Daniel Rausch, vice president of Alexa and Fire TV, told his team via email that the company would be "maximizing our resources and efforts focused on generative AI," leading it to "discontinue some initiatives.""A lot of this is really the shift and spend toward the AI revolution," Dan Ives, a Wedbush Securities analyst, <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://thehill.com/policy/technology/4478773-why-tech-companies-are-laying-off-thousands-of-workers/">told</a> The Hill in February after a series of tech layoffs.It's not just Big Tech. A <a target="_blank" href="https://assets.ey.com/content/dam/ey-sites/ey-com/en_us/topics/ceo/ey-ceo-outlook-survey-us-edition-october-2023.pdf">survey</a> of 1,200 CEOs from large companies across the globe, conducted last fall by FT Longitude on behalf of EY, found that 100% of their businesses were making or planning to make "significant investments in generative AI." When asked how they planned to fund these investments, 71% of CEOs said they planned to "reallocate capital" from their technology budgets or other investment budgets — 34% said they planned to raise new capital."Whenever a new technology emerges and is found to be useful, companies decide to invest in that technology and sometimes invest less in other areas," Oded Netzer, a Columbia Business School professor and AI expert, told Business Insider via email.To be sure, these investments in AI are also <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/inside-the-ai-hiring-frenzy-big-tech-talent-war-2024-3">expected to lead</a> to significant hiring for <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/ai-specialists-hiring-big-tech-wall-street-high-paying-jobs-2024-4">AI-related jobs</a> — even if AI technologies begin to <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/will-ai-replace-jobs-generative-artificial-intelligence-tools-training-ceos-2024-1">replace some workers</a>. "But the magnitude of this shift is still hard to tell."<h2 id="3b5eabf8-ea8b-4a3a-8785-726ff7a46fe2">The risks of AI job replacement remains to be seen</h2>In the big picture, Netzer said he expects AI technologies to be an "enhancer rather than a replacer of jobs" in the years ahead."For many jobs, AI is likely to enhance our job, allowing us to spend more time on the things we enjoy doing and less time on the mundane," he said.He gave the example of a physician who has to devote precious time with patients typing notes on the computer."We are not far from AI making a transcription of the patient meeting," he said. It has been edited for length and clarity.I have been dreaming of a <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/tips-how-to-take-pictures-photos-solar-eclipse-2024-2">specific eclipse photo</a> since I was 12 years old: I wondered if I could get high enough in the sky to see the shadow of the moon moving over the Earth.I finally got my chance during the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/solar-eclipse-maps-time-weather-traffic-brightness-2017-8">2017 Great American Eclipse</a>, but capturing that perfect shot from my dreams was not easy.About a year before the eclipse Alaska Airlines announced it had an entire plane flying into the eclipse with just one seat left and it was holding a competition for that seat. It felt like fate.I poured my heart and soul into a 30-second video explaining why I should get the seat. All my eggs were in that basket. But when it announced the winner less than a week before the eclipse, I'd lost.I can't describe how devastated I was.At that point, it was a race against time. At first, I gave into my disappointment and laid in my bed. Then I started looking at commercial flight paths, which involved a lot of math.As I looked at flight paths, I realized that a <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/southwest-airlines-plane-detour-drop-off-flight-attendant-deadheading-2023-8">Southwest flight</a> from Portland, Oregon to St. Louis, Missouri would travel basically along the eclipse path. I had to be on that plane. But, I'm based in New York, so I needed to buy a last-minute cross-country flight to Portland.When I got there, that Alaska Airlines flight I had dreamed of was departing from the next gate. It felt like the universe was torturing me.Still, I was determined. When I arrived, I was <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/photo-international-space-station-hidden-passing-sun-2023-4">equipped with three cameras</a> and a surplus of cash in case I needed to bribe someone for a window seat.Then Southwest