore in the latest quarter, as against Rs 12,893 crore in the same period last fiscal, it said. Vehicle sales during the third quarter stood at 1,23,353 units as against 1,33,508 units in the same period last fiscal, a decline of 8 per cent, the company said. Tractor sales also slipped 6 per cent to 81,435 units in the third quarter as against 87,036 units in the year-ago period, it added. Exports of vehicles and tractors declined 22 per cent to 9,633 units during the latest quarter, as compared to 12,363 units in the same period a year ago. However, it said, the Indian auto and tractor industry during third quarter has shown some signs of trend reversal and has seen moderation in the double digit de-growth seen in the first half, it said. Good monsoons, the festive season demand, improved liquidity conditions, new launches, especially in the Utility Vehicle (UV) segment and special schemes offered by OEMs for the auto industry were the key reasons for this moderation in de-growth, it said. The unseasonal rains in October 2019 did cause some damage to the kharif crop, but the sentiment in the agri and rural economy is fairly upbeat with good sowing of rabi crops supported by very good water reservoir levels and government announcement for thrust on infra projects. Going forward, it said, the supportive and coordinated interplay of monetary and fiscal policy will be of paramount importance in revival of growth. M&M Q3 profit slumps 73 pc to Rs 380 cr

According to industry data released on Friday, a total of 2,15,916 passenger vehicles were sold in the domestic market, representing a rise of 14.16 per cent, than the 1,89,129 units off-take during the like period of 2019. Similarly, the data released by <keyword id="8927894" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="the-society-of-indian-automobile-manufacturers">the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers</keyword> (SIAM) showed a sequential growth in sales during August. In July, the domestic passenger vehicles' sales had declined by 3.86 per cent to 182,779 units from 1,90,115 units sold during the corresponding month of the previous year. August auto sales: Festive season boosts passenger vehicles' sales, shows SIAM data

Time of "degrowth" was over and now the whole auto industry, especially those in the SUV segment, was smelling a turnaround, said Mahindra and <keyword id="6355744" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Mahindra-Group">Mahindra Group</keyword> President (Auto and Farm Sector) <keyword id="156418" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Pawan-Goenka">Pawan Goenka</keyword> to ET Now at the launch of its new small commercial vehicle ‘Jeeto’. Utility vehicle and tractor maker <keyword id="46869" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="MM">M&amp;M</keyword> is expecting a 16 per cent jump in its combined market share in the commercial vehicle segment with new launches. 

	"Our target is always as high as possible but I will not want to guess on what the market share will be like. If I was a customer, I would find this (Jeeto) a very-very good value proposition and the brief that we had given to our teams was that once you look at this vehicle rationally there should be no reason to buy anything else in terms of purchase price, fuel efficiency, maintenance," he said. 
 

	Goenka told ET Now that the company plans to launch one new tractor every year for three years under the Mahindra and Swaraj brands. 
 

	He is optimistic over the number, especially with the report of a turnaround in the monsoon. "Good forecast now will definitely impact the overall sales in the country. There was a lot of pressure on everyone because of the monsoon, especially for Mahindra because two of our core businesses -- tractor and fairly large portion of the automotive segment -- are dependent on the monsoon this year. So we are relieved right now as the signs are that we will have normal monsoon or may be even normal plus, which is good for companies that are playing in this rural economy." 
 Under the Mahindra range of tractors, M&amp;M sells models such as Yuvraj, Arjun, Bhoomiputra, Sarpanch and <keyword id="6362169" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Shaan">Shaan</keyword> at a horse power range of 15 HP to over 50 HP. 

	"Nothing has changed from the last time we had talked, I have talked about launching nine products, three new platforms...we have launched one major change, which was the XUV 5oo. We are launching one new platform today, which is the P601 platform Jeeto vehicle. We have two new platforms coming up and five more for later, which will happen during this year," Goenka told ET Now
