PlayStation 5 is now available at a discount of ₹10,000 for a limited period

New Delhi, May 5 () Bharti Airtel's customers who have downloaded the company's mobile app will get free access to ZEE5's video entertainment content for about two months under a partnership between the two entities announced on Tuesday. Airtel Thanks app customers will not have to pay any subscription to avail the access to ZEE5's content, according to the announcement. "There is some exciting news for all Airtel Thanks customers, who will now get free unlimited access to ZEE5's premium content library as part of their exclusive Thanks benefits. This special offer for Airtel Thanks customers will be available from May 4, 2020, to July 12, 2020," Airtel said in statement. Both prepaid and postpaid customers can download the app. "ZEE5 is happy to strengthen the relationship further with Airtel. We are looking to expand our reach through this partnership with Airtel as we will leverage synergies between the brands and further bolster our presence across the country," Manpreet Bumrah, business development and commercial head, ZEE5 India, said. The country has witnessed around 20 per cent rise in demand in data consumption during the lockdown. The tax department will make sure that the window is not used by people who have already been red flagged by it. 
 
The Income Declaration Scheme 2016 will also not be available if authorities have prior information about the claimant from another country under tax information-exchange treaties. 
 
This scheme gives a limited-period compliance window from June 1 to September 30 to declare undisclosed income.

Black money: Government to ensure there is no washing away of past sins

New Delhi, Apr 5 () Industry body Assochan on Sunday said it has urged the government as well as RBI to increase the limit of contact-less payments on PoS machines to Rs 5,000 from the current Rs 2,000 in view of coronavirus outbreak.In a statement, the chamber said inter-operability of digital transactions is among the other recommendations it has made to the finance ministry and RBI for further boosting digital payment, which is "playing a savior" amid the lockdown."The objective is to help the government further push adoption of digital payments among the masses and merchants so as to advance and maintain social distancing in this critical scenario. These times have drawn attention to the safety and cleanliness of basic activities," said Assocham Secretary General Deepak Sood in the letters to the Finance Minister and RBI Governor.Further deployment of technology platforms like VPA, IFSC, SWIFT Code can be effectively used for money transactions, which may include remittances to Indian students studying in some of the countries, worst affected by Covid-19 outbreak, he said.For facilitating trade, the chamber said e-payments should be facilitated for all the channels by issuing Bharat QR code.Besides, all cards, newly issued or re-issued, should be activated with Domestic Card-Not-Present [CNP] and contact-less transaction options, it added.Currently, transactions up to Rs 2,000 using contactless cards through tap and pay mode are allowed without PIN."In view of the ongoing pandemic situation, transactions up to Rs 5,000 may be considered without the requirement of PIN, irrespective of whether the card is a contact-less card or not," the chamber said.The increase in contactless transaction limit may be considered for a limited period of 6 months, it added.Assocham also recommended that the NBFCs be given licences to issue credit cards to the SMEs, a move which can help the small and medium firms with their working capital for short periods. Assocham urges govt to raise limit of contact-less payment to Rs 5,000

New Delhi, <keyword id="17522689" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="aviation-safety-regulator" source="Orion">Aviation safety regulator</keyword> <keyword id="6354787" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="dgca" source="Orion">DGCA</keyword> on Monday came out with revised Flight Duty Time Limitations (<keyword id="20111051" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="fdtl" source="keywords">FDTL</keyword>) norms for flight crew, entailing increased weekly rest periods to 48 hours, extension of night hours, and limiting the number of night landings to only two as against six earlier. These regulations have been instrumental in managing fatigue-related aviation safety risks for more than a decade now, an official statement said. Airlines are required to comply with the revised norms latest by June 1, it said. With a view to address and mitigate concerns on pilot fatigue through a data-driven approach, Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) collected and analysed extensive numbers of pilot rosters, along with pilot fatigue reports submitted by airline operators, it said. Based on the study and analysis, some of the key areas inducing fatigue, such as maximum flight duty period, night duty, weekly rest period, flight duty period extension, among others, were identified, it said. The revised FDTL regulations have been formulated after extensive data analysis and feedback from various stakeholders, including airline operators, pilot associations and individuals, as per the statement. It also said the best practices in the world -- FAA in the US, and EASA in the <keyword id="19895384" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="european-union" source="keywords">European Union</keyword> -- have also been taken into consideration in amending the regulations, while keeping in mind the specific operating environment in India. The revised regulations mandate increased weekly rest periods from 36 hours to 48 hours for flight crew, thus ensuring sufficient time for recovery from cumulative fatigue, it said. Moreover, the definition of night has been amended and it now covers the period of 0000-0600 hours in the revised regulations vis-a-vis the period of 0000-0500 hours under the previous regulations. This enhancement of one hour during the early morning will ensure adequate rest and also align the night duty period, which encompasses <keyword id="20111957" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="window-of-circadian-low" source="keywords">Window of Circadian Low</keyword> (WOCL) from 0200-0600 hours, the time during which the circadian body clock cycle is at its lowest in terms of alertness, the statement said. Also, the revised regulations have taken into consideration different types of operations across time zones, the statement said, adding that the maximum flight time and maximum flight duty period for flight operations encroaching night have been restricted to eight hours' flight time and 10 hours flight duty period, respectively. The number of landings has been limited to only two as against the maximum permissible six under previous regulations during night operations, thus enhancing flight safety, it added.

