Professional networking platform <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/careers/news/how-to-maximize-your-linkedin-presence-and-land-a-high-paying-job-at-the-professional-networking-company/articleshow/87588993.cms" data-type="tilCustomLink">LinkedIn</a> on Thursday unveiled a user interface in Hindi, with the goal to support 600 million Hindi language speakers globally. With this launch, <keyword id="28120" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="linkedin" source="Orion">LinkedIn</keyword> aims to break down language barriers, providing greater access to professional and networking opportunities to Hindi speakers in India and around the world. With the launch of Hindi, LinkedIn now supports 25 languages globally. "We have witnessed high engagement and member growth in the last year, and it is at this exciting inflection point that we are strengthening our vision to create economic opportunity for 'every' member of the workforce, and taking down language barriers for Hindi speakers across the world," Ashutosh Gupta, India Country Manager, LinkedIn said in a statement. Starting Thursday, as part of the Phase 1 roll-out of LinkedIn in Hindi, members will be able to access their feed, profile, jobs, messaging, and create content in Hindi on desktop, and on their Android and iOS phones. As the next step, LinkedIn will work towards widening the range of job opportunities available for Hindi speaking professionals across industries, including more banking, and government jobs. The platform will also continue to add more Hindi publishers and creators in the coming weeks to boost member engagement and conversations in Hindi. Smartphone users will need to select Hindi as their preferred device language under phone settings to view the LinkedIn mobile application in Hindi. For members who are already using Hindi as their preferred language on their smartphones, the LinkedIn experience will automatically be available in Hindi. On desktop, members will need to click on the 'Me' icon at the top of their LinkedIn homepage and select 'Settings and Privacy'. Members then need to click on 'Account Preferences' on the left, select 'Site Preferences', click 'Change' next to 'Language', and select 'Hindi' from the drop down list. India is a core market for growth at LinkedIn and the second largest market in terms of members after the US, accounting for 82 million members as part of a global community of 800 million members. India's member base has grown by 20+ million in the past three years (15 per cent year-over-year growth) and it has witnessed a spike in engagement and conversations on the platform since the pandemic, tye company claims.

On a few challenges that he faced when he started out on his content-creation journey, Warikoo said, “For me, it was testing with different content types, different media formats and understanding the pulse of the audience - what they reacted to favourably and what they dismissed.” On why he decided to mentor for the program, he added, “Having experienced a fulfilling content creation journey on LinkedIn for over 7 years, I wished for other creators to realise the power of content and LinkedIn as a platform. She said, “The number 1 tip that I have is, you should be authentic. I know it sounds very simple, but really do what works for you. It’s also important to be focused on a particular space. You don’t want to be someone who’s commenting on food, work-life balance, sports, finance and everything. Be focused and really write what comes to your heart. We often think that you need earth-shattering or ground-breaking discoveries to post content. I think you need simple, honest content that comes from the heart, that can resonate with the reader. Another thing critical in the creator journey is consistency. One of the things I have learned is that you have to constantly keep posting content. That doesn’t mean that you do something every day. It also doesn’t mean that you do something once in two months. Moreover, LinkedIn is a professional platform and one should be very appropriate. And once you get started and you experiment, you’ll figure out what works and what doesn’t work for you. So I would really encourage you to get started, write something authentic. Try to do it consistently, and find one or two spaces that you are going to be focused on.”

