NEW DELHI: Amid the industry's concerns over less-than-expected price cuts, Trai chairman PD Vaghela on Tuesday asserted that the regulator's recommendations of a 39 per cent drop in <keyword id="804714" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="spectrum-prices" source="Orion">spectrum prices</keyword> are rational, attractive and backed by "scientific calculations". Vaghela told PTI that in view of the huge market potential of 5G, he is confident that the telecom industry will actively take part in the auction. The chairman expressed hope that the recommended reserve prices will attract bidders in the forthcoming auction. He also said that the ease of doing business, extensive stakeholder inputs, and facilitating the proliferation of 5G in the country have been the most important drivers for Trai's latest stance. Setting the stage for the rollout of 5G services, telecom regulator Trai on Monday recommended a mega auction plan valued at over Rs 7.5 lakh crore at the base price across multiple bands for radiowaves allocated over 30 years. Overall, the <keyword id="12394776" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="telecom-regulatory-authority-of" source="Orion">Telecom Regulatory Authority of</keyword> <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword> (Trai) recommended about a 39 per cent reduction in the reserve or floor price for the sale of spectrum for mobile services, including the latest 5G offering, as it looked to match revenue expectations with the industry's paying capacity. Industry body COAI, however, has expressed deep disappointment over Trai's 5G recommendations, and termed the spectrum pricing suggested by the regulator as "too high". Given the recent reforms for the telecom sector announced by the government, these recommendations are "one step backwards than forward" towards building a digitally connected India, COAI claimed. COAI argued that the industry had recommended 90 per cent lower prices, and to see only about 35-40 per cent reduction recommended in prices "is deeply disappointing". Asked about the industry's views on less than expected price cuts, Vaghela in an interview said the regulator's recommendations of a 39 per cent drop in spectrum prices are backed by "scientific calculations". "Trai takes the business of calculation of valuation seriously, and on that basis, we have arrived at rational reserve prices. The prices we have given have been set at 70 per cent of valuation," he said. Taking off from the telecom department's reference seeking auction-related recommendations, Trai considered various aspects like ease of doing business, stakeholder inputs and most importantly, the proliferation of 5G and use cases in the country to ensure that economic benefits of technology are derived by all sections of society, he said. "If you see our recommendations on surrender fee, easy and flexible payment options, and leasing of spectrum for private networks, these are all aimed at ease of doing business and attracting investment into the telecom sector," Vaghela said. While auctions and network rollout are important considerations, "as a country, we need to facilitate penetration of 5G based technologies and use cases", Vaghela said. "A complete ecosystem needs to be created towards this objective," he said. "So, we have recommended action plans for vertical sectors, i.e., industry sectors and social sectors ...that they should be actively preparing plans for adopting 5G applications. Stakeholders like farmers, fishermen, students, MSMEs etc need to be further empowered to be part of the digital economy," Vaghela added. 5G technology once implemented should create demand for telecom products, thereby improving revenue streams for telecom service providers, and should also help consumers and the public at large to become a part of the mainstream digital economy, he noted. "India should reap the benefits of technologies and applications, which are based on 5G," the Trai chief said. On whether the industry has the paying capacity, given that over one lakh <keyword id="13265908" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="megahertz" source="Orion">megahertz</keyword> of spectrum worth over Rs 5 lakh crore at reserve price will be on the block (for 20-year allocation), Vaghela said, "With the attractive reserve prices recommended, flexible payment options offered, easy spectrum surrender conditions, recommendations on leasing etc., the forthcoming auction will surely be attractive for the investors". The Indian economy is growing, technology adoption is being ramped up by different vertical sectors and the market for telecom products is expanding at a rapid pace, he noted. "In view of the huge market potential of 5G, I am sure that the telecom industry will actively take part in the auction," he said. Recommended spectrum prices are backed by scientific calculations, says Trai chief Vaghela

