<ul><li>The Hindu mythology is replete with intriguing stories like the one of Ganesh and His Mouse Mushak. </li><li>If you are wondering how He acquired this very unusual ride, read on. </li></ul>The story of the Lord Ganesha’s ride, Mushak is told in Matsya Purana. In the heavens, the abode of the gods; Indra, the king of gods, was holding court. Sages, gandharvas (celestial musicians) and gods were assembled in the court. Indra wanted to assign a mission to Krauncha, who was a gandharva. As Krauncha was summoned by Indra, the gandharva rushed forward from his seat. In the process, he accidentally stamped the foot of Sage Vamadeva. The sage, in a fit of anger, cursed the singer to turn into a rodent and roam aimlessly in the wild. A giant mouse rages on As a result of the curse, Krauncha turned into a colossal mouse, and started destroying crops, vegetation, animals and also went about killing people. The desperate war waged by the giant rodent on anything and everything found on its way had its devastating consequences on the universe. People hoped for a saviour who would protect them from the destruction caused by Mushak. Once, Mushak passed through the hermitage of the Sage Parashar. Lord Ganesha was also camped at the premises and decided to put an end to the atrocities caused by him. The Lord soon gained over him in a fight. After he was subjugated and arrogance was subdued, Mushak surrendered at the feet of Lord Ganesh and begged his pardon. As Ganesh rode on the giant mouse, Mushak could not bear the heavy weight of the Lord. He begged the Lord to show mercy on him by reducing his size. Lord Ganesh mercifully consented and assumed a smaller size. Mushak felt blessed and requested the Lord to appoint him as Ganesha’s royal vehicle. Lord Ganesh granted this boon to Mushak and thus, he became his eternal companion, and his vehicle. Moral of the story <ul><li>Be respectful to elders and remember carelessness may also have serious repercussions. By accidentally stamping Sage Vamadeva’s feet, Krauncha earned the curse. </li><li>Never harm others overtaken by pride; there is always someone more powerful than you in the universe. The arrogant Mushak goes about destroying lives and property, which earned him the wrath of the lord. </li><li>Seeking and earning the service of the Lord is a great blessing. PM Modi shares stage with Sharad Pawar at Tilak award ceremony in Pune

Bengaluru, The South Western Railway (SWR) zone would operate 22 special trains to and from Karnataka from October 23-27 to ferry passengers for Dasara, Diwali and Chhath puja, an official said on Wednesday. "The 22 special trains or 11 pairs are part of 392 (196 pairs) to be run across the country from October 20 to December 3 for Dasara, Diwali and Chhath Puja festivals to enable people travel to their native place or where they want to celebrate with families and friends," a zonal official told IANS here. With regular service suspended since the Covid-induced lockdown on March 25 to contain the virus spread, thousands of people have been unable to travel in the absence of passenger trains across the country. Among the special trains are: Weekly superfast express from Yesvantpur in Bengaluru to Korba in Chhattisgarh from October 23 to November 27 on Friday and from Korba to Yesvantpur from October 25 to November 29 on Sunday. Bi-weekly express from Mysuru to Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh from October 20 to November 26 on Tuesday and Thursday and from Varanasi to Mysuru from October 22 to November 28 on Thursday and Saturday. South Western Railway to operate 22 festival trains to and from Karnataka

Railway Minister <keyword id="6356597" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Suresh-Prabhu">Suresh Prabhu</keyword> today flagged off the first indigenously built '<keyword id="195876" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Medha">Medha</keyword>' rake on the western corridor of the city, according to a <keyword id="6367495" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="PTI">PTI</keyword> news report. 
 "We are proud to have built this rake under the Make in India campaign. We are working on various railway projects worth Rs 51,000 crore for the people of Mumbai city, besides projects worth Rs 1.36 lakh crore are underway for the state of <keyword id="13126" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Maharashtra">Maharashtra</keyword>," <keyword id="19179" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="prabhu">Prabhu</keyword> said in his speech. 
 Two Medha rakes were on a trial mode since last two years and have been designed and built at the <keyword id="49000" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Integral-Coach-Factory">Integral Coach Factory</keyword> in Chennai. 
 The seats of these trains are ergonomically designed for better seating comfort of the passengers. The cost of each Medha rake is Rs 43.23 crore, as against Rs 44.36 crore spent for <keyword id="117791" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bombardier">Bombardier</keyword> rakes. 
 
Prabhu said his ministry was on a "mission mode" to transform the Railways. 
 
"We have chalked out a roadmap to transform the railway and therefore, we have prepared the blueprint of long-term, short-term and medium-term investment to achieve this target. Most importantly, railway authorities have been vested powers to use the fund according to their profile," said Prabhu. 
 During the event, Prabhu also flagged off Lokmanya Tilak Terminus-Tatanagar-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus <keyword id="3260043" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Antyodaya-Express">Antyodaya Express</keyword> (bi-weekly). 
 Having a seating capacity of 2,000, the <keyword id="113158" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Antyodaya">Antyodaya</keyword> Express is meant to be a long-distance, fully unreserved, super-fast train service, which will cover the distance between the two cities in 25 hours. 
 
