<ul><li>Several trains came to a halt at the Murshadpur train station in <keyword id="6357713" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Uttar-Pradesh">Uttar Pradesh</keyword> on Friday because the station master was lying unconscious in a drunken stupor.</li><li>According to a disturbing report in the Hindustan Times in April 2017, 15% of the <keyword id="6355455" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="indian-railways">Indian Railways</keyword> train drivers failed the alcohol test at the end of their journey</li><li> In all, 281 train drivers have failed the alcohol tests between 2012 and 2016.</li></ul> Trains delays are so commonplace in India that most remain unphased when they hear about one. And while there are reasons aplenty - most avoidable and some unavoidable - the story about last Friday’s delay was quite something else. A number of trains came to a halt at the Murshadpur train station in Uttar Pradesh because the station master was lying unconscious in a drunken stupor. Around 80 km from Delhi, the Murshadpur station lies on an arterial long-distance train route. It is the station master’s responsibility to give the green signal for the trains to proceed. Needless to say, because of his absence these trains had no choice but to stop and wait for the signal. Unable to reach the missing station master Deep Singh, harried railway officials headed to the station along with a replacement station master only to find him passed out in his office surrounded with empty bottles of alcohol. A senior railway official told the <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/national/no-signal-drunk-station-master-679855.html">Deccan Herald</a> that “Singh was dead drunk and could barely walk”. Sources also told the paper that Singh was later taken to a local hospital where a medical examination revealed a very high level of alcohol in his blood. Railway officials have now suspended Deep Singh and have ordered an investigation. Now, while most may think that surely this bizarre incident is unprecedented, it is in fact one of many. In April 2016, the <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/51666158.cms?utm_source=contentofinterest&amp;utm_medium=text&amp;utm_campaign=cppst">Times of India</a> reported a similar incident where the stationmaster at <keyword id="6355588" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="rajasthan">Rajasthan</keyword>’s Munabao station near the India-Pakistan border was found passed out in his room. In this case, Rajuram Choudhary, the station master, was a repeat offender and had been put on notice thrice earlier for the same reason. And if that were not enough, according to a disturbing report in the <a href="https://www.hindustantimes.com/india-news/drink-driving-major-issue-for-indian-railways-too-fourfold-rise-in-train-drivers-failing-alcohol-test/story-M2USyd8QIJYx9dVlrnp7HK.html">Hindustan Times</a> in April 2017, 15% of the Indian Railways train drivers, also known as loco-pilots, failed the alcohol test at the end of their journey. Which basically means they were ferrying hundreds of passengers in an inebriated state. In all, 281 train drivers have failed the alcohol tests between 2012 and 2016.

The Union <keyword id="6355513" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="cabinet" source="Orion">Cabinet</keyword> on Wednesday approved a four per cent increase in <keyword id="6429991" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="dearness-allowance" source="Orion">Dearness Allowance</keyword> (DA) for Central government employees and Dearness Relief for pensioners. Briefing reporters about the decisions of the union cabinet, Information and Broadcasting Minister <keyword id="6364468" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="anurag-thakur" source="Orion">Anurag Thakur</keyword> said the decision will be implemented from July 1 this year. "Dearness Allowance for Central government employees and Dearness Relief for pensioners has been increased by 4%. The <keyword id="663200" type="General" weightage="60" keywordseo="DA-hike" source="Orion">DA hike</keyword> will be implemented from 1, July 2023," he said. The decision will benefit 48.67 lakh Central Government Employees and 67.95 lakh pensioners. The minister said the decision has come in the festival season and will benefit both the central government employees and pensioners. Generous bonus for railway employees The Cabinet has also granted approval for a Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) that amounts to 78 days wages for eligible non-gazetted Railway employees. This bonus is for the financial year 2022-23 and will benefit a wide array of railway staff, including Track maintainers, Loco Pilots, Train Managers (Guards), Station Masters, Supervisors, Technicians, Technician Helpers, Points man, Ministerial Staff, and other Group 'C' staff, excluding Railway Protection Force (RPF)/ Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF) personnel, read the press release issued by Cabinet. This move comes in recognition of the outstanding performance of the railway employees throughout the financial year 2022-23. The Union Government has sanctioned a PLB totalling Rs 1,968.87 crores, which will be disbursed to approximately 1,107,346 railway employees, read the press release. (This copy will be updated)