<keyword id="6354287" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="bharti-airtel">Bharti Airtel</keyword> on Tuesday announced an agreement with <keyword id="1543410" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Reliance-Jio-Infocomm">Reliance Jio Infocomm</keyword> to transfer the 'Right to Use' of <keyword id="15491" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Airtel">Airtel</keyword>'s 800 MHz spectrum in Andhra Pradesh (3.75 MHz), Delhi (1.25 MHz) and Mumbai (2.50 MHz) to <keyword id="2003276" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jio">Jio</keyword>. The agreement is subject to statutory approvals, Airtel said in a statement. Through this agreement, Airtel will receive a consideration of ₹1,037.6 crore from Jio for the proposed transfer. In addition, Jio will assume future liabilities of ₹459 crore relating to the spectrum. Gopal Vittal, MD &amp; CEO (India and South Asia), Bharti Airtel said: "The sale of the 800 MHz blocks in these three circles has enabled us to unlock value from spectrum that was unutilised. This is aligned to our overall network strategy." In a statement, Jio said that the trading agreement is in accordance with the spectrum trading guidelines issued by the <keyword id="116246" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Department-of-Telecommunications">Department of Telecommunications</keyword>. It said that with this development, <keyword id="6354504" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="reliance-jio">Reliance Jio</keyword> will have '2X15MHz' of spectrum in the 800MHz band in Mumbai circle and '2X10MHz' of spectrum in the 800MHz band in Andhra Pradesh and Delhi circles, thereby further consolidating its spectrum footprint in these circles. "With the enhanced spectrum footprint, especially contiguous spectrum, and superior infrastructure deployed, RJIL has further increased its network capacity," Jio said. Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio acquires 800 MHz spectrum from Airtel for ₹1037.6 crore

Bharti Airtel on Friday announced the closure of its agreement with Reliance Jio Infocomm to transfer the 'Right to Use' of Airtel's 800 MHz spectrum in three circles to the Mukesh Ambani-led firm. Airtel said in a statement it has received Rs 1,004.8 crore (net of tax) from Jio for the proposed transfer. Besides this, Jio will assume future liabilities of Rs 469.3 crore relating to the spectrum, the statement added. In a late evening statement, Jio said: "With this trading of right to use spectrum, RJIL will have 800 MHz band spectrum footprint of 2 x 15MHz in Mumbai circle and 2 x 10 MHz each in Andhra Pradesh and Delhi circles, thereby further enhancing network experience of its customers." Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd (RJIL) said it has paid total consideration of Rs 1,183.3 crore (inclusive of taxes) to Bharti Airtel and has assumed deferred payment liability with net present value of Rs 469.3 crore. Jio's pact with Airtel to buy the spectrum in 800 MHz band was announced in April this year and marked the first such deal between the two telecom giants. Airwaves come in different bands which support different propagation characteristics for the transmission of voice and data. For instance, lower bands like 800 MHz and 900 MHz support good indoor coverage while higher bands like 2300 MHz have a good carrying capacity. The airwaves are also sold in quantities measured as MHz. Spectrum auctions, held earlier this year, had raked in winning bids of over Rs 77,800 crore for 855.6 MHz of spectrum. Billionaire <keyword id="3820" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mukesh-Ambani">Mukesh Ambani</keyword>'s Reliance Jio spent the most in the auction, picking up 488.35 MHz spectrum in bands such as 800 MHz, 1800 MHz and 2300 MHz for over Rs 57,100 crore. In the auction, Bharti Airtel won the right to use spectrum, the total value of which is about Rs 18,700 crore. For <keyword id="1553175" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vodafone-Idea">Vodafone Idea</keyword>, the value of spectrum bought in auctions was pegged at Rs 1,993.4 crore. There were no takers for spectrum in 700 MHz and 2500 MHz bands in the last auctions. As per latest data available from telecom regulator Trai, the Indian telecom market had presented a picture of sharp contrast in May with Bharti Airtel losing a staggering 46.13 lakh wireless subscribers even as rival Reliance Jio added 35.54 lakh mobile users. Overall, the Indian mobile market shed 62.7 lakh users in May. In fact, both Airtel and Vodafone Idea had suffered massive subscriber losses in the month. Airtel lost 46.13 lakh mobile users and ended the month with a subscriber base of 34.8 crore. Vodafone Idea -- which is currently in the grip of an existential crisis -- had seen its mobile subscriber base shrink by 42.8 lakh users in May, to 27.7 crore users. Billionaire <keyword id="6354955" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kumar-Mangalam-Birla">Kumar Mangalam Birla</keyword> recently stepped down as chairman of Vodafone Idea Ltd, within two months of offering to hand over the Aditya Birla Group's stake in the debt-laden telco to the government, in a bid to avert a crisis for the telecom company. The Indian govt is getting ready to hold the biggest ever <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=spectrum+auction&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">spectrum auction</a> the country has ever seen- atleast with the amount of spectrum put under the hammer! Latest report from <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=HSBC+Global+Research&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">HSBC Global Research</a> point out that govt is unlikely to get the revenue it is expecting from this massive sale of airwaves. Cabinet has finally approved sale of spectrum in frequencies including 1800mhz, 2100mhz, 800mhz and for the first time the premium LTE band, 700mhz band. 
