Domestic mobile manufacturer Lava on Thursday launched a new feature phone Pulse with a heart rate and <keyword id="9793593" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="blood-pressure-sensor">blood pressure sensor</keyword> for Rs 1,599. The handset is available online on Amazon, Flipkart and retail stores in rose gold colour. "As an Indian brand, it is our constant endeavour to provide meaningful solutions to our customers, especially in the current anxious environment,'' Tejinder Singh, Head Product, Lava International, said in a statement. <keyword id="9792558" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="lava-pulse">Lava Pulse</keyword> comes with a 2.4-inch display and supports stereo sound. It features a sturdy polycarbonate body and has an expandable memory of up to 32GB and features wireless FM with recording and dual SIM support. The handset houses an 1800mAh battery supported with super battery mode, which aims to last up to six days on a single charge. "The phone is Military Grade certified which means that the users don't have to worry about the minor wear and tear, if the phone gets dropped," the company said. The phone provides a provision of auto call recording and enables users to type in seven languages, including English, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Gujarati and Punjabi. In November 2013, a seafloor volcano in the western Pacific Ocean spewed enough material to rise above the water line. The new island, or Niijima, sprouted just 500 meters from Nishino-shima, another volcanic island that had last erupted and expanded in 1973-74. Four months later, the new and the old are <a href="http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/NaturalHazards/view.php?id=82718">now one island,</a> and the volcanic eruption shows no sign of abating.
On March 30, 2014, the Operational Land Imager on the Landsat 8 satellite captured this image of Nishino-shima, which sits about 1,000 kilometers (600 miles) south of Tokyo in the Ogasawara Island chain (approximately 27°14' North, 140°52' East). The enlarged inset photo includes a white outline depicting the extent of the new island on December 30, 2013.
The Niijima portion of the island is now larger than the original Nishino-shima, and the merged island is slightly more than 1,000 meters across. Two cones have formed around the main vents and stand more than 60 meters above sea level, triple the highest point of the island in December. Volcanic lava flows are reported to be most active now on the south end of the island. Volcanologist and blogger <a href="http://www.wired.com/2013/12/continuing-eruption-at-nishinoshima-joins-two-islands/">Erik Klemetti</a> noted earlier in 2014: "This is a great example of how volcanic islands like this in the Bonin Islands grow over hundreds to thousands of eruptions."
A plume of volcanic gas, steam, and ash rises from the island. Tiny particles in the plume are seeding the formation of fluffy cumulus clouds. The intermittent, pulsing shape of the cloud stream might be a reflection of the volcanic eruption itself. Strombolian explosions are essentially bubbles of lava and gas rising from Earth's interior in pulses. Underwater, sediment appears to be stirred up in a green plume that stretches eastward from the island.