Dearness allowance of central government employees hiked by 4%

Gundlach agreed that interest rates were partly responsible for the market sell-off. He said on Thursday that rates were likely to head higher."If you look at the charts and the way the market is behaving, and you think about the trends that are underneath the bond market, it wouldn't be surprising at all to see the 30-year go to 4% before this move of the breakout above 3.25 is over," he said."And the curve should probably steepen. Almost every day, he livestreams the gorgeous landscape to thousands of viewers on <keyword id="1754577" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Twitch">Twitch</keyword>. The 45-year-old television star, content creator, rapper, influencer, and comedian has managed to keep his career alive for nearly two decades after he went viral pre-YouTube. Listing his accomplishments sounds a bit like you created a career with a random generator: he achieved mainstream success on <keyword id="8959" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="MTV">MTV</keyword> with "The Andy Milonakis Show," voiced a microwave in a children's television show, started a rap group with actor Simon Rex, and pioneered real-world live-streaming on Twitch.Insider spoke to Milonakis about his career, how he got his start live <keyword id="572624" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Streaming">streaming</keyword> on Twitch and what he hopes he can achieve in this next phase of his career.<h2>Milonakis was the first viral star to get his own television show </h2>Milonakis was born in 1976 in Katonah, New York with a congenital growth hormone deficiency that gives him the appearance and voice of an adolescent. After high school he moved to Queens in the late 90s and dabbled in the world of comedy, taking improv and writing classes at the Upright Citizens Brigade theater while working in tech support at an accounting firm as a day job.In the late 90s, he was an early participant in internet comedy with his "child actor" website, where he posted photos of himself "making really weird faces" and wrote with "really bad grammar that's misspelled on purpose to just make me seem totally out of my mind.""Back then, nobody succeeded making comedy on the internet, it wasn't even a thing," Milonakis said.Brian Lynch, the future screenwriter of "Minions" and "Hop" invited him to be a part of his website AngryNakedPat.com in "1999 or 2000" Milonakis recalls. By the early 2000s, before YouTube was founded, Milonakis had posted over 100 videos on the site. In 2003, he was debating giving up on the videos because they weren't getting many views] but he felt the sudden urge to purchase a plastic ukulele from a lady selling them from a shopping cart. "My friends invited me to a Superbowl game and I just, I didn't really like sports. So I was like, I'm going to make a video about it," Milonakis recalls.Filmed on a grainy webcam, Milonakis changed his life trajectory after he posted his breakout viral hit, <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yd2SYT4L7xQ">"The Superbowl is Gay."</a> The three-minute clip of Milonakis calling everything from DVDs to McDonald's "gay," outdated and somewhat offensive humor by today's standards, went viral at the time. Radio stations across the country contacted Milonakis for interviews.One of those original viewers was Jimmy Kimmel, who had started hosting his Jimmy Kimmel Live show and found an affinity for the comedic actor. Over the next couple of years, Milonakis would make guest appearances on the talk show, with Kimmel saying in a 2005 <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/08/10/AR2005081002371_2.html">Washington Post article</a> that "his comedy is something that probably would have been around a long time ago if kids had access to video cameras and editing machines and the Internet."Kimmel's endorsement led directly to MTV, according to Milonakis. An executive had been badgering Kimmel for a television show to pitch, which started as scrounged together clips from the web and Jimmy Kimmel Live. With the talk show host spearheading the pitching process, it led to a pilot, which was one of 20 vying for a spot to be made into a television show. Milonakis' show eventually won out. The Andy Milonakis Show premiered on MTV in 2005 and ran for three seasons. The show was an absurdist, surrealist nightmare that used random people as actors. Man on the street segments where he plays up his childish persona are intertwined with celebrity appearances from early aught icons like Hillary Duff and Lil Jon. The show was a massive success and turned Milonakis into a traditional celebrity. Over the next two decades he made appearances or lent his voice to shows like Adventure Time, The Kroll Show, and Crank Yankers. But ultimately the world of TV wouldn't be where he made his biggest and longest impact. He appeared on Snoop Dogg's internet news show, hosted his own YouTube cooking show called "Andy's Hungry Voyage," and had a fairly successful rap career.Milonakis' YouTube channel has half a million subscribers and has pulled in over 100 million views since it was created in 2006. <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5LM5I98lZg">"G L O G A N G,"</a> his 2015 music video featuring Chief Keef has over five million views and his group Three Loco with Riff Raff and actor Simon Rex has over 10 million views across their dozen or so videos from 2012. <h2>Andy joined Twitch and pioneered the world of IRL streaming</h2>In 2016, Milonakis started to gain renewed attention with his Twitch streams. After initially streaming PS4 and PC games, Milonakis turned to "Pokemon Go," the highly successful mobile game where users capture Pokemon by exploring the real world.On that first stream, Milonakis recalls, he went from "a couple hundred viewers to 1,200." Over the next year, he'd gain <a href="https://twitchtracker.com/andymilonakis">200,000 followers</a>, who watched him order tacos, walk around Los Angeles, and hang out with other streamers. Milonakis quickly fell into a crew of influencers who streamed on Twitch's "IRL" section, who frequently did outrageous stunts for clicks. "I would walk up and down Hollywood Boulevard with like the craziest people, the weirdest drunks," Milonakis said. "I would be drunk, like making out with chicks and like just doing stupid sh--."Several members of Milonakis' crew found themselves in hot water. One was <a href="https://www.vice.com/en/article/ezyyp4/twitch-streamer-gets-swatted-off-a-plane">banned from Twitch after police were called on him without cause while he was on an airplane.</a> Another was <a href="https://www.dexerto.com/entertainment/youtube-hampton-brandon-arrested-irl-livestreaming-again-507753/">arrested live on stream in 2019. </a>"At the time, it seemed fine I guess, but looking back it sounds like hell," Milonakis said. "And then once I wizened up, I was like, 'Oh, man. Why do I just have to be here? I can be traveling.'"In June of 2017, Milonakis met up with streamer <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZsQpMlm7mc">EXBC in South Korea</a> and fell in love with the idea of IRL streaming while traveling, which led him to<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xU1PK_sz6w0"> Japan</a> and <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PlVfRujdau8">Greece.</a> Until the pandemic hit in 2020, Milonakis was traveling as much as he could, streaming to thousands in the process. "I really do love the ability to be my own boss and fly all over the world and stream it live," Milonakis said. <h2>Milonakis says he regrets a lot</h2>Milonakis has been making videos online for 20 years and regrets a large amount of time where he said he worked at "10% capacity," he said. "I don't want to live my life where I just constantly am a workaholic and I don't enjoy life, but I feel like I could've given it a lot more," Milonakis said. "I'm not beating myself up over it, but it could have been pretty dope to work harder during those years."Milonakis has no plans of slowing down. His idol is Anthony Bourdain and hopes to one day create a show with his unique brand of humor, spitballing the idea of going to the best "sushi place in Japan and taking the food very seriously" but then dress up "as a ball of rice doing a rap video." "I think a lot of people write me off as that stupid, weird kid, which I am in a lot of ways, but I feel like I have more to offer," Milonakis said. "I feel like when people kind of judge me and look at me in a weird way, I feel like I have my head on my shoulders and I feel like I'm very socially aware. I know how to talk to people and know how to treat people. And when I do really weird, crazy shit, I feel like people don't expect that of me."