 
Govt expects to earn $83bn if all spectrum put on auction is sold at base price. <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=HSBC+Global+Research&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">HSBC Global Research</a> in its reports suggests that the govt will be far from meeting its revenue expectation from the upcoming <keyword id="6462365" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="spectrum-auction">spectrum auction</keyword>. The report states that the govt will be able to achieve not more than $10-12bn from the sale of airwaves. Which means a lot of spectrum may remain unsold. 
 
The report says that data bands such as 700mhz, 2300mhz and 2500mhz may not find takers. However there could be good demand for 1800mhz, 2100mhz and operators could be interested in the LTE band 700mhz put on auction for the first time. 
 
While the issue of availability of spectrum has been resolved by the govt this time around by putting under the hammer 2200mhz spectrum, largest ever, the operators seem to have an issue with the pricing of spectrum particularly the 700mhz band. But now that the pricing has been finalized with a final stamp of approval from the cabinet operators are left with no choice but to –not bid if the price is not right!

Despite the fanfare, the Indian Govt won’t meet revenue
expectations from its biggest spectrum auction ever

New Delhi, Jul 20 () Reliance Jio has sought spectrum in certain frequencies from the Department of Telecom for holding trials of the latest 5G technology, according to sources. The company's wholly-owned US-based subsidiary Radisys has already started selling some of the 5G solutions to foreign companies. According to sources, Reliance Jio on July 17 requested for 800 megahertz of frequencies in the 26 gigahertz (Ghz) and 24 Ghz band as well as 100 Mhz in 3.5 GHz band for running field trials in "urban centres like Delhi and Mumbai". "Jio has said that high frequencies has been put to use in advance countries like the US, South Korea, Japan, Canada, the UK. They also want trails in these bands should start in India to make India "Aatmanirbhar". Government is open to the suggestion and trials. Already many trials are going on," an official source said. The company has sought spectrum frequencies between 26.5 - 29.5 Ghz and 24.25-27.5 Ghz band. The auction for these high frequency bands is expected to be held next year. UN body International Telecommunication Union approved 5G standards for 26 gigahertz band in November last year while the standards for other bands are yet to be decided. In its pitch for starting trials in higher spectrum band, Jio in the letter has said that the US, South Korea, Japan etc have started working in 28 Ghz band and some other countries in 26 Ghz band and therefore it wants to run trials of its 5G technology before selling it abroad. In the 43rd annual general meeting, Reliance Industries Limited Chairman Mukesh Ambani had said that Jio has designed and developed a complete 5G solution from scratch. "This will enable us to launch a world-class 5G service in India… using 100% home grown technologies and solutions. This Made-in-India 5G solution will be ready for trials as soon as 5G spectrum is available and can be ready for field deployment next year," Ambani had said. PRS ANZ MR

But since something will someday it's time to create a mechanism to use it. Maybe not Apple's preferred unlicensed mechanism," wireless consultant Steve Crowley told Business Insider in an email.&#xa0;"Regulation takes time, the standardization process takes time, product development takes time. It doesn't hurt to take the first step."The FCC took that first step earlier this year, by filing a notice inviting comment on its proposed rules, which is what Apple responded to. "Now, I realize that some are skeptical that this spectrum can be used productively," said FCC Chairman Ajit Pai in a statement <a href="https://www.fiercewireless.com/wireless/fcc-looks-to-unleash-spectrum-above-95-ghz">earlier this year</a>. "But the skeptics have been proven wrong before."The more spectrum that remains unlicensed, the more likely it is that Apple can experiment in those radio frequencies and build them into its technology. The spectrum used by cellular networks is licensed, for example, but Wi-Fi uses unlicensed spectrum, which enabled Apple to use it in innovative ways, such as for wireless speakers and network syncing.