A survey on <keyword id="6362363" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="health-insurance" source="Orion">health insurance</keyword> facilities in the country has disclosed that nearly 62 per cent health insurance <keyword id="324609" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="POLICY-HOLDERS" source="Orion">policy holders</keyword> surveyed saw their premiums increase by 25 per cent or more in 2022. The survey conducted by community platform <keyword id="2795031" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="local-circles" source="Orion">Local Circles</keyword> disclosed that of the 62 per cent, 38 per cent of them saw their premiums increase by 50 per cent. The increases came on the back of a significant increase in premiums in 2021. As per the survey, nearly 38 per cent out of the nearly 10,000 respondents to the question on "how much has your annual insurance increased in the last 12 months," said they had paid 50 per cent or more, while 24 per cent citizens had paid 25 per cent - 50 per cent higher <keyword id="47469" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="premium" source="Orion">premium</keyword>s and 11 per cent had seen their health insurance premium go up by 10 per cent -25 per cent, another 9 per cent paid 0 per cent - 10 per cent higher premium. Only 18 per cent, either did not have to shell out more or witnessed a dip in insurance premium or were unaware as their employer is taking care of it. From the response to the Local Circles survey this year compared to that done in August 2021 it is very clear that the magnitude of the increase in premium has caught many unaware. Last year while the percentage of respondents who experienced an increase of over 25 per cent in health insurance premiums was 34 per cent, this year that number has jumped to 62 per cent. Overall, an average Indian, after experiencing a 10 per cent increase in 2021 is now experiencing an average increase of 25 per cent. Many senior citizens with independent policies are reporting a much higher increase of over 50 per cent which is putting a squeeze on their retirement finances at a time when costs of most products like fuel, essentials are all rising. Per external estimates as well, post the Covid pandemic, health insurance premiums have increased anywhere between 10-25 per cent for a number of reasons cited by insurance providers including high payouts during the last two years. After thousands of posts and comments were received pertaining to the sizable increase in health insurance premiums by <keyword id="6379818" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="localcircles" source="Orion">LocalCircles</keyword>, it decided to conduct a national survey to quantify the pain of citizens and to understand the increase in health insurance premiums at an aggregate level. The study which collected over 20,000 responses in two periods of August 2021 and August 2022 from citizens located in 287 districts of <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword> asked people about the increase in health insurance premiums they experienced. Nearly 62% health insurance policy holders surveyed saw their premiums increase

<ul><li>One in three people are planning to watch a movie in the cinema hall or <keyword id="6403273" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Multiplex" source="Orion">multiplex</keyword> in the next 60 days. </li><li>26% of respondents had been to a cinema hall or multiplex in the last 60 days i.e. the months of November and December. </li><li>17% of the respondents indicated that they no longer watch movies in multiplexes or <keyword id="6584707" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="cinema-halls" source="Orion">cinema halls</keyword>. </li></ul>With Shah Rukh Khan starrer Pathaan <a href="https://twitter.com/taran_adarsh/status/1617554191739940864">recording </a>advance bookings of over 3 lakh tickets, the cinema theaters look ready to declare housefull shows again. And, it might just be the start of better times. As per a survey conducted by LocalCircles, 34% of the respondents (one in three people) are planning to watch a movie in the cinema hall or multiplex in the next 60 days. LocalCircles, which has regularly conducted the ‘Citizen pulse on Cinema Halls’ survey since October 2020 to understand expected footfalls during the pandemic and thereafter, reported that the percentage of citizens likely to visit a cinema hall/ multiplex has increased by 150% in the last year. There has also been an increase from December 2021 in the number of people planning to visit the cinemas at least once, and those planning to visit the cinemas multiple times. “The data comparison shows that as against 2% of respondents who indicated plans to go multiple times in December 2021, the percentage has risen to 6%. In the next category of those planning to visit once, the difference is much bigger at 28% in Jan 2023 as against 12% in December 2021,” added LocalCircles. Around 75 % of <keyword id="20593458" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="UPI-users" source="keywords">UPI users</keyword> will stop using it if any transaction charge is levied on the service, a survey by LocalCircles said today. The survey found that 38% of users make over 50% of their payment transactions via <keyword id="19900911" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="UPI" source="keywords">UPI</keyword> instead of debit, credit, or any other form of digital transaction. "Only 22 % UPI users surveyed are willing to bear a <keyword id="20813527" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="transaction-fee" source="keywords">transaction fee</keyword> on payments, 75% of respondents stated that they will stop using UPI if a transaction fee is introduced," the survey said. The survey