But sorting through massive numbers of messages from customers, partners and even employees can be tedious and time-consuming.That's the problem entrepreneur Beerud Sheth, co-founder and CEO of Gupshup, has taken on by using AI to quickly manage all that traffic, and to even make text messages a more valuable business tool."More and more enterprises are sending messages because they find it's so convenient," Sheth told Business Insider. "The more they come in the harder it is to manage them."<a href="https://www.gupshup.io/developer/home">Gupshup</a>, a Hindi word for "socializing" or "chatting," uses AI to automatically sort and classify text messages on any device, organizing them into folders similar to the system used by Google's Gmail. The tool then transforms each message into a more compelling and easy-to-understand visual card. Sheth calls it smart messaging."It reads every message, extracts the key information and then displays it as a rich visualized card," Sheth, who was also the founder of Elance, the freelance platform now known as Upwork, told Business Insider. "It looks like a boarding pass of a plane ticket or a credit card statement rather than a plain text message."Gupshup, which was founded in 2005 and is based in Palo Alto, is used by major companies, including Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, Citibank and LinkedIn. The company says its platform handles 4.5 billion messages a month.Gupshup has raised $50 million in five rounds from investors, including CRV, Globespan Capital Partners and Helion Ventures. Its last funding round was in 2011 when it raised $10 million. Just one week after Twitter censored the Caravan's accounts at the Indian Government's request, the magazine received <a href="https://thewire.in/media/caravan-magazine-wins-louis-m-lyons-award-for-its-indispensable-reporting-on-india">a prestigious award from Harvard University's Nieman Foundation, </a>that praised its "unique and uncompromising coverage of the erosion of human rights, social justice, and democracy."The standoff grew as worldwide interest intensified. <a href="https://blog.twitter.com/en_in/topics/company/2020/twitters-response-indian-government.html">Twitter issued a statement </a>on February 10 saying it had banned those who violated its rules but only "temporarily complied" with the Indian Government's specific requests for bans, later restoring those accounts.It added it restricted some accounts but only within India."In keeping with our principles of defending protected speech and freedom of expression, we have not taken any action on accounts that consist of news media entities, journalists, activists, and politicians," Twitter said.Caravan's executive editor Vinod Jose told Insider that the block, which stopped people in India accessing its Hindi and English language accounts, felt "targeted" as the publication has aggressively criticized the government.But he said he was surprised that Twitter had briefly complied given it had <a href="https://blog.twitter.com/en_us/topics/company/2020/suspension.html">permanently deleted</a> Donald Trump's account for inciting the Capitol Hill riots three weeks earlier.<div type="image" title="Vinod Jose" height="1887" width="2516" msid="81211244" hostid="261"></div>"My first thought was <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com.au/twitter-trump-banned-bolsonaro-modi-india-brazil-populists-2021-1">they could stand up to the president of their country</a> but were getting bullied here," he added.He added the ban helped generate publicity for the magazine, which has since launched <a href="https://twitter.com/thecaravanindia/status/1362669498185093120">a subscription drive</a> fronted by Man Booker Prize-winning novelist Arundhati Roy.As well as requesting Twitter bans, the Indian authorities have also moved against prominent voices because of their tweets.On January 30, Jose and six other journalists, including top news anchor Rajdeep Sardesai, had complaints filed against them accusing them of criminal sedition for tweeting about the alleged fatal shooting of a protestor, whose death was later revealed to have been an accident. The charge can carry a sentence of<a href="https://devgan.in/ipc/section/124A/"> life imprisonment</a>. This was not an isolated incident. A freelance journalist <a href="https://thewire.in/rights/prashant-kanojia-arrested-tweets-uttar-pradesh-police-transit-remand">spent a month</a> in jail last year over a tweet that authorities said had disrupted communal harmony. On February 15, police charged a 22-year-old <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/india/news/climate-activist-disha-ravi-arrested-for-being-the-toolkit-editor-of-indias-farmers-protests/articleshow/80920349.cms">climate activist</a> with sedition for circulating a toolkit that Thunberg had tweeted.Inji Pennu, a Kerala-born tech blogger who lives in Florida and monitors <keyword id="6354632" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="social-media">social media</keyword> trends in India, told Insider it would be a "privilege" for anyone to "post on a social media platform and escape without having a complaint slapped against you."Political commentator <a href="https://twitter.com/sanjukta">Sanjukta Basu</a> also had her Twitter targeted on February 1, when she woke up to see her account was invisible inside India. She told Insider she initially thought a tweet about <a href="https://www.newslaundry.com/2021/02/10/arrested-before-he-could-perform-how-munawar-faruqui-spent-a-month-in-jail">the arrest of a stand up comic</a> must have prompted it. But she deduced from media reports that her account was blocked because she had used the hashtag #ModiPlanningFarmerGenocide, that spread the false claim Modi was planning mass murder.Basu told Insider her tweet didn't endorse the claim but was "examining Twitter's illogical trends and had listed some trending hashtags."She believed her vocal criticism of Modi's government had prompted the ban. After her account was restored, she tweeted about the surge in followers she had, saying: "More they bully you, more you grow."Asked how the episode left her feeling about Twitter, she said: "They stood up to the Indian government because of a regime change in the US. It doesn't want to be seen siding with an authoritarian government in a developing country."Raheel Khurseed, a journalist who was Twitter India's head of Politics, Policy and Government from 2014 to 2018, agreed Joe Biden replacing Donald Trump meant there was now a US President who was "ideologically more aligned with Twitter's position on free speech"."The fact that [the Biden administration] would want to hold the same standards elsewhere in the world gives Twitter some amount of immunity as it tries to apply the same standards elsewhere in the world," he told Insider. After Twitter's public statement of defiance, Ravi Shankar, the justice and technology minister, told India's parliament that laws would be tightened to make social media companies more compliant. "We will not tolerate the misuse of social media for fake news," he said."I politely remind the companies, whether it is Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn or WhatsApp or anyone, they are free to work in India, do business, but they need to respect the Indian Constitution."Twitter reportedly met with Indian Government officials earlier this month and had taken down 97% of the accounts authorities had requested. The <a href="https://indianexpress.com/article/india/better-communication-with-govt-twitter-to-restructure-india-team-7184892/">Indian Express reported</a> it told authorities it would restructure its India team so there were more senior managers in the country to handle compliance issues.Khurseed said it was an "interesting moment in Twitter's journey in India"."The government, of course, has its own ideas about how these platforms need to run and whether they implement that on a policy level," he said, adding it "remains to be seen" what will change.He said Twitter might make new appointments and restructure its team but added there were discussions since his time there working about "making policy teams immune to government interference".He added: "I think this is the right time to restart those conversations."Twitter declined to comment, referring Insider to its February 10 statement.

