The final blend is composed of up to 1,200 eaux-de-vie, 100% from Grande Champagne which is the first vineyard region of the Cognac region in France. Mr. Loiseau guided me into the experience by telling stories entailing the journey of the bottle and his own life which revolves around carrying tradition over centuries. Experiencing a lifetime Starting with the bottle, the Louis XIII is a piece of art and retains its design which has been passed on for generations. As we popped open the bottle carefully I noticed the hand-crafted crystal bottle that features French royalty symbols and a 21-carat <keyword id="18712" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="20" keywordseo="Gold">gold</keyword> neck. Even though the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/macau-slowing-continues-after-summer-slump-2014-9" target="_blank">gaming haven is going through its worst summer</a> since 2012, Hung's Louis XIII promises to take luxury to a whole new level when it opens in 2016. 
For example, the most expensive suite in the 22-story hotel is expected to cost as much as $130,000 a night, the <a href="http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424052702303997604579238361987195446" target="_blank">Wall Street Journal</a> reports.
"We at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars are delighted and honoured that Mr Hung has commissioned Rolls-Royce to provide the largest single order of Phantoms in history," said Rolls Royce CEO Torsten Mueller-Oetvoes in a statement. "The Louis XIII fleet of Phantoms promises to be one of most impressive sights ever seen in Macau when they arrive at the...hotel in 2016. Mr Hung's commission reaffirms Phantom's pinnacle position as the motor car of choice for those seeking to experience the finest luxury the world has to offer."

Although Louis XIII will have the largest fleet of Rolls Royces, it won't have the most famous hotel fleet. A Hong Kong Tycoon Just Placed The Largest Order In Rolls-Royce History

This past weekend saw the official groundbreaking in <keyword id="6517" type="COUNTRY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Macau">Macau</keyword> for the Louis XIII boutique casino and hotel.
Sited south of the Cotai Strip near the tony One Oasis residential complex, the Louis XIII will be so exclusive that, with the top suite going for $130,000 a night, it’s doubtful the hotel’s namesake monarch could have managed more than a weekend stay.
Slated to open in late 2014 or first quarter 2015, the boutique complex will include 230 or more rooms, as many as 66 gaming tables, and an outpost of Michelin <a href="http://www.luxury-insider.com/luxury-news/2013/03/food-for-thought-lambrosie-comes-to-macau" target="_blank">three-star restaurant L’Ambroisie</a>. The developers <a href="http://www.luxury-insider.com/luxury-news/2013/03/graff-diamonds-comes-to-macau-casino" target="_blank">have announced Graff Diamonds</a> as the first retailer in the complex’s invitation-only, appointment-only shopping atelier, in which no bauble will go for less than $1 million.
Stephen Hung, chairman of the Louis XIII development company (formerly Paul Y Engineering), promises an “unprecedented, über-luxury experience” for guests. There is little doubt as to who those guests are likely to be: in an April 29, 2013 article in the Financial Times, Hung commented that “The willingness of mainland Chinese to spend money on the very best is unprecedented.” It may be no coincidence that Louis XIII is also the name of one of <a href="http://www.jingdaily.com/china-on-track-to-be-worlds-biggest-cognac-consumer/24400/">China’s premium cognacs</a>, carrying the kind of price tag – $2,500 a bottle – that would fit right into an ultra-luxe mini-bar.
By the time Louis XIII opens its doors, it may well have a waiting list. According to the Financial Times article, visitor numbers to Macau have swelled by 20 percent annually, with gross gaming receipts topping $38 billion in 2012. And as <keyword id="1744776" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Jing-Daily">Jing Daily</keyword> <a href="http://www.jingdaily.com/the-whales-are-back-macau-casinos-hail-return-of-chinese-vips/24244/">reported in February</a>, after sluggish fourth-quarter traffic last year, China’s “big whale” high-stakes gamblers have begun returning to Macau.
The last word, however, belongs to Macau’s gaming regulators, who have yet to grant formal approval to the project.

Cooperman has been presenting at the conference for three years now. This year, he's not so optimistic. 
"I'm not as optimistic about my list year as the market is fully valued," he said, adding it had to do with his "view of the market." 
As a value investor, Cooperman says he tries to buy stocks with more growth. 
"Buying something at the right price is half the game," he said.
His picks for 2014 include Actavis (ACT), Citigroup (C), Thermo Fisher Scientific (TMO), Atlas Energy (ATLS), Gaming and Leisure Properties (GLPI), KKR &amp; Co. LLP (KKR), Nordic American Offshore Ltd. (NAO), QEP Resources (QEP), Supervalu Inc. (SVU), Louis XIII Holdings (577 HK), Monitise PLC (MONIF), and Sandridge Energy Inc (SD). 
CNBC's David Faber asked him about Citigroup. Cooperman said he thinks the economy is coming back.
Cooperman was also asked about Bank of America, which wasn't on his list. 
"I missed that one. I should've stepped into the same bathtub as Buffett," he responded, referring to the time Warren Buffett said <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/warren-buffett-dreamed-of-investing-in-bank-of-america-in-bathtub-day-before-called-moynihan-2011-8">he got the idea to invest in BofA after taking a bath. </a>

