Unable to pronounce his name, she ends up giving him the nickname Ted instead.Massey said it was "another example of her choosing something that is easier for her rather than trying to assimilate to the culture, which can often be seen as rude."<h2 id="dcbab899-8a8b-46e5-abcf-cab446acbd79">By season four, Emily's French faux pas are a 'lot less frequent' — but it may be too little too late.</h2><div type="image" title="Lily Collins as Emily in &quot;Emily in Paris&quot; season four." height="2024" width="2699" msid="113550459" hostid="261" sizebytes="175416"></div>Emily is far from being fluent by the time season four rolls around, although her "faux pas are much less frequent," Massey said.But audiences still don't hear her speaking a whole lot of French.Perhaps put off by her earlier blunders, Emily communicates mostly in English, although she seems happy to follow the odd conversation in French.This doesn't necessarily help her improve her language skills, as evidenced when she mistakenly identifies the word "bordel" as referring to a brothel when speaking to Julien and Luc (Bruno Gouery).Massey said: "The word also has a more idiomatic meaning as 'a big mess.' So, here it is: Steve is engaged to another woman, and Mary is planning their wedding.A dance of flirtation and denial commences between the groom and the wedding planner. By the end of the movie, Steve leaves his fiancée, who remains clueless about the entanglement, on their wedding day to pursue Mary moments later. After revisiting "The Wedding Planner," I was perplexed. Rather than viewing an engaged man that tests the waters with another woman as a terrible option for Mary, we're supposed to root for him. I can still laugh at the ridiculousness of Steve's race through San Francisco traffic at the end of "The Wedding Planner," roll my eyes at Emily's inability to speak a lick of French on "Emily in Paris," and goggle at the ornate costumes on "Bridgerton."However, I'd appreciate it if more of these movies and shows acknowledged that some men aren't worth fighting for and others will never change, regardless of what a woman does or says.