Advertisements featuring the cricketers with new slogans for each time have already hit television screens across the country. The enormous popularity of the Indian Premier League – the 20-over cricket match with players from across country teams – is evident in the sold out stands seen at stadiums, high television ratings and recurring prime time slots, with nearly half of the audience being women. Yet, the majority of Indian commercials aired during IPL continue to target just men, a reflection of the typical gender stereotyping still common among advertisers. Even a cursory look at the latest numbers on viewership should make Indian brands sit up and evaluate why they need to switch their strategy – and do so urgently. According to a new report by BARC, IPL reaches to 77% more women than any primetime Hindi General Entertainment Channel (GEC). The report added that IPL reaches out to 262 million women in just 51 days as opposed to a top GEC channel which manages to garner 200 million in a year. Overall, women today hold a 47% television audience share during IPLs. It’s been 12 years since IPL launched and it still manages to be a big favourite of advertisers, attracting big spends. From shaving companies to fairness creams for men or ads presented as locker room scenes and even indirect advertising for liquor featuring male actors continue to take centre stage during the primetime spots or even as tickers during matches. While not all top brands that cater to both men and women have stereotyped advertisements during cricket matches to be only for men, the general notion has been to sell a product to men during matches. Brands that hit a six with advertisements in 2018 According to a report on <a href="http://www.adageindia.in/marketing/news/ipl-2018-are-brands-scoring-enough-in-terms-of-creativity-this-season/articleshow/63807101.cms">AdAge India</a>, the brands which made a mark during IPL ads in 2018 were Vivo, Reliance Jio, Colgate, Amul, Coca-Cola, MakeMyTrip, Dream11, Kent, Berger Paints, Asian Paints, Crompton, Blue Star, Voltas, Haier, Luminous, Dollar, Vimal Pan Masala, Ceat Tyres, Pidilite, Vanessa, Sleep Well, Parle Agro, Parle Products, Polycab, Vu TV, AMFI, Dollar, Domino’s, Ford, Elica, Onida, Linkedin, Tata Nexon, among others. Popular phone manufacturer Vivo Electronics Corp <a href="https://www.livemint.com/Opinion/ZBNS9iU91o4k7CN2b8826I/Why-IPL-continues-to-charm-audiences-advertisers.html">paid </a>₹2,199 crore for a five-year sponsorship of IPL, a big big jump from Pepsi’s ₹400 crore 5-year deal. Additionally, IPL has always been a great time to launch new advertising campaigns, and has already seen many success stories in India. One of the most successful ad campaigns that took off during IPL is Vodafone Zoozoo. The Zoozoos took off from the second season of the IPL and also went on to win <a href="https://www.indiatoday.in/latest-headlines/story/vodafones-zoozoo-campaign-wins-award-71192-2010-04-07">awards</a> for successful marketing strategy. Even startups like Swiggy witnessed a <a href="https://www.exchange4media.com/ipl-news/swiggys-ipl-ad-campaign-yields-25growth-in-orders-during-ipl-90467.html">growth</a> of 25% thanks to their advertising during the IPL matches. An <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/industry/services/advertising/rs-2000-cr-ad-spends-set-aside-for-ipl/articleshow/67767108.cms">ET</a> report states that for IPL 2019, advertisers are expected to spend more than ₹2000 crore, which is a jump from Star India’s last year’s revenue of ₹1,750 crore from IPL ads.