announced it was delaying the flight. My heart sank. I was going to miss the brief window to witness the eclipse, I thought. But then the flight crew clarified that they were deliberately delaying the flight so it would be inside the moon's shadow.I nearly died of relief, then decided to push my luck. I took out all my cameras and made sure the NASA t-shirt I was wearing was clear. I told the crew my whole saga. Lucky for me, the flight crew and pilot <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/best-photo-eclipse-2018-9#the-pilots-actually-circled-the-eclipse-a-few-times-so-passengers-could-witness-the-once-in-a-lifetime-event-thats-when-carmichael-captured-his-stunning-photo-2">took my mission to heart</a>.I was the first one on the plane, and the ground crew even cleaned my window. The pilot did circles at 39,000 feet and adjusted the angle of the plane so I could get the best possible shot.To be clear, this was not a private jet. This was a Southwest commercial plane rerouting its flight for my shot — I can't believe I was so lucky.After we landed, the real work began. I spent hundreds of hours over the course of a year <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/draggan-ai-tool-altering-photos-like-photoshop-steroids-research-paper-2023-5">editing the more than 1,200 photos</a> I'd taken.The <a target="_blank" href="https://joncarmichael.com/108">result</a> has been hailed as one of the most outstanding eclipse photos in history, showing not only the eclipsed sun, but also the shadow of the moon sweeping over the Snake River, the border between Idaho and Oregon.Getting that shot really was a childhood dream come true. If I try to reproduce a similar image, again, I'm worried <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/what-happens-people-struck-by-lightning-chances-2018-5">lightning won't strike</a> twice.So instead of trying to force it, I'm going to savor the experience this year.After all, <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/how-where-when-see-solar-eclipse-united-states-nasa-map-2023-3">total solar eclipses</a> are a miracle. They only happen because Earth is just the right distance from the sun and moon, so I really want to appreciate that magic during the 2024 total eclipse.<h2>What I'm doing differently this year</h2><div type="image" title="Total solar eclipse in the upper right of the photo with the moon's shadow cast down on the mountainous land below." height="1250" width="2000" msid="108530985" hostid="261" sizebytes="84742"></div>At first, I considered just enjoying this eclipse in nature with my family. I'm based in New York, relatively close to the path of totality, so it would have been easy.But then, Southwest Airlines contacted me about a partnership, and I couldn't say no.So now, I'll be on <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/delta-air-lines-solar-eclipse-flight-april-2024-2">another flight, high above clouds</a> and unpredictable weather, hoping to catch another spectacular image.The difference is, this time instead of being alone I'll be with the people I love: my mom, sister, brother-in-law, and nieces, Alayna and Madelyn.We'll be traveling on a flight from Dallas to Pittsburg, which should give us plenty of opportunity to photograph the eclipse with different landscapes.I'm keeping my specific ideas to myself, but I will say that the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/mississippi-river-dangerously-low-second-year-in-row-army-dredging-2023-9">Mississippi River</a> is an iconic feature of the US that I'd love to highlight.<h2>I'm planning ahead, and you should too</h2>Even though I'll be on a flight, getting a great photo of the eclipse takes a lot of planning ahead even if you're an amateur shooting with your smartphone.The angle of this eclipse means it will be higher in the sky than the 2017 event, making it more difficult to get the sun and the landscape into the same shot.I've been spending a lot of time using tools like this Navy <a target="_blank" href="https://aa.usno.navy.mil/data/Eclipse2024#forma">calculator</a> that lets you see the height of the eclipse at different longitudes and latitudes.Knowing what the eclipse will look like in various places will help me get the best shot — I hope.Regardless of whether I get a great photo this time, or not, being with my loved ones is what really matters to me this time around.Flying through an eclipse with Alayna and Madelyn, who are the same age I was when I first became fascinated with the skies, will truly be a full-circle moment.

