The company posted 14.6 billion yuan in earnings, mostly from "fair value changes of convertible redeemable preferred shares." As a result, the diluted earnings per share was negative 0.377 yuan."All business segments achieved strong revenue growth, with the fastest growth seen in our IoT and lifestyle products segment," the Chinese smartphone maker wrote in its <a href="https://i01.appmifile.com/webfile/globalweb/company/ir/financial_us/LTN20180822385.pdf">earnings release</a>. The company's main business segment - smartphones - contributed RMB30.5 billion in revenue, an increase of 58.7% versus last year. "This growth was driven by an increase in both smartphone sales volume and our average selling price," Xiaomi said.Xiaomi's average selling price of smartphones on mainland China increased more than 25% year-over-year, but its smartphone gross profit margin decreased to 6.7% in the second quarter, compared to 8.7% a year ago.The IoT and lifestyle products segment saw sales grow 104.3% YoY. After Xiaomi smart TV was launched in the India market in February, the product's global sales volume increased over 350% YoY for the second quarter. New Delhi, July 1 () Marico has now fully acquired Beardo, a startup company which operates into the men's grooming market, by buying 55 per cent additional shares, a move which will help FMCG firm to extend its play into the segment. Marico has acquired the remaining 55 per cent share of Zed Lifestyle, Beardo's parent firm, in an all-cash deal, making a step-down company. "The investment makes the investee company (Zed Lifestyle) a wholly-owned subsidiary of Marico Ltd and gives Marico a complete control over the operations of the investee company," said Marico in a regulatory filing. Confirming the move, Venture Catalysts (VCats), an integrated incubator and accelerator platform, also announced a complete exit from Zed Lifestyle after the acquisition of its portfolio company Beardo by Marico. "Sensing the tremendous potential in the segment, Marico acquired an additional 55 per cent equity share in Beardo's parent company Zed Lifestyle Pvt Ltd earlier this week," said a statement from VCats. Marico had made an investment in the company in March 2017, which was equivalent to 45 per cent of the issued and paid-up share capital of Zed Lifestyle. Beardo, which sells beard oils, beard waxes, soaps, and other products for men's facial hair, had a turnover of Rs 78.49 crore in FY 2019-20. New Delhi, Feb 27 () The wearables market in India recorded an over 168 per cent year-over-year growth in 2019, with shipments touching 14.9 million units, IDC said on Thursday. Accounting for the largest share of shipment volumes, the earwear category grew five-fold, shipping 8.5 million units, while wrist bands and watches segments touched 5.3 million units and 0.9 million units, respectively. In the December quarter, wearables vendors shipped a total of 5.1 million units, making it the seventh consecutive quarter of double-digit growth in shipments, IDC said. It was also the biggest quarter for wrist bands with 1.5 million units shipped in a single quarter, witnessing 30.9 per cent year-on-year growth, it added. "Ear-worn devices have found huge appeal with consumers, who are spoiled for choice with a variety of models at different price points. Affordable neckbands are leading the charge of migration from wired to wireless in this category," IDC India Market Analyst Anisha Dumbre said. At the same time, truly wireless devices with improved battery life and connectivity are attracting users to spend more, Dumbre added. "As more vendors entered this segment with affordable options, the average selling price (ASP) of the category came down to USD 39 in 2019 from USD 63 a year ago, resulting in massive growth in this category," Dumbre said. IDC India's Associate Research Manager (Client Devices) Jaipal Singh said the wearables market is in a state of flux with new form factors and brands entering every few months. "India is still underpenetrated when it comes to the adoption of wearables for health. Growing concerns around lifestyle diseases, have certainly helped wearables to get initial traction for weight control and physical activity monitoring," he said. He added that the market, however, is yet to scale beyond the key cities. "Vendors will need to continue to experiment in this segment to explore scalable opportunities," he said. Xiaomi remained the dominant leader with a 48.9 per cent share in the wrist bands category, while Titan maintained its second position with 14.5 per cent share. A total of 933,000 units of watches were shipped during the year with a 77.5 per cent growth. Smartwatches continued to lead the watch category with 61.1 per cent share in 2019. In the smartwatch category, Fossil was the leading vendor with 30.3 per cent share, followed by Apple (26.6 per cent). Huami led the basic watch category. Homegrown brand BoAt Lifestyle led the earwear segment with 27.3 per cent market share. India's wearables market records 14.9 mn units shipment in 2019: IDC

