The Punjab Police on Saturday succeeded in its operation of "cage the queen bee" with the arrest of the mastermind of last week's heist of Rs 8.49 crore, <keyword id="231843" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="mandeep-kaur" source="Orion">Mandeep Kaur</keyword>, a.k.a. Mona, who has been named '<keyword id="17756864" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="bandit-hasina" source="Orion">Bandit Hasina</keyword>', from the office of CMS Info Systems Ltd, a cash management firm, based in Ludhiana, along with her spouse <keyword id="166229" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="jaswinder-singh" source="Orion">Jaswinder Singh</keyword> while returning from a famous Sikh shrine in Uttarakhand. Commissioner of Police Mandeep Singh Sidhu confirmed the arrest of the couple. The police also arrested one of their accomplices. Earlier, the police arrested six accused -- <keyword id="17707747" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="manjinder-singh-mani" source="Orion">Manjinder Singh Mani</keyword>, Mandeep Singh, Harvinder Singh, Paramjit Singh, Harpreet Singh and Narinder Singh -- and recovered Rs 5 crore from them. The police recovered Rs 12 lakh on information about Kaur that was concealed in the under-seat of her mother's scooter. Responding to the arrest of the couple, Commissioner of Police Sidhu said all the accused had wished that they would pay obeisance at Kedarnath, Haridwar and Hemkund Sahib after a 'successful robbery'. Kaur and her husband were arrested by a team of Punjab Police while they were returning from Hemkund Sahib. "When the couple came to know that their accomplices have been arrested, they begged pardon at Gurdwara Hemkund Sahib for the crime," Sidhu said. They got married in February. The gang of alleged robbers was led by Mandeep Kaur, whose husband and cousin were also blamed for the heist. She in connivance with her friend and CMS employee Manjinder Singh Mani, had planned the robbery. They along with their eight accomplices looted Rs 8.49 crore from the office of the CMS firm, in the early hours of June 10. Sidhu blamed the company for negligence in the safety of the cash. He said Rs 50 lakh was recovered from the house of Mani in Abuwal village. He had hidden the cash in a septic tank after wrapping the bundles in a polythene bag. On Friday, the police launched the operation "Let's Cage the Queen Bee" to arrest the main mastermind Mandeep Kaur and her husband.

He said 1,265 cancer patients have been provided free treatment under the <keyword id="15598908" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mukh-Mantri-Cancer-Rahat-Kosh" source="Orion">Mukh Mantri Cancer Rahat Kosh</keyword> in hospitals empanelled with the government. He said instructions have been issued to the health officials for giving impetus to the implementation of the government's health schemes and programmes so that the public may get benefit. "Punjab has a high prevalence of cancer and its treatment involves high costs which is not affordable for the patients belonging to the poor. In order to safeguard the life of the poor patients, this scheme has proven to be a boon for them as they can get free treatment up to Rs 1.5 lakh in any of the 19 hospitals empanelled with the government, including prestigious like <keyword id="40458" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="aiims" source="Orion">AIIMS</keyword> in Delhi, PGI in Chandigarh, CMC and DMC, both in <keyword id="6367131" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ludhiana" source="Orion">Ludhiana</keyword>, and Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital in Sangrur," the minister said in a statement. "Any resident suffering from cancer can apply for this cashless treatment scheme at the empanelled hospital. Also the procedure to approve such cases has been digitalised," the minister said. The patients can log on to www.mmpcrk.gov.in to track the status of their application online. New Delhi, <keyword id="4742614" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="ministry-of-housing-and-urban-affairs">Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs</keyword> (MoHUA) has joined hands with <keyword id="830092" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Zomato">Zomato</keyword> for home delivery of <keyword id="6361952" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Street-Food">street food</keyword> in six cities. As a part of Prime Minister <keyword id="456744" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="street-vendor">Street Vendor</keyword>'s AtmaNibhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) Scheme, the MoHUA entered into MoU with Zomato, to bring <keyword id="6770639" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="street-food-vendors">street food vendors</keyword> on its food-tech platform. In a statement MoHUA said that initially MoHUA and Zomato will run a pilot program by on-boarding 300 vendors across six cities namely - Bhopal, Ludhiana, Nagpur, Patna, Raipur, Vadodara. "The street vendors will be helped with PAN and fssai registration, training on technology/ partner app usage, menu digitization and pricing, hygiene and packaging best practices. Upon the successful completion of the pilot, MoHUA and Zomato plan to expand this initiative across the country in phases," it said. As per the MoHUA, this will give street food vendors online access to thousands of consumers and help these vendors grow their businesses. The MoHUA also launched the Mobile Application for PMSVANidhi se Samriddhi- Socio-economic profiling of PM SVANidhi beneficiaries and their families to link them to various Central government Schemes. "Covid-19 pandemic has restricted consumers from stepping out and forced them to follow physical distancing norms. In the given scenario it is important to connect Street Food Vendors with technology-enabled platforms to help them grow their business, thus helping them gain financially," said the ministry. In a first of its kind initiative, MoHUA entered into an MoU with Swiggy on October 5 last year and it is now joining hands with Zomato to empower street food vendors with digital technology. Zomato joins hands with the Indian government to deliver street food in Bhopal, Ludhiana, Nagpur, Patna, Raipur, and Vadodara

New Delhi, Apr 23 () Ludhiana-based Hand Tools Association on Thursday said it has moved the Supreme Court challenging the validity of the central government's order directing all employers to pay full wages to workers without any deduction during the lockdown period. Hand Tools Association President Subhash Chander Ralhan said due to the lockdown amid coronavirus outbreak, the industries are completely closed since March 25 and there is no work happening. "Due to the closure, we are not able to export goods or sell in the domestic market. There is no earning, so how we can pay wages and salaries. It is not possible," Ralhan, who an engineering goods exporter, said. He said that the association has approached the Supreme Court under Article 32 of the Constitution challenging the validity and vires of section 10(2)(l) of Disaster Management Act, 2005 and for setting aside of government order dated March 29 issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs. According to the order, the central government issued directions to ministries/departments, states and Union Territories to implement lockdown measures for containment of the spread of COVID-19, he said. "This petition only challenges clause (iii) of the said government order which directs all the employers to pay full wages to its workers, without any deduction, during the lockdown period," Ralhan said. The association has contended in the petition that the Disaster Management Act, 2005 does not empower the centre to direct the private establishments to pay full wages to its workers during the lockdown. "Government Order dated March 29, 2020, is in violation of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1948, which provides for payment of 50 per cent wages under natural calamity. The government issued the order in undue haste and without considering financial ability of private establishments to bear the burden of full wages during the period of lockdown," he said. He added that when hundreds of crore of unclaimed provident fund and Employees State Insurance Corporation contribution lies in banks attracting interest, the direction to private establishments to pay full wages is completely "arbitrary and unreasonable". "Government order violates Article 14,19 and 300A of the Constitution of India. Government order does not provide any clarification in respect of its applicability to workman class or to all employees of all private establishments, otherwise, this will have grave financial implications on all private establishments."Government order suffers from gross arbitrariness, irrationality and hostile discrimination, and liable to be struck down for being unconstitutional," he added.The association includes sole proprietorship firms, partnership firms and private limited companies, engaged in manufacturing and distribution of hand tools.