Notably, Tyson said that Cameron "got the wrong sky over the sinking Titanic" in the <a href="https://www.insider.com/titanic-fun-facts-movie-2018-11">1997 film adaptation of the tragedy. </a>"We know the longitude, latitude, time, day when the Titanic sank," Tyson said. Neil deGrasse Tyson said James Cameron got the sky all wrong in the 'Titanic' sinking scene

New Delhi [India], August 22 (ANI): In its latest update on Chandrayaan-3 soft landing, <keyword id="6358064" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="isro" source="Orion">ISRO</keyword> on Tuesday said the mission is on schedule and systems are undergoing regular checks. "Smooth sailing is continuing, The Mission Operations Complex (at ISRO) is buzzed with energy and excitement!" ISRO posted on X, formerly Twitter. After Russia's Luna-25 mission failed, all eyes will be on India as its Chandrayaan-3 is set to land on the moon on August 23, 2023 (Wednesday), around 18:04 IST. The live telecast of the landing operations at MOX will begin at 1720 IST on Wednesday. Live actions of landing will be available on the ISRO website, its YouTube channel, Facebook, and public broadcaster DD National TV from 17:27 IST on Aug 23, 2023. Along with the mission's update, ISRO also released images of the moon captured by the Lander Position Detection Camera (LPDC) from an altitude of about 70 km. These images assist the lander module in determining its position (latitude and longitude) by matching them against an onboard moon reference map. On Monday, ISRO released a series of images of the lunar far side area captured by the Lander Hazard Detection and Avoidance Camera (LHDAC). This camera assists in locating a safe landing area -- without boulders or deep trenches -- during the descent. Also, in a significant development, the Chandrayaan-2 orbiter which was still orbiting around the moon established a two-way connection with the lander module of Chandrayaan-3 on Monday. Notably, the 'Vikram' lander module of the spacecraft successfully separated from the propulsion module on Thursday, and subsequently underwent crucial deboosting manoeuvres and descended to a slightly lower orbit. The Chandrayaan-3 mission's lander is named after Vikram Sarabhai (1919-1971), who is widely regarded as the father of the Indian space programme. A GSLV Mark 3 (LVM 3) heavy-lift launch vehicle was used for the launch of the spacecraft that was placed in the lunar orbit on August 5 and since then it has been through a series of orbital manoeuvres been lowered closer to the moon's surface. It has been a month and eight days since the <keyword id="116095" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="indian-space-research-organisation" source="Orion">Indian Space Research Organisation</keyword> launched the Chandrayaan-3 mission on July 14. The <keyword id="116095" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="indian-space-research-organisation" source="Orion">Indian Space Research Organisation</keyword> (ISRO) is gearing up for an "extremely challenging" experiment of controlled re-entry of a decommissioned orbiting satellite on Tuesday. The low <keyword id="6359982" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="earth" source="Orion">Earth</keyword> satellite, Megha-Tropiques-1 (MT1), was launched on October 12, 2011, as a joint satellite venture of ISRO and the French space agency, CNES for tropical weather and climate studies. An uninhabited area in the Pacific Ocean between 5°S to 14°S latitude and 119°W to 100°W longitude was identified as the targeted re-entry zone for MT1, weighing about 1000 kg. About 125 kg on-board fuel remained unutilised at its end-of-mission that could pose risks for accidental break-up, an ISRO statement noted. This left-over fuel was estimated to be sufficient to achieve a fully controlled atmospheric re-entry to impact the uninhabited location in the Pacific Ocean. Controlled re-entries involve deorbiting to very low altitudes to ensure impact occurs within a targeted safe zone. Usually, large satellites/rocket bodies, which are likely to survive aero-thermal fragmentation upon re-entry, are made to undergo controlled re-entry to limit ground casualty risk. However, all such satellites are specifically designed to undergo controlled re-entry at <keyword id="336838" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="eol" source="Orion">EOL</keyword>. "MT1 was not designed for EOL operations through controlled re-entry which made the entire exercise extremely challenging", ISRO said. Furthermore, the on-board constraints of the aged satellite, where several systems had lost redundancy and showed degraded performance, and maintaining subsystems under harsher environmental conditions at much lower than originally designed orbital altitude added to the operational complexities. Innovative workarounds were implemented by the operations team based on the study, deliberations, and exchanges among the mission, operations, flight dynamics, aerodynamics, propulsion, controls, navigation, thermal, and other sub-system design teams across the ISRO centres, who worked