Early internet star turned celebrity Andy Milonakis revolutionized live streaming and virality, but he still has regrets

<keyword id="6355455" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Indian-Railways">Indian Railways</keyword> is conducting the world's "largest" online examination to fill up over 18,000 vacancies in various categories. A whopping 92 lakh candidates had applied for the jobs, of whom 2.73 lakh qualified the preliminary exam and were called for written test on January 17¬19, said a senior <keyword id="54441" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Railway-ministry">Railway Ministry</keyword> official. 
 The online examination is being undertaken by the <keyword id="164904" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Railway-Recruitment-Boards">Railway Recruitment Boards</keyword> to fill up 18,252 graduate ¬level Group¬3 posts, including assistant station master, goods guard, inquiry-¬cum-reservation clerk, traffic and commercial apprentices and junior accounts assistant. 
 
Earlier, recruitment examinations used to be conducted manually, but the railways had to abandon the manual system and opt for online mode after a few alleged incidents of question paper leak. Describing it as the "largest online examination in the world", the official said that in order to ensure complete transparency, the railways has introduced the system of showing answer papers online to examinees one week after the examination. "We have shown the examinees the answers given by them and the correct answers of the questions. We had also given them opportunities to raise objections, if any, till January 30," he said. The next stage for selection is the psychological tests for assistant station masters and typing test for senior clerks and the appointment letters are expected to be given to successful candidates by May this year. 
 
