The integration of Log 9's 'RapidX' batteries can fully charge Hero Electric 2W within 15 minutes. Log 9 has tested its RapidX batteries through a series of pilots across multiple B2B fleet operators such as Amazon, Shadowfax, Delhivery, Flipkart and BykeMania, etc. "Our InstaCharge batteries on Hero vehicle platform will provide the 'power, performance and peace of mind' for the B2B last-mile delivery sector and will benefit the cause of reducing operational costs as well as lowering emissions," said Dr Akshay Singhal, Founder and CEO, Log 9 Materials. Log9 has leveraged its cell-to-pack competency to develop batteries that provide 9x faster charging, 9x better performance, 9x lower battery degradation, and 9x battery life. Hero Electric and Log 9 will deploy these batteries in the market via outright sales and Battery-as-a-Service (BASS) business models. "Some of the B2B businesses wanted to run the bikes continuously for long hours with a minimal interruption in their delivery operations. It is for such customers that we now offer bikes with the Log9 batteries that can be fast charged while the driver is having his cup of tea," said Sohinder Gill, CEO, Hero Electric. Log9's 'RapidX' batteries are built to operate across -30 to 60 degree celsius and comes with an operational life of more than 10 years. Hero Electric joins Log 9 Materials for 15-minute EV charging infrastructure

Advanced technology battery start-up Log9 Material on Monday said it has raised USD 40 million (nearly Rs 325 crore) in Series B funding led by <keyword id="124764" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="amara-raja-batteries" source="Orion">Amara Raja Batteries</keyword> Ltd and <keyword id="12272190" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="petronas-ventures" source="Orion">Petronas Ventures</keyword>. The round was also participated by other investors, including Incred Financial Services, Unity Small Finance Bank, Oxyzo Financial Services and Western Capital Advisors. "The recent round of investments will allow us to grow our battery manufacturing capabilities to a 2 GWH capacity by the end of 2024," Log9 Material Founder and CEO <keyword id="6381441" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="akshay" source="Orion">Akshay</keyword> Singhal said in a statement. He further said it will also help the company to commission its first fully integrated Lithium Ion Cell production line. "Furthermore, over Rs 100 crore will be invested towards advancements in cell and battery technology stacks," Singhal added. Log9 said it also plans to invest a part of the raised funds into "budding start-ups and organisations that are solving challenges related to charging infrastructure, technology ancillaries and companies fighting climate change at large". Battery start-up Log9 Material raises $40 million Series B funding from Amara Raja, Petronas and others

New Delhi, India's industrial production growth perked up slightly to 5.2 per cent in January from 4.7 per cent in December 2022, mainly due to good performance of the power, mining and manufacturing sectors, according to official data released on Friday. There was an improvement on an annual as well as sequential basis. The factory output growth measured in terms of the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) stood at two per cent in January 2022. As per the IIP data released by the National Statistical Office (NSO), the manufacturing sector's output grew 3.7 per cent in January 2023 from 1.9 per cent a year ago. <keyword id="864464" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="mining-output" source="Orion">Mining output</keyword> rose 8.8 per cent during the month under review compared to 3 per cent in January 2022. Power generation also surged 12.7 per cent in January 2023 against 0.9 per cent in the year-ago month. As per use-based classification, the capital goods segment recorded a growth of 11 per cent in January against a growth of 1.8 per cent in the corresponding month of the last fiscal. Consumer durables output declined by 7.5 per cent compared to a contraction of 4.4 per cent a year ago. Consumer non-durable goods output expanded by 6.2 per cent against a growth of 3.1 per cent earlier. Infrastructure/construction goods too posted a growth of 8.1 per cent compared to a 5.9 per cent expansion in the same month of 2022. The data also showed that the output of primary goods logged 9.6 per cent growth in the month against 1.6 per cent in the year-ago period. The intermediate goods output growth decelerated to 0.1 per cent from 2.5 per cent earlier. For the first 10 months of the current fiscal (April-January), the growth in IIP works out to be 5.4 per cent, down from 13.7 per cent in the year-ago period.

