The Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA), a global standards body advancing transparency online through certifying the provenance of digital content, on Friday announced that <keyword id="19902762" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="google" source="keywords">Google</keyword> has joined as a steering committee member and support <keyword id="20518759" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="content-credentials" source="keywords">Content Credentials</keyword> to bring transparency to digital content in the AI era. Google will collaborate with other steering committee members like Adobe, BBC, Intel, Microsoft, <keyword id="19963754" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="publicis-groupe" source="keywords">Publicis Groupe</keyword>, Sony, and Truepic to develop the technical standard for Content Credentials. Content Credentials is the C2PA's technical standard for tamper-resistant metadata that can be attached to digital content, showing how and when the content was created or modified. "In the critical context of this year's global elections where the threat of misinformation looms larger than ever, the urgency to increase trust in the digital ecosystem has never been more pressing," <keyword id="20518761" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="dana-rao" source="keywords">Dana Rao</keyword>, General Counsel and Chief Trust Officer, Adobe and Co-founder of the C2PA, said in a statement. "Google's membership will help accelerate the adoption of Content Credentials everywhere, from content creation to consumption," he added. Additionally, Google's participation, which includes YouTube, will help increase awareness of Content Credentials as a key resource to help people understand the content they're viewing and trust the digital ecosystem. "At Google, a critical part of our responsible approach to AI involves working with others in the industry to help increase transparency around digital content," said <keyword id="20518760" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="laurie-richardson" source="keywords">Laurie Richardson</keyword>, VP of Trust and Safety at Google. "It builds on our work in this space -- including Google DeepMind's SynthID, Search's About this Image and YouTube's labels denoting content that is altered or synthetic -- to provide important context to people, helping them make more informed decisions," she added. Content Credentials are essentially a "nutrition label" for digital content -- showing when a piece of content is created and modified. Content Credentials are free, open-source technology leveraging the C2PA open technical standard that anyone can incorporate into their own products and platforms. Google joins global coalition to bring transparency to digital content in AI era

Lubin/HBOSam Richardson as Richard Splett in "Veep."Sam Richardson quickly became a fan favorite on the HBO series "Veep" when he came on in season three as Richard Splett, the good-natured campaign aide to Selina Meyer (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) who seems to be unfazed by all the insulting and backstabbing that goes on around him.Richardson has since become a series regular on the show. Last season, Richard hilariously assisted Jonah Ryan's (Timothy Simons) congressional campaign, and in the premiere episode of season six (which aired Sunday), we now find him as the chief of staff to now ex-president Meyer, who's trying to figure out her next move.Richard is ready with incredible responses for the rest of the cast's sarcastic style, taking every single outlandish comment at face value and responding with a monotone, sincere response that has made the character so memorable.Richardson talked to Business Insider about Richard's new position on the show, how pulling off the perfect Richard response is harder than it looks, and why it's challenging for him to go into an Apple store anymore. Jason Guerrasio: You've said in the past that Richard is the only character in the "Veep" universe that isn't working an angle. But do you think he has aspirations beyond what he's doing?Sam Richardson: I don't know. I think he would be happy to go up or down the ladder. I think if he got bumped down to something else he would be like, "Well, at least I have experience at this." And if he goes up he would be, "Oh, okay. Well, a new challenge." So the thing with Richard is he has no specific ambition. It's like, he has two doctorates, but he doesn't seek out to follow those paths. He just does whatever he flows to.Guerrasio: In the first episode of the new season, Richard has some amazing responses to things Selina says. She says she should get a spot on Showtime at the Apollo, and Richard says, "I'll check on that." Or when she talks about getting food stamps, he says, "I'll look into an application." The delivery is crucial. It always seems to be a beat after Selina says it. Do you practice that