Mattel apologizes for accidentally printing X-rated link on boxes for 'Wicked' dolls

Additional Secretary in the DPIIT Rajeev Singh Thakur said that the department has again reopened the application window for the PLI (production linked incentive) scheme for white goods (<keyword id="20360726" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ACs" source="keywords">ACs</keyword> and LED lights). The application window is open from July 15 to October 12. "In the PLI in white goods scheme, somehow the response has been muted. ...Probably due to various reasons not sufficient response has come. So far, 66 applicants with committed investment of Rs 6,962 crore have been selected as beneficiaries under the PLI scheme. The public capex in the last 10 years is growing at a fast pace in areas like highways, expressway, ports, airports and railways, but the commensurate response of the private sector "somehow is not up to the expectation", he said. Earlier speaking at the event, DPIIT Secretary Amardeep Singh Bhatia said that a lot of steps have been taken to promote ease of doing business, cutting down compliance burden and decriminalisation of minor offences. The government has also recently approved 12 industrial townships and the industry can look at investing there. He added that capital availability is not an issue now and the government has also provided protection to the industry from predatory imports. Schemes like PLI and semiconductor mission have been rolled out to promote manufacturing and "now we want the industry" to ensure that they have necessary collaborations in place for technology and investments. The industry should do collaborations not only to target the domestic market but also become part of global value chains. "That is an expectation we are having from the entire industry and I think industry will rise to meet these expectations... We have a huge demographic dividend and the industry should take advantage of this otherwise we will miss it," Bhatia added. He also said that there is no paucity of adequate skilled labour in the country and logistics costs too are coming down. On logistics, he cited examples of Amazon and Flipkart selling goods in the remotest part of the country. "I don't think industry should look at the current domestic demand only for collaborations. They should look at the future and export market also in addition to the domestic market," he said, adding expenditure on research and development is "abysmally" low and that needs to be enhanced. The billionaire didn’t reveal the exact time and date of the surgery but said that 400 of the implant’s electrodes are functioning in the second patient’s brain. According to Neuralink’s website, their implant uses a total of 1,024 electrodes. As per the consultation paper, SEBI said, it "proposed to introduce the concept of sustainable securitised debt instruments for the purpose of providing originators of the underlying credit facilities which are within such international or domestic frameworks for sustainable finance, and thereby provide investors as well an opportunity to participate in the sustainable securitised debt instruments". The consultation paper also addressed the initial and continuous disclosures for sustainable securitised debt instruments that would be based on international frameworks. Initial disclosures could be made in the offer document for the securities, while continuous disclosures might be included in annual reports or other mandated formats. The markets watchdog also suggested that issuers of ESG debt securities and sustainable securitised debt instruments appoint an independent external reviewer or certifier, to facilitate transparency and credibility. The review could take various forms including, second-party opinions, verification, certification, or scoring/ rating. Microplastics are a growing global concern because they can harm both health and the environment. These tiny plastic particles can enter the human body through food, water and air. Recent research has found microplastics in human organs such as the lungs, heart, and even in breast milk and unborn babies. The report estimated that in 2024, around 310,720 new cases will be diagnosed, and around 42,250 women will die from the disease. Men can also get breast cancer, although it is rare.The link between breast cancer and having children is complex, but certain factors, like the age at which a woman has a child, can impact the risk, Jemal said.Dr. Hannah Moody, head of science and health education at the charity Breast Cancer UK, sought to allay the fears of women who fall into those categories. "Yes, breastfeeding and having children younger may help to reduce your risk of breast cancer. But that alone isn't why rates are increasing," she said, adding that lifestyle and environmental factors also play a role in the increased number of cases. However, documenting such trends can help experts such as epidemiologists understand cancer rates at a population-wide level, and shouldn't be a cause for concern.<h2 id="a6484446-435a-493b-acd0-a7f11c2c9fb4">Breastfeeding</h2>Breastfeeding has a protective effect against breast cancer, Jemal said, but rates have declined in the US over time.The CDC recommends exclusively breastfeeding babies for the first six months of their lives and breastfeeding alongside complementary foods for at least a year. But only one in four US infants were exclusively breastfed for more than six months in 2019, a 2023 study published in Frontiers in Public Health found.The risk of breast cancer decreases by around 4% for every 12 months of breastfeeding, according to Breast Cancer UK.A possible explanation is that breastfeeding reduces a person's total number of lifetime menstrual cycles. The more cycles they have, the greater their exposure to the hormones estrogen and progesterone, which are linked to a higher breast cancer risk, according to the ACS.<h2 id="a6232ea3-183b-444e-bca1-8aaa70531b0c">Not having children or having children later in life</h2>More and more people are deciding not to have children or to have them later in life, as shown by the rise in <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/parents-dinks-winning-childfree-economy-finances-income-vacation-retirement-kids-2024-2">DINKs</a>.According to a 2022 report from the US Census Bureau, fertility rates among women in their 20s fell by 43% between 1990 and 2019, while those of women ages 35 to 39 increased by 67%.And in 2023, 47% of US adults under 50 without children said they were unlikely to ever have them, compared to 37% in 2018, according to a Pew Research Center survey.This drop in fertility rates may have contributed to the rise in younger women getting breast cancer because having children later in life is an established risk factor, Jemal said.Women who have not had children or who had their first child after age 30 have a slightly higher breast cancer risk overall, according to the ACS. Meanwhile, having many pregnancies and becoming pregnant at a young age reduces breast cancer risk.

About half the participants were women, aged 55 years on average. Chronic pain is a condition in which pain persists beyond the immediate healing period, following an injury or trauma. The researchers, including those from the <keyword id="21703969" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="university-of-tasmania" source="keywords">University of Tasmania</keyword>, Australia, also found that women having higher levels of 'subcutaneous adipose tissue', or the fat right under the skin that can be pinched, were at a 60% increased chance of having widespread chronic pain. The researchers advised that addressing abdominal fat could help reduce chronic pain, particularly if it is widespread. For the study, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans of the abdomen were used for measuring both the types of fat -- visceral and subcutaneous adipose tissue. The participants also underwent pain assessments, in which they were asked if they had experienced pain in their neck or shoulder, back, hip, knee or 'all over the body' for more than three months. The scans and evaluations were repeated after two years for a smaller group of 638 participants. Being an observational study, the authors could not establish cause-and-effect links. They also acknowledged the study's limitations, including the comparatively smaller size of the participants' sample undergoing repeat tests, and not measuring the severity of pain. "Abdominal adipose tissue was associated with chronic musculoskeletal pain, suggesting that excessive and ectopic (abnormal) fat depositions may be involved in the pathogenesis of multisite and widespread chronic musculoskeletal pain," the authors wrote.