A New Island Off The Japanese Coast Is Growing Like Crazy

The phenomenon, a mystery until now, prevented scientists from measuring the length of a day on <keyword id="12593808" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="saturn" source="Orion">Saturn</keyword> for decades.Since clouds move on their own, looking at a gas planet from afar won't tell you how fast it spins. Scientists instead measure the magnetic field, which is rooted deep in the planet's core. But when <keyword id="6360409" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="nasa" source="Orion">NASA</keyword>'s <keyword id="13007169" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="cassini" source="Orion">Cassini</keyword> probe reached Saturn in 2004, scientists were surprised to find that the rate of radio pulses from the planet's magnetic field had changed since NASA's Voyager 2 mission flew past it in 1981."The magnetic field and radio emissions from it usually act like a lighthouse," meaning the radio bursts come in regular pulses, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/astronomer-animations-reveal-solar-system-physics-2021-10">James O'Donoghue</a>, a planetary scientist at the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency and coauthor on the new study, told Insider.<div type="image" title="saturn north pole spinning twin vortexes animation" height="360" width="640" msid="89462706" hostid="261"></div>"For Saturn, this rotation period has weirdly drifted over time, confusing the heck out of everyone," he added. "Even weirder, the rotation period of the planet has drifted independently in the north and the south."It was unlikely that Saturn was spinning at different speeds during different seasons, or that its northern half was spinning at a different speed than its southern half. But something had to be dragging on the magnetic field between Saturn's surface and the NASA spacecraft.During <a href="https://le.ac.uk/news/2022/february/saturn-aurorae">late-night discussions</a>, scientists tossed around theories. Maybe Saturn's magnetic field slowed down as it passed through lava and gasses erupting from volcanoes on its moon Enceladus. Or maybe the thick methane atmosphere of the moon Titan — or Saturn's rings themselves — could be the culprits.All those theories turned out to be wrong. Electrically charged <keyword id="11986030" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="wind" source="Orion">wind</keyword> was fueling Saturn's auroras and dragging its magnetic field all along, according to the new <a href="https://agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1029/2021GL096492">study</a>, which was published in the February issue of the Geophysical Research Letters.<h2>Saturn has the first wind-driven <keyword id="12189643" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="aurora" source="Orion">aurora</keyword> borealis</h2><div type="image" title="saturn" height="1110" width="1480" msid="89462707" hostid="261"></div>Scientists eventually figured out how to measure Saturn's spin without the help of its magnetic field. They studied slight changes in the gravitational pull the planet exerts on its rings. In 2019, they determined that Saturn rotates every 10 hours, 33 minutes, and 38 seconds.But the mystery of the changing magnetic field remained.While scientists had previously theorized that a powerful double-vortex polar weather pattern could be the culprit behind Saturn's moving magnetic lines, the new study is the first evidence supporting the idea.To test the theory, University of Leicester researchers studied Saturn's aurora from Hawaii's Keck Observatory throughout the summer of 2017, using infrared light. Most <keyword id="11910186" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="planets" source="Orion">planets</keyword>, including Earth, get their auroras from electrically charged particles in space — either from the sun or from nearby <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/space-lava-from-moon-volcanoes-creates-jupiters-powerful-aurora-lights-2022-2">moon volcanoes</a>. Those particles get captured by the planet's magnetic field and channeled toward the poles, where they interact with gases in the atmosphere to create colorful dancing lights.In Saturn's case, winds in the upper atmosphere, laden with electrically charged ions, are creating some of that interaction. The researchers tracked the movements of a hydrogen ion in the planet's upper atmosphere and found it was moving in twin vortexes — exactly as the weather-pattern theory predicted."This new paper finally shows what the bug was," O'Donoghue said.

Astronomers discover whirling electric winds at Saturn's north pole, solving a decades-old NASA mystery