in synergy to surmount these challenges. Since August 2022, 18 orbit manoeuvres have been performed to progressively lower the orbit. In between the de-orbiting, aero-braking studies at different solar panel orientations were also carried out to gain better insights into the physical process of atmospheric drag affecting the orbital decay of the satellite. The final de-boost strategy has been designed after taking into consideration several constraints, including visibility of the re-entry trace over ground stations, ground impact within the targeted zone, and allowable operating conditions of subsystems, especially the maximum deliverable thrust and the maximum firing duration of the thrusters. The final two de-boost burns followed by the ground impact are expected to take place between 16:30 IST to 19:30 IST on March seven, ISRO said. Aero-thermal simulations show that no large fragments of the satellites are likely to survive the aerothermal heating during the re-entry. Although the mission life of the satellite originally was three years, it continued to provide valuable data services for more than a decade supporting regional and global climate models till 2021, Bengaluru-headquartered national space agency said. UN/IADC (Inter-Agency Space Debris Coordination Committee) space debris mitigation guidelines recommend deorbiting a <keyword id="91911" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="leo" source="Orion">LEO</keyword> (Low Earth Orbit) object at its end-of-life (EOL), preferably through controlled re-entry to a safe impact zone, or by bringing it to an orbit where the orbital lifetime is less than 25 years, according ISRO. It is also recommended to carry out "passivation" of on-board energy sources to minimise the risk of any post-mission accidental break-up. The orbital lifetime of MT1 would have been more than 100 years in its 20 deg inclined operational orbit of 867 km altitude, according to ISRO. "As a responsible space agency committed to safe and sustainable operations in outer space, ISRO proactively takes efforts for better compliance with the UN/IADC space debris mitigation guidelines on post-mission disposal of LEO objects", the statement said. The re-entry experiment of MT1 has been undertaken as a part of the ongoing efforts as this satellite with sufficient left-over fuel presented a unique opportunity to test the relevant methodologies and understand the associated operational nuances of post mission disposal by direct re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere, it was stated. ISRO gears up for 'extremely challenging' experiment of controlled reentry of aged satellite

In the early 20th century, this was one of geology's greatest scientific mysteries and part of the solution lay at the bottom of the ocean. Back then, no one knew what the ocean floor looked like — until one woman used her many talents to find out.When she reflected on her life, geologist Marie Tharp recollected being able to fill in the blanks of the ocean floor, which she saw as a fascinating jigsaw puzzle. She pinpointed mountains, volcanoes, and canyons that lurked <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/how-a-submarine-runs-into-an-underwater-mountain-former-submariner-2021-11">under oceans</a>, much like they do above sea level."It was a once-in-a-lifetime — a once-in-the-history-of-the-world — opportunity for anyone, but especially for a woman in the 1940s," <a href="https://news.climate.columbia.edu/2020/07/24/marie-tharp-connecting-dots/">Tharp wrote</a>.A geologist with Columbia University's Lamont Geological Laboratory (now the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory), Tharp took sheets and sheets of depth readings and turned them into incredible maps. Her maps not only helped her see the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/nasa-drone-submarine-could-hunt-for-sea-life-aliens-2019-2">ocean floor</a> in a whole new way, but they also helped change the way geologists and oceanographers thought about the Earth. <h2>When continental drift was a controversy </h2>When Tharp was still in elementary school, some scientists were tearing apart Alfred Wegener's theory of continental drift.A German meteorologist and astronomer, Wegener first presented his ideas in 1912. Like others, he'd noticed that the continents looked as if they had <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/pangea-split-apart-way-faster-than-we-thought-2016-7">once fit together</a>. Even though oceans separated them, their rock layers matched. "It is just as if we were to refit the torn pieces of a newspaper by matching their edges," <a href="https://global.oup.com/academic/product/the-rejection-of-continental-drift-9780195117332?cc=us&amp;lang=en&amp;" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Wegener wrote</a> in "The Origin of Continents and Oceans."If he was correct, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/fountains-diamonds-erupt-from-ground-when-continents-break-up-study-2023-8">moving continents</a> would explain many puzzling mysteries, like why Australian marsupials