The season’s data reflects how the Indian economy is getting back on track,” said Manas Singh, chief business officer, Apna. The report further said that there was a massive increase in the number of employers looking out for the right talent pool across job roles like telecalling, <keyword id="6380915" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="bpo" source="Orion">BPO</keyword>, telesales, receptionist, front office, help desk admin and office assistants between September 1 to October 27 this year. In fact, during the festive season, on an average, 4,000 jobs were posted everyday, said the report. Over 2 lakh jobs created this festive season, says report

<ul><li>Redseer report on Digital Disruptor ranked 75 digital disruptors that currently generate $15 billion in sales online. </li><li>It also classified them into elephants, tigers, rabbits and turtles based on their category dominance and online focus. </li><li>Tigers and rabbits will have to enhance their focus on offline sales, while elephants and turtles will have to approach e-commerce aggressively, the report notes. </li></ul>The world is going digital and all companies – small, big, old and new are adapting to it. Come 2026, a quarter of all sales in the retail world (except grocery) will be online, predicts a Redseer report on Digital Disruptors. The report picked 75 companies in the crowded online space as digital disruptors, who cumulatively currently generate $15 billion in sales online, and ranked them based on the dominance in their category, and online focus. Surprisingly, traditional companies Hindustan Unilever and Aditya Birla Fashion &amp; Retail were ranked as top digital disruptors in grocery &amp; personal care, and fashion &amp; home categories, respectively. In the third category of electronics &amp; appliances, however, digital-first brand boAt was given the numero uno rank. The animal spirits In the jungle that is e-commerce, these 75 companies were also categorised as elephants, tigers, rabbits and turtles. No prizes for guessing who elephants are – typically legacy players who used to dominate their category offline, and have managed to build an online presence. “The sheer scale of elephants and brand pull has enabled them to get significant sales online, but e-commerce still contributes a relatively small share of their revenues,” the report said. Adidas, Zara, Nestle and Marico are some of the other brands listed under elephants. The next are the tigers – early movers in the e-commerce space that have scaled up rapidly. Licious, WakeFit, Mamaearth and Xiaomi are some of the brands in this part of the quadrant that is dominated by digital-first brands. But, Asus and BBK, which are not born digital also made it to this list. “Tigers have built online dominance in their categories. They drive a significant share of sales from e-commerce but have also built a strong offline footprint,” the report said. Rabbits: Yet to win the race The third category is rabbits, which are exclusively digital-first brands that have leveraged e-commerce to scale up but do not have a substantial market share. Most of the brands in this category, like Nothing, Beardo, Sugar Cosmetics, MyGlamm, Minimalist, Country Delight and more – are from the fashion and personal care space. Thanks to high growth in e-commerce sales, these players will benefit but will face challenges from elephants, who have established their presence both online and offline. The last set of companies in the quadrant are the slow-moving turtles – legacy brands that have done well in e-commerce but have a lower market share online relative to others. Fossil, Aachi Masala, Prestige and LG Electronics are some of the brands listed as turtles. The reverse migrants Digital-first brands account for 25% of all the sales in the e-commerce pie. However, now even digital-first brands are going offline, challenging traditional players in the turf erasing the battle lines. On an average, digital-first brands derive over 75% of their sales online while traditional brands do over 30% of their sales online. “Players in the top quadrants — tigers and rabbits — will have to enhance their focus on offline sales, while the bottom quadrant — elephants and turtles – will have to approach e-commerce aggressively,” says Mohit Rana, partner at Redseer. E-commerce is expected to drive retail growth and is projected to grow at a compounded annual rate of 27% to reach $163 billion by 2026. That’s almost three times the growth in the overall retail market, as per Redseer. “Clearly, traditional companies that are over indexed on offline sales have a short window to enhance their share in e-commerce.They need to focus on building their digital capabilities and adopting an omnichannel approach to succeed in the market,” said Redseer. Large-scale traditional players, even with a low percentage of e-commerce sales, have substantial absolute online sales, the report notes. Maruti Suzuki, Hero MotoCorp, Toyota, Motherson Sumi, Bosch, Mitsubishi Electric and Tata Autocomp are among the list of companies that have been approved for the scheme. PLI is a form of incentive from one entity to another, such as from the government to industries. It provides incentives to domestic industries to boost local production. The auto PLI scheme is aimed at giving a push to advanced automotive technologies and manufacturing of electric vehicles in India. The government said that the PLI scheme for the auto sector envisages to overcome the cost disabilities of the industry for manufacture of advanced automotive technology products in India. The incentive structure will encourage industry to make fresh investments for indigenous global supply chains of advanced automotive technology products. Reportedly over 100 companies had applied for the PLI scheme. A report by CNBC-TV18 said that incentives in the range of 8-13% would be given to companies that are making components for safety, flex fuels, compressed natural gas (CNG), liquefied natural gas (LNG), emission control, passenger convenience, fuel efficiency, and sensors, while a higher range of incentives — 13 to 18% would be given to companies making components for hydrogen and electric vehicles. Auto stocks turn outliers in a weak market as government approves 75 auto firms for PLI scheme