More than nine in 10 Indian consumers, that is about 95 per cent, want an all-in-one platform to get better entertainment experiences, a new report said on Monday. While 72 per cent of consumers in the country said they would pay for an all-in-one platform for their entertainment services, five in six want the option to share their streaming profiles across platforms for better content personalisation, according to the report by <keyword id="6370971" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="accenture" source="Orion">Accenture</keyword>. "With a growing focus on revenue over the content and rising customer dissatisfaction with their media experiences, the streaming industry is at a critical stage of evolution," said <keyword id="5685226" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="saurabh-kumar-sahu" source="Orion">Saurabh Kumar Sahu</keyword>, managing director and lead for Communications, Media and Technology industry group, Accenture in <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword>. "To stay relevant and profitable in an increasingly competitive media landscape, streaming service providers need to reimagine the entertainment ecosystem keeping in mind consumer needs for simplicity, customisation and affordability," he added. Moreover, the report also revealed that around 41 per cent of consumers in India unsubscribed from at least one of the top five streaming video-on-demand services in the last 12 months and 42 per cent said that they plan to remove one or more in the next 12 months. Over six in 10 consumers (62 per cent) in the country reported frustration at finding something to watch. While 77 per cent of users reported feeling overwhelmed by the range of streaming services available, 30 per cent said it takes more than 10 minutes to settle on a streaming choice, said the report. Further, the report mentioned three emerging roles for entertainment companies competing for consumers' time, attention and money are-- audience aggregators, audience cultivators and content merchants. "The shifts in consumer preferences and behaviour point towards the need for aggregation. As value becomes the key determinant of success, media companies need to become more customer-centric using data and analytics," said <keyword id="250493" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="neeraj-sharma" source="Orion">Neeraj Sharma</keyword>, managing director of Communications, Media and Technology, at Accenture in India. "Prior to the pandemic, star presence was a big draw for video streaming content, however in the post-pandemic economy story, treatment and performances have emerged as the real hero," he added. Global online higher education provider <keyword id="2008319" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Upgrad">upGrad</keyword> on Monday became another unicorn from the country, after it announced to close a total of $185 million funding round at a market valuation of $1.2 billion. The company raised fresh funds from Temasek, IFC (International Finance Corporation, a sister organisation of <keyword id="6354424" type="DEFINITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="world-bank">World Bank</keyword>) and IIFL. "We are very focused on our path to being in the top three-five companies globally in edtech and serving the one billion workforce across the age group of 18-60. We are pleased with the investor interest ever since we opened up for a fundraise, and had our maiden raise from Temasek, followed by IFC and IIFL in the last 60 days," said <keyword id="25725" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ronnie-Screwvala">Ronnie Screwvala</keyword>, Chairperson and Co-founder, upGrad. In April, UpGrad had raised $120 million from Temasek, a global investment company headquartered in Singapore. "We will announce further updates on M&amp;As, and unlocking value as they unfold. Yes, the last value was at $1.2 billion but as I keep saying, we are not a fan of the tag name, unicorn. For us, it is only a means to a much larger goal," he said in a statement. Recent reports suggested that company is in advanced talks for a $400 million fundraise at a valuation of $4 billion. upGrad has earmarked $250 million for mergers and acquisitions (M&amp;As) over the next seven-nine months, as it strengthens non-linear growth strategy. upGrad is set to cross $500 million annual revenue run rate by March 2022 and is looking to raise close to $400 million at a $4 billion valuation. upGrad has built out a strong tech platform and deep immersive learning experience with high touch-points to capture close to 70 per cent of the Indian higher education market for working professionals. Earlier this month, upGrad acquired global firm <keyword id="9947964" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="KnowledgeHut">KnowledgeHut</keyword> for an undisclosed sum. Nuvoco, which is one of the largest cement players in east India, is a subsidiary of the Nirma Group, famous for its eponymous detergent brand. Nirma Group entered the cement business in 2014 by acquiring Switzerland based LafargeHolcim in 2016 and NU Vista, formerly known as Emami Cement in 2020. Gujarat-based Nirma Group is a diversified conglomerate that manufactures products ranging from chemicals to detergents, soaps, healthcare products and real estate development. With a strong promoter backing the Nuvoco Vistas grew from a cement based firm to offering various building materials like mixed concrete, cement, wall putty, blocks, plaster, and more. Over the years, Nuvoco Vistas has become the largest cement company in east India in terms of capacity (22.32 million metric tonnes per annum). The company’s cement plants are located in the states of West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand in east India and Rajasthan and Haryana in north India. Adding to it is the fact that the company holds a dominant position in east India with 17% market share in terms of capacity. <div type="image" title="Nuvoco peers" height="900" width="1200" msid="85177110" hostid="261"></div> “The country’s demand growth is likely to be led by east and central regions and will be primarily from affordable housing and infrastructure creation and the cement sector is expected to largely benefit from it. Nuvoco Vistas, being the largest cement company in the east region, is well placed to capitalise on these opportunities...We recommend to subscribe the [sic] issue from a long-term perspective,” said analysts at Investmentz.com. One biggest drawback for the company is its high debt. As of December 31, 2020, its net debt stood at ₹7,259 crore. The company intends to use the proceeds from the fresh issue to pay some of its debt. The cement manufacturer’s valuation is at a discount to its large cap peers as it partially factors high debt and low returns on capital employed (ROCE), said a report by IDBI Capital. “But given [the] up-cycle in the cement industry and expectation of improvement in margin and balance sheet deleveraging over FY21-23 earnings estimate we recommend subscribe,” added the report.