&#xa0;The FCC also makes money by auctioning licenses to specific bands of spectrum. And if FCC makes a new slice of spectrum unlicensed, that means Apple can access it for free.The question remains what it could be used for, but one possibility is those frequencies could be used for infrastructure to enable "5G," or the next generation of cellular networks. "I'd expect first uses of bands 95 GHz and above to be used for 5G small cell backhaul - interconnecting the millimeter wave cells connecting handsets, and fixed users, below 95 GHz," Crowley said.Currently, bands under study include the so-called W-band (92-114 GHz) and D-band (130-175 GHz), Crowley added.<h2>Apple's interest in millimeter wave</h2><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div></div></div>The filing is only the latest sign that Apple is currently experimenting with millimeter wave technologies, which are expected to be a big part of 5G networks.&#xa0;Last month, Apple <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/apple-deleted-job-listing-shows-plans-design-5g-modem-2018-4">pulled</a> a job listing off of its site for a "mmWave IC design engineer," which suggested it planned to build chips to work on 5G networks. Currently, Apple buys its modems from Qualcomm and Intel.&#xa0;Apple has been <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/apple-testing-5g-millimeter-wave-wireless-iphone-fcc-filing-2017-5">testing</a> millimeter wave technology in Cupertino, California since last May on the&#xa0;28 GHz and 39 GHz, bands that are lower than the ultra-high spectrum Apple commented on.&#xa0;Earlier this year, Apple applied to make both of its Cupertino, California headquarters into "innovation zones" which would enable it to run tests more easily without regulatory headaches and applications. Apple didn't respond to a request for comment.&#xa0;"Apple devices access spectrum in numerous licensed and unlicensed frequency bands. For example, iPhones use spectrum ranging from 13 megahertz (contactless payments via Apple Pay) to 5 gigahertz (802.11ac Wi-Fi with MIMO) and support more than 18 different LTE bands," according to the Apple application, which was also signed by&#xa0;Neumann, the senior Apple engineer.&#xa0;<a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/apple-5g-wireless-2017-7">Experts have said</a> that millimeter wave is only one technology that will make up the 5G standard, which is still being finalized. The big advantage to millimeter wave is that it can achieve very high data rates, with much more bandwidth than current cellular networks.Apple CEO Tim Cook has said that Apple wants to own&#xa0;<a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/apple-technology-tim-cook-doctrine-2018-4">all of its core technologies</a>- and that likely includes the modem chips that connect Apple devices to networks like those operated by Verizon and AT&amp;T. These latest developments are painting a very bleak outlook for the smart home market

As <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword> prepares for the 5G era, the installed base of smartphones with 5G capabilities crossed 5 crore in the country, a report showed on Friday. The 5G smartphone shipment share reached 29 per cent of overall shipments in the second quarter (Q2), which was the highest ever. "The 5G spectrum auction and commercial availability will accelerate 5G smartphone adoption among users," said research analyst <keyword id="325148" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="shilpi-jain" source="Orion">Shilpi Jain</keyword>. The government has reached new heights in introducing the 5G technology with an auction of over Rs 1.5 lakh crore for 5G spectrum. India's total smartphone installed base crossed 600 million (60 crore) during the April-June quarter as shipments grew 9 per cent (on-year) but fell 5 per cent (on-quarter) to reach almost 37 million units, according to latest research from Counterpoint's Market Monitor service. The annual growth was primarily driven by a lower base in Q2 2021 due to the second Covid-19 wave. The quarterly drop was due to macroeconomic headwinds affecting consumer demand. "Consumers are preferring to repair their device or buy a refurbished one rather than make a new purchase. This trend is more visible in the entry and budget segments. Due to this decline in demand, almost all the brands are facing inventory issues," said senior research analyst <keyword id="9638737" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="prachir-singh" source="Orion">Prachir Singh</keyword>. At the end of June, India's smartphone market was sitting on more than 10 weeks of inventory, more than double the normal inventory size. <keyword id="6354427" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="apple" source="Orion">Apple</keyword> grew 