20-general-coach Antyodaya train has many advanced amenities like water purifiers, fire extinguishers, mobile charging points, anti-theft arrangement, cushioned luggage racks with coat hooks, LED lights and bio-toilets. 
 The regular service will leave <keyword id="426621" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Lokmanya-Tilak-Terminus">Lokmanya Tilak Terminus</keyword> at 1.20 PM every Tuesday and Saturday and enroute the train will halt at Igatpuri, Bhusaval, Nagpur, Gondia, Durg, <keyword id="45327" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Raipur">Raipur</keyword>, Bilaspur, Raigarh, Jharsuguda, Rourkela and Chakradharpur stations. 
 Prabhu also flagged off Miraj- Solapur-Miraj Express daily train through a video link, besides announcing <keyword id="4309574" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="lokmanya-tilak-terminus-lucknow-lokmanya-tilak">Lokmanya Tilak Terminus-Lucknow-Lokmanya Tilak</keyword> Terminus AC Superfast (weekly), which will commence its regular services from April 8, 2017. 
 
He also laid foundation stone for the construction of the fourth line between Bhusaval-Jalgaon a 24-km stretch at an approximate cost of Rs 260 crores. 
 
During the event, Prabhu also inaugurated the mechanised laundry installed at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (coaching depot) having capacity of 13,000 bed rolls per day.

Whether it is Gujarati, Marathi, Telugu, Malayalam, Tamil, or Bangla, every language strengthens Hindi, and Hindi strengthens every language,” he stated. Furthermore, Shah highlighted how the government, under Prime Minister Modi, has made significant strides in promoting both Hindi and regional languages, including new initiatives to incorporate Artificial Intelligence tools for translation. A platform ticket now costs ₹50 instead of the previous rate of ₹10 at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Dadar and Lokmanya Tilak Terminus in Mumbai, and neighbouring <keyword id="37647" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Thane">Thane</keyword>, Kalyan, <keyword id="60623" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Panvel">Panvel</keyword> and Bhiwandi Road stations, CR's chief public relations officer Shivaji Sutar said. The new rate came into force on February 24 and will remain effective till June 15 this year, the official said. "The decision was taken to prevent over-crowding at these stations during the summer travel rush," he said. Since the second week of February, there has been a surge in daily COVID-19 cases in Mumbai. The city has so far reported over 3.25 lakh COVID-19 cases and more than 11,400 deaths due to the disease. Price of platform tickets increased to ₹50 at stations in Mumbai to avoid over crowding

Hyderabad, Nov (IANS) Vaccine maker <keyword id="149108" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bharat-Biotech">Bharat Biotech</keyword> on Monday announced that it has commenced <keyword id="9982277" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="phase-3-trials">Phase-3 trials</keyword> of <keyword id="9485939" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="covaxin">Covaxin</keyword>, India's first indigenous vaccine for <keyword id="8763838" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="covid-19">Covid-19</keyword>. The Phase-3 trials, which involve 26,000 volunteers across India, are being conducted in partnership with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). This is India's first Phase-3 efficacy study for a Covid-19 vaccine, and the largest Phase-3 efficacy trial ever conducted in India, the Hyderabad-based company said. Trial volunteers will receive two intramuscular injections approximately 28 days apart. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive Covaxin or a placebo. The trial is double blinded, such that the investigators, the participants and the company will not be aware of who is assigned to which group. The trials are being conducted at 22 institutes in India including the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), the Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital (both New Delhi), the Aligarh Muslim University, the Grant Government Medical College and Sir J.J. Group of Hospitals, Lokmanya Tilak Municipal General Hospital and Medical College (Sion Hospital) (all three Mumbai), the ICMR-National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases, Kolkata, the Directorate of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, Chennai and King George Hospital, Vizag. Participating volunteers, who undergo vaccination in the Phase-3 trials, will be monitored to detect occurrence of Covid-19. Covaxin has been evaluated in about 1,000 subjects in Phase-1 and Phase-2 clinical trials, with promising safety and immunogenicity data. Volunteers who wish to participate in this trial should be adults over 18 years of age. Covaxin by Bharat Biotech is developed in collaboration with the ICMR - National Institute of Virology (NIV). This indigenous, inactivated vaccine is developed and manufactured in Bharat Biotech's BSL-3 (Bio-Safety Level 3) bio containment facility. Covaxin is a highly purified and inactivated vaccine, manufactured in a vero cell manufacturing platform with an excellent safety track record of more than 300 million doses supplied. "The development and clinical evaluation of Covaxin marks a significant milestone for vaccinology in India, for a novel vaccine. It is important for Indian companies to innovate and develop indigenous vaccines, especially during a pandemic. Covaxin has garnered interest from several countries worldwide for supplies and introduction," said Suchitra Ella, Joint Managing Director of Bharat Biotech.

 Private companies that decide to participate in the redevelopment of <keyword id="6389854" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="railway-stations">railway stations</keyword> will get the adjoining land where they would be able to build malls, hotels and commercial complexes. However, they would have to first <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/new-delhi-railway-station-getting-a-world-class-makeover/articleshow/57234422.cms">modernise the railway station</a> and make it able to provide world-class passenger amenities before the allotment.

Other than the land, investors will also be given space on platforms which they can use for commercial purpose, a senior rail board official told ET. 
 
With this scheme, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/worlds-largest-online-test-conducted-by-indian-railways-to-fill-up-18000-vacancies/articleshow/57084947.cms">Indian Railways</a> plans to redevelop 400 major stations, for which minimum investment of an estimate of Rs 1lakh crore is needed.

The railways is inviting bids for Lokmanya Tilak (T), Pune, Thane, Visakhapatnam, Howrah, Allahabad, Kamakhya, Faridabad, Jammu Tawi, Udaipur City, Secunderabad, Vijayawada, Ranchi, Kozhikode, Yashwantpur, Bangalore Cantonment, Bhopal, Mumbai Central (Main), Borivali and Indore stations.
