Professional social networking platform <keyword id="28120" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="linkedin" source="Orion">LinkedIn</keyword> has introduced its identity verification feature for Indian users. "Having an ID verification means that the individual's government-issued ID is verified by one of LinkedIn's verification partners," Ashutosh Gupta, Country Manager at <keyword id="278010" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="linkedin-india" source="Orion">LinkedIn India</keyword>, said in a blogpost on Wednesday. In <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword>, HyperVerge, a third-party identity verification service which uses DigiLocker -- an online wallet for Indian government-issued IDs like the <keyword id="6356006" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="aadhaar-card" source="Orion">Aadhaar Card</keyword> -- handles ID verification. The ID verification is available for users with a valid Aadhaar number and an Indian phone number. "On LinkedIn, when you show that you're the real you, you'll have an even greater chance of finding the professional opportunities that matter to you and your community," Gupta said. He further mentioned that the platform does not have access to any sensitive data from the member's Aadhaar. "If you don't have an Aadhaar, you can still verify other information for use on LinkedIn using different methods. You can choose to verify through your work email, or workplace credentials," he added. In April, the company launched the ID verification in the US and plans to roll out this feature to other regions soon. LinkedIn introduces ID Verification feature for Indian users

Professional networking platform <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/careers/news/how-to-maximize-your-linkedin-presence-and-land-a-high-paying-job-at-the-professional-networking-company/articleshow/87588993.cms" data-type="tilCustomLink">LinkedIn</a> on Thursday unveiled a user interface in Hindi, with the goal to support 600 million Hindi language speakers globally. With this launch, <keyword id="28120" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="linkedin" source="Orion">LinkedIn</keyword> aims to break down language barriers, providing greater access to professional and networking opportunities to Hindi speakers in India and around the world. With the launch of Hindi, LinkedIn now supports 25 languages globally. "We have witnessed high engagement and member growth in the last year, and it is at this exciting inflection point that we are strengthening our vision to create economic opportunity for 'every' member of the workforce, and taking down language barriers for Hindi speakers across the world," Ashutosh Gupta, India Country Manager, LinkedIn said in a statement. Starting Thursday, as part of the Phase 1 roll-out of LinkedIn in Hindi, members will be able to access their feed, profile, jobs, messaging, and create content in Hindi on desktop, and on their Android and iOS phones. As the next step, LinkedIn will work towards widening the range of job opportunities available for Hindi speaking professionals across industries, including more banking, and government jobs. The platform will also continue to add more Hindi publishers and creators in the coming weeks to boost member engagement and conversations in Hindi. Smartphone users will need to select Hindi as their preferred device language under phone settings to view the LinkedIn mobile application in Hindi. For members who are already using Hindi as their preferred language on their smartphones, the LinkedIn experience will automatically be available in Hindi. On desktop, members will need to click on the 'Me' icon at the top of their LinkedIn homepage and select 'Settings and Privacy'. Members then need to click on 'Account Preferences' on the left, select 'Site Preferences', click 'Change' next to 'Language', and select 'Hindi' from the drop down list. India is a core market for growth at LinkedIn and the second largest market in terms of members after the US, accounting for 82 million members as part of a global community of 800 million members. India's member base has grown by 20+ million in the past three years (15 per cent year-over-year growth) and it has witnessed a spike in engagement and conversations on the platform since the pandemic, tye company claims.

LinkedIn India launches a campaign to show how progress starts with a single step

India is the second biggest market for professional networking platform LinkedIn, which is banking on it to drive innovation, while also creating localised and specific content for its 35 million Indian members. 
 ET got in touch with LinkedIn’s new country manager <keyword id="323918" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Akshay-Kothari">Akshay Kothari</keyword>, who applauded the research and development team at their Bengaluru office for LinkedIn’s global offerings, like spam checks and email and mobile notifications. 
 
Talking about the user base, he said that their vision is to create economic opportunities for all professionals, similar to what the country is trying to do. If that can be executed well, they would be able to impact the country both economically and socially. 
 
As of now, LinkedIn is trying to create the world's first economic graph, so that the world economy can be digitally mapped. By connecting different skills in the form of nodes, people can be connected to opportunities. 
 
Talking of the increasing graph of Indian users, which now stands 35 million strong, he said that they had 3.5 million Indian users in 2009, which means that they have grown 10 times in seven years, making it the second biggest market after the US.

He added that especially over the last four months, LinkedIn has been trying to build products and features and customise their work for Indians, like launching the new mobile app, moving from an email interface to a messaging interface.