delivery?Richardson: Part of what Richard does is there's no time to filter for him. So everything is at face value. With his responses he's saying it before even thinking about what was said. I have worked mostly with Tim Simons but I think Julia and I have a rhythm that we can play off of. So whatever is in the script, we can add that timing.HBO"Veep."Guerrasio: Is that timing developed at the table read or not until you are about to shoot?Richardson: The table read gives you an idea of what the jokes are. It's more, "Let's see the jokes work," so that timing doesn't actually come in until you're doing it [on set].Guerrasio: And when it comes to nailing the jokes, do you guys just do a couple of takes?Richardson: We'll do a bunch of takes because along with shooting all the angles, the scenes can be long and the problem I have is I've made this character speak so quickly that I'll marble-mouth sometimes some of those bits. So it takes a few to get it where it needs to go.Guerrasio: How has the Richard character evolved? Did you play him differently when you auditioned?Richardson: When I went in to audition I think I played him, not wily, but I played him like he was covering his own a-- a little bit. Just a touch more of that. From the audition I saw him as this person who was a step behind but is fortunate enough to be on the same page as everyone else. If that makes sense.Guerrasio: Well if I had never seen the character before, that wouldn't. Richardson: [Laughs]Guerrasio: But when you see the character on the show it makes total sense. Richardson: Yeah. Honestly, we never really had many conversations about him early on. When I first came on the show I was a one-episode guest. So at the table read I just did my interpretation. Then when we improvised some of the scenes I just played what I thought felt right. Little quips here and there. And the writers and [series creator] Armando [Iannucci], they liked that direction and then wrote those things into the script. I think we're all in agreement on what Richard is like.Guerrasio: Is there still an aspect of doing the Richard character or being on this show that's the most challenging for you? That you will always have to work on no matter how long you are on it?Richardson: The pattern that Richard speaks in. Specific details that he's got to say. And I have really set myself up because everything I'm saying is so fast already that when I have to say the names of magazines, or a kind of list of things I have to say it's like, "Okay, you've done this to yourself, Sam." That's really the challenge, keeping up with the rhythm of speak that Richard has.Guerrasio: Give me your craziest fan experience.Richardson: When I wear glasses it happens often. And I'm always recognized when I go to the Apple store. It's always a black guy wearing glasses. It's like, "Hey man, love you on the show." [Laughs] Every time. I'm like, okay, guess this is my audience.Comedy Central"Detroiters."Guerrasio: You are also the star on the new Comedy Central series "Detroiters," which you cocreated. Is that your first time writing a series as opposed to bits?Richardson: It is.Guerrasio: What's that been like?Richardson: It's been a learning experience, for sure. Joe Kelly, who is another cocreator and writer on the show, has written for sitcoms before, so we follow his guidance on narrative structure and how to piece together a half-hour TV show. It's been fun to see that and then do our own thing off of that. Our instinct is funny first, but obviously you also have to tell a story. And we're from Detroit so we're telling the story while also giving the city a shoutout.Guerrasio: And then for you, it was a conscious decision to make sure your character doesn't wear glasses and speaks a different way from Richard.Richardson: Yes, exactly. And it's fun to do new things. And I hope I get to continue to do that.Guerrasio: So last question: Do you have a favorite Richard line so far?Richardson: I think it's when he <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YzBtCEI3O40" target="_blank">introduced himself to Tom James</a> [Hugh Laurie] and he says, "I'm Richard T. Splett. I don't know why I said 'T' - my middle name is John." The emerging technology leaders featured on Insider's annual "100 People Transforming Business" list have stepped up to do just that.The global economy spent the first months of the year rebounding from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic — right before markets started to brace for a recession.That's led to layoffs across the tech sector, even as consumers and advertisers alike show signs of cutting spending. At the same time, it's proved to be a year rife with opportunities for those who can help their customers ride the wave and be productive without distractions.It's a tough situation to manage. But these leaders have pulled through with the help of customer data, feedback from users, and maybe just a bit of