His research brought him to the area of electric vehicles (EVs), where he could see two ways to go about it – solve last mile commutes or delivery. He started with solving last mile commute issues with his startup Mobycy. But two years later, Gupta realised that the Indian market wasn’t yet ready to adopt EVs completely and building the infrastructure would take time. “But last mile delivery was already happening, albeit on petrol and diesel vehicles,” he told Business Insider. In November 2019, Gupta along with his co-founders Shivraj Singh and Rashi Agarwal, made the switch from B2C (business to consumer) to B2B (business to business) and rebranded the company to Zypp. “When we started focusing on last mile delivery, we realised that profitability is a sooner path and the problem could be solved faster,” he said. Today, the company has partnered with clients like BigBasket, Spencer’s, Amazon, Flipkart, Licious, Myntra among others to serve their last mile deliveries through Zypp EVs and trained Zypp delivery executives. “I feel it has more potential because to shift the consumer to an EV, you need to have the infrastructure right which will take time. But with businesses, you can go national with them, as they will see there is a cost saving mechanism there,” he said. And the pivot worked well for Zypp, whose fleet size has grown four times in the last two years. “Frankly our revenue has grown eight times. We have onboarded more than 200 B2B customers and our vehicle utilisation has gone up from 60% to 85%. Demand is pretty sorted in the B2B market,” said Gupta. The startup had last raised funds in November 2019 – ₹15 crore from Indian Angel Network. And now the startup is back in the search for funds. While it’s present in Delhi NCR and Jaipur, the company now plans to soon expand to cities like Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Pune. It took one pivot and five years for this EV startup founder to hit the sweet spot for business in India

US-based insurer Metlife Inc, through its group company, will acquire the combined 15.27 per cent stakes of I.G.E. (<keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword>) Private Ltd (IGE) and <keyword id="4100068" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="elpro" source="Orion">Elpro</keyword> International Ltd (Elpro) in the <keyword id="12246295" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="pnb-metlife-india-insurance-company-ltd" source="Orion">PNB MetLife India Insurance Company Ltd</keyword> (<keyword id="1632925" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="pnb-metlife" source="Orion">PNB MetLife</keyword>) for about ₹1,906 crore cash. According to Elpro, it will receive a sum of about ₹1,424.69 crore while I.G.E. (India) will get about ₹481.32 crore. <keyword id="10435293" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="metlife-international-holdings-llc" source="Orion">MetLife International Holdings LLC</keyword> has entered into a share purchase agreement with I.G.E. (India) and Elpro for the purpose. Elpro said the tentative date for completion of the transaction is November 30, 2021 subject to regulatory approvals. With the purchase of the additional stake, MetLife's stake in <keyword id="47268" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="pnb" source="Orion">PNB</keyword> MetLife will go up to 47.325 per cent. "MetLife's joint venture in India has all of the hallmarks we look for in deploying capital to create long term shareholder value: a track record of consistent execution, an extensive distribution network, strong growth and an advantaged position in one of the world's most attractive life insurance markets," MetLife Asia Regional President, Kishore Ponnavolu, said. "I am pleased that this transaction supports MetLife's continued growth in India and will enable us to deliver even more value for our customers, partners and shareholders. The Dabriwala family has been a strong supporter of PNB MetLife and valued members of its board, and we thank them for their contribution to the company." Elpro Director Surbhit Dabriwala said: "We have enjoyed a strong relationship with MetLife for close to 20 years and seen PNB MetLife grow. Our involvement in PNB MetLife is part of a long tradition at Elpro of working with leading multinational partners in India, including in past ventures with GE and FANUC." MetLife acquire stakes of Elpro and IGE's in PNB MetLife for ₹1,906 crore