LinkedIn added 12 million Indian subscribers in the last 18 months as people got hungry for jobs

Gone are the days when an office employee’s relationship with his company used to be limited to the salary account and card swipes. In a news report by The Economic Times, corporate companies are reaching to the families of their employees with innovative HR policies. 
As per the news, Ericsson broke the tradition of having bosses hand over promotion letters, and instead mailed them directly to employees' parents. "It is much more satisfying when your family tells you about your promotion," Sameer Khanna, VP and head of HR, Ericsson India told the ET. Companies like Ericsson, Vodafone, <keyword id="28120" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Linkedin">LinkedIn</keyword>, <keyword id="6912" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="maruti">Maruti</keyword>, HCL, ITC and <keyword id="10387" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Microsoft">Microsoft</keyword> are using methods ranging from competitions to workshops and events involving employees' near and dear as a motivational tool. Car maker, Maruti has been counselling parents on handling stress before their children's board examinations. Besides, every Saturday, children and parents attend computer training workshops. ITC Hotels has been conducting sessions by investment bankers, doctors and yoga experts, for its associates and families since last year. 
 
The hotel chain had earlier engaged educational experts to mentor the children of its employees in scoring better marks in school. "Families influence the employees and their well being affects the employee's work life," says Anil Sharma, vice president - human resources, hotels division. In 2013, LinkedIn designated November 7 as Bring In Your Parents Day globally, which meant employees were encouraged to invite their parents or grandparents to work. 
 
A LinkedIn study in September 2014 showed parents of employees continue to be the driving force behind their success. Around 60 % of professionals believed their parents have valuable professional advice to offer - they're just not sharing enough of it. 52% of parents surveyed in India felt they have the skills and knowledge that could benefit their children's career. 
 "We believe that relevant, personalised insights materially impact the outcome in a professional's life. Who better than a parent to help make things relevant for you?" Nishant Rao, managing director, <keyword id="278010" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="LinkedIn-India">LinkedIn India</keyword> told the financial daily. The company holds break out sessions with parents, and Rao says connecting at work makes the bond tighter. "Part of it is also about familiarising themselves with how social and digital media are changing and how it all works."

India has solidified its position as the second largest market for Microsoft-owned LinkedIn globally. The largest share of members in India are from software &amp; IT, followed by manufacturing, corporate services (consulting, accounting and HR), finance, and education industries, the company informed. "Our 100 million member community in India is using the platform extensively for more than jobs now. They are over-indexing on networking, messaging, and learning more than any other region globally," said Ashutosh Gupta, India Country Manager, LinkedIn. "As we look to welcome the next 100 million professionals, we aim to be a true partner in the lives of professionals as India continues to build a skills-first labour market," he added. As jobs and career paths become increasingly non-linear, companies in India are adopting a skills-first approach to hiring with more than 50 per cent of recruiters on LinkedIn explicitly using skills data to fill their roles, which is higher than the global average of 45 per cent. In 2022 alone, professionals in India spent 4.6 million hours learning on the platform, which is nearly 2x the learning hours spent on LinkedIn in the US. "Despite tough macroeconomic conditions, learning in-demand skills will be critical for professionals to become more employable in any job market and reach their career goals in 2023," said the platform. This year's list of LinkedIn's top 10 most in-demand skills in India features management (1st spot), communication (4), and sales (10). Tech skills such as software development (2), SQL (3), and Java (5). Leadership (6) and analytical skills (8) also feature on the list as important soft skills needed across various job functions. Akshay is a man whom Jeff hand-picked after acquiring his startup Pulse, in 2013. Pulse, which was a mobile application that enabled users to create personalized news feeds, now is integrated into LinkedIn. While Akshay, an Indian got an immense exposure in the Valley, many start-ups have not scaled to such heights. 
 
‘I miss Silicon Valley. That was my home for almost a decade. While things in India are picking up for startups, they’re still behind compared to the US in terms of administrative issues. I remember starting out my company, Pulse with all incorporation, tax-filing etc. done within 24 hours in the valley. I never had to worry about such issues afterward. Startups in India cannot say the same,” says Akshay. 
“While things have become faster and easier for Indian startups, it is important to make everything smoother to match up to developed countries,” he adds, when asked about what he misses the most about silicon valley. 
 
So while LinkedIn tries to help start-ups get the right talent, the Indian government still might have to get them to the right platform, which is in the making.