were more similar to South American animals than those in closer Asian countries. Wegener's theory gained support, but many US scientists found it implausible. One influential geologist, Bailey Willis, called it a "fairy tale." Instead, Willis stuck with his own theory that there had once been land bridges between the continents that had since sunk. By the time Tharp enrolled in a two-year geology program at the University of Michigan in 1943, her instructors likely didn't advocate for Wegener's theory.There wasn't yet "any satisfactory unifying hypothesis that could explain the main features and processes at the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/animation-shows-earth-surface-components-2020-5">Earth's surface</a>," geologist Bettie Higgs <a href="https://www.lyellcollection.org/doi/10.1144/SP506-2019-248" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote</a> of Tharp's education. <h2>Studying the ocean from land</h2>When Tharp arrived at Columbia University for a job with Maurice Ewing at Lamont, she joined a group of about two dozen men and women on the geophysics team in 1948. The other women were mostly bookkeepers, assistants, or human calculators doing mathematical work.Like many of her male colleagues, Tharp had a graduate degree in geology. But she wasn't allowed on research vessels. Some sailors still believed it was "unlucky" to have a woman aboard unless they were passengers. In 1956, graduate student Roberta Eike lost her fellowship after sneaking aboard a ship in Massachusetts. Tharp didn't sail on a mission until 1968.Instead, Tharp spent much of her time assisting the men with calculations and diagrams. After about three years, she nearly quit. Whether she was overworked or frustrated at working on others' projects instead of her own isn't clear. But when she came back, she embarked on a partnership that changed the trajectory of her career. <h2>Mapping the seafloor</h2>By the early 1950s, echo sounders and precision depth recorders (PDRs) allowed scientists to continuously record seafloor depths, giving them a more complete picture than they'd ever had before.The only problem was they produced loads of data. Bruce Heezen, who started at Lamont around the same time as Tharp, handed it off to her in 1952. There were long rolls of paper containing lines that rose and dipped, depending on how long it took the echo sounders' electronic ping to travel from the seafloor to the ship. <div type="image" title="Peope stand around a large echo sounding machine with a large piece of paper and depth data" height="1499" width="1998" msid="103906895" hostid="261" sizebytes="183040"></div>It was Tharp's job to translate 3,000 feet of paper and undulating lines into a map containing all the data from the various ships. To do so, she had to compile snippets from different trips to get a continuous line from coast to coast. And she had to do that up and down the continents, from Nova Scotia, Massachusetts, France, and the Strait of Gibraltar. The result "looked like a spider's web," <a href="https://news.climate.columbia.edu/2020/07/24/marie-tharp-connecting-dots/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Tharp said</a>, with lines resembling telephone wires spanning the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/atlantic-ocean-widening-geologic-forces-earth-crust-2021-1">Atlantic Ocean</a>. After weeks of looking at the data and plotting the lines, Tharp had noticed a pattern. She had about half a dozen lines running across the ocean, and many had a v-shaped dip in a similar spot, right on top of an underwater mountain chain, the Mid-Atlantic Rift. It looked like a rift. But it couldn't be, Heezen told her, because that would be too much like <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/video-earth-tectonic-plates-billion-years-2021-2">continental drift</a>. He and "almost everyone else at Lamont, and in the United States, thought continental drift was impossible," according to Tharp. It would take Heezen months to accept what he'd dismissed as Tharp's "girl talk."<h2>The ups and downs at the bottom of the sea</h2>In the meantime, Tharp and Heezen decided to use physiographic diagrams to capture what they were seeing in the data. If the echo sounder recorded a large mountain, Tharp would make it appear tall next to shorter mounds. In spots where ships hadn't recorded depth information, Tharp made educated deductions. Shading and closely spaced lines gave an illusion of depth, making pointy peaks and flat sea mounts seem to rise off the page. Amateurs and experts alike could easily get a sense of the underwater topography from Tharp's map. "But we also had an ulterior motive," Tharp wrote. "Detailed contour maps of the ocean floor were classified by the US Navy, so the physiographic diagrams gave us a way to publish our data." Heezen had graduate student Howard Foster placing dots at the latitudes and longitudes of <a href="https://news.climate.columbia.edu/2020/07/24/marie-tharp-connecting-dots/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tens of</a> thousands of earthquake epicenters