comprising three broad areas, claims to have received 42,000 responses from 308 districts but the number of replies on each question varied. The questions regarding transaction fee on UPI received 15,598 responses. The <keyword id="19907219" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="National-Payments-Corporation-of-India" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="National Payments Corporation of India" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="National Payments Corporation of India">National Payments Corporation of India</keyword> (NPCI) posted a record 57% rise in the volume of transactions and 44% rise in value in the 2023-24 fiscal year, compared to the previous fiscal year. For the first time UPI transactions crossed 100 billion and closed at 131 billion in a financial year, compared to 84 billion in 2022-23. In value terms, it touched Rs 199.89 trillion, compared to Rs 139.1 trillion, the report said. The survey found 37 % of respondents shared UPI transaction accounts for more than 50 % of their total payment in value terms. "With UPI rapidly becoming an integral part of nearly 4 in 10 consumers, there is strong resistance to any kind of direct or indirect transaction charges being imposed. With close to 400 districts with 1,000 total cases, Covid-19 is fast spreading into tier 3, 4 towns and rural India. In the LocalCircles survey in late July, 31 per cent citizens said that they had one or more Covid-19 positive cases in their social network. As the Government decides on whether <keyword id="37180" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="schools">schools</keyword> should be reopened for senior classes, LocalCircles asked parents that if the Government does go ahead and announces opening of schools from September 1 for senior classes and others thereafter, will they be sending their children/grandchildren to school. To this, 62 per cent outright siad 'no', while only 23 per cent answered 'yes'. Around 15 per cent parents were undecided. Given the fact that the Covid situation is not improving and numbers are only rising, the number of "aye" sayers has now reduced from 33 per cent to 23 per cent within 2 weeks. This indicates that even if schools were opened in regular manner, a large majority of parents will refrain from sending children to school and continue with online education instead. Case studies from many countries, including the US where 97,000 children came down with Covid-19 within 2 weeks of school reopening; and also in Berlin, Germany, where 41 schools reported children or teachers getting infected last week. All of these are causing concerns amongst Indian parents. Most parents are of the view that India shouldn't even consider reopening schools in regular mode till December 31 and instead the focus of Central and State Governments should be on equipping schools for online education, television or radio-based classes directly or in alliance with industry through the CSR programs. LocalCircles conducted a survey to understand what citizens feel about opening of multiplex and movie theaters, metro or local trains and most importantly, schools. The survey received over 25,000 responses from citizens residing in 261 districts of India. Citizens were asked if the government decides to restart metro/local trains from September 1, will they be taking them in the next 60 days. A total of 36 per cent answered 'yes' while 51 per cent answered 'no'; 13 per cent were unsure about it. After opening restaurants, gyms and malls, the Government is considering reopening multiplexes and movie theaters in the next phase of 'unlock' guidelines, slated to be issued by August-end. Citizens have continuously been opposing the reopening of movie halls as they could lead to an increase in spread of Covid-19. The survey asked if the Government opens multiplexes and movie theatres from September 1, will they go to watch movies in the next 60 days. Three per cent said they will go many times while 3 per cent said they will go once or twice. It was a whopping 77 per cent who said will not go to movie halls at all to keep themselves safe, while 14 per cent said they don't go to movie theatres anyways to watch movies. The comparison with last month's survey shows that citizens favouring opening of multiplexes and movie theatres is not increasing like in the case of metro and local trains. An increased number of people are not in favour of reopening theatres and multiplexes. It is a 77 per cent of citizens in August compared to 72 per cent in July, who have said they will not visit multiplexes or movie theatres in the next 60 days. More than half the parents will not send their children to school even if they reopen, says survey

About 32 per cent mobile service subscribers do not have coverage for the majority of their day despite paying for 4G/5G services and 69 per cent of those surveyed are facing call connection and drop issues daily, a report has said. Only 26 per cent of mobile services subscribers said their home has good voice coverage for all the existing operators while 5 per cent said their workplace has good voice coverage for all the three operators, according to <keyword id="6379818" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="localcircles" source="Orion">LocalCircles</keyword>. About 20 per cent subscribers face connectivity issues for over 50 per cent of their voice calls. The <keyword id="30356" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="telecom-regulatory-authority-of-india" source="Orion">Telecom Regulatory Authority of India</keyword> (<keyword id="6356988" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="trai" source="Orion">TRAI</keyword>) had called a meeting with mobile phone operators on February 17 to discuss the quality of wireline and wireless services.