And we got there and there's this barn full of casks and they're all labelled and you're thinking 'this is an amazing treasure trove'. We tasted some of it and thought 'wow this is incredible'."But Jago has learnt never to make rash decisions based on one tasting alone - so they took the cognac back to London for the whole team to taste."In the cold light of day, sat in the office in Putney - they were horrible! Which just goes to show how influenced we all are by situations."The Last Drop chooses to bottle less than five percent of what they taste. This level of scrutiny is imperative, Jago says, to maintain the reputation of the brand."We are so governed by our reputation that if we were ever to release anything that was below par: that's it. We don't have a 12-year-old mainstream release that keeps the coffers full, this is all we do. So, we have to be completely convinced that we've got a treasure before we bottle it."Naturally, this level of rarity and quality comes at a price. By that, he means that Cognac must be made in the Cognac region of France, while brandy can be made anywhere in the world.Other big producers of Cognac include Martell, Courvoisier, and Hennessey."The pyramid goes brandy, Cognac, then Cognac Fine Champagne," he went on. "The word Champagne is used in the Cognac world because it comes from the latin 'campania,' which means rolling, chaly hills. The soil structure in the Champagne region is very similar to the Cognac region."He added that there are six growing regions within Cognac, with the "Premier Cru" (or best group of vineyards) sitauted right at the centre - Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne.Rémy Martin only uses grapes from these two most central parts."Because we only focus on the two most central parts we're allowed to call ourselves 'Fine Champagne.'"<h2>It's made from grapes</h2>"A lot of people don't realise that it comes from grapes, they associate it with a rum or whiskey or something like that," Charlton said. "It starts with grapes. We make a white wine, distill it, then age it in a very specific way."He added: "Our founder was a wine grower - we're one of the only large houses that was actually founded in the Cognac region by a french wine grower."<h2>It's one of the oldest spirits in the world</h2>Rémy Martin has been around for close to 300 years, according to Charlton."It's a very noble spirit," he said. "In 1728 it was given the royal accord - the seal of the French royal family. I think this is something that spurned on the global demand for it."He added that it became a symbol of "making it in life" in China, where you would give someone a bottle of Cognac when you visited their house."There are brands coming out now that would kill for this story, it's almost like a love story," he said. "We pre-date America, we've been through two World Wars, the French Revolution, we've got a royal stamp - they're not around any more."<h2>You can drink it in cocktails...</h2><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image">Remy MartinSidecar.</div></div></div>"Cognac is having a bit of a revival at the moment, mainly down to the craft cocktail movement," Charlton said.He said that if you look at original cocktail recipes, a large percentage were made with Cognac.One of the most famous is the Sidecar, pictured above. "1919 is the first time you'll see it written down [in history], in Harry MacElhone's ABC of Mixing Cocktails," he said. "It was made super famous at The Ritz in Paris, then The Savoy in London."He called it a "simple drink" which goes "back to basics.""It has three ingredients - Cognac, Cointreau, and fresh lemon juice. It follows the 2-1-1 rule of two strong, one sweet, one sour, which was the basis for most other cocktails - margaritas, daquiris, cosmopolitans."Manhattans, Classic Champagne cocktails, and Old Fashioned also work well with Cognac, according to Charlton.However, he said that "the further you go up the portfolio," you don't want to dilute the spirit too much."The entry level VSOP is fantastic for cocktails and long drinks," he said. Meanwhile, he said he would never make a Sidecar with the higher-end Rémy Martin XO. "It's OK to mix it on cocktails, but don't bruise the spirit," he said."For me, I love to drink it neat, but each unto their own. You can even turn it into an aperitif-style drink in the summer."<h2>You can pair it with food</h2>"Classically people think of it as an after dinner drink or maybe with a dessert," Charlton said. However, he added that it's actually "delicious" with food like parmesan and dark chocolate."We do these amazing events called XO Reveal, based around complexities of the spirit. It's like a feast with different items - a block of parmesan, coffee beans, a table with a pile of apples and lemon peels - to help people break it down."The brand has also just launched a year-long residency at Claude Bossi at Bibendum in Chelsea, London, which will become "the home of Rémy Martin" and feature food pairing and masterclasses from both teams."Cognac has always had that air of luxury and history," Charlton said. We usually think of <keyword id="6363239" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="luxury">luxury</keyword> items as just aesthetically beautiful creations, but craftsmanship often goes way below the surface.
Paris-based photographer Laurence Picot set out to peek inside some of the world's priciest items with his new exhibit <a href="http://www.luxinside.com/">LuxInside</a> (via <a href="http://www.wired.com/design/2013/09/x-rayed-luxury-items-reveal-technology-and-innovation/?mbid=social11663574#slideid-224411">Wired</a>).
To create the x-ray prints, Picot teamed up with radiologist Dr. Jean François Paul, software designer Sylvain Ordureau, and graphic designer Ricardo Escobar. With their combined range of skills, they created stunning photographs with updated scanning technology.
The photographs took years to make since the 3D imaging software had to be perfected. After de-noising the images, the team was able to differentiate between the different types of metals and materials that were used below the surface.
The LuxInside exhibition is produced by the Institut Français, and <keyword id="35660" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="features">features</keyword> a total of 14 art prints as well as the real objects that inspired them. Check out some of the photographs below.