on another map. When Fosters' map was laid on top of the Tharp's diagram, the quakes snaked along the Mid-Atlantic Ridge where she'd found the rift. <div type="image" title="A map of the world with the mid-ocean ridge highlighted in red" height="619" width="826" msid="103906899" hostid="261" sizebytes="63556"></div>Tharp was then able to use other seismic data to extend the ridge into the Indian Ocean and the East African Rift Valley. What Heezen would later call a "monstrous scar" <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/what-moves-tectonic-plates-2017-1">split the globe</a> into pieces and the theory of continental drift now seemed undeniable. <h2>A geological rift </h2>In 1956, Heezen and Ewing, the head of the Lamont lab, published a paper noting a ridge covering about 40,000 miles of the ocean's floor, without crediting Tharp. Two years later, at the 1959 International Oceanographic Conference, Heezen presented on continental drift and the rift. By this time, other researchers in several fields were accumulating evidence that aligned with Wegener's theory. Proof of Tharp's rift came from an unexpected source. At the conference, underwater explorer Jacques Cousteau showed a video he'd filmed of the rift valley with an underwater camera. <div type="image" title="Jacques Cousteau wears a red hat and steers his boat, Calypso." height="2029" width="2705" msid="103906901" hostid="261" sizebytes="218842"></div>Originally, Cousteau had planned to prove Tharp and Heezen wrong. Instead, the footage "helped a lot of people believe in our rift valley," Tharp said. Over the next decade, scientists in an array of fields contributed to the theory of <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/how-earth-will-look-250-million-years-map-animation-2017-9">plate tectonics</a> with new explanations of everything from <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/fiber-optic-cables-record-underwater-earthquakes-ocean-floor-2019-11">seafloor faults</a> to the formation of the Earth's crust. <h2>Marie Tharp's legacy </h2>Tharp and Heezen continued to collaborate until his death in 1977. Their final project together was the <a href="https://www.lib.uchicago.edu/collex/exhibits/marie-tharp-pioneering-oceanographer/1977-world-ocean-floor-map/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">World Ocean Floor Map</a>. They recruited artist Heinrich Berann, who had worked with them on many maps for National Geographic, to paint it. The map depicts the mid-ocean ridge zigzagging its way around the world. A few years later, she was asked to retire from Lamont. It's not clear why, and Tharp biographer Hali Felt noted that at 63 she wasn't "<a href="https://us.macmillan.com/books/9781466847460/soundings" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the oldest person there by any means</a>."Tharp continued working on her own projects and started a cartography business. She protected and promoted Heezen's legacy, but she also "demanded fair recognition for work that was hers," according to Higgs.Her contributions to oceanography and geology gained recognition with several awards, including the National Geographic Society's Hubbard Medal and the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution's Mary Sears Woman Pioneer in Oceanography Award. In 1997, the Library of Congress included some of Tharp's maps in an exhibition displaying items from Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Edison, and George Washington. Tharp died in 2006. Over 70 years since she watched her colleagues head off in ships she wasn't allowed to sail on, the US Navy announced it was renaming a research vessel in her honor, the USNS Marie Tharp.

Plus Codes are free, open-sourced, digital addresses that provide simple and accurate addresses for any place on Earth, including for places that don't have accurate formal addresses. "We piloted this feature in India a month ago, and are thrilled to share that over 300,000 users in India have already found their home's address using Plus Codes. We are looking forward to expanding to more types of places," Amanda Bishop, Product Manager, <keyword id="97416" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="google-maps" source="Orion">Google Maps</keyword> said in a statement. Since its launch in 2018, Plus Codes have been adopted at scale by NGOs in India and governments as it serves the addressing needs of millions of people. Instead of street and locality names, Plus Codes are based on latitude and longitude and are displayed as a short sequence of numbers and letters, providing accuracy right up to the doorstep, the brand claims. When saving a 'Home' location on Google Maps, users in India will see a new 'Use your current location' that uses their phone's location to generate a Plus Code (if the location precision meets minimum thresholds,) which they can then use as their Home address. There is also a new section at the top of the "Saved" tab to make it easier to retrieve, copy, and share these home addresses. The feature is currently available on Android only, with iOS to follow soon.