luck. <h2>Workers want tools to make their jobs easier</h2>In 2020 and 2021, tools for remote work dominated the workplace. That <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/100-people-transforming-business-presents-emerging-technology-leaders-2021-11">shifted more firmly to a hybrid model</a> as workers returned to the office, at least part time. That takes us to 2022, when businesses have relied heavily on productivity and work-management tools to keep everything from anywhere organized.The productivity tool Notion went viral this year, as it offers a way for both businesses and individual consumers to organize their lives. By using planning and collaboration tools internally, Notion has learned how to scale to support a massive influx of users, its chief operating officer, Akshay Kothari, said.At the same time, the online-whiteboard platform Miro has risen to prominence. Virtual-whiteboard platforms are seen as an essential workplace tool that some predict are <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/productivity-collaboration-startups-notion-figma-calendly-survive-pandemic-remote-work-2022-7">set to stay a popular tool in business tech</a>."It's been a balance between following a proven playbook for managing hypergrowth and also trying to figure things out as we go," Andrey Khusid, the CEO and founder of Miro, told Insider.Beyond the world of software, companies are trying to ride the bleeding edge by installing smart sensors and other internet-connected devices to track metrics like office attendance. Chris LaPré, the head of technology at the Connectivity Standards Alliance, is leading the charge to create industrywide standards for the so-called Internet of Things, promoting a protocol called Matter that promises to unite Apple, Amazon, Google, and other manufacturers of IoT devices under one set of guidelines.<h2>Tech transparency becomes a talking point across platforms</h2>At home, this year showed that tech consumers wanted more transparency. And the transformers on Insider's list are spearheading ways to improve that.That's clear with BeReal CEO Alexis Barreyat's approach to social media. The platform focuses on getting users to share what they're seeing at a given moment with friends. It's a direct opposition to the edited look into people's lives on other platforms, which have recently faced increased criticism. Elsewhere, YouTube's head of business, Mary Ellen Coe, is tasked with being on the cutting edge of what keeps end users and creators engaged. The site is testing products to compete with the short-form-video platform TikTok.As these platforms grow their influence, however, the risk of misinformation grows with them. That's why companies like Google and Adobe have been stepping up their efforts to fight it, especially in the run-up to the US midterm elections on Tuesday."If something can be faked, then everything can be questioned," Andy Parsons, the senior director of the Content Authenticity Initiative at Adobe, said. "We have to not detect what's fake, but we need to prove what's true."And under its vice president of trust and safety, Laurie Richardson, Google has boosted its efforts to make election information more accessible. That transparency extends to the workers behind the tech. In response to economic uncertainty and other business challenges, labor organizers like Jessica Gonzalez at CODE-CWA are working to bring unionization to more tech firms. "I was in a space where I was like, 'Oh, my gosh, I have almost 10 years in this industry, and it's the same,'" Gonzalez told Insider. "I was really tired. And so I was like, 'OK, I'm going to be someone who helps the movement.'"<h2>Founders and investors solving real problems rule the startup world</h2>In the startup world, wearable technology is having a moment. But venture capitalists are focusing on investing in firms with founders they believe in."Having been an immigrant twice now," Adeyemi Ajao, a cofounder and managing partner at Base10 Partners, told Insider, "it's always given me a lot of empathy for people who feel like the 'other.' It has been helpful for me as an investor and as an entrepreneur."When it comes to products taking off, Insider selected transformers that developed products this year that are close to problems they experienced firsthand.Take, for example, Aly Orady, the CEO and founder at Tonal, which builds a smart home gym. It's a new approach to working out at home that stemmed from the founder's own troubles getting to the gym, according to Orady. And GraphWear Technologies' cofounder and CEO, Rajatesh Gudibande, also made the list for his commitment to accessible health devices. "I saw that the logistics of healthcare were clunky, and so I set out to make a change," Gudibande told <a href="https://medium.com/authority-magazine/the-future-is-now-rajatesh-gudibande-of-graphwear-on-how-their-technological-innovation-will-shake-f25e8966df43">Authority Magazine</a> last year.