63 per cent (on-year) in Q2 driven by a smaller base in Q2 2021 due to the Covid second wave. It remained the top-selling brand in the ultra-premium segment. "The opening of its own e-store, <keyword id="6354606" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="iphone" source="Orion">iPhone</keyword> SE 2022 and offers on other models will further drive Apple's shipments in the coming quarters," the report mentioned. The smartphone retail ASP (average selling price) grew 10 per cent driven by an increasing share of the higher price segments. India's overall mobile handset market grew 6 per cent (on-year) but fell 9 per cent on quarterly basis. The feature phone market registered a decline of 17 per cent primarily due to the decline in consumer demand, the report mentioned. 5G-enabled smartphones in India cross the 5 crore mark ahead of commercial 5G rollout

Starting with a family, which had a dealership of Bajaj Auto's scooters, to becoming the owner of a household name in consumer appliances who could afford to have <keyword id="143" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="bollywood" source="Orion">Bollywood</keyword> superstar <keyword id="1671" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="shah-rukh-khan" source="Orion">Shah Rukh Khan</keyword> as the brand ambassador, <keyword id="15333" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="venugopal" source="Orion">Venugopal</keyword> <keyword id="18489" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="dhoot" source="Orion">Dhoot</keyword>'s is a story of an aggressive small town businessman's pursuit to be on the top. Now arrested in connection with the ICICI Bank loan fraud case, Venugopal Dhoot during his heydays was not the one to simply sit on small achievements like <keyword id="6354248" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="videocon" source="Orion">Videocon</keyword> becoming the largest television set manufacturer in India. The eldest son of late Nandlal Madhavlal Dhoot, who founded the <keyword id="6379256" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="videocon-group" source="Orion">Videocon Group</keyword> in 1984, Venugopal was largely responsible for driving the conglomerate to diversify into various verticals, such as oil and gas, real estate and retail, beyond its successful consumer electronics and home appliances business. Dhoot, the safari-suited businessman, was born into an agricultural family in Ahmednagar (Maharashtra), where his father had a cotton ginning mill and operated a wholesale grain trade. In 1982, when the public broadcaster Doordarshan began transmitting colour television programmes in India, it opened a new segment. Here the Dhoot family tried their luck in the uncharted territory of manufacturing conventional tube-based colour TV sets. Dhoot who had an engineering degree from the University of Pune set off to Japan for a year to be trained at electronics companies. In 1986, he founded Videocon International, which aimed at manufacturing 1,00,000 TV sets a year. It entered into technical collaboration with the Japanese major Toshiba and from here there was no looking back. From colour TV sets, Videocon in the 1990s expanded into other verticals, such as refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, home entertainment systems and other small appliances. It pushed contemporary rivals like Mirc Electronic (Onida), Salora, Weston etc with affordable pricing. Its TV models like Bazooka and Bazoomba were the market's favourites in the early 90s. After having success in its consumer electronics and home appliances business, Dhoot expanded Videocon Industries into other areas, such as Oil &amp; Gas, cellular services and others. However, Dhoot's downfall started when it entered into the cellular service area with Videocon Telecommunications. It could launch commercial services only in 11 out of the 18 circles it held licences. In 2012, after the 2G spectrum case, the Supreme Court cancelled 122 licences issued by the central government in 2008, 21 licences belonged to Videocon. In the 2012 spectrum auction, Videocon won back licences in 6 circles but sold to the market leader <keyword id="6354287" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="bharti-airtel" source="Orion">Bharti Airtel</keyword> and shut down operations. Moreover, in the late 90s South Korean giants like LG Electronics and Samsung entered the Indian market, which disrupted consumer electronics and appliances with the latest technology and quality products at affordable pricing. Though Videocon Industries had several verticals, its main cash cow