These events are semi-regular in China, the last one was held in May for summer interns, it added. Tesla has 224 job openings in China for managers and engineers, 24 of which were posted on June 9, according to a company WeChat account seen by Reuters. China plays an important role in Tesla's global operations. The company's Shanghai gigafactory was responsible f<a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/teslas-crucial-shanghai-gigafactory-shut-due-covid-restrictions-2022-3?r=US&amp;IR=T">or half</a> of Tesla's global production last year.Tesla did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment made outside of normal working hours. The recruitment adverts come days after Musk told Tesla executives via email that he wanted to cut <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/elon-musk-10-percent-cut-tesla-jobs-bad-feeling-economy-2022-6?r=US&amp;IR=T">10% of Tesla's workforce</a>. P. Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR). This comes on the backdrop of global layoffs across the company offices. As many as 3,700 Uber employees lost their jobs in wake of the coronavirus pandemic. On May 13, the company told its employees that “today will be your last working day with Uber,” over a Zoom call, IANS reported. A placement head at a top B-school told ET Uber had informed the institute that offers were being revoked. “Students across <a href="https://m.economictimes.com/topic/IIM">IIM</a> Lucknow, IIM Kozhikode, IIM Calcutta, MDI, SPJIMR have been affected,” ET reported citing the placement head from a top b-school. Several companies have rescinded job offers made to the fresh graduates.That leaves students of premier IIMs and other b-schools that secured thousands of offers, in dire straits. It does not help that most of them bagged ‘above-average salary packages’ this placement season. Most of the recruits were top-notch consulting firms, multinational companies, tech majors and more. Lately, the IIMs have been dealing with last minute withdrawals from these high profile recruiters. IIM Bangalore earlier said that it will now reach out to those recruiters who had shown interest in hiring from the top institute earlier but were not a part of the placement drive — to check if they are still willing to hire candidates. At IIM Calcutta, nearly four companies have revoked the job offers and summer internships so far, affecting over 12 students from the current academic year. On the other hand, IITs — where students bagged job offers as high as ₹10 million from Uber — have not been notified of any such decision. The engineering institutions are now considering hosting another placement drive in July-August as the number of offers being taken back have risen. A US-based consultancy firm recently repealed 11 job offers made to students at IIT Delhi, Madras and Kanpur campuses. The situation, the institutes are now figuring out ways to place the students whose offers have been revoked in other companies. They are even reaching out to their alumni network to place students in the less affected sectors. He'd just spoken at the Millennium Hilton at World Trade Center.At the time, Rascoff was the CEO of Hotwire, the travel website he'd cofounded just two years earlier.As he wrestled with the eerie feeling that he'd narrowly escaped his own demise, Rascoff learned that he'd lost a family friend on the plane that crashed in Pennsylvania.What's more, tens of thousands of Rascoff's customers were now stranded across the globe, after having bought airline tickets and hotel reservations through Hotwire.But for Rascoff, now the CEO of real-estate website and app Zillow, that was hardly the worst of it. How I Did It</a>," Rascoff told Business Insider US editor-in-chief how he realized that Hotwire had sold plane tickets to some of the hijackers:"It wasn't the September 11 flights, it was the flights a couple of days earlier that put the team in place in Bangor, Maine, and then they flew from Bangor to Logan. I think the way we found out about it was the FBI told us, they came knocking, I think, probably that day or within a couple of days."And it cast this really awful shadow of culpability over the company. So as we were struggling with dislocated customers, employees who we weren't sure of their location, and then there's the shadow of this weird connection to the actual tragedy itself."Because relatively few people traveled in the months following the tragedy, Hotwire ended up conducting "significant layoffs."