I monitored my shortness of breath, wondering if this was the beginning of an improbably severe bout of <keyword id="8763838" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="covid-19">COVID-19</keyword>. I was prepared to head to the hospital, but wasn't sure yet if I should go. My roommate handed me a thermos filled with apple-cinnamon tea while I talked to my dad and pediatrician. Both told me not to go just yet. <div type="image" title="coronavirus new york ambulance hospital" height="3358" width="4477" msid="75562084" hostid="261"></div>Luckily, after waiting it out, I didn't end up in the hospital. But as a 24-year-old non-smoker with no pre-existing medical conditions, it seemed unthinkable that I would have coronavirus symptoms for almost two weeks and even come close to that. While I suspected I might contract COVID-19 at some point due to the nature of my job, I never thought the symptoms would be as severe as they were that day. It was the scariest moment of my life. <h2>Almost exactly one week before, coronavirus symptoms hit me suddenly</h2>On March 31, I was working on <a href="https://nypost.com/2020/03/31/real-estate-manager-gives-free-rent-to-nyc-pizzeria-feeding-hospitals/">three</a> <a href="https://nypost.com/2020/04/01/a-look-inside-an-nyc-hospital-amid-the-coronavirus-crisis/">stories</a> <a href="https://nypost.com/2020/04/01/nyc-hospital-worker-beats-coronavirus-and-returns-to-work/">related</a> to the coronavirus for the New York Post. I work part-time, mostly as a "runner" — tabloidspeak for a reporter who spends their time in the field, feeding information, color, and quotes back to beat reporters and writers in the office.That day, at about 9:40 a.m., before a doctor shepherded myself and a photographer through Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, a staffer in the lobby took my temperature. It was 98.4 degrees, so I was allowed to enter the hospital, all while wearing a surgical mask and following the lead of a top doctor at the hospital. I saw listless and unconscious COVID-19 patients hooked up to oxygen masks and on ventilators, a hurried trauma center, and a white tent with gray floors where potential coronavirus patients awaited tests for the virus. First, I noticed the headache, then the fever, followed by a terrifying sensation in my lungs. A few people have half-jokingly said in recent weeks that they're not sure if what they're feeling in their chest is anxiety about the coronavirus or an early sign they have it. For me, anxiety feels like a hunger in my chest; this discomfort, on the other hand, felt like lava had been poured down my throat and settled in my lungs. A fever and headache I could deal with — indeed, they both subsided after a few days of frequent Tylenol doses — but the burning in my lungs signaled that I was in for a hard week or two. If those were my only symptoms, I would have been happy, relatively speaking. But soon, I'd also have a fluctuating heartbeat and nausea. I started panting after walking briskly across the room. I developed a sore throat, a new tightness in my chest that felt different from the lava lungs, and severe fatigue.Some days, I struggled to stay alert on the couch after I ate anything of any quantity. One day, it took me an hour to muster the energy to brush my teeth before bed.Late into my two-week quarantine, I lost my sense of smell, taste, appetite, and the energy to cook the Passover meal I had planned.<div type="image" title="medical coronavirus flu virus nyc street face mask gloves covid19 stores shut down closed restaurants social distancing delivery cox 114" height="1667" width="2223" msid="75562093" hostid="261"></div>At one point, my heart jumped as high as 110 beats per minute, only to climb down to the low fifties within the hour — all while sitting in bed. (The <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/27/health/coronavirus-cardiac-heart-attacks.html">virus-induced heart </a>symptom isn't talked about quite as much, but it was the second-most frightening one for me, behind the shortness of breath.) My Maimonides visit wasn't my first visit to a hospital for a coronavirus story, and it was unlikely I contracted the coronavirus at the medical center given how soon after the visit I noticed my symptoms, two doctors told me later. (I eventually got tested, but there was an accident at the lab, so I never received my results.) A few days earlier, on March 27, I had — while wearing a surgical mask and keeping my distance from people — spoken to nurses and medics who had been inside the hard-hit Elmhurst Hospital for a <a href="https://nypost.com/2020/03/27/coronavirus-in-ny-overcrowding-shortages-mount-at-hard-hit-elmhurst-hospital/">story</a>. Maybe I got it outside the hospital, or maybe it was an Uber or subway ride some other time in March. Maybe it was just while talking to someone on the street. I'll never know. <h2>In retrospect, the preparations I made weren't enough</h2>In some ways, it was comforting to know I had likely contracted the virus while playing a part in informing people about the coronavirus pandemic. But in truth, given how exposed I was to it on a regular basis, I should have prepared far more extensively and meticulously than I did. I bought aspirin and enough food for a small army. That was the extent of my preparation. If I were to go back in time to early March, I would have bought a few other things: a pulse oximeter to check my oxygen levels and heart rate; Pepto Bismol for my stomach, Tums for my heartburn; Tylenol for the headache and fever; Mucinex for the sore throat; and a functioning thermometer.