Jaipur, Dec 4 () A six-member team from Maharashtra will be visiting Jaipur to study the state government's farm loan waiver scheme, a senior official said.
 The Maharashtra government has also decided to waive loans of farmers on the lines of Rajasthan, state cooperatives registrar Neeraj K. Pawan said.
 Pawan further noted that Cooperatives Principal Secretary of Maharashtra, Abha Shukla, Principal Secretary, Information Technology SVR Srinivas, Agriculture Secretary, Eknath Dawale will be part of the six-member study team, who will be in Jaipur on December 5.
 The team would study the loan waiver scheme implemented in the state for effective and transparent implementation.
 The Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress alliance government led by Uddhav Thackeray in its common minimum programme has promised to waive loans of farmers. 
 Managing Director of the Apex Bank Inder Singh said Rajasthan has waived crop loans of about Rs 8,000 crore as on November 30, 2018 which benefited 20.30 lakh farmers. The present state government has provided loan waiver of Rs 15,000 crore through the scheme in the year 2018 and 2019.
 He said Rajasthan has decided to waive loans of Rs 2 lakh of financially troubled marginal and small farmers taken from Central Cooperative Banks and Bhumi Vikas Bank as of November 30, 2018.

Maharashtra team to study Rajasthan farm loan waiver scheme

Jaipur, Feb 3 () More than 8 lakh new farmers have been linked with online crop loan system to disburse cooperative crop loans in last one year in Rajasthan. 
 Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had given instructions to end discrimination in cooperative crop loan disbursement and to adopt uniform and transparent system and link new farmers so that they can get crop loans on zero per cent interest and get free from the clutches of moneylenders.
 Implementing the policy, the Apex Cooperative Bank had launched online crop loan disbursement and registration scheme-2019 under which crop loans were disbursed to eligible farmers based on their biometric verification, Department of Cooperatives said in a statement. 
 So far, more than 21 lakh farmers have been linked to cooperative crop loan in the state, including 8 lakh new farmers, and they have got crop loan of more than 8,244 crore, it said. 
 According to the statement, 13 lakh old farmers were also linked with the new crop loan system. 
 More than 25 lakh farmers have applied for crop loan till date in the state. Of these, 21.20 lakh farmers were disbursed loans of Rs 4,583 crore in Kharif season and Rs 3,661 crore in Rabi season. 
 Approximately 7 lakh new farmers have also been disbursed crop loans, while the remaining farmers will be disbursed loans by March 31, 2020.
 Under the Rajasthan Farmer Loan Waiver Scheme, loans of eligible farmers were waived through biometric verification. 
 Rajasthan government has waived farm loans of Rs 15,000 crore in 2018 and 2019. Approximately Rs 8,000 crore of loans of around 20 lakh farmers were waived under the scheme in 2019, it said. AG

But since the process was not previously automated, only a small proportion of eligible service members were able to access the benefit, with only about 4,800 of them getting relief in 2019.Along with waived interest, service members also qualify for full student-debt relief under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program, which forgives student debt for public servants after 120 monthly qualifying payments. But not only is this program flawed, <a href="https://studentaid.gov/data-center/student/loan-forgiveness/pslf-data">rejecting 98%</a> of applicants, if a service member is deployed and puts payments on pause, that time doesn't count toward loan forgiveness, extending the period they have to keep paying.And according to a Government Accountability Office <a href="https://www.gao.gov/products/gao-21-65">report</a>, as of January 2020, 287 Dept. of Defense personnel received loan forgiveness, while 5,180, or 94% of DOD borrowers, were denied.In April, Republican Sen. Women borrowers will get a <keyword id="44979" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="concession">concession</keyword> of 5 bps, it said. "With an aim to offer attractive concessions to the home buyers, country's largest lender SBI announces further interest concession of up to 30 bps on home loans and 100 per cent waiver on processing fees," the release said. The bank said interest concession of up to 30 bps is also available in eight metro cities for loans up to Rs 5 crore. Customers can also apply from the ease of their home via <keyword id="6961637" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="yono-app">YONO App</keyword> and get additional interest concession of 5 bps, the release said. "We are pleased to improve our concessions to prospective home loan customers up to March 2021," the bank's managing director (retail and digital banking), C S Setty, said. New Delhi, Apr 25 () Current and retired employees of BSNL have opposed the government's decision to freeze dearness allowance (DA) for 18 months, starting January 1, 2020. All India BSNL-DOT Pensioners Association (AIBDPA), representing more than one lakh of pensioners retired from Department of Telecom and BSNL, on Saturday said that their members have already contributed to the Prime Minister and Chief Minister's relief funds according to their ability and deduction will put pensioners to extreme difficulty. The BSNL Employees' Union (BSNL EU) called the move a retrograde action and a "big attack on the livelihood of the central government employees and pensioners" while denouncing the action of the government.Both bodies alleged the government of favouring corporates by way of giving loan waivers, tax rebates, etc and questioned the decision of DA freeze which adversely impacts many low income employees."Government has waived bad loans worth Rs 5.5 lakh crore. An overwhelming portion of these bad loans were defaulted by the big corporates. By waiving the bad loans so massively, the government had only facilitated the big corporates to loot people's money. In view of the foregoing, BSNL EU wishes to state that the DA freeze imposed on the central government employees and pensioners is most unjustified," BSNL EU said.AIBDPA said that the government-run BSNL has stopped medical allowance and reimbursement of medical treatment expenses for the last two years on the plea of lack of funds and the pensioners are dependent upon their meagre pension. "Many of these pensioners draw minimum pension which is insufficient even for day to day expenses. It is at this crucial time that the decision to freeze DR (dearness relief) for 18 months has been issued. This amount will increase according to the increase in pension which will put the pensioners to extreme difficulty," the retired employees' body said. If this is the case, the DOE will notify eligible veterans that they qualify for a student loan discharge, and if veterans believe they qualify but were never contacted, they can submit an application with information from the VA proving their disability status.<h1>Social Security benefits</h1>Borrowers who receive Social Security Disability Insurance or Supplemental Security Income benefits may also be eligible for student loan forgiveness. The DOE will contact borrowers who have a scheduled disability review between five and seven years from the date of their most recent SSA disability determination, and borrowers will not have to submit any documentation on their own.If borrowers receive SSDI or SSI benefits but were not contacted by the DOE, they can apply and provide documentation of the benefits they receive.<h1>Diagnosis from a physician</h1>The final way to receive student loan forgiveness is via proof of a licensed physician. "The program has been beset by numerous 'donut holes' that disqualify certain types of loans, repayment plans and the payments themselves, leading to extraordinary confusion and distrust of the PSLF program and, by extension, the federal government."The lawmakers urged Cardona to waive barriers in PSLF, including to:<ul><li>Expand the definition of an "eligible loan" to include all federal student loans;</li><li>Make all repayment plans eligible for PSLF;</li><li>Waive the restriction that requires a borrower to be in public service at the time of loan forgiveness;</li><li>And establish data-sharing agreements with the Dept. of Defense and Office of Personnel management to automatically identify public service workers with outstanding <keyword id="1737245" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Student-Debt">student debt</keyword>.</li></ul>The letter also called for extensive communication from the Education Department to borrowers to ensure they are aware of any changes that might impact loan forgiveness.In past weeks, lawmakers from both parties have introduced legislation to reform the PSLF program. Sen.