Aviation regulator raises weekly rest periods for flight crew to 48 hours

New Delhi, Apr 1 () The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Wednesday announced more measures, including extension of period for realisation and repatriation of export proceeds, to deal with the economic fallout of Covid-19 pandemic.It also increased ways and means advances (WMA) limit by 30 per cent from existing limit for all states and union territories.In a statement, the RBI said presently value of goods or software exports made by the exporters is required to be realised fully and repatriated to the country within a period of 9 months from the date of exports."In view of the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the time period for realization and repatriation of export proceeds for exports made up to or on July 31, 2020, has been extended to 15 months from the date of export," it said. RBI announces more measures to deal with economic fallout of Covid-19

New Delhi, Feb 6 () IDFC Ltd on Thursday reported narrowing of its consolidated net loss to Rs 342.67 crore for the quarter ended December against that of Rs 670.92 crore in the same period of the previous fiscal. Total income during the October-December quarter of 2019-20, however, rose to Rs 121.53 crore as against Rs 47.62 crore in the same period of 2018-19, IDFC Ltd said in a regulatory filing. "The board of the company had declared interim dividend of Rs 0.65 per share on November 14, 2019. The same was paid on November 26, 2019 to shareholders on a record date as decided by the Board," it said. The board, as part of simplification of corporate structure, have approved the merger IDFC Alternatives Limited, IDFC Trustee Company Limited and IDFC Projects Limited (wholly-owned subsidiary companies) into IDFC Limited subject to regulatory approvals from various authorities, it added. Ted Cruz a victory, saying a $250,000 limit on post-campaign repayments to candidates violated his First Amendment rights. On April 1, 2019, Cruz's campaign filed a lawsuit against the Federal Election Commission after contributing $260,000 to his 2018 reelection campaign. He sued as he attempted to repay his personal loan. "We find that the loan-repayment limit burdens political speech and thus implicates the protection of the First Amendment," a trio of federal judges wrote on Thursday in <a href="https://www.fec.gov/updates/district-court-issues-opinion-in-ted-cruz-for-senate-et-al-v-fec/">a memorandum opinion</a>.They added: "Because the government has failed to demonstrate that the loan-repayment limit serves an interest in preventing quid pro quo corruption, or that the limit is sufficiently tailored to serve this purpose, the loan repayment limit runs afoul of the First Amendment." Thursday's ruling amounted to another victory for conservative politicians and donors, who have long sought to remove limits on political fundraising. The Supreme Court in 2010 ruled against the FEC in its case against Citizens United, striking limits on corporate election spending, and giving rise to super PACs.In the back-and-forth between Cruz and the FEC, the commission's lawyers said last year that Cruz had intentionally broken the rules, forcing his lawsuit.Cruz's campaign staffers started discussing taking action against the repayment limit as early as 2012, according to court filings. "Those discussions continued for several years, concurrently with Senator Cruz's preparation to run for reelection in 2018," FEC lawyers wrote as they <a href="https://www.fec.gov/resources/cms-content/documents/cruz_fec_msj.pdf">sought a summary judgement</a> in 2020. Cruz had raised more than $35 million during the campaign against Beto O'Rourke. But the day before the election, Cruz loaned his campaign $260,000. As polls closed on November 6, 2018, his campaign had $2.38 million in cash on hand, according to court filings. <keyword id="1076393" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="campaign-finance">Campaign finance</keyword> law allowed campaigns to repay up to $250,000 in personal loans from candidates, but they had to wait 20 days before distributing the funds. Within that 20-day waiting period, Cruz's campaign could have repaid the extra $10,000 using cash on hand on election day, according to the FEC. "The plaintiff repaid no money during that period, however, because they wanted to bring this lawsuit," the commission said in a court filing. Cruz's campaign waited 20 days, then began repaying the funds.In an email to his campaign 2 days after the deadline, Cruz said, "Since more than 20 days have passed, it would be REALLY good if we could pay back at least some of the $250k now. Our cash is really getting stretched."In the lawsuit filed on April Fools Day in 2019, Cruz's team said the limit on repayments violated the First Amendment rights of candidates. Cruz argued that his campaign should have been able to continue raising funds after the election to repay the $10,000 balance of his personal loan, according to the filing.The limit on repayment "restricts the political speech of candidates and their campaign committees by limiting the time period in which the candidate may raise money to communicate his or her political message and by effectively limiting the candidate's ability to lend the campaign necessary funds," Cruz's lawyers wrote in their complaint. Mumbai, Apr 7 () State-run Bank of Baroda on Tuesday said it will provide financial assistance of up to Rs 1 lakh to women self-help groups (SHGs) to help meet their funding demand amid the COVID-19 crisis. The bank has also announced an emergency credit line for farmers producer organisations (FPO/FPC) to deal with any liquidity mismatches. Under the Additional Assurance to SHGs-COVID19 scheme, the bank will provide support to existing SHGs' facilities in the form of cash credit or overdraft or term loans. "The minimum loan amount is Rs 30,000 per SHG and maximum loan amount granted under the scheme is Rs one lakh per member, repayable in 24 months," the bank said in a statement. The repayment for this scheme would be on a monthly or quarterly basis and the moratorium will be for a period of six months from the date of disbursement. For FPO/FPC, a limit of 10 per cent of the combined limits will be sanctioned with maximum amount of Rs 5 lakh with the tenor of 36 months. The moratorium period is for a maximum of six months. For borrowers in dairy and fisheries segment, the lender will provide instant credit to farming community to meet emergent funds requirement for farm maintenance and other farm related activities due to COVID-19. "The limit stands at 10 per cent of other agriculture sanction limit (i.e. minimum Rs 10,000) and maximum Rs 50,000 for existing regular investment credit agriculture accounts," it said. The lender will also give an instant credit to crop loan borrowers for requirement in agriculture and related domestic purposes. The loan limit under the scheme is 10 per cent of KCC sanction limit -- minimum Rs 10,000 and maximum Rs 50,000 -- for existing regular KCC holders. HV RVK