was the consumer electronics and appliances business. As Videocon failed to face the challenges from rivals Sony, LG and Samsungs, its revenue got stagnated and gradually it sat on a pile of debt. Dhoot tried to pair debts by selling some of his assets. The company merged its DTH business with Dish TV. They sold ownership in some of their gas fields and telecom business, but it did not work. Finally, in 2018, it was dragged to the insolvency tribunal NCLT by its creditor. It owed around Rs 31,000 crore to the banks, including interests. At the request of lenders, the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) has conducted a consolidated corporate insolvency resolution process by combining Videocon Industries and the other 12 Videocon group companies. In June 2021, a bid of merely Rs 2,692 crore from billionaire Anil Agarwal's Twin Star Technologies to take over Videocon Industries was approved by the NCLT. This also went into controversy. Earlier this year, the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) had set aside Twin Star's Rs 2,692 crore bid, directing to invite fresh bids. Though it was challenged before the Supreme Court by Twin Star, the creditors of Videocon Industries are still looking for a buyer. According to some sources, the lenders may even consider liquidation, if they fail to find a buyer for the company, which once was a success story. The company claims it to be their thinnest and lightest laptop, along with the new Vivobook Pro 14 OLED and Vivobook. The pricing for ZenBook S 13 OLED starts from Rs 99,990, Vivobook 14 Pro OLED at Rs 59,990 and VivoBook 16X at Rs 54,990. The laptops are available on both online and offline platforms. "Over the past few years, the PC industry has seen exponential growth in India," Arnold Su, Business Head, Consumer and Gaming PC, System Business Group, ASUS India, said in a statement. "Catering to the rise in demand and changing working environment, we have announced the launch of our thinnest laptop, Zenbook S 13 OLED," Su added. In a letter sent on Sunday, AT&amp;T CEO John Stankey and Verizon CEO Hans Vestberg wrote that the companies intend to continue with their planned rollout of 5G on Wednesday, after already agreeing to a "costly" monthlong delay from its previously scheduled December launch date. "On the evening of New Year's Eve, just five days before the C-Band spectrum will be deployed, we received your letter asking us to take still more voluntary steps — to the detriment of our millions of consumer, business, and government customers — to once again assist the aviation industry and the FAA after failing to resolve issues in that costly 30-day delay period, which we never considered to be an initial one," the letter reads. The letter came in response to a memo sent by Buttigieg and Federal Aviation Administration Administrator Steve Dickson on Friday that detailed concerns surrounding 5G's potential for "widespread and unacceptable disruption" within the airline industry. The memo included a request to delay the rollout by an additional two weeks and for AT&amp;T and Verizon to commit to placing a buffer around select airports. A spokesperson for the Federal Aviation Administration told Insider on Sunday that the organization is "reviewing the latest letter from the wireless companies on how to mitigate interference from 5G C-Band transmissions.""U.S. aviation safety standards will guide our next actions," the spokesperson said in a statement. Stankey and Vestberg wrote in the letter AT&amp;T and Verizon Communications dedicated most of the past year to preparing for the implementation of 5G services, adding that they complied with various federal fees and requirements, including paying "tens of billions" to the US government and satellite services for widespread spectrum service. The executives added that their efforts also came after the US government had declared it was "lagging behind China" in 5G services, as well as following the auction of the C-Band spectrum in February that was the "culmination of years of study by the Federal Communications Commission." The executives further noted that 5G services already exist in 40 countries where it "has been deployed without any negative impact on aviation." "We care deeply about the safety of our customers, employees, and families, all of whom fly domestically and internationally for business and pleasure," the executives wrote in the letter. "Our two companies are deeply committed to public safety and national security, and fortunately, the question of whether 5G operations can safely coexist with aviation has long been settled.