At present, there are about 2 lakh vacancies in the railways which has about 13 lakh employees. However, all the vacancies will not be filled up as many posts are being frozen at the moment, he said. The railways will begin next recruitment drive for about 20,000 vacancies, including in the posts of assistant loco pilots and technical supervisor, in the next phase.

Last year, the firm expanded into mortgage securitizations. "It was the perfect time to raise this money," Rahbar said in an interview. "The one thing we always had to prove to the investor community was the applicability of what we're doing beyond online lending. Last year we broke into mortgages, so now it's time to fuel our growth." Rahbar will use the fresh funds to hire people, integrate more third-party data providers and push deeper into the mortgage market. It also plans to add about 30 people this year to its existing staff of 60. The firm piloted the role on a <a href="https://dv01.co/resources/introducing-dv01s-loan-data-agent-the-first-step-to-more-transparent-securitization">2016 bond deal underwritten by Jefferies and made up of LendingClub loans</a>, and it has since expanded the model to over 100 deals. The mortgage market expansion will see dv01 provide more data and analysis on private-label mortgage securitizations, including adding capabilities for <keyword id="46801" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="prime">prime</keyword> jumbo loans, or those that are made to creditworthy borrowers but too large to be sold to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Other consumer asset classes may be next. "Think of us as a data hub for the capital markets," Rahbar said. "We want to own the desktop for structured finance." The F-35 and F-22 share a smooth, sloped look.It's likely Russia doesn't have the machining technology to produce such a surface. The actual nose of the Su-57 looks bolted on with noticeable rivets.&#xa0;Finally, take a look at the underside of the Su-57 - it has rivets and sharp edges everywhere. "If nothing else convinces that no effort at [stealth] was attempted, this is the clincher," said the scientist.&#xa0;<h2>Russia didn't even try at stealth, but that's not their purpose</h2><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div></div></div>As the scientist pointed out, Russia didn't even appear to seriously try to make a stealth aircraft. The Su-57 takes certain measures, like storing weapons internally, that improve the stealth, but it's leaps and bounds from a US or even Chinese effort.This highlights the true purpose of Russia's new fighter - not to evade radar itself, but to kill US stealth jets like the F-35 and F-22.&#xa0;The Su-57 will feature side mounted radars along its nose, an infrared search and track radar up front, and additional radars in front and back, as well as on the wings.&#xa0;As <a href="http://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/20434/no-the-su-57-isnt-junk-six-features-we-like-on-russias-new-fighter" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Drive's Tyler Rogoway points out</a>, the side-mounted radars on the Su-57 allow it to excel at a tactic called "beaming" that can trick the radars on US stealth jets. And while there are numerous examples of how the railways is trying to spruce things up a bit and get their act together, fact is, apart from the relatively lighter changes like placing <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/indian-railways-is-going-to-live-stream-its-kitchens-to-the-world-to-ensure-transparency/articleshow/64600841.cms">cameras in kitchens</a> and acquiring <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/blankets-provided-on-trains-by-indian-railways-will-soon-be-fresher-and-cleaner/articleshow/64764828.cms">blankets</a> that can be washed twice a month, the railways is engaged in some heavy duty changes that are geared towards safety, convenience and basic timeliness of the <keyword id="6360847" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="trains">trains</keyword>. According to a report by the <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/industry/transportation/railways/how-aging-creaking-crumbling-railways-is-getting-a-new-life/articleshow/64852991.cms">Economic Times</a>, here are ten key changes the Indian Railways is currently indulging in. <ol><li>Eliminating unmanned railway crossings: A little over two months after the unfortunate <a href="https://www.news18.com/news/india/kushinagar-accident-14-children-killed-as-train-hits-school-bus-at-railway-crossing-1729955.html">Kushinagar train accident</a> when a train rammed into a school van killing 14 children at an unmanned railway crossing (UMLC), the railways is aggressively working on eliminating all unmanned railway crossings. To achieve this it has given itself a deadline of 31 March 2020. In fact, the railways has already <a href="https://indianexpress.com/article/india/railways-eliminates-all-unmanned-level-crossings-from-4-zones-5239251/">eliminated</a> all UMLCs in four zones on <keyword id="409555" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="broad-gauge">broad gauge</keyword> routes in July — West Central Railway, Central Railway, Eastern Railway and South East Central Railway — and is well on its way to eliminating unmanned level crossings in 11 zones by September 2018. <div type="image" title="pexels-photo-892541." tempid="406286" msid="64859688" hostid="261"></div>