Mi Smart TVs continue to be the best-selling devices for the nine consecutive quarters in India, with a 22 per cent market share (Q2, 2020). The company recently said it has sold over 50 lakh Mi TVs since its inception in 2018. "We have seen that the aspirations of the consumers are ever-changing. It will be a perfect amalgamation of technology and design, enhancing both the living space and entertainment experience for consumers," Nilakantan elaborated. QLED TVs are at the forefront of emerging TV technology. They make up a large portion of the premium TV segment and amplify the aspirations of the TV viewing public. The QLED market has seen merit in proposing a combination of lifestyle and functional merit. Xiaomi to launch 'Made in India' 55-inch QLED TV on December 16

Businesswomen are one of the fastest-growing traveller segments. Keeping this in mind, hotel chains across India are putting in extra effort to attract women business travellers. 
 <keyword id="166964" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="ITC-Hotels">ITC Hotels</keyword> were the first to come up with the concept of Eva rooms exclusively for women travellers in the 1990s. The concept has now evolved from being just a single-room category at ITC Maurya in New Delhi to a dedicated wing and floor in ITC Hotels across the country. Earlier this year, ITC Maratha in Mumbai overhauled the women-only floor to incorporate new design elements. 
 "The endeavour is aimed at going beyond the expected and ordinary to cater to the 'unspoken needs' of this segment," said Dipak Haksar, chief operating officer, ITC Hotels. The hotel chain's upcoming property – <keyword id="2517854" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="ITC-Grand-Bharat">ITC Grand Bharat</keyword> at Manesar near Gurgaon – has special packages on golf, yoga, spa and beauty treatments. 
 
Even other hotel chains are now adopting the trend of women-only floors and bringing in newer and customised services for this segment. "Travel packages for women have been there for years and it's the same everywhere. But those can't work anymore as the female travellers have evolved and their needs are changing," says Louis Sailer, general manager of The Leela Palace, New Delhi. 
 
Hotels are focusing more on this segment as women travellers tend to spend more and indulge in quality lifestyle amenities like spas, beauty treatments, health and wellness.

<ul><li>Reliance Industries announced its Q1 earnings today. </li><li><keyword id="58448" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Reliance-Retail">Reliance Retail</keyword> reported an EBITDA of ₹2,049 crores. </li><li>The retail arm of the company has seen a 69.9% year-on-year growth.</li></ul>Reliance Retail posted robust pre-tax profits today as it grew by around 70%, to ₹2,049 crores in the first quarter of 2019-20 as compared to ₹1,206 crore last year. The revenues from Reliance Retail grew at 47.5% to ₹38,196 crores in the quarter ending June 2019 as compared to ₹25,890 crores in the same quarter last year. “Our EBITDA crosses ₹2,000 crore for the first time (retail business). In our core retail, we have the best margin we have ever seen at 8.9%. We have expanded our footprint. We added over 200 stores in this quarter to now have 10,644 stores across the country. We also achieved the milestone of having 100 million registered loyalty customers, and saw 150 million footfalls in our stores,” said Alok Agarwal, CFO, <keyword id="45442" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Reliance-Industries-Limited">Reliance Industries Limited</keyword>. Agarwal said that this growth has come as Reliance is offering more to its consumers, is present in every part of the country, offering better assortments, better after-sales service support. “We are beginning to take the benefits of scale. As we grow bigger and bigger, we are also able to give consumers better deals and discounts, simply because we are getting better at merchandising,” said Agarwal. Reliance Retail has 10,644 stores in over 6,700 cities. It is present across areas like food and grocery, consumer electronics, fashion and lifestyle. In the food and grocery segment, Reliance Retail operates Reliance Fresh, Reliance Smart and Reliance Market stores, while in consumer electronics it has Reliance Digital, Reliance Digital Express Mini stores and Jio stores. In the fashion &amp; lifestyle segment, it has Reliance Trends, Trends Women, Project Eve, Reliance Footprint, Reliance Jewels and AJIO.com. Reliance Retail, which was launched in 2006, has been growing rapidly over the years and has been aggressively acquiring companies as well. Earlier this year, Reliance Retail had acquired the iconic British toy making company Hamley’s and in July completed the 100% acquisition of the company for a <a href="https://www.businesstoday.in/current/corporate/mukesh-ambani-reliance-brands-completes-100-acquisition-of-hamleys/story/365664.html">reported</a> amount of ₹620 crore. Meanwhile, there are also reports that Reliance Retail is bringing the iconic American brand <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/industry/cons-products/fashion-/-cosmetics-/-jewellery/reliance-to-launch-iconic-jewelry-brand-tiffany-co-in-india/articleshow/70254628.cms">Tiffany &amp; co </a>to India, as per an ET report. The brand could be housed in the luxury mall that Ambani is planning to open next year in the Jio World Centre in Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai.