<div type="image" title="medical medication medicine pharmacy pharmaceutical drugs pills vitamins cox prescription FDA over the counter OTC" height="1667" width="2223" msid="75562100" hostid="261"></div>I also made the mistake of mostly buying things I needed to cook — a task that proved exceedingly difficult for about five days of the illness. In retrospect, I wish I'd had more microwavable meals, and simple foods like bagels.In a strange twist, Gatorade, one item I was sure would help, turned out to do the opposite. I knew I needed things that would both hydrate me and provide calories while I had little appetite. While it did both those things, it also gave me heartburn.I also quickly understood the importance of wearing a mask to stop the spread. In the weeks after I recovered, it became the norm to wear some sort of face covering while outside in New York. But even if you live in one of the localities where this isn't yet the guidance, I suggest finding or purchasing something to cover your mouth and nose. <h2>The symptoms may differ from person to person, but it's vital to take the coronavirus seriously and prepare for it</h2>One of the most frustrating experiences was the fact that my symptoms came and went. The virus plays tricks with your mind: You may think your <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/may/01/lingering-and-painful-long-and-unclear-road-to-coronavirus-recovery-long-lasting-symptoms">symptoms have resolved</a>, only to find that your fever, fatigue, or sore throat make an unwelcome <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/what-its-like-to-experience-a-coronavirus-second-week-crash-2020-4">reappearance</a> the next morning. I thought I was in the clear twice: once, two days after I started feeling symptoms, while my medicated fever was under 99 degrees; the other on the day before I struggled to get out of bed in the morning. Even if you — like me — are a 24-year-old who exercises regularly, doesn't smoke, and counts "consumes too much aspartame" as his worst vice, you might not have a remotely similar experience to mine. I didn't go to the hospital that night. My shortness of breath subsided and subsequently vanished, and I was able to work from home for most of the more than two weeks I stayed inside. I am young, healthy, insured, and informed about the virus, but I still had a miserable and scary experience. Saudi Arabia is the de facto leader. OPEC Plus typically includes OPEC countries, plus Russia and a handful of other nations that <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2016/12/10/business/russia-opec-saudi-arabia-cut-oil-output.html">agreed to cuts back in 2016</a>. <h2><a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/goldman-sachs-steep-oil-cuts-wont-reverse-oil-price-meltdown-2020-4">That doesn't mean the oil price will bounce back </a></h2>In fact, it's likely to slip even further, unless other countries like the US and Canada also agree to deep cuts. <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/goldman-sachs-steep-oil-cuts-wont-reverse-oil-price-meltdown-2020-4">That's according to Goldman Sachs</a>. <ul><li>In a note Thursday, it said that a 10-million-barrel cut isn't enough to reverse the price meltdown. </li><li>"While the prospect of a deal can support prices near current levels in coming days, we believe this support will soon give way to lower prices," the bank's analysts wrote. </li><li>Why? Because of an epic demand collapse. It's on the scale of 22-35 million barrels of oil per day - a far cry from 10 million barrels. </li></ul><h2>The million-dollar question</h2>When will prices rebound? <ul><li>Goldman says they'll first fall below current levels, and then <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/goldman-sachs-steep-oil-cuts-wont-reverse-oil-price-meltdown-2020-4">gradually recover to about $40 a barrel in October</a> "as inventories start to wind down."</li></ul>But: There's still a ton of uncertainty. <ul><li>G20 energy ministers are meeting on Friday to discuss restabilizing the oil market. </li><li><a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-04-09/opec-agrees-on-deep-oil-output-cuts-to-fight-market-slump">Bloomberg reports</a> that could lead to an additional supply cut of 5 million bpd.</li></ul><h2><a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/gv-backed-orbital-insights-images-from-space-track-oil-storage-2020-4">Measuring shadows from space to track the oil glut </a></h2>It sounds like the last bullet in a long list of ideas for how to measure the world's oil supply. But it's what the startup Orbital Insight is doing - and it apparently works. Or at least well-enough to have Wall Street analysts as clients and Alphabet's GV, Goldman Sachs, and Chevron as investors.