 </li><li>Giving old, worn-out tracks an upgrade: A <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/586-train-accidents-in-last-5-years-53-due-to-derailments/articleshow/60141578.cms">Times of India</a> report in October 2017 claimed that almost 53% of the 586 train accidents in the last five years were due to derailments. And ageing and/or defective railways tracks is one of the primary causes of derailments. Therefore, the railways has boosted its efforts to replace its ageing tracks and repair defective ones. In fact, the railways claim that there is a 50% increase in rail track renewal from 2,926 kilometres in 2013-14 to 4,405 kilometres in 2017-18. </li><li>Construction of foot-over-bridges: In September 2017, a stampede at <keyword id="6358070" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="mumbai">Mumbai</keyword>’s Elphinstone Railway Station foot-over-bridge claimed 22 lives. The cause of the stampede is not clear but it is quite apparent that the bridge was too narrow and clearly not sufficient to handle the daily footfall of the station. In fact, a <a href="http://www.newindianexpress.com/nation/2017/sep/29/mumbai-elphinstone-station-stampede-railways-ignored-warning-that-its-foot-over-bridges-are-narrow-1664659.html">CAG report in 2006</a> had flagged that the railways had reduced the width of the bridges and stated that foot-over-bridges should be at least 6 m width at all suburban railway platforms. However, now the railways claims that they have managed to up its game and has constructed 74 bridges per year between 2014-18 which is a 221% jump from 23 per year during 2009-14. </li><li>Device to guide train drivers through fog: Come winters, rail travel becomes a massive nightmare. Lack of visibility thanks to extreme fog inevitably leads to delays and accidents. But in December 2017, the national transporter installed <a href="http://www.newindianexpress.com/nation/2017/dec/12/indian-railways-to-use-gps-enabled-devices-to-fight-fog-this-season-1725490.html">4,920 GPS-enabled FOG PASS devices</a> to help loco pilots navigate through the fog. The gadget displays a map of tracks, signals, stations and level crossings and alerts drivers of approaching signals 500 meters ahead, which in turn helps the driver increase or decrease the speed of the train. Believe it or not, before these devices, the common practice to alert drivers was to tie <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Railways-tie-crackers-to-beat-fog/articleshow/45526196.cms">crackers</a> to the tracks.

Waterlogging not only on roads but also on railway tracks lead to delays and brings cities like Mumbai to a standstill. However, the Indian Railways plans to remedy the issue by introducing waterproof locomotive engines to basically tow stranded trains that. Four inches of water can bring a standard train engine to a standstill, however, these <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/industry/transportation/railways/take-a-look-at-indian-railways-waterproof-engine-than-can-haul-rakes-stranded-in-rains/saviour-engine/slideshow/64573538.cms">new engines</a> are equipped to operate in 12 inches of water. </li><li>Measure to make purchasing tickets easier: To nudge people towards a cashless system, the national transporter has installed 9,100 point of sale (POS) machines at about 4,000 locations including rail ticket counters. </li><li>Station facelift: The railways plans to spruce up major railway stations big time. The revamped stations will ape modern airports and will therefore include modern facilities like escalators, lifts, subways, ramps, AC VIP lounge, AC waiting room and rest rooms and shopping malls. Apart from this, the stations will will be beautified with local artworks.</li><li>Cleanliness: In order to implement the Swachh Railways mission, the railways has introduced mechanised cleaning system at 488 stations and has started using an automatic rail-mounted machine to keep its tracks at platforms clean. And to keep a check on freelance housekeeping contractors, passengers will be asked to rate the cleanliness based on which the contractor will be paid.</li><li>Increasing rail connectivity: The Prime Minister’s ‘Act East Policy’ has given a much-required boost to the infrastructural development in northeast India. The first priority was to convert the entire North East rail network to a broad gauge system which it aims to do by 2020.</li></ol>