Investor’s high hopes from the company are reflected in the constant spike in share price. The stock has gained 21% in the last five consecutive sessions after a stellar listing. Paras made the best debut on the exchanges with 171% gains on listing. Those who got shares in the IPO nearly tripled their money within a few minutes of the listing to ₹40,375 from IPO bidding price of ₹14,875. Investors like Paras Defence more than any other sector companies because it has a diverse product portfolio. The party isn’t over for Paras Defence shareholders as the stock breaks through the ceiling five days in a row

The local kirana store or India’s largest retail chain, all of them are keen on getting a piece of the <keyword id="1410674" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="online-grocery-delivery" source="Orion">online grocery delivery</keyword> market. DMart, for instance, has set up its app and pick-up centers for home delivery after handling its bulk delivery orders during the pandemic. Reliance Retail too stepped into this delivery business with its app, <keyword id="8506093" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="jiomart" source="Orion">JioMart</keyword> with little success, though it has also invested in Dunzo. Time does matter When it comes to the delivery market, it’s not about what you deliver, how you deliver but it’s all about ‘when’ you deliver. Most of the online <keyword id="2709620" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="grocery-delivery" source="Orion">grocery delivery</keyword> hinges on timing which is why quick commerce companies are walking away with a lion’s share of the pie. “Grocery shopping in India’s major cities is set to undergo a never-seen-before tec(h)tonic shift led by quick commerce platforms,” said a report by JM Financial. Online grocery market has two segments -- quick commerce and scheduled e-grocery. Only Jiomart, Bigbasket and DMart are scheduled e-grocery stores, all the other platforms are in a race of quick delivery business. And the segment seems to be ruled by the ‘10-30-minute delivery’ offered by platforms like <keyword id="6358977" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="swiggy" source="Orion">Swiggy</keyword>, Blinkit, Zepto and Dunzo. Most of the retail chains who intend to deliver groceries however have a one-day lag period between order and delivery. Added to that, quick commerce platforms are addressing multiple consumer pain-points such as convenience, speed, curated assortment, value, and round-the clock standardized services. Online food ordering business is <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/retail/news/grocery-business-is-like-poison-pill-for-zomato-after-failing-miserably-two-times-as-per-analysts/articleshow/92202068.cms">aiding growth in the e-grocery as well</a>. Customers who order food online for convenience, wider selection, discounts and standardized customer support are also likely to be more amenable to ordering grocery items online for the very same reasons. This opens up cross-sell opportunities for food-techs like Swiggy and Blinkit, which is merging with Zomato. Paan to curds - quick commerce delivers it all A February 2022 Survey by LocalCircles indicates that 71% of the households used q-commerce platforms to either order daily use items such as milk, bread, eggs, curd, fruits and vegetables, etc. They also ordered indulgence items such as soft drinks, ice creams, chocolates and paan. Though, only 29% of the surveyed households used q-commerce for ‘all their grocery’ purchases. For the bulk purchases however, the large format stores are still in the running as people are going to the stores. DMart is still aggressively opening stores in parts of the country to get back to pre-covid levels. “We believe it will look to accelerate store expansion and the benefit of recent expansion is yet to fully kick in – revenue intensity is lower than pre-Covid levels,” said analysts at ICICI Securities post its March quarter earnings. Redseer estimates the grocery market size in India was worth $620 billion in 2021, which is expected to grow at a CAGR of 8% over the next four years to reach over $850 billion by 2025. Quick commerce is all set for the long haul Quick commerce players are also vying for a bigger piece of the entire pie. The quick ordering might start with fresher foods like fruits and vegetables, meat, dairy and other ready-to-cook items; and also indulgence categories like chocolates, biscuits, snacking items, cold drinks, and tobacco.
